Originally released in 1976 on Philly Groove, the track was picked up by Warner Bros in the U.S. and they quickly issued a now sought after promo 12” with “First Choice Theme”, “Ain’t He Bad” & “Let Us Entertain You”.

On this fresh, limited edition yellow vinyl 7” Simpson works the track with his talents using the skills he learned by working beside legends like Tom Moulton and Vince Montana to strip the track down and let the fabulous rhythm section shine through. Giving breaks where needed but keeping the track dancer friendly and only using the best parts for this 7” mix.

The B side Simpson works his magic again with a different but similar more instrumental version…

Modern day Disco Remix king Mike Maurro strikes again! This time, Atlantic Records and Brookside team up and have Mike tackling two classic tracks by The Trammps: “Hooked For Life” & “Soul Searching’ Time”. “Hooked For Life” was released on Atlantic’s “Exclusive Disco Series” of promo only 12”s in the U.S. back in 1975 and “Soul Searchin’ Time” was also released as a promo only 12” in the U.K. on WEA’s ultra rare “Disco Special Cut” series. Both tracks get the “Maurro Remix” treatment with extended intro’s, instrumental passes and breakdowns, and finally mastered in Philadelphia by Mike Tarsia of the world famous Sigma Sound Studios.

Brookside Records is back at it again, this time digging in the Sony vaults and coming up with a pair of Odyssey remixes by NYC Mixmaster Mike Maurro.

The A-side features an Extended version of the ultra-classic ‘Native New Yorker’ given a simple Maurro treatment it needed with a long extended intro, break and extended instrumental sections.

Switch to the B to find ‘Use It Up and Wear It Out’, a #1 track in U.K. back in the day, also gets a re-work with bangin’ loud drums and more subtle changes that give it a reworked feel without taking away from the original.

Mastered in Philadelphia by Sigma Sounds own Mike Tarsia, with custom retro artwork it is a must for any collector.

Another pair of underground Disco dance classics get treated to the MM reworking magic! Both these edits are exclusive to this 12" and have never before been released in any format!! Detroit natives The Jones Girls have long been loved for their musical output, during their long and successful career they've released a slew of well known and classic material since the early 1970's and have worked with a host of legendary artists including Leon Haywood, Lamont Dozier, Curtis Mayfield, Diana Ross, Aretha Franklin and many many more. NYC's edit king Mike Maurro may not have been around as long as them but he has skilfully woven his magic with 2 of the girls' biggest club jams, gently reworking from the master tapes respectfully he's delivered 2 stunning edits of "Dance turned into a romance" and "Nights over Egypt".
"Dance turned into a romance" on the a-side was originally released on Philadelphia International in 1980 and is a bonafide slow burner, Mike has the crisp drum break upfront in the mix, making it perfectly mixable and setting the tone for the deep bass guitar licks to creep in. This wonderful rearrangement suddenly gives way to the slick piano, guitar and of course, those Philly strings! Originally written and produced by the legendary Gamble and Huff team this is classy stuff. Beautifully edited here by MM, retaining the feel of the original composition yet adding a welcome 2016 twist! "Nights over Egypt" - a true blue club classic, takes up the b-side! This one should need no intro, another solid piece of gold from the Philly International archives from 1981. This time the girls team up with Philly genius Dexter Wansel for a smoothed out slice of Disco dripping with sophisticated Jazz sensibilities. Here, Mike uses what sounds like some alternative takes from the studio session and succeeds in rearranging an all time classic jam with class! We are treated to a nice long instrumental intro with flourishes of Rhodes, strings and super tight, snapping drums with the vocals coming in almost 3 minutes into the track! Absolutely essential stuff here, another Mike Maurro master mix sureshot!

Hailing from Florida, the Brookside imprint have dug deep into the master tapes and let NYC master-mixer Mike Maurro loose on a couple of stone cold classics! Maurro, a Queens based DJ and mixer since 1986 has become one of the top remixers out there today with his own, faithful takes on numerous dance classics from the last 30+ years. Here he lends his magic touch to a pair of well loved club classics while adding his own original flavour. Dan Hartman's "Vertigo/Relight My Fire" is up first on side-A, featuring the unmistakable vocals of NYC diva Loleatta Holloway. Maurro's mix brings the vocals in earlier, dubbing them out creating a super trippy atmosphere with a slightly different musical arrangement over the course of almost 14 minutes! On side-B, we have the legendary Evelyn "Champagne" King's "Shame", with a slightly longer, beat led intro for the DJ's. A true extended mix with a slightly different arrangement Maurro's mix of this classic is a killer. Beautifully faithful and mixed with love and an understanding of the dancefloor and the classics! BrookSide Records announces the 12” vinyl release of the brand new Ashley Beedle remix of the “legendary” Gloria Gaynor’s recording, “Love Is Just A Heartbeat Away”. The original recording was produced and written by music veterans Reid Whitelaw and Norman Bergen. Gloria Gaynor is most well known for her “anthem” recording, “I Will Survive”, as well as her “classic” medley’s, and many, many other memorable recordings.
The new vinyl 12” is a double “A” side release, as it is coupled with the Heaven ‘n Hell Orchestra’s instrumental version of ‘Heartbeat”, also remixed by Ashley Beedle. Both the Gloria Gaynor and Heaven ‘n Hell recordings are timed at 7:12. Coincidentally, another Whitelaw & Bergen produced and written track, “Whatcha Gonna Do”, is a rework by, and included in Ashley Beedle’s Re-Edits CD album, “Message In The Music”, recently released on Harmless (Demon).

Local Talk are proud to present a live recording with Soulphiction & Netzer from 2018, recorded live just a month before the official release of 'Bizzness' the first of several releases Soulphiction and Local Talk released together.

Bizzness is by many considered a classic and had all the trade marks of a Soulphiction tune with its dusty soul and funk-infused house ingredients.
This live version really shows the vision and forward thinking of Michel Baumann using his Soulphiction moniker.

Also included on this release is a - as far as we know it - unreleased track called Dileila Emergency Dub.
A track built around a heady deep house theme that captures the sweaty, back-in-the-day feel we all love to hear in a track.

For over twenty years on the turntables, I.G.N.A has imposed his sound in the best clubs in Europe. Born in Sicily and raised in Emilia, I.G.N.A’s music is appreciated by many important artists with whom he shares the main stages. As a producer he has released successful EPs on labels such as Deeperfect, Moan and Greatstuff.

This new single is inspired by old school sounds and synths combined with house in a future perspective.

Rewind to 1995. Kevorkian's 'Wave Music' imprint has come into existence with a handful of releases. No-one could imagine that his self-produced 'FK EP' - the next release on the label - would be a stone cold classic. Easily one of the most consistent, exciting and solid EP's to come out of NYC during this golden era of dance music. Across 4 tracks we are taken on a sound journey through a world that is undoubtedly informed by FK's time as an engineer, DJ and most importantly, a music lover. EP opener 'Hypnodelic' brings us into this world, a deep, driving cut that fuses the dubbed out vocals of Freddie Turner against FK's keyboards and immaculate drum programming, oozing cosmic electronic soul, this track was destined to be a future classic. 'Mindspeak' also boasts some tough drums and with a respectful nod to Chicago is an incredibly mixed and arranged peak-time cut that will drive your dancefloor into deep space again and again. 'Edge Of Time' welcomes us to the flipside of the EP, wild Latin percussions, tablas and old school horn stabs drive this monstrous cut, not to mention cavernous dub FX and that huge bassline that just doesn't let up. Essential. 'Moov' rounds things out on a more subdued, stripped back vibe. Reversed percussions and spaced-out synth chords lace this beautifully understated and warm track, one that builds into a crescendo of melodies and hypnotic rhythms and the perfect way to close what has been a truly special musical journey. This essential reissue of the 'FK EP' has been fully licensed, sanctioned and remastered in conjunction with FK from the original master sources by Optimum Mastering, Bristol UK, repressed onto high quality vinyl and packaged as the 1995 release was. Two all-time George Duke greats, 'I Want You for Myself' & 'Brazilian Love Affair', get the official remastered, reissue treatment.

First up, 'I Want You For Myself' Duke's 1979 jazz funk, R&B tinged gem has got all the ingredients of classic from his illustrious catalogue. A funked up guitar and exuberant percussion, compliment Lynn Davis' fabulously soulful vocals perfectly to make this a love song that's sweeter than most. A Duke classic wouldn't be complete without a killer, keys solo and 'I Want You For Myself' shows off his talents in abundance. The infamous Tom Moulton takes on edit duties splicing it into a 10-minute exploration of this fusion powerhouse, extending and enhancing elements in the mix, alongside adding an epic breakdown in a way that only he knows how.

On the B side, the stone-cold killer 'Brazilian Love Affair' is a Latin American, jazz funk classic. Recorded in Rio de Janeiro, Duke drafted in a host of greats to guest on the track, each bringing something unique to the table. From Airto Moreira's expert latin drumming, to Byron Miller's heavyweight bass and Roland Bautista's overdriven guitar. Duke supplements this to a tee with his blissful vocals and an otherworldly Rhodes solo. Much sampled, much loved, this is a masterpiece that needs a place in the collection.

Bolina Records, born in Italy and based in Stockholm, is the brainchild of the Cerrado Studio crew, a dynamic team of artists and DJs who have been organizing events and innovative initiatives since 2008.

Veteran DJ-producer Sebra Cruz (formerly of Margot and A&R for Bolina Records), after releasing his debut album with Life And Death by Dj Tennis, has teamed up with his protégé, Giacomo Cancellieri. Over the years, Cancellieri has become one of Sebra's favorite artists, with Sebra often describing him as a truly brilliant mind, consistently impressed by the new tracks he produces. Giacomo has notable releases on Rebellion and Margot Records.

"Rollerball," titled after Norman Jewison's 1975 film, carries a powerful anti-war message. It includes 4 versions plus an acapella, the latter intended to encourage DJ-producers of various genres to incorporate it in their tracks, thereby spreading the anti-war message on dance floors worldwide.

The original mix captures the essence of intimate club settings — intense yet lucid, with a sound texture fitting for an underground label. It continuously and forcefully spreads the anti-war message with deep seriousness.

The Funky Vocal Mix offers an Italo-French vibe, blending the smooth ambiance of 2000s dance music with a raw vocal tone.

Buck's version, hailing from Otranto, a quaint seaside town in the extreme south of Italy and owner of Substrato label, is marked by solid, rolling grooves that complement a deep and refined atmosphere.

Delphi's remix, one half of Tiger And Woods with Marco Passarani, completes the set. Its arrangement skillfully connects Chill and Detroit styles, infusing the project with a sense of robustness and insight.
