Much like Crowded House, you know more Dave Clark songs than you think you do. In fact, Mr Clark's musical endeavours past & present trace a line through the occult history of the Glasgow underground. Along with JD Twitch he made up the Optimo Espacio remix unit, reworking tracks by the likes of Factory Floor, Boris & Pharoahe Monch (?!). As a member of Big Ned he's traversed the nefarious regions of Post-Beefheart Shaman Rock. With Roger Elliot as State of Flux he released a series of stone-cold killing Techno records in the mid-90's. Under the guise of LUMA, Clark put out one of 2013's most anthemic 12"s for Optimo Trax in the form of the Amesville EP. As Truffle Club - driving electronic disco for the likes of Andy Blake's much-lauded Dissident imprint. Here however, he returns to the moniker of Sparky, a name you might already be familiar with having probably copped the Drexciyan epic "Portland" - the title track having been subsequently remixed by no less than Ricardo Villalobos & Tuff City Kids respectively. With this inimitable EP, Sparky dug deep into the archives to unearth two unique cuts recorded direct to tape in 1994. yes: NINETEEN-NINETY-FOUR. Listening to these tracks it becomes immediately apparent how ahead of the curve Clark was in dem heady dayz.
