Much like Crowded House, you know more Dave Clark songs than you think you do. In fact, Mr Clark's musical endeavours past & present trace a line through the occult history of the Glasgow underground. Along with JD Twitch he made up the Optimo Espacio remix unit, reworking tracks by the likes of Factory Floor, Boris & Pharoahe Monch (?!). As a member of Big Ned he's traversed the nefarious regions of Post-Beefheart Shaman Rock. With Roger Elliot as State of Flux he released a series of stone-cold killing Techno records in the mid-90's. Under the guise of LUMA, Clark put out one of 2013's most anthemic 12"s for Optimo Trax in the form of the Amesville EP. As Truffle Club - driving electronic disco for the likes of Andy Blake's much-lauded Dissident imprint. Here however, he returns to the moniker of Sparky, a name you might already be familiar with having probably copped the Drexciyan epic "Portland" - the title track having been subsequently remixed by no less than Ricardo Villalobos & Tuff City Kids respectively. With this inimitable EP, Sparky dug deep into the archives to unearth two unique cuts recorded direct to tape in 1994. yes: NINETEEN-NINETY-FOUR. Listening to these tracks it becomes immediately apparent how ahead of the curve Clark was in dem heady dayz. Anyway, enough of the talkin - it's now time to step though the doors of Gnarnia and wash yourself in the light of.... the "Tapes".

Celebrating our 20th release, Glasgow's Dave Clark returns to Optimo Trax as Sparky. He was responsible for the third release on the label as LUMA which featured the club smash "John Broadwood" and recently had another big club hit with "Signals" on Numbers. We are delighted to welcome him back in what is a contunuation of a relationship that stretches back further than we care to remember. All four tracks here are certified dancefloor winners; from the reach for the lasers, kickless "Things Fall Apart" through the synth rhapsodies of "Black Swan" and "My Prophet", climaxing in the jacking "Seven Daggers". All killer, no filler is often a trite cliche in these blurbs but is entirely true in the case of this EP.

GDM (Glaswegian Dance Music) pioneer - Sparky (aka Dave Clark) is back on Numbers. Having spent the last year on lockdown in his luxurious garden studio we have finally managed to wrestle two tracks out of his ageing hands. 'Signals' is an all-new track, first heard on Dave’s Essential Mix for BBC Radio 1 (aired as part of Jackmaster's Made In Glasgow), and now in the sets of Ben UFO and JD Twitch. 'Signals' is classic Sparky, nailing that sweet spot between the proto-techno sounds of British synth pop and the dancefloor nous of the Motor City. The flip is a snarling metal-bashing beast called 'Tigress' which comes direct from his archives. We've been on at him to release this one for almost a decade and after playing a 192 mp3 at a pretty boisterous Numbers x Optimo party last summer, Sparky finally relented. One day we'll convince Sparky to let us release all the music sitting in his vaults but for now here are two gems from a man whose music has played a pivotal role in the history of Numbers.

Deejay Deer was born and raised in the Bavarian wilderness and is to our knowledge the first forest dwelling animal to use the prefix ‘Deejay’. Deejay Deer produces music of such high quality and depth that most people think he’s a true pro who has been hiding in a studio for the past 20 years. Deejay Deer is hiding in the woods to protect himself from all the fake producers in the city.

It is with honour & pleasure that we present to you the return of one of the finest in game! Active since god-knows-when, and equally known as artist, label owner, event promoter and all-round champion of all that’s right and proper, Semtek has cast a long shadow in the electronic underground over the past two decades. Ever the mercurial savant, Benji distils a wide range of influences that have shaped his various endeavours on his first 12” for us: from the darkside revivalism of DJ Persuasion through to the raw productions of L.M.Y.E, and even down to his earliest productions on DBA. RAD-SEM1 is two tracks of ice-cold club cuts that capture the chilly futurism of second wave Detroit Techno, the sparser fringes of UKG and the abyssal soundscapes of late 90s DnB. But as is characteristic of Semtek’s output, always far greater than the sum of its parts.

In accordance with relativity, they are in some sense interchangeable, but we do know that they form co-equal parts of a larger 'thing' called space-time, and it is only within space-time that the most complete understanding of the motion and properties of natural objects and phenomena can be rigorously understood by physicists. Space and time are to space-time what arms and legs are to humans. In some sense they are interchangeable, but you cannot understand 10,000 years of human history without including both arms and legs as part of the basic human condition.

Gen Ludd are Glasgow-based Rich McMaster (Golden Teacher, Modern Institute) and Tom Marshallsay, both of whom are a big part of the extended Rubadub family. Their music perfectly embodies the Rubadub ethos of music for heads and feet. After months of negotiations with our minister of finance Hillington West Snr, TAFKNAGL (That artists formerly known as General Ludd) return with four precise cuts of pure rhythm and motion. These tracks are a message to the Ramona-toting, gymnasium-powered international dance deejay. Please be bold enough to play them... you’ll make the world a better place. We’ll give you free WAVS too.

When someone drops a CD in, and says "I've recorded a couple of tracks, that I would like to put on on vinyl, would be up for distributing them ?" " One of them is not finished yet though, I just need to put some trumpets on it", well your expectations are not particularly high. It's a wonder that it even made it on toThe record flew out the door.Few months later we pressed a 12 for him on P&D deal. It didn't sell as well, which is often the way with records we love. Fast forward few years.. I got a call from the 'No Trumpet Man' aka FAKE LEFT, who had another couple of tracks he'd done. My first thoughts were, sorry afraid we can't help out this time... then had a listen, second thoughts were.. Fuck Aye, these have got to go out. So here they are.RAD-TRUMPET1 - as you'll see on the scribe.. well there is the story. When we sent this off to master, we were not sure what the catalogue number would be. So the files were titled Rad Trumpet.. with a view to updating before the lacquers were cut and test presses done. Of course we forgot, and only realised when the test presses came back as RAD-TRUMPET.. and I'm left having to explain to Graeme via these notes that he is 'affectionately' known here as Trumpet Man.So RAD-FAKE we'll let the music speak for itself.. and not a trumpet in sight. Oh apart from the stamp.. but that's another more politically based story.

Ned Ludd, possibly born Edward Ludlam, is the person from whom, it is popularly claimed, the Luddites took their name. In 1779, Ludd is supposed to have broken two stocking frames in a fit of rage. After this incident, attacks on the frames were jokingly blamed on Ludd. When the "Luddites" emerged in the 1810s, his identity was appropriated to become the folkloric character of Captain Ludd, also known as King Ludd or General Ludd, the Luddites' alleged leader and founder.

Now might not be the best point in time to be referencing Rolf Harris, but.... can you guess what it is yet? It ain't gonna be hard for those in the know. The second in Rubadub's white label series sees a gang of veteran knob twiddlers with over 20 years of experience under their belt. At this stage we might as well just tell you who it is..... but we're still not gonna. Strictly limited pressing. When it's gone, it's..... copies stashed away in the warehouse to flog on discogs for £300 a pop after everywhere else sells out. One clue : the cat no is RAD-FRK1 !
