Another classic from the West End archives! Forrrce's "Keep On Dancin" from 1982 was a huge record across the board from Bronx block parties to the Paradise Garage in NYC and DJ Harvey's "Moist" nights in London town, it's popularity was bolstered by a fierce Francois K dub mix on the B-side that stripped the record right back to it's most basic elements with a healthy dose of reverb assisted psychedelia thrown in for good measure! This killer cowbell led Boogie jam has always been a big hit with Disco freaks and continues to sound fresh some 30+ years later even making it's way into veteran UK DJ and music historian Sean P's "100 Boogie Essentials 1980-1984" list. High praise indeed! Re-mastered from original tape transfers, re-pressed and made available again for 2015 in conjunction with West End Records, New York City.

One of West Ends biggest admirers is one of the UK's longest serving DJ's and editors, a truly legendary Northern selector who's unique reel to reel DJ sets and reworks has gained him fans worldwide and continues to do so. Ladies and gentlemen, we give you Greg Wilson's West End versions, 4 tracks of unparalleled funk touched by the man himself who has also kindly supplied some choice words about this special release: "West End has a particular place in my heart. Along with Prelude, it was my main go-to label during the early ‘80s, an underground New York powerhouse issuing a relentless run of now classic and cult-classic club cuts during the time I was DJing at Legend in Manchester. For me personally, the label is forever connected with this then futuristic venue, West End’s progressive approach to dance music, incorporating electronic elements to play a key role in ushering in the Electro-Funk era, finding its perfect environment at Legend, with tracks by Stone, and especially the Peech Boys’ hugely influential ‘Don’t Make Me Wait’, providing major stepping stones. This is a project that holds a deeper resonance for me, given my personal relationship with the label, and I’m so happy to contribute to the series; the 4 favourites tracks I selected for this release illustrating West End’s best qualities – serious grooves and soulful vocals. The edit of ‘You Can’t Take Your Cake And Eat It Too’ by B.T. (Brenda Taylor) was originally featured on my first Credit To The Edit compilation, back in 2005, whilst Raw Silk’s ‘Do It To The Music’ was also edited around the same period, but has never been made available until now. ‘Keep On Dubbin’’ by Forrrce, although not as big as the other inclusions at the time, was an ahead of its time hybrid, mixed by François Kevorkian, whose dub awakening had taken place the previous year, and Shirley Lites ‘Heat You Up (Melt You Down)’, which draws from the instrumental ‘Melt Down Mix’, the version of choice at Legend, where dub and instrumental mixes often trumped the main vocal versions" A truly golden era of dance music history, all killer - no filler! All tracks featured re-edited by Greg Wilson and re-mastered, re-pressed and re-released with the permission of and in conjunction with West End Records, New York City / BMG. '

taana gardner - When You Touch Me (Instrumental)
NYC's legendary West End record label has contributed a fair few classics to the disco cannon and continues to influence dance music today with it's forward looking releases. 'When you touch me' is no exception, recorded and released in the golden year of 1979 and featuring the breathy, sensual vocals of a young Tanaa Gardner who had previously worked as a backing vocalist for numerous other projects until the label released her (other) stone cold solo classic 'Work that body' the same year on 12".
Both cuts featured on her self titled debut LP and boasted the combined production and studio talents of Kenton Nix, Bob Blank and of course - Larry Levan. Now, that's a serious line-up to have behind the boards (& in the clubs!) and of course 'When you touch me' was a classic with it's slow, elongated intro that calls to mind a sleazier version of Donna Summer's 'Love hangover' before launching into a full-on disco assault that you won't forget in a hurry! Yes, the record surprises you, Tanaa leads us into a false sense of a 'slow jam' and then - Boom - We're off! Backed with the incredible instrumental version the 12" is repressed here in it's original 1979 glory, an essential classic that has stood the test of time for the last 30+ years & is now available again, remastered & repressed for 2017 in conjunction with West End Records, NYC. The legendary West End Records kick off 2017 with the a brand new re-edits series inviting like-minded producers with an underground thirst and a deep understanding of house & disco culture to collaborate on a very special project. First up, Wolf Music man Medlar; applying his dancefloor know-how to West End’s rich archive of classic disco and boogie. Hand picking four personal favourites, Medlar reworks them perfectly for current club sets. Picking out dub sections and skilfully reworking & extending them proving exactly why Medlar has been such a draw to labels like Delusions of Grandeur and For Discos Only. “I put these edits together for myself and a few friends to play in our DJ sets. West End was one of the key stepping stones to what would later become house music and for many is the definitive sound of early 80s New York. I'd argue that it's aged better than any other label of that era and if you're relatively new to the label or know it inside out, the catalogue can likely still provide something new.”
These four sublime new edits from Medlar showcase his passion for digging deep, knowledge of house history and skills as a producer. More

HUGE record alert! Possibly one of the rarest (and funkiest!) jams on the legendary West End label! "Touch Your Life" is an elusive beast, co-produced and mixed by Bert Reid (Crown Heights Affair, Empress) and steeped in low slung, spaced out electronic Funk, this 1982 release is surely one of the most sought after in the labels catalog. A slick quiet storm number featuring the ultra smooth, laid back vocals of the Millers backed with some serious synthed-out grooves, a real beauty of a track that will appeal to all Disco, Soul, Electro-Funk and Boogie heads alike. Both the vocal mix and the instrumental are featured here just like the original 12" release. This is the very first time this record has ever been re-issued in over 30 years. Don't miss your chance to scoop up a true rarity, used copies of "Touch Your Life" usually sell for above the £100 mark and don't turn up very often, if at all! This re-issue has been re-mastered from the original tapes and re-pressed with original label artwork in full collaboration with West End Records, New York city.

Sounds Of Inner City - Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman
Another killer, rare Disco offering from deep within the legendary West End Records vaults. Released in 1976 and mixed by the mighty Tom Moulton, this split 12" is one of the labels earliest releases and features two sumptuous, epic cuts from the initial wave of Disco 12"s. Both tracks featured heavily on the play-lists of various cult NYC Disco jocks, including Larry Levan, David Mancuso and many more. Jakki's "You Are The Star" is a deep, funky journey for the dancers, while on the flip side, the Vince Montana Jr. produced instrumental version of Sounds Of Inner City's "Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman" (A Disco ode to the cult 70's soap opera star) features. A long sought after 12" by Disco fans for many years, this release has fetched top collectors prices on-line in the past. Now it has been made available again, re-mastered, re-pressed and re-released in conjunction with West End Records and featuring all original label artwork.

The album marks something of a return to the duo’s house music roots, with a four-to-the-floor foundation underpinning many of the eleven tracks. It exudes a warm, natural sound, where samples sit with modular synths, programmed drums with live loops, and quirky plugins with obscure outboard gear.
Opening track, ‘I Float in the Clouds’, sets a dramatic tone with intricately interwoven guitar and keyboard lines, fragmented, spectral vocals and deep, melodic bass. Tempos range widely throughout the record, from the loose, low-slung grooves of ‘So They Were Changed’ and ‘High Wire’, to the infectious, mid-paced title track, to the intense house workouts of ‘You Came Into My Life’ and ‘All In Everything’. Greg and Shane’s long established dub leanings are also in evidence, especially on the slow motion churn of ‘Low Tide Dub’ and spacious atmospherics of ‘South Gate Step’. The album closes on an open and optimistic note with the soothing pads and deep electronic pulse of ‘Be Brave’, the result of a collaborative project with author Lisa McInerney and actor, Hillary Rose.

Bolina Records, born in Italy and based in Stockholm, is the brainchild of the Cerrado Studio crew, a dynamic team of artists and DJs who have been organizing events and innovative initiatives since 2008.
Veteran DJ-producer Sebra Cruz (formerly of Margot and A&R for Bolina Records), after releasing his debut album with Life And Death by Dj Tennis, has teamed up with his protégé, Giacomo Cancellieri. Over the years, Cancellieri has become one of Sebra's favorite artists, with Sebra often describing him as a truly brilliant mind, consistently impressed by the new tracks he produces. Giacomo has notable releases on Rebellion and Margot Records.
"Rollerball," titled after Norman Jewison's 1975 film, carries a powerful anti-war message. It includes 4 versions plus an acapella, the latter intended to encourage DJ-producers of various genres to incorporate it in their tracks, thereby spreading the anti-war message on dance floors worldwide.
The original mix captures the essence of intimate club settings — intense yet lucid, with a sound texture fitting for an underground label. It continuously and forcefully spreads the anti-war message with deep seriousness.
The Funky Vocal Mix offers an Italo-French vibe, blending the smooth ambiance of 2000s dance music with a raw vocal tone.
Buck's version, hailing from Otranto, a quaint seaside town in the extreme south of Italy and owner of Substrato label, is marked by solid, rolling grooves that complement a deep and refined atmosphere.
Delphi's remix, one half of Tiger And Woods with Marco Passarani, completes the set. Its arrangement skillfully connects Chill and Detroit styles, infusing the project with a sense of robustness and insight.

The idea that France once had a genius and let him go to California where he was more welcome and appreciated than in Paris is, in the digital area, a trivial issue. Every single Web entrepreneur heads towards the Silicon Valley to develop his ideas. During the 70's, this was less ordinary. Back then, it was another area, music, which witnessed the departure of a very talented guy for the United States, a country that quickly understood he was a star.
Marc Cerrone, a trained drummer and disco phenomenon who sold more albums than many other artists put together, saw his career magnified by America but also slightly twisted by France which quickly reduced him to a style, disco music, without trying to understand who he was and how relevant his talent was. The O'Jays - For The Love Of Money
2
The O'Jays - Darlin' Darlin' Baby (Sweet, Tender, Love)
Two incredible 70’s soul cuts from The O’Jays get the reissue treatment for 2018. The A side contains the mighty ‘For The Love Of Money’ a near 7 minute cautionary tale to the dangers of greed and exploitation. "For the love of money. People will lie, Lord, they will cheat. For the love of money. People don't care who they hurt or beat." As pertinent now as it was in the 70’s if not more so considering current affairs. A much sampled record, loved by many! On the flip, ‘Darlin' Darlin' Baby (Sweet, Tender, Love)’, the second hit single off the O’Jay’s album ‘Message In The Music’, is a romantic soul serenade with that killer Gamble and Huff production – Philly’s finest!

Rewind to 1995. Kevorkian's 'Wave Music' imprint has come into existence with a handful of releases. No-one could imagine that his self-produced 'FK EP' - the next release on the label - would be a stone cold classic. Easily one of the most consistent, exciting and solid EP's to come out of NYC during this golden era of dance music. Across 4 tracks we are taken on a sound journey through a world that is undoubtedly informed by FK's time as an engineer, DJ and most importantly, a music lover. EP opener 'Hypnodelic' brings us into this world, a deep, driving cut that fuses the dubbed out vocals of Freddie Turner against FK's keyboards and immaculate drum programming, oozing cosmic electronic soul, this track was destined to be a future classic. 'Mindspeak' also boasts some tough drums and with a respectful nod to Chicago is an incredibly mixed and arranged peak-time cut that will drive your dancefloor into deep space again and again. 'Edge Of Time' welcomes us to the flipside of the EP, wild Latin percussions, tablas and old school horn stabs drive this monstrous cut, not to mention cavernous dub FX and that huge bassline that just doesn't let up. Essential. 'Moov' rounds things out on a more subdued, stripped back vibe. Reversed percussions and spaced-out synth chords lace this beautifully understated and warm track, one that builds into a crescendo of melodies and hypnotic rhythms and the perfect way to close what has been a truly special musical journey. This essential reissue of the 'FK EP' has been fully licensed, sanctioned and remastered in conjunction with FK from the original master sources by Optimum Mastering, Bristol UK, repressed onto high quality vinyl and packaged as the 1995 release was. A truly classic record indeed, available again for 2018. Welcome back Wave Music!

George Duke - I Want You Myself (Tom Moulton Mix)
2
George Duke - Brazilian Love Affair
Repress.
Two all-time George Duke greats, 'I Want You for Myself' & 'Brazilian Love Affair', get the official remastered, reissue treatment.
First up, 'I Want You For Myself' Duke's 1979 jazz funk, R&B tinged gem has got all the ingredients of classic from his illustrious catalogue. A funked up guitar and exuberant percussion, compliment Lynn Davis' fabulously soulful vocals perfectly to make this a love song that's sweeter than most. A Duke classic wouldn't be complete without a killer, keys solo and 'I Want You For Myself' shows off his talents in abundance. The infamous Tom Moulton takes on edit duties splicing it into a 10-minute exploration of this fusion powerhouse, extending and enhancing elements in the mix, alongside adding an epic breakdown in a way that only he knows how.
On the B side, the stone-cold killer 'Brazilian Love Affair' is a Latin American, jazz funk classic. Recorded in Rio de Janeiro, Duke drafted in a host of greats to guest on the track, each bringing something unique to the table. From Airto Moreira's expert latin drumming, to Byron Miller's heavyweight bass and Roland Bautista's overdriven guitar. Duke supplements this to a tee with his blissful vocals and an otherworldly Rhodes solo. Much sampled, much loved, this is a masterpiece that needs a place in the collection. More

Brawther - VXVXVX
If you say Brawther you mean trip, like the cities he lived in (Paris, Leeds, Lisbon) and the countries where his DJ's sets have been (Sweden, Japan, UK).
Back To Life with this collection wants to propose a journey, with music.
Directly from one of his first productions on My Love Is Underground, "Don't Go" has been defined: "a very dark track with violent beats that can be used in a hard deep house or strong techno set! Very good use of vocals with a sensual female voice." "Negentropy" is perfect for club use. Someone says: "the kinda Deep gem that plays in your head for weeks."
Last but not least "VXVXVX" taken from the Balance label is a true classic of the modern deephouse. More
