Now repressed by popular demand! "The Trance Of Seven Colors" by master Gnawa musician MALEEM MAHMOUD GHANIA and free jazz legend PHAROAH SANDERS. Produced by BILL LASWELL and according to The Attic "one of the most important albums of Gnawa trance music released in the '90s". Originally released in 1994 on BILL LASWELL's AXIOM imprint, "The Trance Of Seven Colors" is the meeting of two true musical masters: MALEEM MAHMOUD GHANIA (1951 – 2015), son of the master of Gnawa music MALEEM BOUBKER GHANIAand the famous clairvoyant and "moqaddema" A'ISHA QABRAL, and a master of the traditional Gnawa style in his own right.MAHMOUD learned this craft as a youth along with his brothers, walking from village to village, performing ceremonies with his father BOUBKER and was one of the few masters (Maleem) who continued to practice the Gnawa tradition strictly for healing (the central ritual of the Gnawa is the trance music ceremony – with the purpose of healing or purification of the participants). With 30 cassette releases of music from the Gnawa repertoire with his own ensemble and performances at every major festival in Morocco, including performing for the King in various contexts, MAHMOUD GHANIA was also one of Morocco's most prominent professional musicians. In 1994, BILL LASWELL and PHAROAH SANDERS went to Mocrocco, equipped with just some mobile recording devices, to record GHANIA and a large ensemble of musicians (to a good part family members) in a very intimate set up at a private house with the legendary free jazz musician contributing his distinctive tenor saxophone sounds that gained him highest praise as a truely spiritual soul right from the days of playing with JOHN COLTRANE and his wife ALICE and on seminal solo albums like "Karma". The aptly titled "The Trance of Seven Colors" ranks among the best Gnawa recordings ever released, made it onto the list of "10 incredible percussive albums from around the world" by Thevinylfactory.com and is 25 years after its original CD release on finally available on vinyl!

Flocks - The Hunter
FLOCKS is a new duo, formed by drone specialist WERNER DURAND and ULI HOHMANN. Musical landscapes that move between traditional as well as experimental sounds with influences from Krautrock and JON HASSEL's "fourth world" aesthetics.
WERNER DURAND has made himself a name with various projects with Dhrupad singerAMELIA CUNI, playing with URBAN SAX, ARNOLD DREYBLATT, HENNING CHRISTIANSEN, DAVID BEHRMAN, ELLEN FULLMAN, CATHERINE CHRISTER HENNIX, as the co-founder of THE 13th TRIBE, ARMCHAIR TRAVELLER and TONALIENS (with ROBIN AYWARD and HILARY JEFFERY) plus numerous solo albums, released on labels like Black Truffle, Unseen Worlds or Edition Telemark. Having studied saxophone as well as Indian / Persian flutes, the Berlin based DURAND is a highly reputated protagonist in the drone scene, famous for his self-built wind instruments like buzz-clarinets or his PVC neys & horns.
His partner in FLOCKS (and longtime personal friend) is ULI HOHMANN whose early encounters with music from Asia, India and Africa led to studies with the Ghanaian master drummer MUSTAPHA TETTEY ADDY and later Tombak and Daf with NEMAD DARMAN (Iran). HOHMANN played in a couple of projects that explored the language of classical Persian music, and started building his own stringed instruments (being an educated carpenter). In 2014 he joined DURAND and AMELIA CUNI for the album "Clearing", and 2018 DURAND and HOHMANN decided to continue as a duo: FLOCKS was born.
On their selftitled debut they shape drone-y soundscapes based on their self-built wind- & stringed instruments, Persian percussion and subtle electronics, drawing additional inspiration from Krautrock (listen to the irresistible, hypnotique groove of "Quicksand") as well as JON HASSEL's "fourth world" aesthetics, placing the duo nicely between tradition and experiment!

Gnawa Music Of Marrakesh - Hamouda
Remastered vinyl reissue of this 1990 BILL LASWELL / RICHARD HOROWITZproduction of local Gnawa musicians, recorded in the Medina of Marrakesh. Accordingto Allmusic.com "a must for fans of both African and Middle Eastern music" and votedone of the "10 essential Gnawa albums" by Songlines. The Gnawa are an ethnic minorityin today's Morocco, descendents of slaves from West Africawho were brought to Morocco in the 16th century and who (although they quickly converted toIslam) nevertheless brought with them remnants of their animistic practices. The Gnawa perform a complex ceremony (called lila or derdeba) that over the duration of severalhours recreates the genesis of the universe by the evocation of the seven main manifestationsof the divine, represented by seven colours. Those ceremonies, led by a master or "maleem",are still taking place today privately while Gnawa music in general has clearly been modernizingand thus become more profane, but witnessing a performance is still an astonishing experience. With the exception of a handful of recordings by PAUL BOWLES and PHILIP SCHUYLER (moreethnographic documents in a field recordings style), Gnawa music was barely heard outside ofMorocco before 1990 - one of the first westerners to come and record the music was BILLLASWELL, back then running his AXIOM label that portrayed a wide range of ethnic music andmusicians like THE MASTER MUSICIANS OF JAJOUKA or MALEEM MAHMOUD GHANIA, toname just two. "Night Spirit Masters", recorded in the Medina of Marrakech, delivers soulfultracks of lead and group singers in call/ response mode, fired by sentirs, drums, hand clapping, and qrakechs, while others are drum features or sentir/ vocal pieces.Over 30 years after its initial release, this essential Gnawa album is finally available again -remastered and on 180gr audiophile vinyl! "Gnawa, bottom heavy trance music of North Africa. Repetitive bass lines, generated by thegimbri or sintir with metal clappers, hand drums and voice.Seven trances, seven colors, seven scents, Gnawa not only moves, it can remove."Bill Laswell Hell's Kitchen, NYC, May 2022

Tülay German & François Rabbath - Abidin
Referring heavily on turkish poets and the tradition of a??ks (singer-poets and wanderingbards) these two albums represent unique and modern interpretations of turkish folk songsunmatched to this day. A matured artist with full conviction at the height of her powers!Back in the 60s Tülay German (*1935 in Istanbul, Turkey) shook the turkish music landscapewith several 7" records. Most notably her first 7" record "Burçak Tarlas?" (1964) is nowconsidered the cornerstone of what was to become the Anadolu Rock/ Pop movement andunderlines her rebellious nature and sense of justice. But due to the increasing repression Tülay German and her lifelong partner and intellectualimpetus Erdem Buri decided to leave Turkey a few years later. In fact, an impending prisonsentence for Erdem Buri for translating Hegel's "Dialectic and Science of Logic" andPlekhanov's "Fundamental Problems of Marxism" led the couple to emigrate to France. In France Tülay German signs a major contract with Philips resulting in many 7" releasessung in french under her french moniker Toula?. In the long run Tülay German doesn't feelquite comfortable with this major deal. And thus, despite the success and recognition she hadgained, she decides to quit the contract with Philips!Later on she signs to independent world-music label Arion to pursue her actual artistic goalsmore in line with her origin and temperament. Back to her mother tongue, Tülay Germanrecords above mentioned albums for Arion under full artistic freedom, the only full-lenghthsin her 20+ years career. Alongside with double-bass virtuoso and turkophil François Rabbath(*1931 in Aleppo, Syria) the albums consist of a??k traditionals and intonated poems mainlyby Naz?m Hikmet. Her passionate voice and the restrained arrangements of FrançoisRabbath turn these centuries old melodies and poems into glowing manifestos for love andjustice. The fruitful collaboration of these artists-in-exile adds significantly to the rich heritageof turkish folk music. The self-titled debut, which was awarded with the prestigious "Grand Prix du Disque" ofAcadémie Charles Cros in 1981, is now seeing a vinyl reissue after 40 years.Tülay German ended her musical career in 1987 and after the death of Erdem Buri in 1993she retired from public life completely, leading a quiet life in Paris where she still lives to thisday. In 2021 Tülay German was awarded with the Lifetime Achievement Award by the IstanbulFoundation for Culture and Arts, Turkey.

MW001 - Just Can't Stop (Orca Space Dub)
For their first release, London label Moonworks are reissuing two highly sought-after UK house bombs from Carlos Baker aka Serpico to mark the 30th anniversary of its original 1993 release.
'Just Can't Stop' is a record which fell through the cracks, deemed not commercially viable enough by the major label that Serpico was signed to at the time. Determined to get the music out there, Baker decided to self-release a limited run of blue labelled vinyl. Several big independent labels of the '90s were subsequently interested in putting out the tracks, however it never came to fruition.
Over 30 years this record has aged gracefully, inspiring generations of diggers with its quirky euphoric feel, weighty low-end and intoxicating synthwork becoming a prized possession for some of the biggest names on the scene, with original copies trading hands for £100+. Whether you draw for the ecstasy-inducing Incantation Mix or the acid-infused Orca Space Dub, there’s no denying this is a timeless masterpiece from the UK underground.
Moonworks have worked closely with Serpico to bring this gem back down to earth, restoring the tracks from the original DAT tapes at Gat Decor’s studio, remastering them to modern standards and finally giving this music the official release it deserves. More

Quoth is proud to present its second EP of spectral dance music, following Coralie’s 'Barney’s Maze'.
Coming from the third mind of Pearl River Sound and The Horn, two artists with illustrious solo back catalogues, the 'Top Shelf Material EP' is a kaleidoscopic trip into the timeless psychedelia of UK rave music. Highly referential, but never pastiche, the sound world draws from IDM, mutant hardcore stylings, grime, 80s fantasy, and pulp cinema.
‘What the fuck?’ moments of full throttle breakbeat pressure are counter-poised with the liminal robot romanticism of heart-rendingly detuned electronica. Eschewing refinement and polish for raw sensibility, the 'Top Shelf Material EP' is emotive and propulsive, playful and tragic, wistful and optimistic. We couldn't recommend it more.
Available on hand-stamped 12" vinyl (limited to 200 copies with insert) and digital formats. Mastered by Beau Thomas at Ten Eight Seven. More

Limited Edition 140g Black Vinyl LP, Full-color Jacket & Poly-lined inner sleeve, with original photography and artwork by Grant Aaron and Gabriel Benzur
For nearly 40 years, English producer Mark Van Hoen has been making challenging music that eludes easy categorization under his own name, as Locust, and in the groups Autocreation, Scala, and Drøne. While his output has skirted around the fringes of IDM, techno, trip-hop, ambient, drone, and electropop, it has mutated these genres' elements in distinctive ways, revealing a mind always questing for unprecedented sounds.
This is Mark Van Hoen’s ninth album as Locust, and an instant classic.
Drifting, hanging, holding. Hoping, seeking, searching. And then finding.
Mark Van Hoen's ninth album as Locust is a cosmic whisper, a tender touch, where candid songwriting commingles with the afterimage of trip-hop and jungle. Across eight tracks, spectral melodies dance between languid breakbeats, and a formless murmur drifts through the ether, seeking a common thread.
Layered in strata, "The First Cause" reveals itself anew with each listen. Delicate tones share space with bass weight. Drums crunch, and rhythms cascade. Voices loop and intone, bodiless. What at first seems melancholy, you may later find reoriented—toward promise.
We seek solace in each other, and we seek solace in sound. Kinship isn't easy to come by. When a record offers its kind embrace to us as this one does, without reservation, we should take heed.

These days we are back again in the 60s, as the world urgently needs a new peace movement. Therefore we ultimately call everyone to hold their hands together and look into the future, - nothing describes better the message we deeply feel being part of, in the own words of Kito Jempere. For ''Let's Hold Our Hands Together'' he already called up the internationally awarded Swedish composer Adam Evald on vocals and the enigmatic Antoha MC on trumpet, backed by Public Possession artist, Eden Burns and our very own, Leonid Lipelis (check his latest 'Function As A Meaning' EP!!!), on the remix duties, Kito Jempere is the ''DJ's hero'' - selector, producer, own orchestra and band conductor (watch Boiler Room from PPF!), who has been delivering quality dance records through decades via DFA, Lo Recordings, Freerange. Proclaimed as the ''The King Of Collaborations'' by Zweikommasieben, Kito has been working on music with together with Jimi Tenor, Red Snapper, Hard Ton, New Composers and got remixed by Palms Trax, Andras, Ruf Dug, Black Spuma and many more. Say hello to a new series of hand-stamped Aniara 12" releases that will be an outlet for some more stripped down atmospheric cuts on the Aniara frequency. Sales Note
SHDW's label Mutual Rytm rounds out another year with 'Symbiosis' - an excellent split EP from Greek artists ANNE & Sera J, featuring six fresh cuts and four digital bonuses.
The release title comes from the Greek word 'Symbiosis', which means living closely together for a significant period and can be used to speak of a mutually beneficial interaction between individuals. And that is precisely what can be said of ANNE and Sera J, who have grown through life as partners and, more recently, as musical peers. This split EP is their first release alongside one another, and one that presents the story of their innermost feelings, with their full label debut following fine contributions to the label's 'Federation Of Rytm II' compilation back in March.
ANNE has had a busy few years making her mark with potent techno on labels such as Soma, Hardgroove, and Life In Patterns, while Sera J is just as revered for his tunes on the likes of Out Of Place, DifferentSound and more.
ANNE takes the A-side, firstly with the fiery diva vocals and thumping techno drums of 'Heal My Soul' and then the more physical and banging drum programming of 'Turn Back Time'. It's a big, metallic cut with rumbling bass and sleek synths peeling off the groove, while her final track 'Zephyrus' has plenty of infectious bounce and eerie pads to keep dancers on their toes.
On the flip, Sera J kicks off with the electrifying synth stabs and cantering techno power of 'Blue Dancers' and then offers up 'Common People' as twisted leads and slamming drums all run through with alien sound effects and bright stabs. To close, 'Delusion' is a psychedelic cut with roaming leads that bring plenty of cosmic energy to the unrelenting kicks.
In addition, each artist serves up a pair of digital bonuses: ANNE with the hurried funk of 'Serene' and loopy intensity of 'Victor', and Sera J with the liquid, dubby dynamics of the hard-hitting 'Intensity' and monstrous energy of 'Bodies Don't Lie.'
ANNE & Sera J 'Smybiosis' drops via Mutual Rytm on 1st December 2023.

Info
We Release JAZZ is so happy to announce the fourth Bruno Spoerri release in the WRWTFWW discography, this time focusing on the Swiss legend’s unheard jazz catalogue. The pristine 6-track album Musiques Légères (1976-1982) is available as a limited edition half speed mastered biovinyl LP housed in a heavy 350gsm sleeve with superb design by Nicolas Eigenheer and the classic WRJ obi.
Swiss jazz and electronic music pioneer Bruno Spoerri unveils a treasure trove of never-before-released songs in this rare archival collection recorded between 1976 and 1982 that includes collaborations with the fabled Radio Suisse Romande-backed music ensemble GIR (Groupe Instrumental Romand) which featured the crème de la crème of Helvetic forward thinking musicians with an international reputation. The super team of instrumentalists / composers represented Swiss national radio in endeavors that spanned a vast array of music genres such a jazz, pop, experimental music, or what they referred to as “musiques légères” (light music), their very own brand of jazz and funk infused easy listening. One notable member of GIR was drummer extraordinaire Stuff Combe that We Release JAZZ collectors will know from his Stuff Combe 5 + Percussion LP.
Musique Légères (1976-1982) offers a marvelous blend of easy listening jazz, joyful synth improvisations, and soulful funk ballads, a testament to Bruno Spoerri’s multifaceted talents and ability to approach various genres while keeping his very personal and very magical touch. Among the hidden gems on the carefully curated collection is the immensely catchy "Prince Karl", an undeniable hit that truly deserves to be heard.
This is the fourth Bruno Spoerri release from WRWTFWW, following the synth heavy and galactic Voice of Taurus and The Sound of the UFOs, and the compilation of unreleased experimental tracks Rare & Unreleased 1971-1998.
Musiques Légères (1976-1982) is pressed on biovinyl, a sustainable alternative to traditional vinyl. Biovinyl replaces petroleum in S-PVC by recycling used cooking oil or industrial waste gases, resulting in 100% CO2 savings in bio-based S-PVC production. Furthermore, it is 100% recyclable and reusable, embracing the circular economy ideology.
Points of interests
- For fans of the great Bruno Spoerri, smooth jazz, saxophone, ballads, lightness, the good feeling of simple things.
- Limited edition half speed mastered biovinyl of Bruno Spoerri’s latest archival collection, available for the first time ever!
