You must surrender. Because if you’ve followed Naum Gabo over the past 15 years – across various 12-inches, styles, and notable labels - and you’re listening to “F. Lux,” their first proper album, then you’re probably wondering how you wound up here, all the way down, barely able to see through the brain-clogging atmosphere and towering low-end. “F. Lux” is a deep, enthralling listen, alternating between moments of pounding, world-ending techno (“Schinokapsala” and “This 1”) and sharply imagined, surrealist scenes painted with metallic machines (“Aora” and “Haerstag”). There is light to be found in the darkness, but the only way out is through. Naum Gabo are Glasgow’s Jonnie Wilkes (also known as one-half of DJ duo Optimo) and James Savage (prolific mastering engineer). F. Lux was written and produced entirely by them at their Glasgow Hottrax Studios and mastered by James Savage. The album’s front cover artwork is a painting by cherished Scottish painter, Andrew Cranston. The vinyl was pressed at MPO in France using lacquers cut by Bob Weston in Chicago. More

After kicking off the year with releases by Wheelman and General Ludd, we’re very pleased to announce that Naum Gabo completes our recent trilogy of releases from Glasgow based artists. Alongside Ivan Smagghe, it’s no secret that Optimo have been a huge influence around these parts and having released Ivan’s Smagghe & Cross project on Belters last year, it’s a huge honour to work with Naum Gabo - the production partnership of Jonnie Wilkes (JG Wikes of Optimo) and James Savage (Mastering Engineer for Optimo Music). Fittingly enough, Naum Gabo played live at the first ever Optimo related parties we attended at the Sub Club back in 2005 and Jonnie’s influential and supportive presence has been felt over the years as we started to become more involved in the Glasgow scene and as the label developed. So it didn’t require much thought to do this release before we had even heard these new Naum Gabo tracks…they are absolute slammers of the highest order! Their music perfectly embodies the Rubadub ethos of music for heads and feet. When someone drops a CD in, and says "I've recorded a couple of tracks, that I would like to put on on vinyl, would be up for distributing them ?" " One of them is not finished yet though, I just need to put some trumpets on it", well your expectations are not particularly high. It's a wonder that it even made it on toThe record flew out the door.Few months later we pressed a 12 for him on P&D deal. It didn't sell as well, which is often the way with records we love. Fast forward few years.. I got a call from the 'No Trumpet Man' aka FAKE LEFT, who had another couple of tracks he'd done. My first thoughts were, sorry afraid we can't help out this time... then had a listen, second thoughts were.. Fuck Aye, these have got to go out. So here they are.RAD-TRUMPET1 - as you'll see on the scribe.. well there is the story. When we sent this off to master, we were not sure what the catalogue number would be. So the files were titled Rad Trumpet.. with a view to updating before the lacquers were cut and test presses done. Of course we forgot, and only realised when the test presses came back as RAD-TRUMPET.. and I'm left having to explain to Graeme via these notes that he is 'affectionately' known here as Trumpet Man.So RAD-FAKE we'll let the music speak for itself.. and not a trumpet in sight. Oh apart from the stamp.. but that's another more politically based story. More

Ned Ludd, possibly born Edward Ludlam, is the person from whom, it is popularly claimed, the Luddites took their name. In 1779, Ludd is supposed to have broken two stocking frames in a fit of rage. After this incident, attacks on the frames were jokingly blamed on Ludd. When the "Luddites" emerged in the 1810s, his identity was appropriated to become the folkloric character of Captain Ludd, also known as King Ludd or General Ludd, the Luddites' alleged leader and founder.

Much like Crowded House, you know more Dave Clark songs than you think you do. In fact, Mr Clark's musical endeavours past & present trace a line through the occult history of the Glasgow underground. Along with JD Twitch he made up the Optimo Espacio remix unit, reworking tracks by the likes of Factory Floor, Boris & Pharoahe Monch (?!). As a member of Big Ned he's traversed the nefarious regions of Post-Beefheart Shaman Rock. With Roger Elliot as State of Flux he released a series of stone-cold killing Techno records in the mid-90's. Under the guise of LUMA, Clark put out one of 2013's most anthemic 12"s for Optimo Trax in the form of the Amesville EP. As Truffle Club - driving electronic disco for the likes of Andy Blake's much-lauded Dissident imprint. Here however, he returns to the moniker of Sparky, a name you might already be familiar with having probably copped the Drexciyan epic "Portland" - the title track having been subsequently remixed by no less than Ricardo Villalobos & Tuff City Kids respectively. With this inimitable EP, Sparky dug deep into the archives to unearth two unique cuts recorded direct to tape in 1994. yes: NINETEEN-NINETY-FOUR. Listening to these tracks it becomes immediately apparent how ahead of the curve Clark was in dem heady dayz. Anyway, enough of the talkin - it's now time to step though the doors of Gnarnia and wash yourself in the light of.... the "Tapes". More

The second in Rubadub's white label series sees a gang of veteran knob twiddlers with over 20 years of experience under their belt. At this stage we might as well just tell you who it is..... but we're still not gonna. Strictly limited pressing. When it's gone, it's..... copies stashed away in the warehouse to flog on discogs for £300 a pop after everywhere else sells out. One clue : the cat no is RAD-FRK1 !
