Ramona is proud to welcome back one of the most delicate flowers in the business to her flock of loved ones. Alan Abrahams, also better known under the monikers of Bodycode and Portable, returns with his new Single "Surrender" under the Portable alias into Ramonas bosom. "Surrender" takes their listeners on a five-minute-trip to a very emotional place right on the dance-floor. Soft synths, a cosy drum-rhythm and cheerful melodies build the perfect bed for Abrahams' longing voice and its deeply sensitive vocals. Moments of pure felicitousness will fill the air once this track slowly floats the room. Included on the single are the dub version of "Surrender" and an acapella-piece. Ramona already gave herself up to the soft and warm sounds of Mister Portable - why wouldn't you?

Short Info:
Alan Abrahams aka Portable returns to the label in fine form with his latest full-length LP, Augmented
Dreams. The title refers to the use of everyday technological advancements to achieve what were once
only dreams or visions of past generations, making this an explorative concept album that is equal parts
not-too-distant science fiction, and about as topical as it gets.
From the gorgeous opening string layers of “The Pull of Time” to the classy 4/4 grooves of “Begin Again”
or lead single “Guiding Me”, into the apropos and angular sci-fi broken beat feels of “Parallax” and “The
Color of Static”, fitting Detroit-influenced love taps like “Beacon” and “The Mycorrhizal Network”, the
politically-inspired “Are We Not Above It?” referencing the lingering effects of colonization featuring NiQ
E from South Africa on vocals and L_cio from Brazil on flute, through to the futurist pop elegance of the
dreamy duet recorded with Alexey Kochetkov “I Need You” and the conclusive titular track, it is clear
that both the in-depth concept and immaculately-crafted musical content in Portable’s inimitable style
are balanced in significance and expressive effect. This also functions as a timely statement in itself, as
today’s iceberg-tip evolution of AI technology is currently impending over the arts and many of our
existing realities.
This ten-song album serves as an imaginative yet hyperrealist narrative on how humanity’s fascination
with and reliance on ever-advancing technology defines the times we find ourselves in, while the skillful
sonic displays and present-era production techniques along with Abraham’s knack for timeless emotive
songwriting offer up this solid soundtrack for the ages. More

Short Info:
The ever-prolific and established artist Alan Abrahams aka Portable makes a swift and very welcome return to Circus Company with the impressive lead single "Guiding Me", giving us an early taste of his forthcoming album Augmented Dreams to be released in the fall.
Conceptually the direction of this new project refers to the use of technology to alter our dreams, inadvertently or not, as so much tech advancement becomes available and ingrained in our daily lives. The timely lead single here inspired by Abraham's South African ancestors the Khoi San people and the guidance they provide, appropriately exuding both futurist formed sonics and dream-like tenderness in content, led by his dulcet-toned vocals and delivered with the super solid production we've come to expect. Wonderful multi-purpose electronic music which will find itself right at home on late-night discerning dance floors, or indeed guiding the listener through their respective travels, solo meditations or get-downs in headphones.
Along with the excellent "Guiding Me" original mix, we are graced with a masterful remix by Hamburg's Lawrence of Smallville and Dial fame, who takes the track into an even more floor-focussed realm with his patented rolling sub-bass lines which will guarantee plenty of summertime sound system finessing, as well as the EP-exclusive B2 track "Vigor" in which Portable goes even deeper in tone with classic styled vocal cut-ups and repurposed shards of tasty sound design added to keep the dancers endlessly entranced when and wherever they may be.

Portable - Ripple Effect (Call Super Remix)
(colored eco vinyl)
Genre: House, Minimal, Electronica
Tracklist :
A1. The Spacetime Curvature (DJ Qu Remix) - A2. I Feel Stronger Now (Patrice Scott Remix) -
B1. Ripple Effect (Call Super Remix)
Short Info:
In the wake of Portable’s acclaimed album My Sentient Shadow comes a trio of remixes which expand
on his unique slant on techno and synth-pop. Finding three artists who reflect his own experimental
tendencies within dance music, Alan Abraham’s original productions head into unexpected new places
while retaining the physical, club-ready energy he manages to instill in his own creations.
A true auteur within techno, DJ Qu brings a sense of poise and drama to ‘The Spacetime Curvature’
as he patiently builds the track into a fierce peak time monster driven by snarling bass and his
signature sizzling, shuffled percussion.
Patrice Scott has a reliably smooth, immersive approach to deep Detroit house, and it lends itself
beautifully to Abraham’s melancholic vocal on ‘I Feel Stronger Now’.
Leaning in on the jazz dimension of his wide-ranging electronica, Call Super revels in the sweetness of
‘Ripple Effect’ and places delicate piano playing upfront before slipping into a relaxed, sentimental
kind of garage and eventually edging towards an uplifting, off-centre strain of house music.
Individual in their own right and yet naturally entwined with the emotional intention of the original
versions, this is a set of remixes which pay full credit to the source material while offering something
you won’t expect, like a great remix should do. More

Short Info:
Following hot on the heels of lead single and recent mind-body tantalizer “I Feel Stronger Now,” we are now truly proud to present you with Portable’s latest full-length My Sentient Shadow. Filled to the brim with all of the
inventiveness the sonic auteur has commanded we expect from his sizable and consistent body of work on worldrenown labels such as Perlon, ~scape, !K7, and his own Süd Electronic and Khoikhoi imprints, and dare we say
offering us perhaps the most cohesive, emotive, and balanced of his highly-admirable catalog here to date. By using the analogy of a shadow that possesses its own consciousness, the theme of light and its distortion vs
balance with the inherent and necessary darkness that surrounds it is in clear vision.
Immediately from the warmly bizarre vibes of opening cut “The Simulacrum”, it’s clear Portable is requesting clearance to other worlds of funk and ingenuity. The delightfully trippy, smoky, back-room of the Tattooine Cantina
feel sets the stage just right to curb expectations and let the carefully constructed noise movements wash over us.
Elsewhere amongst the generous set we find tracks like “Cages” and “Ripple Effect” continue in the direction of horizontally-maximized aural tapestries oozing with texture, while at the other end of the energy spectrum pieces
such as “The Self-Assembling” and “We Exist..” roll and bounce with all the sci-fi gyrations and slick synth layers hinting at a hypnotic halfway rendezvous point to his Bodycode moniker. And of course, no proper Portable outing
would be complete without his own robust tenor vocal tone, which feels right at home front-and-center on the space travel anthem “The Spacetime Curvature” and used in more calculated micro-doses on “Analogue World”,
as well as the gorgeous “Foreign to You” whose meta-title features a rare guest starring vocalist NiQ.E, and brings to hearts some of Herbert’s finer moments with dear friend Dani Siciliano, albeit done-up entirely in some
distant yet alluring parallel dimension. The LP journey finishes with the frenetically-charged closer “Fractal Distortion” which will no doubt please many-a cosmic techno purist while making percussion masters from the
afterlife such as Jaki Liebezeit and Tony Allen proud, and is quite possibly the closest thing to a danceable musical take on the current state of cognitive dissonance in the world that surrounds us, offering us a one-way
ticket out from the not-too-distant future. Please join us in welcoming and celebrating this wonderful album from Portable on Circus Company.

Short Info:
We are elated to invite the multi-talented and multi-national musical mastermind Portable in to the Circus family finally. After many years of traveling in similar scenes and orbits, and thoroughly enjoying his vast output on some of our favorite and best friends’ labels, the time has come to join forces with our now-fellow Parisian dweller.
The My Event Horizon EP is a truly creative treat, chock full of the charm and studio ingenuity that permeates all of his work, and a first look at what’s to come on his full length LP we have in store for you in the coming months as well. Two versions of the lead track “I Feel Stronger Now” are accompanied by an exclusive club cut, just in time for the world’s hopeful dance floor reopenings.
“I Feel Stronger Now” is one of those perfectly balanced tracks that is equal parts soft and edgy, mellow and exciting, and features a rich mix of sharp percussion, warm jazz-inflected piano motifs and Portable’s own inimitable dulcet-toned vocals, making it a sure-shot fit with the label’s modus operandi. The A2 track “My Art Sets Me Free” as the title may suggest, is a more abstract and artistic take on full-scale DSP dance floor equipment - we can already imagine hearing this on some of our most cherished club systems, head-down, fully immersed. Next up “I Feel Stronger Now” gets a fresh facelift treatment from Portable’s own and equally-notorious alter ego Bodycode, which follows suit to the pseudonym’s production quality, giving the avant-garde bounce of the original version a more syncopated and stripped-back feel, imparting a stronger physical sound bed with tasteful synth layering for the vocal Iines to ride over. And as a digital bonus addition to the package we have the Radio Edit of “I Feel Stronger Now” which is nicely tightened in all the right places to drive the point home for broadcast listeners, and further proof that this man’s music can be fully enjoyed in many settings - a big loving welcome to Mr. Portable!

A1 This Frozen Lake (Original Mix)
A2 This Frozen Lake (Bodycode Remix)
B1 This Frozen Lake (Shackleton Mix)
"Absorbingly melancholic, it is heartbreakingly honest throughout"
(UK) DJ Mag 9/10
"Odd bedfellows as they might seem, minimal's clinical precision and the trembling passion of vintage soul have been entwined throughout Alan Abrahams' career. As Portable, the South African producer has made intriguing connections between the two genres, with ballads sung in a drowsy, soulful baritone over repetitive electronic grooves."
(UK) Resident Advisor
"Although a long-time Berlin redident, the music of his homeland echoes through this elegant debut"
(UK) Mixmag 8/10
"One of the most enigmatic men in House"
(DE) Spex
"His sounds are crystalline and his beats nicely sprung, his deep voice carries a slightly operatic pathos but without the often associated severity. Gentle melancholy in euphoric environments, that is Abraham's specialty."
(DE) Suddeutsche
"Perhaps his most personal work yet...11 tracks that see Portable's vocals at the forefront, as well as his own piano playing - forming a dynamic collection of songs built for myriad listening contexts."
(UK) Hyponik
"All in all, it's a release carved from a piece of Abrahams, like a sonic snapshot of this period of his life. Although painful, it's one that has resulted in a body of work full of melancholic beauty." XLR8R
"…the album documents a period of disruptions, transitions and exploration, both emotional and sonic, through a fascinating group of songs." NPR
"Alan Abrahams marks the symbolic debut of a new singer-songwriter, one who has lived in his own soundscapes long enough to know what kind of voice will anchor their oddities and compliment their effusions." Popmatters
"Abrahams continues to push on, as singer, songwriter, performer, and citizen of the world. That more people may encounter his music is for the better." Igloo

"Abrahams continues to push on, as singer, songwriter, performer, and citizen of the world. That more people may encounter his music is for the better." Igloo

Portable is Alan Abrahams, a South African born artist and producer who is also a celebrated live act. Emerging more than fifteen years ago with a sound that marries real electronic soul with deep moods and abstract grooves, he is someone who has released his minimal wares on cult labels like Perlon and Live At Robert Johnson, as well as his own Süd Electronic. Always experimenting with rhythm and imbuing his music with a wide world of influences, this latest work that proves that once more.
Portable's music reached a new level of exposure when the 2014 track "Surrender" received a "Best New Track" designation from Pitchfork, and appeared in re-edited form on DJ Koze's critically acclaimed DJ-Kicks mix (named the #1 mix of 2015 by Resident Advisor). Portable signed to !K7, and is to release his sixth full length artist album through the label in August 2016. The 11 track affair is his most personal yet, and as such is a self-titled work that features plenty of his own vocal work, as well as some choice collaborations.
The first 12" single sees Deetron and Bodycode deliver remixes alongside exclusive track 'Balanese Nights' that doesn't feature on the full length album.

In the heart of Offenbach, where the city's pulse synchronizes with the beat of the night, stands the illustrious Robert Johnson Club. For a quarter of a century, it has stood as a bastion of sonic exploration, a sanctuary for those who seek solace in the rhythm, and a beacon of inspiration for the global electronic music community. As it proudly raises its glass to toast 25 years of unrivaled musical excellence, the echoes of countless memories reverberate through its storied halls. To honor this landmark anniversary, „Live at Robert Johnson“ presents a kinda like masters blueprint of sound: "Tell Me Something Good - 25 Years of Famous When Dead!" This compilation, aptly named after the club's mantra, serves not only as a celebration of its rich history but also as a testament to the enduring legacy of the artists who have graced its stage. Crafted with meticulous attention to detail, each track on the compilation is a sonic journey unto itself—a symphony of beats and melodies that weave together to tell the story of Robert Johnson's evolution over the past quarter-century. From the pulsating rhythms of underground techno to the ethereal melodies of deep house, the compilation encapsulates the club's eclectic spirit and unwavering commitment to pushing the boundaries of electronic music. But beyond the music lies something deeper—an intangible energy that permeates every aspect of Robert Johnson's existence. It's the sense of camaraderie that binds together the club's patrons and artists alike, the shared experience of losing oneself in the music, and the profound sense of belonging that transcends language and culture. As the compilation reverberates through the speakers, it serves as a rallying cry—a call to arms for all who have ever felt the transformative power of music. It's a reminder that, even in the darkest of times, there is beauty to be found in the simple act of coming together and losing oneself in the rhythm of the night. So let us raise our voices in celebration of Robert Johnson Club and the indelible mark it has left on the world of electronic music. Here's to 25 years of passion, of creativity, and of "something good" that will echo through the ages for generations to come.

Irakli’s new album is due to come out September 2023 on Live at Robert Johnson. Mechanical Moon is a retrofuturistic adventure of beautiful compositions and pulsating rhythms which are weaved together over the span of eight tracks.
We are immersed into evocative atmospheres, full of intricate textures. This is techno where you close your eyes and board an ocean liner that slowly rises and floats towards the moon.
Happy human with sad eyes roamed the neon-lit streets of the artificial island. This section of the metropolis had been designed as a necessity more than any other amenities. It had been allocated a budget surpassing the one for waste management in a city housing over a billion inhabitants.
Society had managed to eradicate love, yet it still grappled with untamed primal instincts such as dancing, sex, or violence. The island provided a discreet haven, away from the prying eyes of telescreens that silently stared into all souls. Similar to Las Vegas centuries ago, it was a safe space where anything was fair game.
Once there, night time lasted all day. Everything retained an analog essence. Music emanated from vintage record players. Amidst the laughter and tears, the artificial glow of the mechanical moon had become the last reminder of life outside.
A life so repetitive that he had been consumed by the desire to transform into a machine or a human satellite. Yet, breaking the cycle in such a manner remained impossible. And so, he wandered for hours on the island, among the weary faces.
Happy as one could be. More

»Techno is a genre of electronic dance music (EDM) which is generally produced for use in a continuous DJ set, with tempo often varying between 120 and 150 beats per minute (bpm). The central rhythm is typically in common time (4/4) and often characterized by a repetitive four on the floor beat.«
Well, that's what Wikipedia says about »techno« - but can Laura BCR's music simply be called »techno«? We say it's much more than that. The French DJ and On Board Music label founder who took her name from the much-loved and now closed, Berlin record store, Bass Cadet Records, started to produce her very own music in 2020. Music which could easily fit in her transportive, deep techno and dubby ambient DJ sets. Sets that have brought her to some of Europe’s finest venues.
After her releases on SoHaSo, Semantica, Paloma, RDV Music, Technologia Organica or Sublunar we're happy to present to you her latest work for Live At Robert Johnson: »Human Behavior«.
The four tracks all share a deepness which is typical for a lot of her productions so far. This is repetitive music, yes - but also very atmospheric music. Whether it's the helicopter sound in first track »Farewell« which Laura put on top of layers of whirring synths sounds or the swelling and decaying sounds of »Long Wait«. Sounds which swallow you deep into their core and make you forget about the here and now. Yes, Laura's music is hypnotizing - and it has a certain psychedelic quality attached to it as well. This aspect of her music can be heard quite good in »Post Dynamic« with its electronic blowing wind sounds galore. Or in »Human Behavior«, the title track of Laura BCR's LARJ debut. Yet Laura never forgets the importance (and the power) of the bass drum and its four on the floor beat.
A beat that is the heartbeat of techno. And a beat that defines Laura BCR as well.
Now all hail the bass drum and all hail Laura BCR! More

Marvin & Guy - Supported By Your Favorite DJ
Let's go back to Italy with the dynamic duo Marvin & Guy aka Alessandro Parlatore and Marcello Giordani.
On their first release for Live At Robert Johnson they team up with another dynamic duo: Hard Ton - and you guessed right, they're Italian too.
So what else to expect than some real cool contemporary Italo Disco just in time for summer? »Save Me« comes in two different mixes: The »Disco Mix« and the »Club Mix« - both featuring the marvelous falsetto voice of Hard Ton's singer Max - himself quite a passionate singer in the field of Heavy Metal - AND Disco - yes, you heard right. But fear not, the Heavy Metal part isn't audible at all. We're talking Hi-NRG sounds galore and of course D.I.S.C.O. - the Munich style disco of someone like Giorgio Moroder doing his thing with Donna Summer or Harvey Fuqua's and Patrick Cowley's work with LGBT legend Sylvester - yes, the »You Make Me Feel (Mighty Real)« Sylvester. Not a bad company to get name-dropped, right?
Especially the »Disco Mix« of »Save Me« features many of those typical sounds of said producers and is a beautiful tribute to the golden disco era. The slightly darker »Club Mix« does a great job too by pulling all dancers straight onto the floor with its drum machine generated bass drum and its euphoric claps.
Marvin & Guy's solo track, the aptly named »Supported By Your Favourite DJ« will surely be supported by everyone of our favourite DJs: It's a happy and positive track which definitely will not fail as a secret weapon in everybody's DJ bag.
Now let's get saved by Marvin & Guy - and let's support the Italian scene - it's mighty real! More

SIRS - Intro
Welcome to another fine episode of SIRS aka »Sounds in real Stereo«! After last years' arrival on LARJ with his »Arrived EP«, Berlin based versatile DJ & producer Daniel Klein is back with »Travel To HDF.Y3D« - an utopian (or more likely dystopian) ode to space travel:
The last few remaining humans are traveling with 140bpm to the most distant galaxy in the universe on a mission to seek out a new space for mankind to live after many years of exploiting good old Mother Earth. What sounds like a horror scenario if you start thinking about it, SIRS manages to wrap up in quite a positive musical message. Thus »Travel To HDF.Y3D« becomes that hopeful uplifting slightly dreamy tune we all need these days - not unlike Christian Bruhn's theme of a certain Captain called Future back in 1980 …
It's also nice to have two more versions of such a strong tune at hand: The first one is a true first one for »Cocktail D'Amore« DJ BUDINO as she comes up with her first remix and production work ever. Budino's approach is a slightly darker, maybe indeed more dystopian one. The synthesizer bass lines dominate her remix and by getting rid of the original's playful melody she creates a very special melancholic feel.
Leipzig based PANTHERA KRAUSE's take isn't quite that different from Budino's as he too focuses on the darker vibes of this journey in space. It's his added extra dose of punch that surely will keep dancers on the floor for sure.
The former »Space Ibiza« resident SIRS now takes over the controls again with »Summer Desire« which too is destined to rule dancefloors not only in Ibiza but all over the world with its lovely airy vibe.
»Travel To HDF.Y3D« returns for one last time in form of the spoken word prolog - a nice extra tool to play with. More

DC Salas - Voces
2
DC Salas - The Lights

DC Salas - Metallic Glow
4
DC Salas - Safe Pace
Brussel's beat smith DC SALAS is back on the block - the Robert Johnson block that is! His 3rd release for LIVE AT ROBERT JOHNSON is also his 20th official release so far - so we have two things to celebrate spread over Diego Cortez Salas' powerful four-tracks EP called »Voces«.
Let's start with the title track: »Voces« is a call to alarm right from the beginning with its stabbing synth bass line and sirens. Add a couple of drum breaks and a heavy beat - et voilà: You have the first of four tunes to jump up and down to. Et oui, Salas surely knows how to build tension in a track - even in a voiceless track named »Voces«.
Next up is »The Lights« - and oh boy does Salas turn them on! These are quite trippy lights with a sound that could easily come from a twisted didgeridoo … The beat of »The Lights« is (of course) groovy as f*** - excuse our French. So let's turn on »The Lights«!
B-side opener »Metallic Glow« does just that: The track glows in bright metallic from the first second and features plenty of crazy sounds to do a crazy dance. Did we mention the groove? No? Well … just listen.
For »Safe Pace« Diego pulls out beautiful percussive elements and the 303 thus surfing on a not-so-safe pace to be honest: The last track of »Voces« is as fast and demanding as all the others.
DC Salas again managed to build four really solid stompers here to set any dancefloor on fire - without using any voice or vocal - these are REALLY SERIOUS SOUNDS you all should listen and dance to. NOW. More
Let's start with the title track: »Voces« is a call to alarm right from the beginning with its stabbing synth bass line and sirens.

Mano Le Tough - Free Floating High
Live At Robert Johnson proudly presents the new »Holographic Witness« EP by Niall Mannion aka Mano le Tough!
Please enjoy four very special tracks made by experienced Irishman Mannion near beautiful Lake Zurich. Four tracks to jump into like Zurich folks jump into the Limmat to get carried away. Now here's YOUR chance to get carried away too!
Let's start with the hypnotic grooves of »Holographic Witness« with its subtle handclaps and percussions turning this bass-line driven monster to further heights - a bass-line quite reminiscent of that special Miami sound made famous by the Murk guys back in the early 90ies. Add some balearic guitar riffings and wait until that mighty bass drum comes back in after 6 minutes and you'll find yourself dreaming on a dancefloor in heaven.
Niall continues with more pounding drum sounds in next tune »Kakooja«. Stabbing synths sounds dominate this track while Niall manages to create another dreamy vibe again for this monotonous (in a very positive way that is) work of art - a dreamy vibe which can be found on any of Niall's EP's tracks. This leads us directly to »Last Floating Figh, Liufe Floating« where Mr. Mannion floats into much quieter shores. It's a very meditative affair which makes you want to listen to it over and over again once the tune comes to an end. We think that Señor Villalobos might unleash this one very soon onto some European dancefloor … don't you think?
On »Weather Master«, this EP's last track, Niall masters the art of trippy sounds for a fourth time building another dreamy hypnotic groove that is just beautiful. Maybe too beautiful for this world … we don't know, but what do we know? We're fans. Fans of Mano Le Tough who does not seem so tough at all considering his first offering for Live At Robert Johnson.
Maybe you should consider becoming a fan too - in case you aren't already …
Sláinte, Niall! We raise our glasses respectfully! More

Y2C / Curses / Younger - Mairei
Are you still here? Or are you still there? Berlin-based/Italian warehouse-rave warrior, Younger Than Me, and Italo-American romantic goth-wave prince, Curses are THERE. They're there where it's at!
It was the bond of bold friendship that brought these guys together - and of course a shared history of subgenre juxtaposition and meshing. Both grew up on Punk, Rap, and of course the early days of Techno. »Still There« is their first EP together and thus of course their first for Live At Robert Johnson. It's a venture into the euphoric, psychedelic power of early Trance and Breaks mixed with the attitude and energy of EBM and Electro.
Starting with the moody slow beats of the title tune »Still There«, Y2C takes you on a journey to a faraway chill-out room in some dark yet warm and cozy cellar. Or is this place to be found in synth heaven? It could well be if you listen to those dreamy melodies. Melodies as beguiling as the song of the Sirens that seduced good old Ulysses.
Y2C pick up on that dreamy vibe but throw in that slight and subtle Trance-factor, taking up speed with »Romantic Squat«, dragging you into their very own romantic squat.
Next up is »Love Your Enemy« - oh yes, shouldn't we all? Icey claps with lots of reverb and a bass line draw you onto the dry ice flooded aluminum floor and there's no way back - especially when that strange break with that crazy sound makes you stop for a second and think, why did I stop dancing? Get back on the floor y'all!
The last track »Lullapaluza« is indeed some kind of a lollapalooza ride, a very special ride. And no, it does not lull you to sleep because the beat created by Y2C here is a demanding one, a special which gets you going all over its eight and a half minutes. It's sheer bliss, you gotta believe it.
This is not a one-off novelty EP, it's a kinetic collaboration. Y2C is a force of nature, a force of RAVE/WAVE energy, with many more to come, a force to reckon with. More

Baris K - Noon

Baris K - La Dame Noir
3
Baris K - Valhalla
Please welcome Baris Karademir, Istanbul's edit master, DJ, and musician with Insanlar on Live At Robert Johnson!
If you're a person that likes to get up late, Baris's first track »Noon« is the one for you. It sort of sets the mood for the whole EP with a groove that is deep and hypnotic and above all psychedelic. There's tremolo en masse plus these in and out fading voices that suck you into Mr. K's world - all kept together by this steady forward marching Baris beat. Pleasure, joy, and happiness - all in on groove - and not only effective at noon.
»La Dame Noir«'s most prominent feature is a mean bass line - plus more of those otherworldly sounds that Baris manages to pull out of his magician's hat while creating a superb shuffling riddim for all you dancers to shuffle along to, throwing in that oh so subtle triangle now and then.
With the last track »Valhalla«, Baris enters the mythological place of Asgard, where Valhalla, Odin's hall of the slain can be found in his Glaðsheimr castle. That kinda sounds a bit archaic and dark but don't be afraid: where there is shadow there is also light - light which can be heard in the first opening lines, lines that do sound a bit like played by our favorite shoegazer band "My Bloody Valentine". To get to Valhalla, Baris accelerates the tempo by a couple of beats, yet throws in all trademark ingredients to cook up a tune for peak time dancing in Valhalla … erm … I mean in the club.
So yes, please let us invite you to Baris K's wonderful world of sound - you won't regret it. More

It's dark in the forest. Especially in the »northwest«. You have to adjust all your senses. But once you have, the forest will take you in his arms. The forest will protect you. Just like Daniel Herrmann's first album for Live At Robert Johnson will protect you.
Herrmann is far from being unknown in the world of music - let alone in the art or photography world. In the music field, he is probably much more known under his Flug 8 moniker where he released five albums on Disko B, Doxa Records, Ransom Note, and Acid Pauli's Smaul Recordings. Under his given name, Daniel Herrmann's relationship with LARJ's label boss Ata Macias goes way back. As an artist and photographer Herrmann was the only one allowed to take pictures inside Ata's ROBERT JOHNSON club, thus creating an iconic series of pictures of clubbers and club life in general. Herrmann’s pictures of the partying punters themselves were presented as wallpaper all over Robert Johnson back in 2002.
With »Enroute« Herrmann enters new territory: It is his most ambient work up to today. And yes, it is a piece of work created during the lockdown. Herrmann's studio is situated in the outskirts of Frankfurt, near the forest - a quite remote place already in-between the Taunus mountain range. Imagine life during the lockdown in such a place … This is where Herrmann set up his former basement studio in the large living room with a variety of instruments besides a cozy fireplace spending warm light and warmth. A warmth that despite its seemingly rather "cold" atmosphere can be heard all over »Enroute«. Once you soak in the sounds (or get soaked into the sounds) of the first tracks like album opener »northwest«, »Fly By Wire« or the 11min »Dark Trace« you might feel this warmth too. A cold warmth you could say, yet a warmth that only modular systems and synthesizers can create.
There is a change of mood with »Intercontinental« - literally as it seems that Herrmann indeed is on an intercontinental journey here despite the strolls and long walks in silence through the Taunus forest. This is also the place where Herrmann took many photographs of the forest and its trees (to be seen on his Instagram account) - and the picture on the cover: This spooky yet fragile high seat in the mist in front of those trees. Yet darkness alone is not dominating this album. Even during these dark days, there was a bit of light at the end of the tunnel. And it shows in the beauty of »Bouncing Rays«.
»Enroute« is done all alone and in total isolation. And one can hear it. But it also invites the listener to be a part of this lonely world. And we all know that being lonely is made easier with someone on your side - »Enroute« to a better place. A place that isn't lonely at all.
PS: For all digital music lovers we have included two bonus tracks: The GLOK remix of »Bouncing Rays« and Herrmann's clattering and creaking tune »Economy« - enjoy! More

Perdu - Blue Rush
Amsterdam based DJ and producer Perdu aka Alain van der Born returns to Live At Robert Johnson for his second release: On his Illusion Of Choice EP, Perdu drives his sound one notch harder, yet retains his trademark 1980s tinged vibe. Perdu has already secured releases on DGTL Records, Heist and Let’s Play House amongst others, and surely is a keen producer to keep your eyes and ears on.
A1 Archi gets into gear with a straight and focused beat arrangement. It’s a trippy uptempo vibe, intertwined by a slightly modulated Arpeggio-Bassline and its transposed twin figure.
A2 Grey Rush features a filtered broken beat, quickly rushing inbetween sprinkled effects and noises, off into a resonating Bass figure and outstanding melodic arrangement, both which dominate the better part of this energetic track.
B1 Sitrao doesn’t hesitate long in letting a pounding Kick Drum escort you right into an uptempo Cosmic vibe. It’s that arpeggiated Bass, catchy melody and silky pads, which might just get those hands in the air again.
B2 Blue Rush is a subtle variation of Grey Rush, omitting the resonating Bass figure. Yet it doesn’t compromise its level of energy, as this keeps the beat stand out contoured, compared to its twin track Grey Rush. credits More

Superpitcher - Lush Life Feat. Fantastic Twins
2
Superpitcher - Diario
Live At Robert Johnson is a natural home for Superpitcher, and this two tracker shows his sense of belonging.
Lush Life featuring vocals by Fantastic Twins was inspired by Corsican polyphony, an epiphany after a church concert though as ever with Superpitcher, simplicity is multi-layered: the track itself could be a trip back to the golden (rave) days of deep electronic US house à la François K, dubby yet peacefully driving the ecstasy home. No religious gospel euphoria though, the lyrics are a pagan hymn to Eventide presets. You can’t take the geek out of the schatzi.
Diario stretches its 10 minutes in a misleading laidback groove: Sueno Latino languid clichés are blown away by a smoothly unforgiving acid line. This is a trip, not a journey, a trip dedicated to the young raver in all of us and to a friend too soon departed. As Pasolini said in the poem of the same name: “That’s why I've never abandoned happiness, that’s why in the anxiety of my sins I’ve never been touched by real remorse. Equal, always equal, to the inexpressible at the very source of what I am”
In other words, kids, keep faith out there. More

Johannes Albert - Laurenzi Blues
Summer's gone for sure but why not get back a bit of that summer feeling by having a delicious lemonade fizz? Frank Music label head honcho Johannes Albert comes to the rescue with four splendid recipes.
Lets start right away with »Lemonade Fizz« where Johannes manages to put the ingredients needed for refreshment just in the right balance: Glasses clink while the bass drum pays a slight homage to Manchester's all-time heroes New Order and dancers are driven straight to the floor again by that menacing yet subtle siren.
Listening to »Dorschd« aka thirst feels exactly like the title suggests: You're on the floor, dancing, sweating and desperately yearning for a drink: You want more and you can't stop drinking as soon as you've put that glass to your mouth - yet this yearning feeling stays with you while getting back on the floor.
»Wimbledon« is pure enthusiasm. Johannes dominates the game like no one else. It's fast and cheery building up to a rousing climax: Game, set and match.
After such highs it feels just right to join Johannes for »Laurenzi Blues«, the melancholic wistful closing track of this beautiful 4-track EP - Johannes Albert's first for LARJ - but hopefully not his last.
Now let's have another drink. More

Damiano von Erckert - Wishes
After his contribution to the "Lifesaver Compilation 4 - 21 (Dedicated To Andrew Weatherall)" last year with the pumping "Let's Hide Away", Damiano von Erckert presents his first proper full four tracker on LARJ. Expect dreamy moments with a lot of punch and great vocal snippets as Damiano dominates the bass drum in his masterful way.
A1 "MOONS" sucks you in with light and groovy bongo patterns which build the foundation for an uplifting track that's a bit dark around the sunnier side of things, yet still keeps the positive message: You and I can make it!
A2 "A MONSTER TO LOVE" sounds a bit like a modern take on the "Captain Future Theme", yet much deeper and darker. Atmospheric but built on one hell of a monster groove.
B1 "THESE ARE THE MOMENTS (FOR ZIMNI)" has epic qualities and is full of the uplifting moments we all need - not only Zimni … It does have a certain British sound to it and will definitely rule on a lot of dancefloors with its majestic bass line and whipping hi-hat.
B2 "WISHES" is reminiscent of yet more British sounds from the early 90ies (think Warp and early Nightmares On Wax). The beautiful vocal sample helps build up the tension here before a driving 303 bass line kicks in and takes no prisoners. You better wish for moments like these indeed … and relish them. More

Die Neue Zeit - Wir Sind Die Neue Zeit

Die Neue Zeit - No Title
DIE NEUE ZEIT
Old time? New time!
And of course an exciting time - and thus time for DIE NEUE ZEIT and their eponymous high-speed statement "WIR SIND DIE NEUE ZEIT"!
But who is behind DIE NEUE ZEIT? We simply don't know! And we don't want to know. What we know is that these two daredevils race through their theme tune with sheer intensity - there simply is no stopping them - and you better don't - because when that cow bell gets loose … heaven forbid!
For extra extensive play of "WIR SIND DIE NEUE ZEIT" we strongly advise to make good use of the vocal AND the instrumental version playing both back and forth until all dancers surrender to the rhythms of DIE NEUE ZEIT.
Now tanz' die neue Zeit und geh' in die Knie und klatsch in die Hände, beweg' Deine Hüfte! The new time has come! More

Felice - Infinite Suburbia (Lauer Remi)
Ladies & gentlemen, please welcome FELICE!
Working the fields of italo disco, rave and house, TURNLAND co-chief FELICE delivers the goods with a smashing tune entitled "INFINITE SUBURBIA" which indeed can easily be tagged with the "italo" moniker - a very modern and up to date, state of the art italo take that is. The tune is a stomping tour de force (or more likely a Giro d'Italia …) with razor sharp piano stabs and DJ CITY sweetening the former instrumental track by adding marvelous icy cold yet laid-back vocals - a collaboration which came into being during the 2020 Covid summer. Of course we put the instrumental on the EP as well - for those of you who want to sing yourself …
"LEAVING TRAILS" leaves us with some great trails of dancefloor magic. The atmosphere is slightly darker here, but FELICE keeps up the positive and uplifting spirit by speeding up the tempo a tiny bit and gracing this tune with that shuffling hi-hat for that extra groove.
Last but not least, man of the hour LAUER puts his magic hands on the title track with a couple of acid bleeps and lots of atmospheric and dreamy sounds keeping only tiny vocal snippets that pop up occasionally thus creating real infinite moments of joy - welcome to "INFINITE SUBURBIA"! More

Black Spuma - Data Life
Almost six years after their first collaborative release, Robert Johnson Club’s resident, as well as one of the label’s mainstays, Phillip Lauer teams up again with Slow Motion Records’ label head Fabrizio Mammarella as Black Spuma. On behalf of their fifth release to date, Lauer and Mammarella set their studios controls up for a Hypercall into an Italo sonic past and their futuristic sounds.
From A1 Station to Station, Lauer and Mammarella get into business right away, as the first handful of sequences unfold their crafty Italo House fireworks. Laser beams and stretched sounds meet bass Arpeggios as, after the first breakdown, a piano riff slowly unfilters amidst portamento pads. A steady Tambourine and beat kick off A2 Transpork, in which the main theme consists of a shiny and arpeggiated sawtooth chord progression, layered with a laid-back melody laid on top and and some reverb FX at the end. B1 Miracoli relies on a bouncy bassline along a flat-out Eighties Kick Drum, alternating and squelchy synth figure. Drum rolls fast-forward you into a miraculously driving, yet slightly melodramatic Italo soundset with guitar-riff- and mangled vocal samples. At the end of this EP, B2 Data Life enters sonic space on a magic synth carpet ride, propelled by a booming 808 Bass Drum, Rim Shots and Bells, with Black Spuma encoding their Data into a modulated metallic-sounding Arpeggio.
