The made in Perugia prodigy delivers us once again 3 titles paying homage to the sound of chicago, the fabulous triplet lost tape 1, 2 & 3. On A1, the aptly named Lost tape 1 us leads into the meanders of the jungle house in direct tribute to the great marshall Jefferson all sprinkled with some "detroit" sauce, this peaktime track will delight the most humid and demanding dancefloors. Lost tape 2 is more airy with these sparkling bells and its bass that lifts your guts, mental we tell you ! A bit as if paris gray was remixed in a hovering dub version. On lost tape 3, it is clearly the quintessence of the spirit of simoncino, his genius. This way of creating a universe that is both a tribute to the original chicago house and the italian dream house straight from the 90s. Completely trippy. Chicago house and Detroit techno devotee Simoncino is a master of authentic analogue wizardry. The HotMix Records boss joins the dots between the past and the future with his deep and dreamlike tracks and put out an album on Creme Organization back in 2015, and has remained hugely prolific ever the years. Unknown To The Unknown's latest slab of saucer-eyed nostalgia comes from Daze, a producer whose previous excursions have landed on distorted techno imprint Lobster Theremin. Here, he's in full on early '90s revival mode, melding together dreamy chords, spacey melodies and skittish hardcore rhythms on opener "Leisure Complex". Fellow A-side cut "Centuries Later" concentrates on booming sub-bass and energy-packed jungle breaks, while "XX" bounces around impressively on a wave of early Good Looking chords and rock solid, '93 riddims. Finally, he returns to the 4/4 beats he's famous for with "All The Freqs", an early morning romp through acid house pastures.

Following on from a full-length album of grainy, synth-laden house on Mathematics, and equally unique EPs on Thug and LIES, Simoncino makes his debut on Creme Organization with five suitably esoteric house offerings. Two of the inclusions, Interval I and Interval II, are serene ambient pieces that showcase this Italians serious synth-scaping skills, whilst the other three are gorgeously romantic and nostalgic house tracks made for the more sensitive dancefloors out there. Tape 1 is the meanest, with a growling bassline and splashes of loose-limbed percussion, where Tape II is much more uplifting owing to the celestial patterns that twinkle above muggy and muddled Chicago drums. Tape III is downbeat and melancholic thanks to the subdued, rubbery bassline, but more golden pads light up the thing with plenty of very real, cautiously optimistic emotions. This is house music to take you to another world entirely, and it's a fine place to be.

No More Hits (Italy) are at it again, this time with a debut release on the label from Simoncino. A1: Tales of Mistery - A very house feel on this one! Vocals add to the house vibe, with 808 sounds throughout. Echoed snares and evolving pads add the atmosphere. The bassline carries the track and gives off an 80's vibe. Breakdown stutters the track and groove kicks back in just at the right time! A2: Vae Victis - Very mellow vibe to this track. A slow track, with each element taking its turn to come in throughout the intro. Nice bass line, things start moving with the hats. Very atmospheric, a cool little number! B1: Mind Games - Cool vocal with a nice synth rhythm. Bass line takes things forwards and the percussion is well thought out, nice clicks and generally gives the track an edge! B2: Epic - Disco house vibes on this one. Old school synth sounds backed by a deep bass line. Percussion is wicked. Long synth notes add to the atmosphere. A killer track! B3: Dream - Fat bass line, with synth that adds an flavour of the 80's. Quiet vocals in the background along with a evolving pad sound give a cool vibe.

Simoncino (AKA Nick Anthony) from Italian super edit label No More Hits crosses the atlantic and finds a new home with On The Prowl’s sub-label Party Breaks. What immediately stands out upon first listen is the production style, not being able to tell what is a sample and what has been replayed… much like Tensnake’s mega hit. The Simoncino sound is firmly rooted in proto-house and 80’s R&B. With ingredients like ancient drum machines, arpeggiated melodies, and cheap 80’s pads, his concoction boils over with a certain cheekiness that makes listeners grin from ear to ear. All four tracks are subtle hits in their own right. Excellent EP!
