A1 Too Many Kids Finding Rain In The Dust - Pépé Bradock's Blind Pig Mix A2 Too Many Kids Finding Rain In The Dust - Pépé Bradock's Train Fantôme Poke B1 Space Is Only Noise If You Can See - Dave Aju remix
After the roaring success of Nicolas Jaar's Space is only Noise album the fine curatorial heads at Circus Company HQ have enlisted 2 of their nearest, dearest and most talent co-conspirators for the first round of remix duties. Having built a cult following and peerless reputation for his remixes of everyone from Roy Ayers to Cassius, Pépé Bradock turns in no less than 3 versions of Too Many Kids Finding Rain in the Dust. The proceedings begin with his Blind Pig mix, an echoing tunnel of balkan strings and dusty samples connecting the lands of disco and hip hop to blinding effect. The Train Fantôme Poke follows and is certain to find it's way into many a discerning DJ bag in the weeks and months to come, with it's Mathew Herbert-esque syncopations and grinding industrial scrapes and psychedelic whispers. Dave Aju takes up the baton on the flip turning the album's title track into the kind of late 80s dance floor work out Martin Hannet would have been proud of, certain to appeal to fans of recent work by Matias Aguayo, Rebolledo and the Comeme camp. Finally, the bonus cut for the digital release, Mirandapella, sees Bradock doing away with the beats entirely and letting is fx units and sanity slip out the window into full cinematic free fall.

GummiHz, - Ruff Passage
Already in the forth installment, Claap continues it's streak of quality releases. This time label head GummiHz is back with a breazy and grooving maxi titled "Head Rush". Featuring four new cuts welcoming the summer heat. "Head Rush" is a captivating piece reminiscent of that 90s NY house sound. It is a nod to the past with a touch of now. Breezy and cool, with the sort of drums that will keep the floor pumping. The drums out mix is a more pumped out version of the original, stripped down to the drums and voices. "Secret voyage" taps into a more ballearic atmosphere. A captivating arpeggio draws the frame to a very elegant arrangement of organic rhythmical elements. "Ruff Passage" is a dubbier cut which was created to remind you of previous house producers of the ruff!! A must have for all occasions to keep the heat on!!

Emptyset, Cornelius Harris, - Altogether Lost
Altogether Lost is a collaboration between the Bristol based experimental techno duo Emptyset and the Detroit vocalist Cornelius Harris aka Atlantis from Underground Resistance. Inspired by an early 20th century poem of mystical heritage, the project marks the first ever joint production by these three major capitals of electronic music and is backed up by a very friendly and creative label partnership between Emptyset´s label MULTIVERSE and CLR from Berlin/Germany where both labels are going to release different versions of remixes of the original in a mutual promotion and release approach. CLR started this series with the release of the stunning original and a slamming remix by Chris Liebing and now follows up with a Ben Clock remix and a very deep and atmospheric interpretation by Ripperton.

The Eleven is - numerologically speaking- definitely not a lucky number in the Western culture. It exceeds perfection just by one and thus represents the number of excess and sin in Christian mythology; that's why apocalyptic events always start in the eleventh hour. However, those who followed the output of the most successful German label for electronic dance music since 2000 to date are aware of the fact that Cocoon's aim is rather the further development of sound instead of sticking to nostalgia, or portentous "Omen". Against this background, it may be a temporal coincidence but also totally logical that, on the occasion of the eleventh anniversary, this compilation breaks with traditions which people have come to like.
So, the focus of CD 1 does not lie in celebrating only the "best of" tracks, but rather in nine tracks from the past six years which have, without doubt, made some impact on clubs and dancefloors worldwide, but whose stories have not been musically "told" so far. It all begins with Chile-born Alejandra Iglesias aka Dinky, whose "Acid In My Fridge" from the Cocoon Compilation D in 2004 has ultimately taken her into the top league of producers. Lee Curtiss, Ryan Crosson, Seth Troxler and Shaun Reeves - the Michigan collective Visionquest - turns the musical masterpiece into a marvel of fragmented Dub Techno in a Breakbeat disguise, where the 303 takes over the controls again in the end anyway. Subsequently, Toronto's SCI + TEC ambassador Carlo Lio is pumping a maximum of distortion in Dubfire/Huntemann's "Diablo", while Amsterdam's Detroit resident Steve Rachmad brilliantly purges Joel Mull's club hit "Harmonautic String" of 2007, and the Scottish "Consumed" producer Gary Beck unfolds presumably the mightiest bass on this CD. Actually, there are still many things to say about each title on this CD, showing such great coalitions of Guy Gerber and Kollektiv Turmstraße, Roman Flügel and Martin Buttrich, Tim Green and Argy resp. Paul Ritch and 2000 and One, but at least one of the tracks deserves a special mention: That what the Croatian sound wizard Petar Dundov has hauled out of Extrawelt's "Titelheld" can confidently be seen as one of the emotional moments of glory of Techno in the current decade.
On CD 2, Cocoon newcomer Patrick Kunkel even goes one better - after his phenomenal Cocoon digital bonus mix for "The Sound of the 11th Season" - with an almost 80-minutes-mix made from 20 tracks of the label's history. With Roman Flügel's "Geht's Noch", Koletzki's "Mückenschwarm", Timo Maas' "Subtellite", the Dubfire remix of Minilogue's "Jamaica" and last year's consent track "The Secret" by Joris Voorn, the mix makes absolutely clear how deep the marks are that Cocoon has left in the acoustic memory of the club scene. And as if this wasn't enough anyway, there is massive bonus content waiting: Kassey Voorn & Pete McCarthey's version of Guy Gerber's "Timing", which was the winning track of the Cocoon/Beatport remix contest last year, can't be left out, just as three more "Titelheld" versions by Petar Dundov, Dexter and Patrick Kunkel as well as a "Tropical Melons" remix by Nick Curly. And so, the 11 turns into a mathematical parable of acoustic and rhythmic felicity.

SHORT INFO:
Ladi6 is a singer with soul. A singer with a hip-hop background and masses of pop-appeal. A singer who first gained attention through her features with the legendary New Zealand export-band Fat Freddy's Drop, but who has also performed alongside such diverse artists as Gil Scott-Heron, Mayer Hawthorne and Mos Def. In short: A singer whose eyes have seen much and whose style is not governed by rules. As if that wasn't enough, her enormous charisma enables her to win her audience over within minutes with full support of her band of Parks and Julien Dyne (BBE).
The 30-year old has always endeavored to use music to tear down barriers and dissolve purported genre-boundaries. With her previous album, "Time Is Not Much" (BBE) which was produced by Parks and Mu (Fat Freddy's Drop), Ladi6 has already taken a perfect shot at her goal, which, combined with the interplay between the many diverse elements of the music, has a highly impressive effect. "The Liberation Of…" has already top the New Zealand independent charts for consecutive weeks and her single "Like Water" is the #1 independent New Zealand song on radio.
Ladi6, a New Zealander of Samoan origin, feels a deep connection to her homeland. And her homeland has suffered some tragic events in recent years: One and a half years ago, the South Sea paradise of Samoa was stuck by a Tsunami. Ladi6, whose real name is Karoline Tamati, was present when the wave of destruction arrived. A few weeks ago an earthquake, measuring 6.3 on the Richter scale, devastated the New Zealand city of Christchurch - the town in which her family lives. Again, Karoline bore witness to a natural catastrophe inflicting deep wounds on the soul of a population.
All the more surprising then, that 'The Liberation Of…' doesn't for one moment sound burdened or melancholy. Quite the contrary, in fact: It is an easygoing, feel-good album. The title of the record, however, suggests both the aim of the songs and the result, which their creation has achieved. For the album is exactly that, which its title suggests: Liberation.

For this new "maxi", Fiakun get full of pride on presenting two of the most underground "southern" of the Spanish State "T.W.I.C.E", that gives us a "Dubbing Of My Soul" full of strength, character and a voice that will make fervour whistles of crowds. For this new 12", Fiakun boys are surrounded on one hand with one of the electronic music diva, Claudia P.Toile, who will take us to the cold Germany with a powerful and aggressive mix.
For the other remix, Fiakun presents its new signing, with whom it has the following release closed, Volta Cab. He is thought to be one of the 2011 artists, he brings us to a much more warm and acoustic remix.

The tracks on Secret Cinema's new album Minerals, are inspired by the hardness, color and material of various minerals. CD1 consists of dance floor hammering tech-house and techno as we have come to expect from Secret Cinema. With contributions from Ramon Tapia, Egbert and m0h, timeless gems are guaranteed once again! Alongside these floor friendly tracks are some more abstract jams. All is woven together in a powerful continuous mix on CD (with download voucher for single tracks) and all tracks are available separately on vinyl and download.
The Second CD is an ambient mix consisting of the sounds that form the base of the tracks on CD1, mixed with bizarre instruments, tuning forks and other sounds. Dirk-Jan Hanegraaff and Robert Kroos also known as Mental Youth, collaborated with Verheij on this creation. Perfect for relaxation after the party on CD1. Some say this could be some of the best work from one of the Netherland's top techno producers of the past 18 years!

Recently there seems to have been an easterly wind blowing through the electronic music scene: More and more artists, particularly from Romania, have staked an impressive claim on the dance floors of Europe’s best clubs and on the ears of it’s House music audience. Among the luminaries of the trend is Mihai Popoviciu, one of the most innovative producers in Eastern Europe. Mihai has already gained plenty of experience as a producer and DJ - he was only 14 years old when he discovered the electronic underground of his
homeland. “It was like a virus to me, it infected me immediately, “ he recalls. In 2001 he finally began with his own music production, a pursuit which is closely related to his work as a DJ - the one could not exist without the other - two sides of a creative symbiosis. In his first studio album “The Unexpected Truth“, to be released on Berlin’s Highgrade Records, Mihai Popoviciu shows two distinct sides of his musical mind. Accross the ten tracks we find, on the one hand, his private and reserved expressions, and on the other a powerful and surging musical attitude. The record is characterised by it’s unconcerned and easy going atmosphere, which transforms rapidly into driving percussion and minimal ambience. It is at once varied, original and catchy. Mihai himself considers “The Unexpected Truth” to be the essence of his artistic work: “A mirror of everything I do as a producer and DJ”. With this debut long player, he will appeal to both the party animal and the sofa connoisseur. As Mihai explains, “The club tracks get directly into the groove, while the quieter moments should provoke a ‘go with the flow’ feeling”. Regardless of whether you’re wriggling with the groove or chilling out at home, this debut album from Mihai Popoviciu will be making the rounds in your mind: Quite literally, since the accompanying tour will be coming to your neighborhood very soon.

Philip Bader ranks as one of the old hands of the Berlin electronic music scene and also one of the latest recruits to the wide reaching Highgrade family. Bader discovered his passion for digital rhythms way back in 1998 and only a year later, made his DJ debut at the legendary, original Tresor
club. The electro-fever has continued to infect him ever since. During those years, the natural born Berliner has not only developed as a DJ, but also as a producer and more recently a label founder. The connoisseur, Mr Bader is also a part of “Max and Moritz”, a synonym under which he and other friends have organised countless renowned parties, not least the infamous “Karneval der Verpeilten”…or “Carnival of the Wasted”! Now comes the first solo EP from Philip Bader on the home-grown Berlin label, Highgrade Records. “wonderland ghost” is, not only due to it’s title,
a gift for all friends of electronic dance music. The three tracks: “For You”, “The Ghost”, and “what i´m standing for feat. toxic pearl” all exude the pleasure of working with the original beats and rhythms that rattle through Bader’s music. These are elegantly arranged sound montages that relentlessly push into the ears of an enraptured dance floor, taking surprising twists and turns on their way to a land of pure musical fun!

Each summer, a new raft of dance compilations stake claim to represent ‘the real Ibiza’. But, if anyone deserves that that accolade, it is José Padilla, who first arrived on the White Island in 1975 and who has been DJling there ever since. For jose it has been always great to experience different music and play around the colours. As Jose days ‘’If it was grey, I’d play one way, if it was very bright, I’d play happy. I’d play with the mood.” Those sunsets have become legendary – an essential part of the Ibiza experience,
climaxing in warm applause as the sun finally disappears beneath the waves, and those famous mix tapes evolved into the much-loved Café del Mar compilation albums, conceived
and compiled by José Padilla, which have now sold over 5 million copies around the world.
In addition Jose has gone from a poor barrio in Northern Spain, to a jet-set DJ lifestyle; guesting in London, Paris, Monte-Carlo, Amsterdam, Miami, Italy, Moscow, Australia… and
serving as a musical ambassador for the island. All Jose’s albums sound as great now as the day they were released, and new fans are still discovering the beauty of Jose Padilla’s
exquisite taste as he continues to search out the finest music from around the world On May 2011 Jose Padilla's brand new compilation Here Comes The Sunset vol 04 will
be released worldwide by Klik Records. This time the compilation will be custom edited for Singita Beach Club in Italy. Singita is in line with the new beach entertainment trends that
put the beach at the center of the meeting joint ritual not only during the daytime; Singita becomes escapism desire, strong emotions, sensational sunsets, exotic flavors and
perfumes, awesomeness. During the whole summer this beach 25 Km from Rome, brights up and becomes other… a far and exotic strip of sand.

There are few artists at work in electronic music today with a sound as unmistakable as Mathew Jonson. The Vancouver producer has been steadily turning out some of the most inspiring electronic compositions of the past decade, beginning with his debut 12" for Canadian imprint Itiswhatitis Recordings in 2001, with a career taking in releases on Minus, Perlon and Kompakt - along with a steady output on the Wagon Repair label he co-founded in 2005, and numerous related side projects including Cobblestone Jazz, The Modern Deep Left Quartet and Midnight Operator (alongside his brother Nathan aka Hrdvision). Learning To Fly will be Jonson's second release on Minus, following 2004's Decompression EP - the release that truly launched him on the international stage and laid out a blueprint for his ever-evolving style, one that manages to consistently explore new territory whilst maintaining the aesthetic that makes his productions distinct from every other artist working today. Learning To Fly is arguably one of the most exciting singular works of Jonson's career, recalling his first Wagon Repair release: 2005's Marionette, a record that continues to inspire cultish devotion six years after its release and thoroughly deserves every adjective for 'hypnotic' and 'anthemic' that's ever been thrown at it. Learning To Fly retains those qualities whilst taking them yet further - a 12 minute sci-fi exploration that achieves that mark of classic electronic music production, working just as thrillingly for personal listening as it does when experienced as part of Jonson's transcendent live performances. Jonson himself considers Learning To Fly to be among the best compositions of his career, and brings it to Minus after years of waiting for the right track to follow the mighty Decompression. "For me this piece reflects clarity and harmony," explains Jonson. "Richie Hawtin is someone who has always inspired me to take my work to new levels, so it's fitting that Learning To Fly will be released on Minus”

The Oliverwho Factory, - I Can See
"I Can See" by The Oliverwho Factory is the second release of german label Couldn't Care More (following Stareaways "Learn How To Love Me") and it's just marvellous: The duo from Detroit, who by the way runs the stunning label Madd Chaise Inc. and recently released "Galactic Transit" on Rush Hour and "Night Lights" on Planet E, delivers finest Detroit tech deep house with a twist, that will make you wave your arms and scream on the dancefloor. While the basic track is voluminously wafting and rawly pushing forward vocalist Shone tops it with her power- and soulful singing. Both tracks are mastered straight to the point by A.O.S.. Classic.

Dadub, - Metropolis
SA009 sees Stroboscopic Artefacts return to the split vinyl format, with the formidable Pfirter taking to the A-side and the two minds behind Artefacts Mastering, Dadub, taking care of the B-side. As Pfirter’s ‘Monad IV’ proved, his releases on SA are not as you’ve heard him before. His vision cut to wax is “Universe”, a 10 minute odyssey that’s both militantly 4/4 and peppered with unpredictability. It’s 4/4 that’s optimized for those liminal moments in a peak-time set. Dadub’s ‘Metropolis’ is a cityscape rendered in all its complexity. They take dub and scissor into it. It’s panoramic in scope and knottily brilliant. From these two tracks, two tools have been skillfully extracted by a new edition to the SA family: Edit Select. Out of Pfirter’s ‘Universe’ he distills a silken serum. The B-side ‘Metropolis’ is pushed deep; the beats drop fathoms below and leagues above the top lines reverberate with hazy memories.

Jens Bond, Benno Blome, - Voice Matters
When Benno Blome and Jens Bond were hanging out in Benno's studio the other day they suddenly found themselves on the floor looking for their heads. They must have fallen off, while producing some new Bond & Blome-beats. Having found their heads again, and put them back on, they continued, and finally came up with the "Lose Their Heads Ep". After a couple of 12inches for Sender Records ("Tentacular", "Control Your Soul") during the past years, they now armed forces to release on Sender's new sublabel Senzen.
Also thanks to the fantastic remixes from Onno and Acumen, this whole package is ready to rumble all over the dancefloors of the universe.

The enigmatic French trio dOP unleash another sonic assault of deep and visceral house music on Guy Gerber's Supplement facts imprint with three bold and organic cuts for 'Your Sex'. A dark broody and characteristically cheeky affair, 'Your Sex' opens up this dOP creation with a stripped back beat and looped vocal. Low-end bass build up the title track to a crescendo that engulfs the senses in deep acid frequencies. This is a nod to the techno elite but fusing a new depth and sensuality to the genre, in true dOP style. Skipping into subtle and kinetic territory, 'Half Naked' flirts with reverberating whispered vocals and crisp percussive beats. A lethargic and almost yearning record, it massages the energies of the body with a playful and soothing approach. Last up Paul Ritchtackles a remix of the title track, elevating those throbbing bass elements to new levels with a fluttering and-high energy weapon made to hypnotise the feet, body and mind. dOPis the musical summation of a 20 year long friendship between members Clement Aichelbaum, Damien Vandesande and Jonathan Illel, Their musical relationship beginning in 1994 as the result of a rock & roll cover band formed for the French National Day of Music, experimenting in hip-hop, jazz, and reggae followed by various musical incarnations. In 2005 they made the transition into electronic music and last year delivered a highly regarded debut artist album on Circus Company, noted in The Guardian newspaper as 'steeped not in orthodox 4/4 house and techno, but in jazz, classical, hip-hop and world music".

True to form, Souvenir are back with a snappy summertime release perfectly hinged & ready for sweeping the dancefloors. Souvenir 036 Various Artists features Lewis Boardman & Maher Daniel blending their sounds, and converging on this EP for some magnificent effects. The A side starts out with Daniel - he is a new, but solid name amongst the techno-gambit, having released on labels such as Get Physical & Bedrock, as well as on Souvenir. While his remix workings of "Rumblefish" earned him a 2 1/2 month long-spot as number one on the techno charts. With "Here and Now" with dark, driving techno that sounds like its been made inside of a blazing house-fire. Burning & singed, the the layers fall heavy upon one another - with a penetrating dancefloor deep-ness to the bass. Next up, "Icaros" on the inside A track...Spins a dark & deep nighttime soundscape, deep into the depths of a jungle somewhere. A distant & hollow vocal of a tribesman hums hauntingly in the distance, with a severe & driving bassline to make you run like a scared little raver deep into the jungle. On the B side, Boardman takes over, one of the UK's newest talents - recently remixing for Nina Kraviz & Yousef - with "Tranquilizer," on B2 is quite a minimal retreat...with some intergalactic space-fight sounds thrown into the mix, alongside the rolling bass, and chug-chugging. B2 enters the title track, "The Broken is Beautiful." A nice, chugging bass-line meets a ethereal chopped up vocal, carefully flowing in & out of the bass-line....to meet up strong midway thru the breakdown.

ONNO, - And Yet Again
Onno is a highly dosed dancing pill, Pop one and your rubber legs turn into those of Fred Astaire. His last release already proved that he knows how to make you "put yo hands up in da air"! Now, here's his latest little treat "Hablando Loco EP" Upon You Number 048. The title track opens with some sweet vocals and then drills into your A1 memory banks with the Spanish Monolog from El Commandante. On B2 he's quite content with the few words : "I like that beat". But Onno likes the repetetive use of vocals like a fitness trainer trying to squeeze that last drop of sweat out of you. Gavin Herlihy, who some of you know from Cocoon, takes a subtler approach to the track with his remix that writhes in the scented oils that is House-deepness. Then, for those hard buggers out there that need another round on the treadmill there's a nice Digital-Exclusive-Track "And Yet Again" that will help you burn some of that fat and give you a tasty little muscle ache to remember it by.

Debut release for duo Altarboy and Wonder Wet Records which are together two of the best recognized realities in Roma. They show up at your door without knocking, stepping up with an excellent single. Sophisticated and intelligent sounds are their unique trademark. Deep atmosphere on a solid punchy groove. Warm bassline sticks together with rhythm and fine analogue synth. Caspy cousins get fun with their vox samplers on both tracks. This single is definitely for smart dancefloor. For sure you will re-listen it the day after and again and again.. Really well done!

Bottin, AKA Guglielmo Bottin, first crossed paths with us at the Carnival of Venice. He was playing live synth whilst Bearfunk head-bear Stevie was DJing. After more DJing & some jovial keyboard sessions and some seriously impressive listening, we knew we had just found our favourite new Venetian. The Horror Disco concept all started with the chance loan of a noisy, old, incontrollable, 70's Farfisa Syntochestra synthesizer. This proved to be the weapon of choice for several of the tracks on the album (Mary Lewis, Magnetic Cat) with Bottin building up hand-played layers old school style. A few tweaks of the Farfisa led our man to the world of sounds he grew up to: the soundtracks to Italian slasher B-movies (like those by Lucio Fulci, Bava, Argento & Alberto Martino), but also futuristic horror scenarios, cosmic travels and close encounters with space vampires... The die was set. Horror Disco melds these soundtrack and aural ideas with a 100% disco album. One that drifts away from most of the soulful elements of disco and one that is dirtier, warmer and less polished than contemporary Scandinavian nu-disco. The album is wide and varied - 'Slashdance' gives us a Goblin-esque robo-vocoder-disco, 'Roger Bacon' is pure cosmic groove, whilst the Italo-disco-Thriller 'Disco For The Devil' features the vocals of Italian-based, UK-born session master Douglas Meakin - who back in the day was lead vocalist in Simonetti's Easy Going and Crazy Gang cult disco projects.

Sampler #2 from the Global Communication "Back In The Box" compilation album, the techno and ambient retrospective selected by Tom Middleton and Mark Pritchard, back together again after a 15 year hiatus. Techno's "The Innovator", Derrick May, laid down the foundations for the music in a very short time period, and has never gone back to production since, except for a few rare forays into the studio. This project, with Steve Hillage AKA System 7, was conceived in 1992, but the Mayday mix here was released in 2002. May's trademark frenetic and flanged 909 beats along with System 7's cosmic guitar work and monumental pads. An often overlooked track, this captures Derrick May at his best. Fellow Detroit pioneers, Octave One, are perhaps best remembered for the huge "Blackwater" single and the timeless "I Believe", but this rare cut from 1991, and released on Carl Craig's Retroactive label, was recorded under the guise Never On Sunday. Melancholic and uber deep, this is a fine example of the more intricate Detroit sounds from this era.
Speedy J's "De-Orbit" is one of the ever prevalent tracks from this era. Originally released on Richie Hawtin's Plus 8 label, and later featured on the legendary "Artificial Intelligence" album on Warp, "De-Orbit" is a downtempo mood piece, with gorgeous meleody and a slow churning breakbeat. Many DJs from this time, however, opted to play this track pitched up to 45rpm, creating an entirely new experience from the record, boarding on proto-jungle/breakbeat. Indeed, on the Back In The Box mix, the track is repitched to nearly 130bpm. Originally out in 1991.

Back to normal releases now for Blueprint after the final instalment of Regis and Ruskin's Post-Traumatic Son project. Emerging from the more experimental side of the Dubstep scene in late 2008 with a number of releases on the much lauded Hotflush Recordings imprint, Sigha’s sound has evolved into a deep, dark, introspective take on Techno. He has also worked with Echocord, Metalheadz and Immerse among others and runs the ‘Our Circula Sound’ label.

Semtek, - East Acyd Shelter
The fourth release on Don´t Be Afraid is a reinterpretation of one of the most important jazz funk records of the 1970´s. Semtek rebuilds the legendary hook from scratch over a disorienting range of acid, broken and techno accoutrements leaving a rolling monster that might set dancefloors alight. Photonz bring their unique Lisbon via Essex style to the proceedings with an "I can´t believe it´s not Garage" take on Semtek´s beat, proving yet again that they are a force to be reckoned with in 2011. The B-side "East Acyd Shelter" is a sparse analogue workout that would be at home as much in legendary and much missed Kings Cross hangout The Key, as it would in a James Bond soundtrack of the Timothy Dalton era.

Debukas might be a new name to enter the music scene, a quick google reveals just a remix of The Wild Beast and guest vocals on Simon Baker’s recent album, but he’s got a colourful and varied past.Debukas is the first solo project where he has been able to blend his love of underground electronics, leftfield pop and more importantly showcase his superb vocals. The music is strongly informed by the original Chicago and Detroit sounds of Larry Heard and Carl Craig but equally classic electronics from the likes of Yello, Gino Soccio and Klein & MBO. His vocals come to the fore in soulful bursts of song, and also in the very fabric of the tracks as percussion, riffs, melodies and FX, making his music instantly recognisable but also totally original. A self confessed analogue freak, (check the youtube footage of his Model 500, Aaron Carl and Nitzer Ebb tributes) he creates a rich, warm sound, that can only come from years of knob twiddling on vintage synths

This album isn't about "entertainment," it's about transformation, and transformation requires effort on behalf of the aspirant. My initial idea for this album project was to explore ideas of science fiction, but when I started the groundwork, it soon became obvious to me that my journey was one to inner rather than outer space. I studied the music of La Monte Young, Terry Riley, Eliane Radigue, and Alice Coltrane, all of whom made deeply spiritual, abstract music. I was searching for the deep spiritual essence that lay behind the surface structures of their individual music. This album is the closest I have been to reaching that point. It has nothing to do with nihilism or dystopia; it has a purely utopian aesthetic.

Basic Soul Unit returns to his Herman project with an excellent early chicago influenced house track. Seriously good track that is weird and wonky with much quality in the drum programming. Very spacious without being cheeky. It comes comes with an utterly irresistible rework from Vakula reminiscent of the halcyon days of chi house. And as bonus 4 locked grooves! One of our favorite Fine Art records to date!

Exploited serve an ace from Consistent, a group of well known producers working under the cloak of anonymity. Previously having released on Frontroom and Boe with remixes for Tartelet and Man Recordings, Consistent's track 'Feeling High' dices vocals and disco vibes into a house heavyweight something like Hot City meets Soundhack, coming with certified anthem status. Get involved for the polished Berlin-meets-Chicago modernism that'll get you sweaty as a taxi driver's neck in July. It's difficult to say whether this is tech house or deep house, strictly speaking, but either way the title track bumps. It funks and, although we're told it comes from Berlin, it's damned Chicago. This is the 2nd single from Consistent (remember 'Aint no Bump'?) on Exploited.

2
Roska, - Error Code
Hotflush presents the full label debut of UK funky figurehead Roska, following his appearance on the recent BACK AND 4TH compilation and seminal remix of Untold’s “Just For You” in 2009. This release brings together two cuts that emphasize a healthy evolution of the Roska style that has made such an impact on bass music in the last couple of years. Retaining the customary hardhitting percussion and raw syncopated rhythms, a slightly futuristic twinge moves us into more unfamiliar territory, with the energetic synth arpeggiation of “Error Code” backed by the spacier, dubbed-out “Abrupt”.

After “Echo Life” and “Night Impact” Mirror People’s third release “Reaction!/Odyssey” is out now on Social Disco Club’s Hands of Time label. This 12” reinforces Rui Maia’s ability in crossing over his trademark synth skills with his love for emotional and melodic dancefloor movements. Both tracks fuse recognizable patterns and intriguing ones where the cold teutonic meets far-eastern harmonies in a cool piano induced crescendo. As for the two remixes, Tiago Miranda provides a buzzing hypnotic “Zawa Dub” of “Reaction!” and Jacques Renault a rhythmical stomping “Odyssey” version.

Following on from the first release on the label which featured the massive Mark Broom remix, Informa Records return with their second EP, which again comes from label head Deepbass. This time he has enlisted the remix talents of Italian's The Modern Heads and Schermate. Big room Techno, with a a darker experimental edge. Limited to 300 copies. Counter Culture EP is the second installment from Informa records once agin by label boss Deepbass. After his influential remixes for Claudio PRC & Svart 1's Caveat Emptor EP on Mono Records he has now taken on a new concept for this release, the objective was to adapt dark ambient soundscapes and fuse them with intelligent techno. He has went into great depth in all the production and succeeded to create an immensely unconventional modern sound. The release has two remixes The first remix comes from Italy's Dino Sabatini and Gianluca Meloni aka "Modern Heads" who's productions have been released on Prologue, Stroboscopic Artefacts and LINEAL. The second remix is again from Italian producers Alessandro Larice & Stefano Greppi aka Schermate. They have been releasing music on there Schermate record label since 2009 always showcasing their very experimental musical style.

Man-of-the-moment Tiago’s new project i-Boat Captain arrives on Is It Balearic..? Recordings !! Slower is a beautifully smooth & laid back synth journey with added guitar melodies weaving a web of Eastern influence while dipping it's toes into subtly psychedelic waters. This is sunshine grooving at its best. The Backwoods (DJ Kent) turn in a truly mesmerising remix. Hypnotic and dreamy but with added 4/4 kick, this is mellow acid house done exceptionally well.

This first 12" features the original version - a piano-driven Chicago style anthem with heavy drums and a touch of acid. Mattie delivers a classic house performance in his own instantly recognisable style. On the flip are two different dubs, one an incessant barrage of piano's, the other a thick slice of acid.

It's been two years since GusGus graced us with their enigmatic Kompakt debut "24/7". This album was return to form for the trio, earning much acclaim and fanfare thanks to its conceptual rigidity and pure glamour. Conceived solely with the help of two precious Doepfer modular systems and Daniel August's all-pervasive vocals, it could have been easily characterized as Gus Gus' unofficial live album. If you had the chance to catch one of their many live shows on their exhaustive world-wide tour, you know what drive and emotion their show brought to the stage and crowd. Let’s fast forward to present day. The trio comprised of President Bongo, Biggi Veira and Daniel August felt the urge to reunite. They set up a makeshift studio in a summer cottage in the depths of the lava field. Secluded in silence and beauty they began working on their seventh studio album and have delivered "Arabian Horse" - a full length that brims with highlights showcasing GusGus’ versatility and stunning songwriting ability to creative levels that we feel is their greatest accomplishment in their 15+ year history. A vast array of illustrious guest musicians and singers abound on these powerful ten new songs. Most prominently, we welcome the long awaited return of former band member and gifted vocalist Ur?ur "Earth" Hákonardóttir who appears on the three songs “Be With Me”, “Arabian Horse” and “Over”. Hogni Elisson recently released a wonderful album with his band Hjaltalin and lends his voice to some of the album's most memorable and deepest moments. Samúel Jón Samúelsson contributes the elevating, goosebump-inducing string arrangements, Davd Thor Jonsson contributes accordion and the banjo. Even an un-named Gypsy combo leave their mark on "Arabian Horse"! Compared to GusGus’ stripped down predecessor for Kompakt, "Arabian Horse" is much more "in your face" – the songs brim with big gestures, enthralling hooks, pop and soul! GusGus have perfected the craft of balancing that fine line between commercial pop and underground dance music. But who needs compartmentalization when we're talking about music and emotion? Take the powerful schaffel (aka shuffle) anthem "Deep Inside" which makes use of big room chords you'd normally hear in more commercially tunes but balances that with a ferocious bass line and vocal duel that belongs to anyone. This sincerity in their music carries throughout “Arabian Horse”. Another prime example of this is the Högni fronted "Within You" – strings converge with his breathtaking vocals backed by a thoroughly addictive techno bass kick. It’s a fact that GusGus retrace their original influences and have created a dance pop album that equally resonates a forgotten period of early ‘90’s dance pop (think The Beloved), classic house music and urban soul a la Massive Attack. But make no mistake, "Arabian Horse" does not sound like pure retro in any way. It's deeply rooted in the sound of today backed by one of the most state-of-the-art quality productions Kompakt has released to date. Still need a tag? Why not: Icelandic Hi-Tech Soul.

Incarnations, - Meet Me At Midnight (Rayko Remix)
Incarnations are back with an overwhelming 12", just in time for the summer. Remix action comes from Ilya Santana and his trademark SpaceDiscoPop, Wareika bringing the deepness and Rayko offering a shot of synth-driven discoid eighties. "Meet Me At Midnight" is an exquisite hand-crafted pop piece, where you can clearly hear echoes of America (the band, not the continent), among many other things. It has summer written all over it and allow us to say that is the kind of song that makes you a better person. Ilya Santana takes the original and drives it deep into space, without losing its amazing pop feel. Wareika take over "Make You Mine" and bring it deeper than deep, close to Maurizio, in a superb remix. And last but not least, Madrid's own edit maestro Rayko shows us his powerful approach to the song getting the most out of his synth collection!

No More Hits are keeping with the fresh new producer flow, this time G&D at the controls. Originally a two track 12 with Mustang & Turned, we heard the ‘Some Time’ track and had to put it out! A1: Some Time
- Heavy, chugging track this is a KILLER! Throwback vibe on this one but sounds so fresh. Loads of percussion going on, the lead is tremendous. This track has got it all! B1: Mustang - This is a quality track; beat down disco feel – perfect No More Hits material. Love the hypnotic synth. This really builds to a huge finish, peak time destroyer! Deep! B2: Turned - This is the sexiest song, such a beautiful groove. Deep bass line is the main focus, really works with great use of vocals and a stunning lead. So, so HOT!!

Chris Mitchell presents to us two potent tracks for his debut release on Plan B Recordings. Label mates, Dakini9 & Amir Alexander give us their take with remixes of each track. The A Side track “Lonely Nights” has a deep house edge which can work well on on any dance floor. The B Side “Worker Ants” track is a bit more spacey with robotic glitches & grtty synths

2000Black is back on wax with 2027Black, a huge release from Shokazulu. A-Sdie: Part 4 Funky bass really stands out on this track. Cool synths, keys and an awesome groove from the percussion. Big, big track! B-Side: Dis Yah One I Love - Heavy track with a garage feel to it. Breezy synths tie it down but the real focus is on the percussion, the beat is tremendous!

This time TERPSITON are presenting their first compilation called "Collagen". A collage (From the French: coller, to glue) is a work of formal art, primarily in the visual arts, made from an assemblage of different forms, thus creating a new whole. And that´s what this record is all about. Musicwise this means on the A-Side the holy ANTON ZAP (Ehtereal Sound, UQ) delivers a intense, authentic and slow burning cut. Additionally on this side Terpsiton want to introduce a new mystery called CHORDULA that brings you an extraordinary and smashing retroesque track just to tear every dance floor apart. The B-side starts with the label-dandy KAI VON GLASOW and another love song for the broken hearted. "How to love" not only shows you how to love but how to dance at all. Last but not least Terpsiton present another new artist duo named HAMPEL&NIKI who stands for raw, stomping and disco-like old school sounds, enough said. To formulate this record: punk house at its best, but think for yourself and listen

The Uncanny Valley-quartet is rounded up by the Ace of Spades. Before starting to release its first Artist-EPs, the compilation-series is rounded up for now with the roughest EP so far. Sneaker’s You Think You Think! takes no prisoners and comes with a dark bass line you can't really resist. The track is a musclebound monster and includes claps that are out of control and freaked out vocals by Sneaker himself. No less rough is cvbox' machinematch, even if its acid-thunderstorm builds up far more subtly. Finally, Pla¨tschern by Stefan Lohse takes us on a 100-BPM-journey straight into analogue wonderland...

It should be obvious by now that we here at the WPH camp are keen on real vocals. So while the rest of the world is busy sampling and recycling vocals from the past, leave it up to us to pick out those tracks that feature fresh and home made vocals. Although WPH 012 by DJ Yellow also indulges in a little bit of recycling, or rather good old fashioned licensing. The title track ‘Night In Tranzylvania’ has been a huge favourite with label boss Red D and his Belgian crowd ever since it was released on the criminally overlooked album ‘Intermission’ on Project Recordings in 2008. But now it is back in all its glory and supported by ‘Angel’s Part’ a killer ambient track which also featured on that album album, ‘Je t’M’, a new track by DJ Yellow and a Russ Gabriel Remix of the title track.
