Title track, “For Her”, is a beast of unrivalled warmth working a deep and steady groove to perfection. On the flip, “I Know” is a soulful disco-infused workout while “Rush” takes aim squarely at the late night raver with its enveloping pads and low-slung bass line.

Tokyo-based composer Phil Gerus gives Man Make Music a summer record par excellence, warping classic r'n'b and disco into five highly original and up-to-the minute tracks. The latest signing to the ManMakeMusic roster, from Moscow via Tokyo, is Phil Gerus. A classically trained pianist, Phil grew up heavily influenced by jazz music before progressing into electronic performance. Gerus is an avid listener of jazz legends such as Keith Jarrett, Bill Evans, Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea & Brad Mehldau, as well as funk & boogie records of the 80s & 90s. Inevitably, these sounds translate directly and smoothly to his own production: sensual 80?s vibes with tunes that are brimming with rhythm and funk. Gerus' use of synthesizers, looping, and heavily filtered vocals on the E.P are distinctive and he's marking his own sound in what is becoming a very hazy genre of music. The Opposites Left Together EP will be released on limited edition 10" vinyl

Man Make Music's second release is a collaboration between two talented Londoners, Jack Dixon and Rick Grant. Having already made waves with individual releases on labels such as Brownswood, Hypercolour and TAKE, these two good friends now offer up a pair of brilliantly off-kilter house tracks. 'Running Man' is a heady mix of skipping percussion and caressing Juno synth-lines, whilst, on the flip, 'Muted' takes a more understated, melancholic turn, counterbalancing the ecstatic nature of the A-side. Jack and Rick's contributions are also offset by Kevin McPhee's weird and wonderful slow-mo interpretation of 'Running Man'. The remix blends vocals drenched in reverb with creeping piano riffs and shows yet another musical side of a man garnering plaudits from all corners for his unique style.

ManMakeMusic first made their name running a series of eponymous parties in London's East End which showcased the best of lowend heavy electronic music. Given that the collective contained within their ranks a number of budding producers, the step over to label territory was always on the cards. George FitzGerald, who heads up the label, was behind the crew's first mysterious release earlier this year, a refix of Groove Theory's 'Tell Me' that sold-out within a matter of days. ManMakeMusic are now back for more, beginning the label series in earnest with some original material from George that sums up what these guys have been about from the beginning: real-deal dance music that tracks the borderlines of house, garage and techno.
George's releases on Hotflush and Aus this year have consolidated his reputation as one of a small set of producers from London whose tracks translate in to dancefloor capital outside of British borders. This record travels deeper in to the territory of housedubstep cross-pollination than George's previous excursions. A-side 'Fernweh' is an intricate work of ecstatic synths tempered with a rock solid groove that betrays George's UK sensibilities. On the flip, 'Hearts' ramps up the energy levels with tough percussion and the trademark FitzGerald vocal wizardry.
