few. But now it's time to give the cards a shuffle and welcome Marlow on Sonar Kollektiv. After his recent remix of Alex Barck's “Re-Set” (featuring Pete Josef) he now presents his proper first release for the Berlin label. “Backroom” is a joyous bass-driven sing-along pop/house hybrid that will be more at home on your living room stereo and your iPod and will surely get radio play all across the borders. It's also the perfect vehicle for Pete Josef's exquisite tonsils and lyrics. On the B-Side we're treated with another stand-out track by the enigmatic name of “L4L (Vertigo)”. This time Comixxx' partner in crime Dominik “Knixx” Wirth grabs the microphone and delivers a mellifluous performance over a electro-funky instrumental reincarnating west coast funk by let's say The Egyptian Lover in an ultra-vibrant fashion. Here is the 5th episode of the successful Midnight Circle Lullabies serie of 2011 and latest release of the year. But don't be misled, this one is another solid collection of tracks compiled with love by label honcho Dairmount. It has been a long wait but the much sought after Satellites track of Motor City Drum Ensemble is finally coming on wax, after being played by everyone from Deetron to Will Saul. Considered by Danilo himself, as one of his most personal tracks ever, the joint is a masterpiece of slomo timeless moody House Music. Coming as A2 is Pet In My Sea, a very special track displaying the amazing talent of the latest signing of the RWAV camp. Nowakowski is the young Swedish talent that Dairmount developped in secrecy in 2011 who released already on the Catz'n'Dogz imprint Pets. Definitely a rising start for 2012. On the flipside, Marlow offers a state of the art remix work by delevering a beautiful rendition of State 808, a track produced by xXxXx, the duo of Commixx & Knixx, known for their remarkable collaboration on Marlow's anthem Put Off. The track has been licensed from the German label Be Bonkers who released it digitally but Dairmount loved it & played it so much that he wanted to give a chance to vinyl lovers to get it on wax. Damn right isn't it? And finally, Marino Berardi provides a very valuable contribution with Best Intention, a classic track of the label, often compared to the sound esthetics of Braddock & Herbert, who has been a prime favorite of people as diverse as Joris Voorn, Milton Jackson or Trevor Jackson...

Joris Feiertag is a Dutch producer and drummer from Utrecht in the Netherlands who makes music that is a finely balanced blend of organic and synthesized elements, often using ingenious syncopated rhythms combined with instruments such as the harp and kalimba. Roots is his third album on revered German imprint Sonar Kollektiv. The LP features not only a plethora of vocalists from across the globe, but also sees the producer playing with obscure samples and sounds, as he attempts to discover a new direction and find that sweet spot between dark and light; major and minor; new and old; uplifting electronica and soul.

"Never change a winnig team". That's what Radio Citizen's Niko Schabel must have thought when he decided to release his fourth album once again on Sonar Kollektiv. After the success of "The Night & The City" (SK310LP / CD) from 2015 and the productive collaboration ever since this seems like a wise resolution. Schabel's idea to retrieve to a mountain cabin in Salvenberg, Tirol with his band and tons of equipment turned out to be an even more crucial factor to the cause. Here they could create and record new songs and bring them together neatly for the new album. The 13 tracks assembled here on "Silent Guide" are - each on its own and in its entirety anyway - best proof how wonderfully this approach has worked out. For instance, you'd only have to listen to "Grand Jam" to get the picture: A composite work of Schabel (on synthesizer) with Bernd Oeszevim (on drums), Maasl Maier (on bass), Marja Burchard (on rhodes) and Johannes Schleiermacher (on synthesizer) leaves every musician enough air to breathe and even much more room for personal development. A qualification running like a common thread through the album's length. Don't worry though, "Silent Guide" isn't a random collection of live jams and untamed solos. "SaraSong" (composed by drummer Oeszevim) is a beautiful, gracious tune borne by Marja Burchard's trombone and Niko Schabel's bass clarinet packed in a semi-complex arrangement with two parts linked up ingeniously. Or take the opener and title track "Silent Guide": Here you have Natalie Greffel's voice becharming you. You literally can feel how much fun it must have been to bring this album collectively forth. On "Ninguém" Greffel sings in Portuguese and on "It's Not Enough" she's supported vocally by Marja Burchard for a mantra-like chorus superimposed over the captivating drumming by Bernd Oeszevim (the first part is a 33/16 beat by the way). On this track Johannes Schleiermacher plays the flute, on "Kein Planet" Niko Schabel plays an alto saxophone and on "Ethxxmologie" you hear a whole brass section featuring a bass clarinet, a tenor saxophone and two trombones. Masterfully he accomplishes this endeavour while weaving Christine Salem's voice along a twisted shuffle beat and drives the track to the next level by adding stabbing synth chords. Full contact! On the flipside the enigmatic British production duo Mao take us by surprise with their reinterpretation of 'Doubter'. All of a sudden Jonatan Bäckelie finds himself in a dripstone cave. The massive beat framework props the whole track from not being torn down by the never ending echoing vocals.
