Fachwerk boss Mike Denhert rolls up on TECH-UM 006 with for another heavy selection of intuitive techno jams on his 'TESTET' EP. With the focus squarely on the dance floor the Berlin-born wizard's latest creations makes for another unique voyage into cutting edge techno. Kostik with its dark wall of sound opens the release sporting an gargantuan bassline and metronomic percussion that resonates through the speakers. Freakin' Me offers a slow and low machine funk strut, with its heads-down groove and sassy vocal chops. On the flip Mike hits out hard with Mino. A heady concoction that's one part Chicago, one part Detroit, one part Berlin, coming together to create the perfect party piece. Dehnert then closes with one final gem. Mike Dehnert returns to his own Fachwerk label with a new full length LP celebrating the imprint's 10th anniversary, Intro sets the tone of the album, providing an profusion of tidal tones and textures that soak the listener in sound. Before long though, you're listening to the percussive stabs and pensive drums of Between No Words. Here we hear for the first time on the record the subtle but remarkable vocals of Albert Vogt, who returns throughout the LP. Listeners will also be reminded of Dehnert's skill for crafting complex and emotional music with very few elements, which becomes only more evident as this LP opens up. From here Dehnert traverses through dubbed out techno, deep house and downtempo, all with an experimental playfulness and a lightness of touch that only a producer with his talent and raw experience could pull off. The album peaks with the storming Providing Home 2. With swirling, unpredictable arpeggios, hard hitting drums and a sparingly used vocal hook, this is the track that'll ignite ecstasy across dancefloors for years to come. From here, Dehnert quickly cleanses the palette with the beatless Starground, a ringing and pulsing synth piece, pierced by all manner of klangs and bleeps. This perfectly sets up the album's final epic, Laxwax. Another one aimed squarely at the club, but this time it's for darker dancefloors. In stark contrast to its predecessors on the record, this track is insular, hypnotic and raw. Not content to end on such a note, Dehnert provides one last exertion. Outro is bombastic and pounding, with a rave inspired synth line and heavily swung percussion. Topped with cut up and percussive vocals, the track lives up to it's name summing up the LP and adding to it at the same time. A double album full of forward thinking techno hybrids from Berlin! Three years after his last full-length album on Delsin, tireless techno producer Mike Dehnert is back. The 104th release on Delsin, entitled Lichtbedingt, counts 12 tracks and is yet another subtle evolution away from the chord driven, functional sound he has championed before now. Since his last album, Dehnert has continued to steer his Fachwerk label through the techno undergrowth and it has now amassed more than 25 releases in all. At the heart of the label's output has been Dehnert's own increasingly experimental techno and this new album is testament to the producer's continued exploration of the form. Where Framework was, in the words of Mike himself, ''focussed on the heavy techno form'', this album explores broken bass, swinging house and beatless electronic experimentalism amongst other things. ''I love to release music. I still enjoy the album writing process very much,'' says Mike, before adding, ''I have noticed that sometimes the success of a track depends on the light at club, which is why the album is called Lichtbedingt, meaning 'depends on light!''' The album starts off with a suitably sombre intro that features cold, slowly shifting synths. They set an uneasy and moody tone before 'Construction' settles into a fat, swaggering. From there you get lost in broken, ruptured, malfunctioning bits of hardware that spit out random hi hats, bleeps and gurgles and then eventually get spat out the other side into a cantering bit of dubwise techno with paranoid vocal snippets. Moving along, the album throws plenty of diverse influences into the mix: 'Movement' is freaky and dynamic, skipping and pumping, ducking and diving through all sorts of occult synth sounds and shadowy vocal loops then 'Single Action' is like a sledge hammer groove run through with harmonic elements that glint and glisten like diamonds in the rough. Classic sounding Dehnert tracks like 'ReRe' remind us where this producer has come from, whil st the breezy house swagger of 'Emlo' show us where he might be headed. Key to this album and Dehnert's output as a whole is, besides the killer grooves, the production: crisp and clean, full blooded and always outstanding, it makes his tracks leap out of the speakers and into minds, bodies and souls without relying on the usual tropes or same old cheap tricks.

After a few months of releasing collaborative EPs alongside Sascha Rydell and Roman Lindau, Mike Dehnert marks a quarter century of releases on his own label with Fachwerk 25, a full-length album comprised of 13 tracks. This new album sees Mike experimenting somewhat. Away from the dubbed out, functional and raw techno funk of his usual output, Fachwerk 25 shows some concession to the album format, with more mysterious tracks of ambient buried amongst bits of acid, rave and plenty of unhinged sound design. After the dystopian and scene-setting intro, there’s the chugging house and nagging synths of ‘Fraction’ that are both dark and beautiful at the same time. From there, there’s slowed, melancholic dub in the form of ‘Modulat” and the beat-less, underwater sounding ‘Courant’ with its icy pads and wide lateral spread. The title track is more what you’d expect of Dehnert, with well-swung kicks and grainy synt h chords rolling along like basement techno should, before the squelchy industrial madness of ‘Grundform’ breaks the stride of the album once again, taking you off to a different place entirely. The second half is just as varied and unpredictable, ranging from raucous peak time stuff to more nuanced and cerebral fair that always manages to bares the hallmarks of Fachwerk: quality, invention and unpredictability. Having established his Berlin label as a go-to and no nonsense outlet for fans of a certain type of stripped down but inviting techno, Fachwerk 25 will likely bring a whole new sort of attention on Dehnert and his ever on-point imprint.

New school techno producer, DJ and live performer Mike Dehnert is to release his first album proper on Delsin Records in Spring 2011. In just three years, Berlin based artist Dehnert has gone from unknown talent to underground hero with (as revered record store Hardwax calls it) his very own ‘raw techno’ sound making waves on labels like his own imprint Fachwerk, hallowed Dutch outlet Clone Basement Series, as well as dub techno stable Echochord Colour, super reticent outlet MD2 and now Delsin, where he finds himself at home amongst the future music of talented cohorts Redshape, A Made Up Sound, Delta Funktionen and more. Framework - as you’d expect of a man who performs genuinely live for hours, often only ever calling on his own tweaked, edited and skewed productions - is an uncompromising album made up of pure techno tracks of the sort you’d expect to hear on the dancefloors of places like Berghain or Tresor. They go from pulsing and classic sounding to skipping and glitchy, through greyed-out and sandy via swinging and syncopated but always with a sense of restraint and control whether they are abstract, apocalyptic, atmospheric or whatever else. Drawing from a dusty, dirty toolbox of sounds, the echo-y, cavernous chambers and dusky warehouse aesthetics of Dehnert’s moody music betrays the purity and simplicity of his arrangements. Although his records are undeniably functional, at the same time, they are neither nondescript nor forgettable: somehow, through masterful sound designs and an accomplished knack for blending real tension and atmosphere with his obvious Basic Channel and Berghain influences, Mike Dehnert manages to lock you into whatever mood takes his fancy with apparent ease. Make no bones about it (he doesn’t) Framework is an album of tracks. Each one is made with various dancefloors in mind, and each is informed by the hundreds of hours Dehnert has spent working away in such places. The results are to-the-point without being unsubtle, each track has a job to do and does so efficiently; nothing is surplus to requirements and nothing is lacking. Whilst outlining a Framework for his many live sets to come, this debut album also makes for engaging listening and confirms Mike Dehnert to be one of contemporary techno’s most exciting current incumbents.

Copenhagen’s Echocord Colour returns this mid November with Brendom Moeller’s ‘Magic City’ EP, featuring four originals from the New York based artist.
Brendon Moeller has long been a purveyor of authentic dub-infused Techno since stepping onto the scene via his 2006 ‘Sweetspot / Humpback’ EP via Echocord and has since gone on to release on reputable imprints such as Third Ear, Kimochi Sound, Delsin’s Ann Aimee, Mule Musiq and of course his very own Steadfast.
Here though Moeller makes a welcome return to where it all began with some fresh material for Echocord’s Colour sub- label. ‘Caravan’ takes the lead on the release and in typical Brendon Moeller fashion we’re treated to densely layered dub chords, throbbing subs and expansive atmospherics whilst robust drums drive the composition along. Magic City’ follows and ups the energy levels even further with pounding industrial drums layered underneath billowing dub stabs and eerie drones. ‘Magic City In Dub’ follows and as the name suggests offers up a reduced take on the composition, dropping the tempo and shining light on the billowing echoes of the original whilst stirring in some off-kilter rhythsm and additional processing for good measure. Lastly, ‘Departure’ closes the package, with haunting synth drones, bumpy rhythms and murky vocals wandering throughout the seven-minute composition. More

Echocord’s Colour series returns late April with the ‘Epibenthos Mbira’ EP by Hess & Harrison. Detroit’s Luke Hess has long been a respected name in underground Techno, releasing on the likes of FXHE, Deeplabs, Minimood and of course Echocord, here we see him joining forces with fellow Detroit native Joshua Harrison under their new Hess & Harrison alias for a fresh four-track EP on Echocord Colour. ‘Benthos’ leads, merging snaking dub chords and swirling white noise amidst robust drums and acid-tinged stab sequences. ‘Hadal’ follows next, embracing a more dynamic feel to contrast the groove-driven opener, this time round the duo lay focus on expansive reverberations, elongated delays, hypnotic strings and subtly nuanced textures throughout. ‘Nekton’ kicks on the flip-side, delving even deeper via driving low-end tones, murky atmospherics and shuffled percussion before ‘Upwelling’ rounds out the EP, bringing things back to a more loop driven feel as bubbling echoes, gritty bass stabs and sharp chords ebb and flow around crisp drums. Echocord’s Colour sub-label returns early June with a four- track EP from Eindhoven’s Albert Van Abbe in the shape of ‘Klangbilder’. Dutch Techno artist Albert Van Abbe has nearly two decades of experience under his belt in various forms of musical and visual expression, releasing on his own Vanabbe imprint, Figure Jams, Semantica and No Comment, as well as playing live and DJing at hot spots across the globe such as Berghain, Tresor, DGTL and Awakenings festival. ‘Klangbilder 1’ leads with a robust rhythmic drive, employing bumpy toms, shuffled hats and lumpy kicks at its core as vacillating synths, tension building drones and menacing pizzicato strings develop throughout. ‘Klangbilder 2’ takes things deeper next, retaining the dusty drums sound of the previous cut whilst stirring in airy ethereal pads and choppy, resonant stab sequences. ‘Klangbilder 3’ kicks off the B-Side with modulating synth whirrs, emotive organ tones and a muted drum tones throughout before ‘Klangbilder 4’ closes the package, taking things beatless and cinematic via emotive synth leads, droning subs and expansive echoes. Echocord’s Colour sub-label continues this November with Seph’s ‘Teleport’ EP, featuring three originals from the Argentinian producer. Buenos Aires born producer Sebastian Gelante aka Seph has been kicking up a storm in the Techno world since the turn of the millennium releasing material on labels such as Dumb Unit, Harry Klein, Items & Things, his own Aula Magna imprint and now he joins the Echocord roster on sub-label Echocord Colour following recent releases from Luke Hess and Stephen Brown. Across the ‘Teleport’ EP Seph delivers his signature smooth, dubbed out and intricate style and?the title-track takes the lead with billowing pads, bumpy off- kilter rhythms and choppy stab sequences galore before ‘Delta’ strips back the vibe to raw drums and murky synth textures while ethereal pads ebb and flow through the composition. ‘Motion’ rounds out the package on the flip side, taking a straighter approach rhythmically this time round to allow the snaking dub stabs, rumbling low-end tones and evolving hats to take the lead throughout. Scott is mostly known for his own BLKRTZ label, but have been releasing on many other labels over the years. Echocord Colour025 is produced by a good friend and a new artist on Echocord Colour, Lasse Buhl from Copenhagen. After some years in the techno scene as one half of the group Northern Structures, who releases on Adama X' label Sonic Groove, Lasse Buhl releases his debut EP "R38" on Echocord Colour, inspired by roughness and simplicity. The remix comes from no other than Milton Bradley from Berlin. The "R38" track ia a driving, stomping, dry killer Techno track, while "Em.A Ai" is a more experimantal breaky track, with dubby elements. The remix is a pure 4/4 Techno track, a typical Milton Bradley peaktime production. More

We are very proud to welcome back one of our greatest artists and good friend Luke Hess from Detroit. The Ancient Greek word for Passion is "Paskho", which means to suffer. When we have passion for something in life we are willing to suffer for it. However, suffering can produce many positive things in our character, because as we suffer through this life we grow stronger. This EP was created with a passion for not only the analog machines that created it, but also for the people on the dance-floor who will hear the music. This EP was created out of a loving passion for others. Out of an artist's toil and suffering it is possible to create special moments in other people's lives. The Paskho track comes in 2 versions.
