With previous releases on influential labels Hotflush, Aus and Hypercolour, George FitzGerald has joined a new home, signing to Domino offshoot Double Six. Kicking off his inauguration is new single 'I Can Tell (By The Way You Move)', a house cut which set the 7,000+ strong crowd at Ushuaia in Ibiza moving last week as he went back to back with Radio 1's Pete Tong, a relationship that kicked off earlier this year with George's Radio 1 Essential Mix. 'I Can Tell (By The Way You Move)' is available digitally through BeatPort now. The video for 'I Can Tell (By The Way You Move)' follows a group of hedonistic teenagers roaming the streets of George's adopted hometown, Berlin, to the backdrop of George's infectious rhythms threaded throughout the track. Directed by Alex Southam, the man behind videos for Alt-J, Laura Mvula and Liane La Havas, you can watch the video HERE. A remix package featuring mixes from Breach, responsible for the aptly titled summer club smash 'Jack', and a remix from Paul Woolford, will be available from the 30th of Sept. George continues to play throughout the summer and has started work on his debut album due for release in 2014 through Double Six, where he joins such luminaries as Jon Hopkins and John Cale as part of the extended Domino family. Hotflush Recordings presents the follow-up single to George FitzGerald’s summer debut “The Let Down” & “Weakness”. Due for release in mid-January 2011 on Hotflush Two, this much-touted single is seeing the light of day after its inclusion in Scuba’s groundbreaking SUB:STANCE mix compilation on Ostgut Ton earlier this year. Here we see the budding London-based producer reaching into the brighter side of dubstep and garage styles, achieving a mood that is both blissful and emotive. Tokyo-based composer Phil Gerus gives Man Make Music a summer record par excellence, warping classic r'n'b and disco into five highly original and up-to-the minute tracks. The latest signing to the ManMakeMusic roster, from Moscow via Tokyo, is Phil Gerus. A classically trained pianist, Phil grew up heavily influenced by jazz music before progressing into electronic performance. Gerus is an avid listener of jazz legends such as Keith Jarrett, Bill Evans, Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea & Brad Mehldau, as well as funk & boogie records of the 80s & 90s. Inevitably, these sounds translate directly and smoothly to his own production: sensual 80?s vibes with tunes that are brimming with rhythm and funk. Gerus' use of synthesizers, looping, and heavily filtered vocals on the E.P are distinctive and he's marking his own sound in what is becoming a very hazy genre of music. Man Make Music's second release is a collaboration between two talented Londoners, Jack Dixon and Rick Grant. Having already made waves with individual releases on labels such as Brownswood, Hypercolour and TAKE, these two good friends now offer up a pair of brilliantly off-kilter house tracks. 'Running Man' is a heady mix of skipping percussion and caressing Juno synth-lines, whilst, on the flip, 'Muted' takes a more understated, melancholic turn, counterbalancing the ecstatic nature of the A-side. Jack and Rick's contributions are also offset by Kevin McPhee's weird and wonderful slow-mo interpretation of 'Running Man'. The remix blends vocals drenched in reverb with creeping piano riffs and shows yet another musical side of a man garnering plaudits from all corners for his unique style.
