A creation of the master at work himself Mr. Louie Vega, alongside Mood II Swing's Lem Springsteen, 'Beautiful People' is one of those mid 90's NYC jams that ticks all the boxes. A record that was built for huge sound systems and joyous packed, sweaty dancefloors and one that features the supreme vocal skills of Barbara Tucker in full flow. It has all the trappings of a classic. The A-side is the same as the original 1994 pressing with the now legendary 'Underground Network' mix opening proceedings, a roof-raising piece of organ led, gospel tinged goodness complete with it's iconic 'deep deep inside, deep down inside' vocal refrain slap bang in the middle for the sample spotters. Also included are the wonderfully stripped back and bumping 'Beautiful Reprise' mix and the original monster 'Club Mix' which sees Louie's MAW cohort Kenny Dope Gonzales at the desk on mixing duties (again, rinsing the amazing 'deep inside' vocal to great effect) and finally, to round off this essential package we are treated to a deep as you like Mood II Swing dub mix that is all swirling pads and organs, taking us into the early hours in style. A more solid and essential repress of a classic record you'd be hard pressed to find!

Incredible, stone cold classic house music from the mighty Wayne Gardiner, a truly underrated producer whose output has remained evergreen over the decades and is definite deep house royalty. 'Moments In House' is from 1990, unbelievable really when you hear how fresh it sounds today. The clue is in the title, this is a killer version of Art Of Noise's seminal 'Moments In Love', a landmark record in itself. Gardiner pays tribute to the Art with his stripped, funky and driving use of their infamous pads and tones, a nod to the NYC / NJ clubs where records such as 'Moments In Love' would have been deemed the classics of the day. 'Just A Touch' is on the flip, a beautifully deep and bassline driven cut that evokes the spirit of Larry Heard, but doesn't borrow too heavily from him while carving out it's own late night sonic niche. One for the dancers and the lovers of the deepness. It's hard to top records like this, from the dawn of house music's golden age, innocent and uncomplicated yet oozing with soul and depth. Monumental House anthem alert! Another classic jammer from 1992 lifted straight from the Strictly vaults. This one's HUGE. Phuture aka acid House pioneers Spanky and DJ Pierre (with a little help from Roy Davis JR) turn in a driving, acidic monster in true Wild Pitch style. Probably the only record that begins with a sinister voice saying 'This is cocaine speaking' before diving head-long into one of the best anti-drug House records ever. Absolutely brilliant. Bubbling 303 basslines and cavernous handclaps combine with a funked out, dubbed out synth line that just doesn't stop. Phuture will survive, and they weren't lying when they said that as this record (among too many others they had a hand in) still rock today. Yep, still fresh. Tried and tested, often imitated, never bettered. Phuture are the originals. Open up your eyes (and ears). This one's a tasty 2017 reissue and remaster, featuring all 4 mixes as per the original release way back when. Essential stuff here. You simply NEED this one.

Groove Patrol aka the 95 North crew dropped these 2 sides of heavyweight NYC Garage pressure in 1993. One listen and it's obvious the influence records like this had on UK producers and scenes. Swinging, funked out and tough, all at the same time, 'Need your love' is here across 3 mixes. The original mix itself sounding the most UK-centric for sure. If soulful, underground US House is your bag you'll be needing this reissue for sure! Absolutely oozing class, classic material. 'Dancin to the music' is the B-side, 2 mixes feature, again and it's that 95 North sound - drenched in soul, yet street at the same time. Both versions are hard enough for the heads, but musical enough for the dancers who are deep in the speaker stack. Brilliant stuff for House lovers old and new. Dan Curtin's name has long been associated with future looking Techno, machine music oozing with soul and emotion. Growing up on the slag heaps of County Durham Northumbria, young Sam Robson dreamed of one day finding a better way & somewhere to live with nicer bloody weather! An avid record collector from an early age he looked to music for the answer…
Born in Bradford in the late 60's and growing up in the North-East in the 70's, alternative music fast became his obsession from punk, to new wave, two tone, rock and new romantic he collected it all. Electro and Hip Hop hit his local boombox in the form of "Crucial Electro" on StreetSounds Records and he was soon hungry for anything new & electronic coming out of the U.S.
His call was answered one day at school his mate Gareth (a fellow music enthusiast) lent him a 12" record from Chicago that opened up his mind & changed his course. The piano and gospel tinged record was none other than Marshall Jefferson's "House Music Anthem" that told him "to move your body" and that "house music was gonna set you free…' The rest is History. forward 10 years later to 1996 and Big Sam is now DJing a weekly House night in Santa Barbara alongside LA stalwart DJ Doc Martin. He lives just south of Santa Barbara two blocks from the Pacific Ocean in the sunny beach town of Carpinteria, (about an hour north of Los Angeles).
The warehouse is kitted out with a full studio set up of Roland Corp's latest & greatest but he also has the City Planning Commission breathing down his neck and threatening the boot as his residence unbeknownst to him had been built without any city permits! He is told that his only hope for keeping his building safe from demolition is THE CALIFORNIA COASTAL COMMISSION who protect everything 3 miles in on the entire California coast.
With the Coastal Commission on his mind & while managing L.A Dance Mecca music store "Beatnonstop Records" he meets fellow Brit, musician & house-head Chris Penny aka CPen. They quickly bond at The Cat & the Fiddle over a pint & early 90's rave and Jungle toons. Sam invites Chris up to his studio in Carpinteria for a weekend getaway from LosAngeles and a studio seshion. That night they stuff Chris's Rhodes piano in the boot of Sam's tiny Beemer and shoot up the coast on Highway 101 Carpinteria bound with their mate Lil Johnny "Toaster Oven."
After burning the midnight oil (with fellow studio boffin & PCH engineer "Evil Eye" Nate), when daylight broke "Rhodes through Space" was born. A mastering session was quickly booked and the white labels arrived a week later where they were quickly stuffed into a suitcase and it was off to South Beach/Miami to promote the track at for WMC aka Winter Music Conference. In quiet desperation and not knowing what to name the collective "COASTAL COMMISSION' featuring CPen was agreed upon and scribbled onto the White Labels. As fortune would have it, Sam would run into Philly House stalwart King Britt outside his hotel who was a regular customer at the store back in L.A. King would be one of the first peeps to receive a copy of the record. That night King invited Sam to the club where he broke the track at the Basement Jaxx Conference party party to a packed house alongside legends Daft Punk, Armand Van Helden & DJ Sneak.
25 years later the Coastal Commission are back, remastered and Cpen has since received two Grammys with Honey Dijon for their work on Beyonce's House album. "Rhodes Through Space" is a musical tribute to the club/rave/warehouse party that is still relatable to this very day.
