Dutch label SlapFunk - a loose collective of DJs and producers dedicated to the rougher end of deep house - has decided to push the boat out for this fourth installment in the popular Raw Joints series. This time, they've expanded from one 12" to two, packing in no less than eight tracks, all of which bristle with heavy drum machine rhythms, fuzzy textures, and basslines that make you want to strut your stuff. Interestingly, there's a strong garage influence on some of the stand-out tracks - see the warped basslines, skipping drums and industrial electronics of U Know The Drill's "Back On It", and the two-step shuffle of Stooge Wilson and Otmar Haze's "Not Your Average Phonecall" - while Locklead does a convincing impersonation of Omar-S on the excellent "Keep Going".
