Since the early years of our Label Tigerskin has been one of our most prominent artists. An integral part of Dirt Crew, he has over 15 releases on the label, either as solo artist or in collaboration with Till von Sein. He has put out some of his best tracks on the label, as well as his debut album "All Those Goodbyes" two years ago. With his new EP "Alex Krüger" shows his many talents in dance music and proves he is not a man of musical boundaries, it ranges from Deep and Tech House through to Techno, with influences from all over. On the vinyl, 'Faint feat. Grambow' is a bright and soulful dance floor gem, the melodic Detroit style house track is ripe with tuned percussion, electrifying drum motifs and a live key jam from feature artist Grambow. The A2, 'Stay', is a subtle, classy, vocal deep house cut perfect for the early morning. The flip holds 'Descent', which resides in more spacious territory, steady and deep with acid and techno undertones, and our very special vinyl only bonus track, Tigerskin's biggest hit, 'This Place Is Empty Without You'. It is already release number 24 for Luca Agnelli´s Etruria Beat , what a long and exciting journey thru sounds . Along the way , the label had the chance to discover a few new talents and help develop them . Amongst them , Venezia resident Bastinov . For his second release with ETB , the young italian producer offers 4 amazing tracks : The ep starts with Prisma , a strong tune with a huge analogue synth repeating itself
over a swing 909 beat , until a dreamy pad hits the break to release some more action . This tune will be featured on Sven Vath´s Sound of the Season 16 on Cocoon ) . B2 sees Andre Kronert , the man behind so many labels ( most of them are a secret )on the remix duty of the title song . Andre chose to reinterpret the original in a very minimal way : an hypnotic chord , delays , a very strong Basic Channel influentced beat with a pad coming and going .
The flip side starts with Sphere : a solid tune based on a ring Modulator synth sounds thru tape delays floating over a very energetic groove disturbed by strong claps and effects . To end this story , Bastinov delivers Triangle which has a very techno flavour from the beginning . The beat is heavy , the kick is delayed , the hat is strong . After a few minutes a Detroit influenced chord develops and gives the tune a unexpected twist , the forefathers of techno are in the place . The music keeps on evolving with some classic strings and effects . A very strong release again for Etruria Beat thanks to our very own Bastinov !! that makes the rhythm obsessive and powerful. The second track is the original "Fly over", built around the melody and a solar chord hooked to a powerful 909 groove . It will be a nice breath of fresh air for the darkest consoles. The B1 is the track from which the EP take his name, "The Bridge", is nothing but search for the essential. Very few sounds that will make the atmosphere dark, an incredibly present kick and some 909 distorted hi-hats that ensures a breathless pace, until the last second. Finally, the "House" reinterpretation from the foot of Mount Vesuvius of the talent Dast, who comes up with his version , influenced by a synth full of atmosphere but time-pressing at the same time.. Very few artists have influenced the sound of house and techno as much as Roman Flügel. Having been active since the early 90's under various aliases, few have been revered so widely as a DJ, live performer, producer, remixer, intellectual and record label owner. The record labels he helped found, Ongaku, Klang and Playhouse, are pivotal imprints in the electronic music scene, and his ability to gracefully incorporate and master most styles of 4/4 has seen him create a range of genres from techno, house, electro, ambient, IDM, downtempo, and acid house. Respected both as a solo artist and collaborator, this veteran of the scene has just ticked the label's bucket list with an incredible double vinyl for Hypercolour.
6 tracks of highly polished techno/electronica cover a range of tempos and styles on 'Monday Brain', a double pack vinyl to be released this October. Flügel demonstrates his ability to morph his sound with the times, and displays his breadth of sound design magnificently over the release.
Cosmic IDM sensibilities are explored on EP opener 'Teenage Engineering', building in harmony and texture, and a fine example of Flügel's melodic sound, whilst 'Make It Happen' captures more psychedelic touches over a solid groove.
'Man Sees The Face God Sees The Heart' goes as deep as the title suggests, rhythmic sounds melodically ride over minimal beats and luscious bass in a stirring slice of modern electronica, whilst 'Church Of Dork' wigs out like the very best Chicago house records, its synth motif worming around the jacked up beats. 'Picnic For Players' comes ready with blissful and melancholic riffs, dipped in warm reverb for a classic sounding piece, and the EP closes in fine style with the shadowy 'Vegetarian Leather Jackets'.

The rough facts are that his been dropped in a lot of the big places to shrieks and puzzled looks, a lot of dancing and good time having. This is mostly due to the A2, Back Quality, a track forever beyond your grasp - if you are asking yourself what the hell is going on in this track, we can't really help you. A bomb settling somewhere between early morning weirdness and deep / freaky warm up game changer. It's complimented by a storming Times Are Ruff remix - drums, drumz, DRUMS! The Dutch guys turned the whole thing into a beautiful techno tool - #justdjthings . The A1, let's not forget, is a Johan Kaseta aka Gravity Hannes aka DJ Tapee Tapey Tape flip of an older DJ Assam aka Nizza Overload aka DJ Alley Loop tune. A track just below the water, suddenly breaking out, splashing everywhere, just to dive back into the dark, all-encompassing sea. Last up, then, is Kord Dreyer, a triple wombo combo of Johan Kaseta, DJ Assam and Liem aka Lars Lavendel aka Fatso Frolunda, a straight forward groove affair - were it not for those unsettling, beautiful chords, the sudden change of mood during the break and the fact that it was coproduced by a bird on the windowsill. Mojuba is celebrating its 10th birthday in a very special way by releasing the magnificent selftitled debut album by analouge rockers February & Mars. Hailing from the stunningly beautiful west of Ireland, the Galway group's sound is awash with its environment, ranging from the rolling limestone mountains to the wild Atlantic sea. Core members Carl Ramberg and Jack Considine use classic drum machines and vintage synthesisers to carve their music, which is inspired by Detroit, Eno, Guns 'n' Roses and interplanetary love! However, it's their use of more conventional techniques, vocal, guitars, piano etc that give February & Mars their dreamy signature sound, which is forming a hybrid of electronic music, psychedelic rock, indie pop and cosmic disco with an upbringing fostered by house and techno club nights! Studio Styrka springs a leak with three new tracks from Villa Åbo, the mainstay of veteran Swedish analogue unit Frak. Released by Australian label Noise In My Head, 'Sibilant' is the product of a mutual appreciation for Severed Heads and Terse Tapes, both of which propelled a 13 year old Jan Svensson to form Frak back in 1987.

On 'Warming Up Signal', Svensson sounds the nuclear alarm with an unforgiving techno meltdown that leaves no survivors. The flip gives our disintegrated minds some relief with 'Drum-Magnet', a paranoid beat track recorded in collaboration with Karlskrona punk rocker Nebula, and the hypnotic 'Syndrome Beautiful'.

Its a bold and brave producer who takes on the task of remixing a stone-cold classic cut from the annuals of House history, but thats just what Joris Voorn, KiNK, Phil Weeks and Ambivalent have done with their fresh versions of DJ Dozia's Ovum debut 'Pop Culture'. Originally released back in 1998 'Pop Culture' rapidly gained cult status on the underground. Created by fellow Philly resident Dozia Blakey, the raw and sparse original, at over ten minutes, was made for the dark, strobe-lit, sweat-on-walls rooms where it found favour. Backed by the equally popular Size-9 remix, 'Pop Culture' was, and still is, a record that never leaves the box for many. Now, with a fresh set of remixes, its set for a glorious return. The original twelve inch is still one of the most sought after twelve inches on discogs. So what did persuade our set of remixers to take on this challenge? Well, lets ask them…
Joris Voorn - It was a defining moment finding Dj Dozia's Pop Culture in my local record store in 1998. The simplicity of the record was evident, but the few elements in combination with the classic Peech Boys acapella sounded like more than the sum of it's parts. It was the blueprint of forward thinking house music, a sound that would inspire me to make tracks like 'Sweep The Floor' 10 years later. I remember asking Josh in 2007 if I could remix Pop Culture, but the remix offer came in much later. It turned out be an almost impossible task remixing a track so simple and powerful, it simply couldnt be improved. So I tried stepping away from the original sound and create something that is more like a nod to the original.
Phil Weeks - "This is without a doubt one of my favourite all-time 'classic' records. Since day one. So I was very happy to be asked to come on board with a remix. That's also the reason why I stayed pretty close to the OG version." Ambivalent - "Pop Culture is one of my all-time favorite records, not just on Ovum, but in the history of dance music. I regularly hassled Josh about finding the parts because I always wanted to just play with them. When he finally found them on an old DAT, I went crazy. It is an insurmountable challenge to improve on the original, all I could do was pay homage in my own way."
Whether its staying respectfully close to the original or taking it admirably in a new direction, we think you'll agree that this is one of the most complete and spectacular remix packages of the 2015.

Pets Recordings hit their 59th release, handing the reigns to rising star Adam Port who presents a fresh update on '80s synthtronica, mixed with a smattering of gradual peak-time, bottom-heavy house structure. 'This Time' is the product of a new and fruitful relationship between Adam and vocalist Jennifer Touch, who grabbed Port's attention with her stand out vocals on the Nightstalker EP on Riotvan. The pair connected and began meeting for off the cuff, un-planned sessions at the Keinemusik studio in Stattbad, with Port bringing his knowledge of the dance-floor, Touch her 80's'esque new wave sound and influences. "It's a very good flow with her" says Adam. "We're speaking the same music language even when we have a different background".
Pets bosses Catz 'n Dogz immediately asked to sign the track after hearing Adam play it out. Full of dark, new wave pop sensibilities and edgy, dance-floor nuance, the original's slow and meandering electronic drum rhythm - permeated by crisp, mechanical snares, cymbal flashes and a guitar-picked loop with deep bassline and chanting background vocal melodies - make way for Jennifer's haunting vocal delivery while melancholy synths drape the track during it's choral bridge. Adam then progressively notches up in tempo as marching beats help to drive the track towards the dance-floor.
Sei A delivers a punchy, bassy remix - driven by a thick and pounding kick drum at it's core - while radiating, pulsing synth bass slowly melt into range, before a high tempo organ riff heralds a darker, techno leaning excursion into full force peak-time territory before brutalist saw wave bass lines bring the warehouse vibes on the drop. Finally, Port finishes off the release with his own alternate version, focusing on percussion and a deep, ethereal sub bassline and Jennifer's vocals, chopped, spliced and staggered, while the basslines and melodies create subtle shifts in this hypnotic, repetitive techno workout.

For the next instalment of our mix series, we've arranged a special mix from a duo which we have shared close ties with for the last five years, having them regularly at the club as well as a couple of our infamous open airs at Rummelsburg in Berlin. Hailing from the USA, the stateside duo Soul Clap have been at the forefront of the dance music scene for over half a decade now and are well known for their blend of funk and soul to house, techno and everything in between. From peak time sets on the main floor to sun soaked closing sets on the water floor, the pair of Bostonians, Eli Goldstein and Charles Levine, are a DJ's DJ. Selecting from a vast array of genres spanning time and tempo, the duo have carved out a niche for themselves as unique artists with a stylistic flair in both the music they play and the way the present it. As with all of our Watergate mixes from the series, each one embodies the heart and soul of the club in a unique way. Whether its proper techno, deep house or somewhere in-between, the mixes, like the club, are obtuse in spectrum with a wide array of style and presentation. With our most recent mix, we are definitely taking a leap from our normal protocol and have not only chosen an incredibly eclectic artist, but a live mix recorded on the 26th of July, 2015 at our Fly / Watergate open air series in Berlin. It was late afternoon when the stateside duo Soul Clap dropped an all vinyl set on the beach stage and the vibe was electric. Being the first mix in the series that's a live recording it kicks off with the sound of the crowd and the duos introduction as the 20 year old classic "Taxi Luv" from Chocolate City instantly lays down the Soul Clap touch with the perfect blend of classic house and jazz before smoothly sliding into Alexander East's soulfully stripped down 'Hazy Shade Of Love'. From there, it's a ride through the lush, soulful house of jakes Childs' 'Back To Basics' and the time-honored LawnChair Generals' 'Sweet Nothing'. In true Soul Clap fashion, the duo take no time in switching it up and effortlessly dive into freakier territory with the vocal heavy 'Dance U Mutha' by Mike Dunn and Jori Hulkkonen's wildly psychedelic, north African inspired acid rework of Fédéric Galliano & The African Divas' 'Koukou Lé'.
