A serendipitous encounter at an SF record store in the early 90s brought together local music aficionados DJ Dan and Jim Hopkins. Their collaboration birthed the legendary Electroliners project, channeling their shared passion for underground and funky sounds into the iconic left-coast rave anthem, 'Loose Caboose', now firmly nestled in your hands. Pooling their musical prowess, Dan and Jim embarked on a journey of sonic exploration, meticulously crafting their signature sound by dissecting samples and breakbeats, infusing the musical landscape with a revitalizing energy. As their reputation grew within the local scene, they found themselves tasked with supplying a track for a promotional CD-ROM by a burgeoning software company.

Through marathon sessions of digging, slicing, sequencing, and exchanging snippets over phone calls, Electroliners hit their creative stride. It was only natural to unveil their creation in the raw intensity of a live rave setting. Thanks to a connection with DJ DRC, they seized the opportunity, and the rest is history. Copies of the record flew off the shelves by the thousands locally, and its overseas acclaim, spearheaded by licensing through XL Recordings in the UK, cemented its status as a bona fide underground classic. Jim sheds light on the inspiration: “I delved into books on trains at the public library,” he reveals. “Among them, 'Electroliner' caught my eye, a train line in the Midwest. Tobias Menguser, AKA Leon De Winter, was a very influential figure in the 90's Frankfurt techno scene, releasing around 100 records under various aliases, including collaborations with Ricardo Villalobos, but it was his Leon De Winter alias that really caught the ears of legendary London label Eukahouse, who originally releases this 12" all the way back in 1997. A one-off, it is not only unique in its sound design but also genre defying, spanning deep house, tech-house, techno, electro and breaks. A-Side 'Apollo Jazz' is truly that, sounding like it was composed from a freeform jam on a trip to the Moon. Although better known for his artistic output as Stopouts and A², back in 1997 Andy and Alec Stone turned their creative skills to the emergent UK Garage scene, producing this wonderful 4 track EP of fierce garage jams under the alias Upside, a one-off, originally released on seminal UKG label Underground Classics. 'Disco Killer' opens proceedings with melodic chords before a super thick b-line rolls in to overlay those essential skipping snares and swinging percussion. Rewind to 1994, something brand new is stirring in the studio of the Housey Doingz crew, a fresh stripped down, swinging sort of funk emanating from the monitors. This would be their very first record as a unit and they definitely didn't know what sort of impact it would have in the coming decades. A record like this would certainly have sounded alien back then, but boy you can guarantee it caught people's ears! Kicking off with that infamous vocal sample 'Brothers' is a bonafide roller of the highest order, punctuated by dubbed out pianos too - devastating! 'Brothers Bump' is almost the 2nd part of the first cut, while they share some of the characteristics, it's it's own little world of acidic funk, try it - you might like it... 'Poet' welcomes us to the B-side, those cymbals just pull you in, almost jazz style, this one's a breaky minimal peaking number, killer. 'Magical' is the EP closer, and it's another total trippy weapon akin to the output of Holy Ghost Inc and similar outfits with it's building wall of acid and clipped vox. The whole record is so varied and brilliant it had noted journalist, producer and DJ Dave Mothersole proclaim "the first tech house record is arguably this". A truly rare record that every home should have, now on the streets again. Wicked.

The Brothers EP has been legitimately re-released with the full involvement of the Housey Doingz massive and was remastered by London's Curve Pusher from the original DAT's especially for Mint Condition. 100% legit, licensed and released. On the A side we have the much in-demand Blaze 'Shelter' remix of "Fantasy" which stretches this classic to 8.55 and finishes with an unbelievable Phillip Bailey acappella. As though that wasn't enough we've put the much sought-after Masters At Work remix of "Can't Hide Love"
a staple record since its debut in 2002.

Terry Francis' name is synonymous with London's mid 90's to early noughties underground Tech-House heyday. A longtime underground DJ and tastemaker who has graced the booth in every major club you'd care to mention, Francis was also a prodigious producer and label owner who found himself working alongside the infamous SWAG mob and heading up the now seminal labels 'Wiggle' and 'Eye 4 Sound' labels. With a fervent international DJ schedule and numerous productions appearing all over the place, a residency at Fabric, major label remixes piling up and everything else in-between, Francis' name has been solidified as a bonafide UK legend, a force to be reckoned with. Let's rewind to 1999, Surreal Records, a subsidiary of SWAG, 'Took From Me' drops and is an instant classic.... even now, a decade later, it's a record that peels the roof off a night-club (in the right hands, of course!) It's all here inside 'Took From Me', the sparse, chopped up drum programming, ominous floor-shaking basslines and weirdly warped vocal samples that make you wonder. B-side see's the equally sparse yet compelling 'Clint's Groove' spreading out over one whole side of wax, it's all filtered rolling drums, aquatic sirens and a monstrous bassline that could easily swallow London town whole! Somehow Klasse Wrecks has made it to 50 official releases, not bad for a label that wears its ignorance for others and 'the norm' proudly on its dirty sleeve. Over the years the label has released a multitude of various sounds, spanning bleep, rave, deep house, down tempo and the 50th release does well to encapsulate that free spirit and openess. Without much planning and totally by way of coincidence the responsibility lies with label co-owner Luca Lozano and its sonically a typical mixed bag as to be expected. Kicking off with restless acid stomping, the title track barges through the door...knocks over a few drinks before blossoming into a breakdown that propels the 303 deep into space and back again. On the A2, Lozano shows off his love for creaky breakbeats and DX donks on a track called 'Re-Mix'...which as far as we know isnt a remix of anything at all. The flip contains more raving beauties, 'Save Me From The Rave' might be a desperate plea but by the sounds of it he's still enjoying the madness, the producer makes an epic breakdown that might well signify the end of all Trance homages. Then the final track of the EP sounds like it could be played in a field in Glastonbury in 1993, its haunting vocal harmonies signify the sun is coming up soon and likely that we're about to start Chapter 2 of the Wrecks Wrebellion. This self-titled 12" you have here in your hands is a rare diamond, another set of smooth and acidic jams from London's potent tech-house underground, a rich and rewarding scene, one that is back with a vengeance today with discerning selectors from around the globe tuning into what was making clubs move here in the capital pre-millenium. The beauty of these super rare and expensive to obtain tracks is that they seem to be made with both the DJ and the dancer in mind, meaning - they are fun to mix and blend and drop long arse 10 minutes blend with without ever being boring, AND they are sure as hell fun to dance to in the darkened corners of whatever space you're lucky enough to find yourself in. Not short on the old Funk, this is premier league shit right here, from the dons. Proper subterranean business from that London town. Sure to be in your bag for the next 20 years n'all!
