Wink, - Thick As Thieves
2
Wink, - Acid Tonic
WINK - does this name need any further introduction? Philadelphia based Josh Wink is one of the pioneers of techno and allied styles. He started to release records around 1992 and presented us some musical milestones such as „Don’t Laugh“, „Higher State Of Consciousness“, „Are You There“ and „How Is Your Evening So Far?“, but he also supported the development of electronic music by running his own label imprint „Ovum Recordings“, famous for releases by David Alverado, DJ Pierre, King Britt, Steve Bug and of course his own 12“es. This man has such an extraordinary and unique artist profile - chapeau monsieur! Now, this is his debut 12“ on Poker Flat, beside his remix for Steve Bug’s Loverboy way back in 1999. The vinyl holds two strong tracks in typical WINK style, both infected with his sophisticated 303 lines. That’s why we love this guy so much. The a-side presents us with „Thick As Thieves“ as the title track. Almost ten minutes of WINK-ish madness, modulation and transformation easily proves his top position in the complex world of electronic dance music. „Acid Tonic“ on the flip side brings us some timeless and funky acid. Going on and on and on and on... superb work that will drive your crowd completely nuts! Thanks.

Barbara Tucker - Beautiful People (Mood II Swing Dub)
Strictly Rhythm throw open the archive for this limited white vinyl 2021 repress of an all time soulful house anthem! A creation of the master at work himself Mr. Louie Vega, alongside Mood II Swing's Lem Springsteen, 'Beautiful People' is one of those mid 90's NYC jams that ticks all the boxes. A record that was built for huge sound systems and joyous packed, sweaty dancefloors and one that features the supreme vocal skills of Barbara Tucker in full flow. It has all the trappings of a classic. The A-side is the same as the original 1994 pressing with the now legendary 'Underground Network' mix opening proceedings, a roof-raising piece of organ led, gospel tinged goodness complete with it's iconic 'deep deep inside, deep down inside' vocal refrain slap bang in the middle for the sample spotters. Also included are the wonderfully stripped back and bumping 'Beautiful Reprise' mix and the original monster 'Club Mix' which sees Louie's MAW cohort Kenny Dope Gonzales at the desk on mixing duties (again, rinsing the amazing 'deep inside' vocal to great effect) and finally, to round off this essential package we are treated to a deep as you like Mood II Swing dub mix that is all swirling pads and organs, taking us into the early hours in style. A more solid and essential repress of a classic record you'd be hard pressed to find!

WHITE VINYL REPRESS! Well. Where do we start with 'Deep Inside'? Originally released in the golden NYC House era of 1993, this 5 tracker literally smashed everything in sight. And still does now! The epitome of an evergreen, all-time classic release. Masters At Work Louie Vega and Kenny Dope were on a major roll in this era, producing, remixing, dj-ing and everything in-between, these guys put in ridiculous work. They are joined on this EP by a roll-call of names and collaborators, Erick Morillo engineering the title track? Check. Maurice Joshua on co-production duties? You got it. Vocals by Ms. Barbara tucker? They're there. Killer, rock hard drums? Stacks of Soul? Masterfully chopped up Disco samples? All present. Serious stuff. Sometimes a record just manages to capture and distill the true essence of what this is all about and 'Deep Inside' is one such record, it bears all the hallmarks of golden era MAW, all the signposts of what was happening in NYC's clubs in the early to mid 90's were there within it's grooves. You know a record is good when it's still being, quite literally, hammered nearly 25 years later! Now, remastered, and reissued with the full involvement of Strictly Rhythm this seminal piece of NYC House history is made available again with all original, full sleeve artwork intact as per the 1993 original. This one's a straight up essential for any self-respecting dance aficionado. You know what to do!

Seminal club sounds from the legendary Strictly Rhythm catalogue, this is some straight 1994 heat. Armand Van Helden is a worldwide legend in house music - this is undisputed! His discography is untouchable and 'Witch Doktor' is easily one of the most classic and BIGGEST jams in his catalogue. This is the sound of unbridled euphoria, huge sound-systems, packed out darkened dancefloors and an era of dance music that has passed but still reverberates today. Do yourself a favour, if you don't know it, or aren't feeling too hot yourself - come see the doktor! The classic 'Dark Ages' version is reissued here and featuring two slamming brand NEW mixes courtesy of Serge Santiago and Illyus & Barrientos for 2019. Huge. This 12" comes with all original Strictly label artwork, snoozing not permitted!

Incredible, stone cold classic house music from the mighty Wayne Gardiner, a truly underrated producer whose output has remained evergreen over the decades and is definite deep house royalty. 'Moments In House' is from 1990, unbelievable really when you hear how fresh it sounds today. The clue is in the title, this is a killer version of Art Of Noise's seminal 'Moments In Love', a landmark record in itself. Gardiner pays tribute to the Art with his stripped, funky and driving use of their infamous pads and tones, a nod to the NYC / NJ clubs where records such as 'Moments In Love' would have been deemed the classics of the day. 'Just A Touch' is on the flip, a beautifully deep and bassline driven cut that evokes the spirit of Larry Heard, but doesn't borrow too heavily from him while carving out it's own late night sonic niche. One for the dancers and the lovers of the deepness. It's hard to top records like this, from the dawn of house music's golden age, innocent and uncomplicated yet oozing with soul and depth. There aren't many out there like Mr. Gardiner. Untampered with and re-presented in it's original 1990 form with original Strictly label artwork, you need this! Essential

Logic's 'Blues for you' is a stone cold underground classic. Period. 1994 NYC soulful house groove all up in your area. This is it. The real thing. Wayne Gardiner is a definite unsung hero of dance music, the majority of his productions leaving dancers and DJ's salivating and dancing non-stop. Across 4 different mixes Gardiner shows up the deadly art of simplicity, making all of the versions contained within essentials. Absolutely banging from start to finish. The vocal versions are soaring, the dubs are absolutely tearing, setting dancefloors alight from the Shelter to Club Coliseum. Another Strictly anthem right here, given some tasty 2019 remastering treatment and repressed onto a high quality, weighty 12" for all you record lovers out there, this one will keep them moving in the mix. Perfect NYC sounds here, untouched and represented in it's original 1993 form with original Strictly label artwork, you need this!

Kerri 'Kaos' Chandler dropping some neat early 90's House pressure on the mighty Strictly Rhythm under his KCYC pseudonym. That's right, more and more gems mined deep outta the SR archives! 'I'm Not Dreaming / Side By Side' both serve up that typical, cherished KC vibe, all chunky swinging drums and deep basslines, and not forgetting those chords, with Chevelle's vox taking us into the garage stratosphere. The b-side is a more introspective affair, but nonetheless pure dancefloor fire. You cannot put a foot wrong with Kerri during this period, this one ticks all the boxes and has been given some tasty 2019 remastering treatment and repressed onto a high quality, weighty 12" for all you record lovers out there, this one will keep them moving in the mix. Seminal NYC deep House sounds from the legendary Strictly Rhythm catalogue, this is some straight 1991 heat. 'I Wanna Feel The Music' / 'Gotta Have You' are 2 stone cold jams. This is the sound that is often imitated, but never bettered, that true school deep House flavour. Sound Waves is a crew made up of Andrew Richardson and Gijo Rosario, who crafted 2 slamming 12"s for Strictly in the very early 90's. Both cuts ooze so much soul, and those unmistakable deep synth pads that wash over those tuff NYC drums with uplifting emotion. A true underground record that sounds like it could have easily dropped last week. This is a high quality, remastered from the OG audio files, 100% legit 2019 reissue of another essential deep House gem, truly flawless and it should be in every DJ's bag! Buy on sight.

The Strictly Rhythm imprint is legendary and is instantly recognisable by connoisseurs worldwide. It's a label that has contributed time and time again to dance music culture across it's almost 30 year lifespan. Countless classics passed through the NYC offices of Mark Finkelstein and Gladys Pizarro and this brand new 'Strictly Classics' series looks to celebrate this cornerstone dance label and it's immense catalogue by going back to the archives and presenting some double-header action for diehard fans and newcomers alike. That's right, the 'proper' mixes, reissued from source and remastered to the highest spec, each track spread across one side of a 12" for optimal sonic playback. The second instalment of this essential repress series sees the amazing 'Bass Tone' from Sole Fusion (aka Louie Vega) take up side A. It's a truly deep slice of that NYC grit that works on every level, the rough with the smooth, trademark Vega-isms and those drums! A sure-shot. On the flip is yet another gem - Hardrive's 'Just Believe' which is certainly a knowing nod back to the Disco days delivered with gusto by Louie Vega and the maestro Tony Humphries. Do not sleep on this, over 10 mins of that Funk!

Groove Patrol aka the 95 North crew dropped these 2 sides of heavyweight NYC Garage pressure in 1993. One listen and it's obvious the influence records like this had on UK producers and scenes. Swinging, funked out and tough, all at the same time, 'Need your love' is here across 3 mixes. The original mix itself sounding the most UK-centric for sure. If soulful, underground US House is your bag you'll be needing this reissue for sure! Absolutely oozing class, classic material. 'Dancin to the music' is the B-side, 2 mixes feature, again and it's that 95 North sound - drenched in soul, yet street at the same time. Both versions are hard enough for the heads, but musical enough for the dancers who are deep in the speaker stack. Brilliant stuff for House lovers old and new. This one's a tasty 2017 reissue and remaster, featuring all cuts, unedited, as per the original release way back when. Essential stuff here. Do not sleep. A worthy addition to any DJ's bag.

Dan Curtin's name has long been associated with future looking Techno, machine music oozing with soul and emotion. He has released on many seminal labels throughout his career and left an indelible mark on contemporary electronic music. 'Alive / Cascade' is perhaps a lesser known entry into Curtin's catalogue, released on Strictly in 1994 and is almost the perfect synthesis of NYC deep House and Detroit Techno, a true slept on gem of a record. The music contained within the grooves of this record defy any sort of time frame, it's almost hard to believe it's over 20+ years old. A truly beautiful record, 'Alive / Cascade' is a must for all electronic music lovers and will undoubtedly continue to be played and enjoyed for the next 20+ years ahead. Astounding stuff and yet another example of the wide reaching ears and minds operating Strictly Rhythm during this golden period.

Another cornerstone record from the mighty Strictly Rhythm catalogue, 'Waterfalls / Feel it' is an essential example of the deeper, more melodic style of house that emanated from NYC / NJ in the early to mid 90's. Originally released in 1991 the EP features the production style of Andrew 'Rags' Richardson with some co-production assistance from one Roger Sanchez. It perfectly encapsulates the style of music that would be played at clubs like the Loft, Shelter, Zanzibar and beyond, a more emotive and soulful strain of House that gives a respectful nod to it's Disco roots. 'Waterfalls / Feel it' has long been the toast of House aficionado's and is most definitely a record that will still have people rushing the booth asking 'what's this?!'. An evergreen slab of wax indeed. Essential sounds for the heads.

logic ( wayne gardiner ) - I Got Somethin' - Deep Mix
What is there to say about 'The difference'? This is how it should be done - deep, with soul and conveying a message, house music doesn't get any realer, any purer. Logic, a collaborative effort between Wayne Gardiner, Roger Sanchez, Vivian Sessoms and Eddie Maduro unleashed this monolithic slab of music on the world in 1990. Truly streets ahead this record helped carve a new sound, a new feeling in dance music. Oozing with human emotion and feeling 'The difference' is one of those records that honestly warrants the title of 'classic'. It's B side 'I got somethin' is a slinky, late night groove that recalls smoky, sweaty dance-floors and is all the better for it, this is the real deal for real. Yet another solid, essential release from the mighty Strictly Rhythm vaults, sounding as important, fresh and incredible as it did on it's initial release. House music history brought back into view for lucky ears and feet in 2017.

Release Info:
Following the club and label’s 20th anniversary back in 2011, Tresor memorialised its two decades of existence with an exclusive
mix from one of its esteemed Detroit connections, Mike Huckaby. On that mix, Mike Huckaby included an exclusive production of
his, the first one to be released on Tresor Records.
Today, Tresor is proud to announce the repress of the ‘The Tresor Track’ on wax, making up for a massive A-side cut at 45 RPM.
This title is on its way to stand along with the label’s most important classics, a genuine anthem for the Berlin techno institute.
On the flip, Mike Huckaby goes for a stroll through the Tresor building, heading downstairs, exploring the room’s darker and more
twisted corners with ‘Basement Trax’, going back towards ‘The Upstairs Lounge’ and surprising his audience with some original
rhythmic patterns. The Tresor EP is a statement, a seal manifesting for a fruitful and long-lasting collaboration between Mike
Huckaby and Tresor.
"I try to create a vibe, feeling or idea that could create a vicarious expression. Often, this is derived from many of my personal
clubbing experiences. I have a permanent snapshot in my mind from the vibe I remember at the Music Institute in Detroit, or the
Shelter in NYC. So I vibe o of that quite often. In terms of house, it's usually based around strong chord progressions, and very
colorful and expressive sounds. For techno, it can be a mixture of both, or purely abrasive and dance floor driven.
Music is reciprocal. I have coined or phrased a term called "the reciprocal relationship" in music. The reciprocal relationship in
music demonstrates that tones excite chords, and chords excite tones. Here's an example to further elaborate on that: A chord
can invoke a specific feeling within the listener. But the strength or degree in which a feeling is invoked within the listener has a
lot to do with the notes or chord progression that is played upon a specific tone or patch.” Mike Huckaby, 2010.

Release Info
Do you know what time it is? It's debut o'clock. Emitting his first material for Pampa, it's &ME - craftsman of all things deep and sturdy, at the same time connoisseur of emotive touch and virtuoso of sure instincts, one of the scene's central characters for a good amount of years now and one of the main figures of Berlin's Keinemusik-crew. The man has been hitting the bulls eye of public perception several times in the past, meeting everything it takes to get a crowd going with an intent on the detail when it comes to his arrangements and sound. These new two cuts seem nothing less than the essence of his abilities.
There is "In Your Eyes", the name lending A side to this EP, showcasing a rather pensive mood. It's just a few bars for the compound of kickdrum, tuned hi-hat tambourine and shimmering background noise until the first chords of an improvised piano-piece are tenderly laid upon the beat. Add a synth-motive coming back and forth and you'll have the main ingredients to this - in every sense of the word - floor-moving tune. Accordingly, the arrangement won't aim for an all too obvious sensationalism and rather opts for a flowing and intertwining call and response of its elements, ultimately resulting in a staggering impact anyway.
In comparison, "As Above So Below" on the flipside is adding a fair amount of emphasis. It unfolds in a dry and dense sounding beat-architecture that's suspense-packed with shaker sounds and subtextual field recordings. Most certainly, a slip-proof ground for this tune's centre-piece, a scale-riding synthbass sparking an almost anthemic trigger for floor-ecstasy. While details like subtle reverberating tapping and sparkling ambient textures sound like recorded deep down in a dripstone cave, the overall energetic layout pushes relentlessly to the heights of peaktime-grandeur. There you have it: "As Above So Below" - this tune works on every level.

INFO
Cybotron has re-emerged in our contemporary cybercultural age when artifactual futures begin a transition into a new era of
"Meta".
By combining their knowledge of philosophy, science fiction, and mechanical engineering, at a time when electronic instrument
companies were only just beginning to distribute their products to the masses, two prosumer audio technicians named Juan
Atkins and Rik Davis were able to re-engineer Cybotron – a combination of the words “Cyborg” and “Cyclotron” (an atomic
particle accelerator) – to be used as a home studio performance music that would change the course of independently produced
and distributed electronic music.
Dissolving the boundary between singer, songwriter, and producer, Juan Atkins named Cybotron’s future forward funkadelic
sound “techno” in reference to Alvin Toler’s concept of unlikely “techno rebels” against technocracy. Techno is music that
sounds like technology, and its purpose was to help society survive our collision with a universally felt “future shock” by inserting
an audio virus into the cultural matrix.
Techno’s blueprint spread across the Detroit-Berlin Axis between Metroplex and Tresor. As human society began its transition
from a post-industrial to an information-based market economy, Cybotron enabled a thorough system override of the human
senses towards a tangible man-machine hybridity and showed the world how to channel their emotions and imaginations into
new sound technologies and create new ‘sonic’ spatialities where listeners can transport themselves out of the physical world
into the future. The cover of their debut album Enter (1983) transmitted a fragmented view of a body in motion being digitized
mid-stride, dissolving physical and virtual reality into sonic fiction.
Today, the man-machine hybridity of Cybotron is still the truest form of techno, coevolving in conversation with the technological music they created and inspired. The latest data disk marks a new chapter that reflects a techgnostic musical expression of
the knowledge acquired during their decades-long hiatus. Unlike the dance music industrial replications of the Model 500
formula, acknowledging the content marketing expectations that segments music into specific, sellable genres, this techno
music is self-aware. Cybotron processes dance music tropes spawned from its very own blueprint with a meta-tactical precision
out of sync with our current rave new world.
Cybotron’s return demonstrates a studied engagement with what techno was and should be with a peerless update of Juan
Atkins’ initial inventive idea of do-it-yourself electrically reengineered music xeroxed onto both sides of the 12” – uploaded
directly into the alleys of your mind.

SHORT INFO:
More about the world has changed than not in the decade since dance production dyad Frank & Tony released their last full-length record, 2014’s You Go Girl. Despite, or perhaps in spite of, this shifting landscape, house music has managed to stay fundamentally reliable (either a bug or its greatest feature, depending on who you ask). Where previously, Frank & Tony have been celebrated for their contemplative, studious approach to the genre, with 2024’s Ethos, the Brooklyn/Biarritz-based duo return amidst metastatic cultural upheaval to prove out those scholarly credentials — with an album that serves to remind listeners why dancefloors and liberatory politics consistently share the language of movements and revolutions.
Undoubtedly, Ethos is tremendously influenced by the multitude of projects originating from, and supported by, the duo and their label in the decade since You Go Girl– releasing records from a vast diversity of artists (including Nadia Khan, Gry, Villete, Darand Land, Alex Albrecht, DJ Sprinkles and CCL), and Harris becoming curatorial voice of Brooklyn’s premiere venue for audiophiles, Public Records, where he continues to amplify work across a global diaspora (and where the duo maintain a residency of wide praise).
It is this bright energy and focus on the necessity of community and relationships that animates the aptly-titled Ethos. If past Frank & Tony releases have been lauded as ‘a coloring book in which someone has exclusively drawn inside the lines… with extreme precision,’ Ethos deviates by inviting friends in for a game of exquisite corpse. From singer and pianist Eliana Glass, whose androgynous, double-reeded voice freestyles across album opener Olympia, to distinct track features from fellow house masterminds DaRand Land, DJ Aakmael and Lawrence over half of the album’s nine tracks highlight artists in the larger Scissor & Thread circle.
