Jordan Peak fits the Instinkt brand like a glove. This grenade of a release has concrete boots that will be smashing holes in dance floors for months to come. ‘Drums for Days’ is the most powerful release on this label to date with two tracks combing some stunning drum programming and the trippiest vocal hook you’ll hear this year. New-school house with just the right amount of nostalgia done in the classy way only Jordan Peak is capable of.

Jordan Peak makes a stellar return to the Air London imprint this September with the 'Cause For Concern' EP, a three-track collection from the London based producer. The ever on-point Jordan Peak has been continually delivering striking and versatile material over the past four years, releasing records via some leading labels in underground house and techno, such as Tsuba, Robsoul, Bass Culture and One Records. Here we see Jordan return to the Air London label, following his 'It's Time / Hanging By A Thread' EP on the imprint last year. Peak kicks off the 'Cause For Concern' EP with 'Tones & Textures', a rugged groove-led workout fuelled by a bumpy, penetrating rhythm. The synthesized elements then add a warm and charming character to the composition, meandering around the percussive foundation; Peak employs ethereal pads, swirling dub echoes and resonant stabs here to create a mesmerizing and hypnotic vibe. Following is 'Sacred Ground' which picks up the pace slightly with insistent sub tones, naturally swung organic percussion, ever evolving, tension building atmospherics and a trippy spoken-word vocal line uttering the track's title sporadically. Once again resulting in a classy, understated piece of work from this clear-cut talent. The package is then closed with 'Divider', a brilliant construction to finish the package which sees Jordan opt for a more minimalistic approach, stripping back the drums to a sparse yet punchy vibe, while rounded low-end tones drive things along, and bubbling bell sounds, gritty stabs and aggressive bass hits are thrown into the mix intermittently.

We welcome UK’s rising star Jordan Peak on board for his first fully fledged techno release. Jordan has been making waves ever since his entrance on the international circuit in 2011 and with releases on Bass Culture and Robsoul a.o. his future is looking bright. Last year he started his own imprint Rogue Society, a label focused on music on the borders of house and techno. Jordan’s first steps into purist techno territory appear more like giant leaps. All four tracks sound like he is been making techno tunes for years, an extraordinary display of his talent. Black Paint kicks of a funk fuelled groove accompanied by modern day dub stabs and fx programming. Follow up Crocodile Tears brings memories of early Slam/Soma records to mind, updated to 2014. On the flipside you’ll find 2 dark, hypnotic groovers. Relentless in their pace, both with catchy melody lines that’ll stick in your brain for weeks to come. Another fantastic BALANS debut

Italy's Kid Mark follows up his much revered releases on Swink & Deso Records by delivering an EP that demonstrates his qualities of producer of that ‘pure’ house music sound. Opening with 'All Of Me' we are given a taste of things to come with luscious sweeping pads and a vocal hook that rolls in tandem with the bass line creating an infectious groove. James Johnston is the man behind the remix taking 'All Of Me' in a direction that has cemented his reputation as a master remixer. He compliments the original sound with cleverly layered pads and pianos intertwining the vocal hook creating a sublime orchestra effect. The B-side opening track takes us in a completely different direction with '909 bullets'. Driven along with an off-beat acid stab and a triple hit chord loop, Kid Mark shows he is more than capable of creating a sound for much darker dance floors. The final track 'House Is Da Way' displays yet another string to Kid Marks' bow. Drawing influence from last years re-emergence of the 90's sound he cleverly crafts a main room monster using a mixture of classic drum fills and classic vocal snips.

After a string of successful releases on labels such as Diapham and Local Talk, Greek producer KINDIMMER joins forces with INSTINKT to deliver a deep and tasteful slice of heavy dance floor funk. Already respected for his trademark tech-infused sounds, KINDIMMER goes one further on this ep with swinging percussion and infectious bass hooks. The opening track PERSONALITY VESSEL combines dirty loose percussion in tandem with one of the fattest bass lines 2013 is likely to witness. Add to this KINDIMMER’s trademark eerie pads and you have the makings of a dance floor weapon. The second track SUREAL UNREAL takes things deeper and slower with more emphasis on layered percussion and open spaces. Giving the track plenty of breathing room while maintaining that trademark KINDIMMER swing. Sydney based JOHN DEVECCHIS returns to INSTINKT for the second time in as many releases, this time on remix duty. His remix of SUREAL UNREAL takes the elements of the original to a tougher level with a bass hook being the prominent feature of this track. With the bass-line providing the energy John lets the percussion add the groove with obvious percussion features throughout the track, rounding off a strong second release for the Australian imprint.

No More Hits artist John Devecchis, launches Instinkt Recordings this April, with the ‘Find A Way’ EP, comprising three original cuts and a remix from James Barnsley. York-born, now based in Australia, producer and DJ, John Devecchis, launches his brand new Instinkt Recordings imprint this April, delivering up-front house music pertaining to peak-time dance floors and the afterhours, and with a release out now on the reputable No More Hits imprint, alongside the likes of Nicholas and Simoncino, It’s safe to say he has an attentive approach to sculpting sounds, as well as creating and scoping out tasteful, elegant house music. The release opens with title track ‘Find A Way’, taking on the format of classic deep house, with crunchy 909 drums, warm string melodies and a bulbous sub-bass line. Devecchis chops up an amalgamation of female vocal samples and crafts them into enticing hooks, while organic piano chords progressions further fuel the musicality, and bubbling percussion drives the movement of the track subtly in the background. Get Physical, Catwash and Safari Electronique artist, James Barnsley, steps in to rework ‘Find A Way’ next, stamping his signature hypnotic house mark on the original. Barnsley opts from rolling toms and shuffling snares in the drum programming, while dubbedout vocals and warbling chords create and expansive atmosphere. Opening the B-Side of the release is ‘Gonna Be Right There’, maintaining the classic feel of the preceding track with bright synth chords, swinging drums and spoken word vocal lines. The focal point of the track introduces a cosseting pad lines, which falters in pitch and evolves with intermittent drops for the remainder of the cut. Closing the release we have, ‘Ask You’, an apt choice to wind things down as Devecchis takes things even deeper. Smooth pads and hi-strings lead the way, while raw, natural percussive lines drive the energy. This is an outstanding debut from Instinkt Recordings, and a good indication of what’s to come from this promising new Australian label.
