Who would have thought that Gerd Janson and Phillipp Lauer, aka The Tuff City Kids, delivering a
"Rocker" mix for Alter Ego, wich is not only one of their best up to this date remixwork, but also probably one of the biggest electro-summerhits in 2016.
The Tuff City Kids production work is quite similary eclectic like in Roman Flügel and Jörn Elling Wuttke's original version.
They know exactly how to juggle with different styles, until they come up with a fresh new sound that
transforms an ordinary rave into an unforgettable happening.
In this case they are mixing real performed krautrockdrums, 90's prototrance-balearicstrings and an unexpectedly new, enthusiastic way of working with Alter Ego's trademark melodyhook.
This melody-theme is dripping formally out of every programmed bass and synthesizer line without beeing to cheesy, superficial or over the top.
Even their 808 electro-remix for the track "Gate 23" is keeping to the premise of the legendary New York punk rock band The Ramones, that a good party track should not illustrate the effects of psychedelic drugs, the music has to be the pill itself.
The rich details and playfulness of the mixes are showing Gerd Janson and Phillipp Lauer as real

In charge again of their entire back catalogue, under monikers like Acid Jesus, Sensorama and Alter Ego, they're starting to re-release all the classic albums sometimes accompanied by newly curated vinyl Ep's.

The singles will feature unreleased material, forgotten classics and brand new remix-projects of favourite producers and friends in perfectly re-mastered 12"- sound.

The first vinyl release on Alter Ego Recordings presents a re-release of two Alter Ego classics remixed by Luke Slater in 1993 and 1994.
For many people he is the epitome of hard and driving British electronica.
His music, especially under his Planetary Assault System moniker, influenced just about everyone in techno over the last twenty years.
Things kick off on the a-side on this record with a Basic Channel style sounddesign.
The dubbed chords, moved by a full-bodied bassline and frequent cowbells featured in his "Ortoe Circuit Remix" of "Soulfree" are showing that Luke's more soulfull side is as good as his tough mode. The slamming "Dinosaur Mix" was already in boxes of jocks like Sven Väth and Andrew Weatherall and shows Slater with the foot on the pedal. Cascades of flanged sounds drifting in and out of focus, while no-nonsense drums and percussion driving dance floors in frenzied submission.

The first Wolf + Lamb release of the new decade comes from the young and gifted Nicolas Jaar, who gives the world ‘Time For Us.’ Dreamt up this summer while living at the Marcy, Wolf + Lamb’s infamous fake hotel, Nicolas Jaar gives us two slow and enveloping productions, adding a new dimension to his signature sound. “I think both tracks evoke a new American in me, or the one that never left while I was in Santiago. ‘Mi Mujer’, with its Spanish title and lyrics was inspired by the countless Puerto Ricans and Dominicans hanging out near the Marcy.”‘Time For Us’ too has embodies this new American, his lyrics sung in English for the first time. The track’s tempo slides down the scale at its peak and sensual deep spoken passages ooze through the gaps. “’Time For Us’ was an instant classic, even though it's quite different from what we would normally feature as an 'A' side, we were both pretty sure about it as soon as we heard it,” says Zev, one half of Wolf + Lamb, “It feels like Nico's departure from making electronic or dance music into more of a songwriter.” An intimate track, ‘Time For Us’ moves away from formulaic club music and inspires with its dynamic approach. “Its different from my other releases in that it comments on club culture as much as it praises it,” says Nico. Ibadan announces the release of a new remix by Dennis Quin of Kerri Chandler & Jerome Sydenham ft. Troy Denari - You're In My System on vinyl in December, 2019.

Quin, a self-professed house addict and die-hard Kerri Chandler fan since the early nineties, had been searching for a new vocalist to work with. He turned to Simon Birkumshaw, label manager and A&R of Chandler's Madhouse Records, who recommended Troy Denari, the original vocalist of the classic Ibadan track "You're In My System". When Denari revealed that had just resung the vocals, Quin was inspired to remix the track.

Quin's aim with this remix was to update the track for his sets and give it contemporary production values in line with his current digital sets. "It's always tricky to put your hands on a huge record like this," he says. "It's a legendary track that everyone knows, so I was extremely careful in terms of mixing, timing, and all the rest." The result is a modern version of the classic that is very true to the original. At the same time, Quin makes his mark by bringing his own drum and percussion into the mix.

The remix versions cover all the bases for various digital distribution formats, including atmospheric dub, club and instrumental mixes, plus a special three-minute edit for Spotify.

Working together for the first time, the members of the musical team were excited to exchange their ideas. "Troy, Kerri, Jerome and I have gained so much out this intense collaboration. It has developed into a deep friendship that is all about house music, good vibes and pride in our achievements. Each of us is fulfilled by our individual roles in this project. I'm really proud to be part of this family."

Christine Pedersen, managing director of Ibadan Records, is excited about Quin's first release on the label. "It's always a pleasure to welcome new and talented collaborators into the fold. And I love the new vocal. Troy's singing brings a fresh spin to the track."

Info: It's not often that silly, boyish dreams come true. But, if you take a closer look at our past 12 months, dreams seem to come true every other day. We've had a great year with releases on such great labels and had the opportunity to play our music all over the world and we've enjoyed every minute of this musical rollercoaster. And today, we've got another dream that's turning into reality: We're starting our own label. This is Heist Recordings, and you're looking at our very first release. We're extremely proud to share this two track EP of our own music with you and we hope you'll like it as much as we do. The break up is a track that checks all the boxes of the signature DS sound. An infectious set of airy chords, a bumpy bass-line and a lush female vocal give the track that feeling that bridges everything we love about the house from back in the days with the things that get everyone excited today. The make up is a deeper track, but still a genuine house tune, with some repetitive almost hypnotic vocals and stabs and of course, a pumping groove. You'll lose track of everything halfway through the break, but as soon as the beat kicks in, you know its business time. This is just the first step. Enjoy it, and be sure to keep an eye out for more of Heist in the near future.
