Javonntte has been producing music and DJing since the early ’90s. Having had a love for music since he was a child growing up, he turned himself into an independent singer, songwriter, producer and even a dancer, where he once toured with Aretha Franklin’s troupe.
Having collaborated with legendary producers Blake Baxter, Amp Fiddler and Andres in his formative years, Garrett has since spread his wings as a solo producer, with a steady string of releases on such labels as Traxx Underground, Quintessentials and Kai Alce’s NDATL.

Continuing to fly the flag for worldwide soulful dance-floor sounds, Jitwam’s globe-hopping label The Jazz Diaries unveil their latest signing, Detroit-based veteran producer Brian 'Javonntte' Garrett. Supplying body moving frequencies since the late nineties, Javonntte began playing piano at age 15 and honed his craft on tour with Aretha Franklin. A collaborator of Amp Fiddler and Luke Solomon, he has previously released on labels such as Eglo Records, Lumberjacks In Hell, Traxx Underground, Defected and Waella’s Choice. His debut on The Jazz Diaries see’s Garrett turn in five hazy, funk-drenched, party-moving jams. From the crunchy midi fanfare of the record’s opener “Reggietune”, through to the blissed-out sweeping synths of “Outerbound”, the EP packs a punch, keeping it’s rock solid, groove-laden sensibilities throughout. Javonntte even throws in a jacked up, Detroit-style reinterpretation of Christopher Cross’s classic track “Ride Link The Wind” (the EP’s first single, due for release April 9th). Trust, this one won’t leave your record bag.

The title track has the same instant magnetism as Hanna’s ‘Stranger’, which helped inaugurate Waella’s Choice in 2017. ‘Jazzpianodance’ takes a more broken approach, incorporating Javonntte’s love for jazz fusion. Something that would have felt right at home in the old Co-Op dances at plastic people.

„All The Colours“ was a concept that came about from Andy Ash bringing together his music and visual art in an attempt to try and identify the common ground between the two. In both mediums, Andy attempts to convey the full range of human identity – at first you see and hear euphoria and playfulness, but look a little closer and you will also notice anger, sadness and tension. On this album, Andy approaches house music as the vehicle to convey many different feelings. These tracks are designed to be played on the dancefloor and bring people together – this is what house music has always been about!
The whole album was made over a two-year period in Andy’s home studio using a mixture of analogue hardware and samples. During this period, Andy was suffering with some significant mental health problems and this album represents his attempts to channel this energy into something productive. This is also the first time Andy has worked with vocalists, bringing a new dimension to his music. Whether it is the old school inspired „The sound“ which features vocalist Erik Rico, or the deep and moody „I’m Here“ featuring Liverpool vocalist Amber Kuti, this album brings many different shades of house music to the table! String compositions is an on-going theme throughout the album. From the first chord on "Love Is 4U", until the very last second of "Spazzing Out", where Byron raps over a beautiful backdrop consisting only of Fender Rhodes, electric bass & strings. Byron jumps seamlessly between different genres throughout the whole album. From the acid house inspired "Sorry Kari", to 70's prog jazz sounding cuts like "Lost In Love". Once you put the needle on side B, you'll hear "Deep In That ***** feat. MDMA" which sounds pretty much like if Dexter Wansel took MDMA in 2019, inside Legowelt's studio and tried to re-create his classic cut "Theme From The Planets".
