With Lomdit EP we have arrived at Levi Verspeeks 3rd solo record. Dutch label SlapFunk - a loose collective of DJs and producers dedicated to the rougher end of deep house - has decided to push the boat out for this fourth installment in the popular Raw Joints series. This time, they've expanded from one 12" to two, packing in no less than eight tracks, all of which bristle with heavy drum machine rhythms, fuzzy textures, and basslines that make you want to strut your stuff. Interestingly, there's a strong garage influence on some of the stand-out tracks - see the warped basslines, skipping drums and industrial electronics of U Know The Drill's "Back On It", and the two-step shuffle of Stooge Wilson and Otmar Haze's "Not Your Average Phonecall" - while Locklead does a convincing impersonation of Omar-S on the excellent "Keep Going".

Having established DeepSystems as a radio show some years back, Matt Pond (one third of the BitterSuite collective) has decided to launch a record label under the same name. Given his contacts, it's a smart move. Two close pals - BitterSuite member Jon Gray and Dan '1Dan' Rodgers - join forces as Tales Ov Rossi, laying down a slowly shifting chunk of deep, heads-down tech-house that stretches across one side of the 12". On the flip, Gray goes solo under the BitterSuite banner, delivering the two-part "Familiar Currents". Both versions sound heavily inspired by the dense percussion, expansive musicality and rich soundscapes of Ron Trent. It's a comparison that Gray will no doubt enjoy.

Following his Lotus S7ven album with Hector Moralez, Chris Carrier delivers his first full length since 2010's Gosse De Paris double-pack. A staple for the French Robsoul label, Carrier now finds himself in Holland writing LPs for SlapFunk Records, a label launched in 2012 that's so far released music from a host of emerging house heads. Carrier, now SlapFunk's marquee artist, delivers a full listen of smooth and sweet deep house with a slight touch of abstract Perlon-isms and creative, almost industrial, sound designs - and a release that'll put SlapFunk on the map at that.
