On the flip Marc creates another rich musical tapestry and he allows his off kilter drums and scattered sounds and fx a life of their own before pulling them together with metronomic mastery. Its been six months since we enjoyed the freshest sounds from Dissonant boss Marc Antona. The release of his "Darwin" ep for Truesoul and our heavily supported "In Flagranti" ep, bookended April of this year and saw Marc preparing for his summer residency in Ibiza. The party island played the perfect host to the Frenchman as electrified the floor of Marco Carola's hugely successful Music On parties. Three months on the spiritual white isle was always set to influence and inspire and it was these experiences and special moments that Marc sought to share through his new productions. Our first taster of these summer sessions is the double-header of "Sorry For The Violence" and "Thats The Way To Do It." We are treated to trademark Antona grooves powered by organic percussion and crisp drum work that gives both tracks an uncluttered spacial feel. You can sense the summer breeze flowing through each. As the winter chill draws closer our new Dissonant release allows us to hold tight, those final rays of sunshine.

Having been wowed by tINI's Dissonant debut, label chief Marc Antona returns with his first new work since the November release of his fantastic long-player, "Rules Of Madness." A brand new double-header from the Frenchman is lead by "In Flagrante." Joining forces with Aber Costa, the pair present yet another joyful example of Marc's innate ability to harness the most exotic of grooves whilst showering us with a dizzying array of sounds and samples. It's Nordic conversation is wrapped in beautiful organic percussion, as handclaps and rubbery basslines ripple throughout before ghostly chains ring out the closing beats. "Ipso Facto" on the flip is a pure example of stripped back house. Beats, hats and an elasticated filtered riff open the show before the snare rolls usher in from the depths a throbbing wave of bass.

Marc releases now the fourth and final vinyl extract, 'Rules Of Madness - Part 4', a perfect place for two uncommon creative tracks that reveal the very wide range Dissonant can bring to your ears!

"Last Taboo" beholds the A-side and portrays the delicate, coy and ambient side of 'Rules Of Madness', yet keeps the rhythm shaking. This is the track of well-accepted contrasts: an incredibly melodic ethereal piano flitting between tranquillity and minor-key chaos on one side; a strong growing rhythm, almost recalling tropical forest tribal dances on the other side! "Last Taboo" is the finest example of how emotions can change from one minute to the next, supported by its tender piano turned into a hypnotic house gimmick at the end. As we arrive at the half-way point, a rounded bass line storms through to take full control, forcing us to surrender to its undeniable funk.

On the flip, a charming and witty character stars in the "The Hammock Spider Story": his spellbinding tale of drug-taking spiders brings warmth and humour to this release. Set over a captivating rolling rhythm and a strong melodic line, the hammock spider weaves and builds in a percussive and freaky manner. However, he is not the only character in this tale; his musical counterpart spins a web of movement with bounding bass lines and hissing closed hats perpetuating the groove. Aside from this, there is also beauty within "The Hammock Spider Story", with a bed of subtle strings and sexy bells mirroring the hats. An inspiringly unique take on electronic music.

Producing and releasing his explorative and unique electronic music on labels such as Mobilee, Highgrade, Freak N'Chic or Micro-Fibres for years, it was in 2010 that Marc Antona felt the time was right to embark on the entirely independent project Dissonant. Over the year that followed, not only did Marc put out three highly praised EPs on his label, he also built and nurtured its concept to what is now the home of his first full length album .Rules Of Madness.' Exposing the hidden grooves within the beats and kicks, “Rules Of Madness” features ten tracks of organic music full of hidden melodies and underlying emotional ambience whilst keeping the pumping vibe experienced in his dj-live sessions. Thru his first album on Dissonant, Marc shows his own creative vision of what he wants to be sexy underground music. “Rules Of Madness” opens with “Guru,” the album's sense of shy mystery and intrigue revealed with muffled demeanour and secretive rhythm. Just afterwards, “All Against The Law” introduces the next main thread: analogue field recordings that celebrate the fascinating and often unheard soundtrack of everyday life. These recordings, coupled with the poetic sampled vocals on “Illegal” and the humorous and charming “Hammock Spider Story,” serve to create a beautiful and honest thread to Marc's tracks. Marc Antona's Iberian influence is laid bare throughout: the ten tracks coming from his studio on the white island of which he fondly says has "so much contrast between the peaceful nature and the amazing clubbing scene, with so much energy that ideas are plentiful when it's time to make music .” Weaved with exactly that contrast, tracks like "Prohibition Circus" and "Crush To Pulp” play with raw organic hand claps, groovy feelings and the sprinkling bells of ambience. What makes them so compelling though is the atmosphere that they ricochet within; crunching machinery combine with bounding bass and beats to fuel the dance floor. Throughout his journey and discoveries as a musician, Marc's passion for "creating musical trips, taking people into his world and making them enjoy the changes of moods from happiness to melancholy, from energy-pumping moments to relaxing deep waves" has developed and is now clearly on point with an album that fully delivers. Marc Antona's .Rules Of Madness' album on his own lovingly crafted Dissonant label is in full force, it's works now trickling through in vinyl packages. For the second installment of .Rules Of Madness', leading track “All Against The Law” and his full-acoustic brother “Spring Pack” open the three vinyl release sequence that will bring the entire album to the decks. Like a tremendous and thrilling novel, “All Against The Law” starts the journey by setting the sexy and intriguing atmosphere. From the very beginning until the bitter end the hypnotic and metallic triangle tickles, its gently dissonant and mysterious sound taking the role of the second but essential character. Taking time to grow, the first half of the track lets tension subtlety build, no help of hulking effects needed or used. The core trip then begins; its story triggering with the psychedelic honk of a passing train that builds the exhilarating and huge melody repetition of the track. Voices then emerge, the organic sounds begging insistently as the sloping tension becomes steeper and the obsessing and nonchalant rhythm reachies new levels. Freaky with its subversive voice yet harmonic with its ever-changing pad, the track evolves sharply and switches constantly between melancholia and joy. It may only be three releases old, but Marc Antona's Dissonant imprint is fast becoming renowned for the quality of its releases. With all of them originating from the creative mind and fingers of Marc himself, this is of little surprise... As 003, "Not The Fool" still dominates the dancefloors, helped in no small way by its impressive Reboot remix, Marc readies himself to unleash 004 and this time its an Antona full house. With his new album "Rules Of Madness" due for release in September, Marc delivers a choice taster with the first of three vinyl Ep's. With the following two slated for release in August and September and with a 'live' mixed version of the album due to be available on CD, we are set for a fully-charged Antona summer, all kicking off today with 'Rules Of Madness - Part.1'. Contrary to its name, lead cut "Prohibition Circus" sees Marc in a far from confiscatory mood. Indeed, quite the opposite. We are being treated to a hell of a show. From the opening earth moving kick drum we're once again locked in a groove, as our Ring Master teases by dropping the rumbling bass, increasing the tension studiously and then feeding our craving with a wave of the flute, as the bass drops with gusto.
The bass continues to rule on "Fast Track." Whilst its name inspires haste, the slower tempo brilliantly serves to accentuate the raw power of Marc's bassline, underpinning the rolling onslaught of the drums. Never peaking, "Fast Track" effortlessly and ironically chugs throughout. From the diesel power of the previous cut to the delicate deepness of final track, "Home Rebels." The trademark bass throb is still present, yet its the xylophone melody
and sparkling percussive elements that draw us in, allowing us to lose ourselves within the track. Yet another world class performance from Marc and with it still only being release number 004 for Dissonant, we can only be excited at the thought of whats to come from both!

After years spent as a firm fixture in the Dissonant family, it seems only right that Italian duo Re-UP should present their debut album on the label that they call home. Across eleven tracks of immersive, psychoactive house and techno, Leo and Omar showcase what a diverse and engaging team they are both for the dancefloor and as a personal listening experience. "Concrethereal" opens the mix in an esoteric style with a complex arrangement of percussion and melodic chimes that soar away into meditative realms, before "Aju Paraplu" strides forth with urgency and subliminal sound design, letting haunting fragments of processing drift in between the beats while the title track "Nelcorpo" captivates with its mysterious pads swirling around angular fragments of rhythm. "Dark Tunnel" brings on a tougher beat with a haunting soul to catch the dancers unaware, before "Gominola" comes to life in a romantic swell of orchestration, rich in energy without losing that all-important subtlety. "6 AM" equally has a rich sound world to get lost in, using a bed of forest textures as a comfortable backdrop in contrast to the piercing impact of the lead synth. "The Mole" locks the listener in with a vivid picture of crooked, rusted textures conjured up using layers of rough and metallic found-sounds. "Two In A Row" meanwhile takes its time in building up the tension, working with a locomotive urgency and yet maintaining a voluptuous appeal to the rhythm section of the track. Heading into the later stages of the mix, "Each Sense" holds tightly on to the groove, celebrating multi-sensory stimulation with its intricate and seriously funky percussion. "Tribute" delves into dub-infused techno of the most captivating kind, and "Extended" sets out to explore microscopic production detail as it builds to a spiritual climax. With its ever-shifting moods and infectious energy, Nelcorpo is a stunning achievement for Re-UP, and a proud moment for Dissonant. Leo and Omar prove with their creation just how much space for creativity and experimentation the album format holds, and it leaves us with a stunning body of work to return to and lose ourselves in again and again.

Ahead of the full release of Nelcorpo, Dissonant is thrilled to be sharing the first taste of Re- UP’s debut album with this three-track single. The whole project is a continuation of a relationship that reaches back to 2010, when the celebrated Italian duo made up of Leo and Omar first collaborated with Marc Antona on The Owl EP. For this sample record, three powerful tracks have been selected that reveal what an exciting, highly detailed listening experience the full album will be. There is of course a club-friendly thrust to all the cuts, as you would expect from this pair of producers, but there are lots of other moods at work which reveal themselves through the course of the tracks. Following his widely celebrated Macro Habitat EP of last year, Santos returns to Dissonant to deliver another three tracks, laying down detailed rhythms that shimmer with the infectious energy in which the man has made his twenty-year career on. "Garlic" is a roving thrill-ride that hangs on to the commanding groove as it whips through a dense landscape of sound, constantly moving forward with an energy that speaks to primal instincts. That leaves it to "Invisible" to get deep in the dub, letting masterfully handled delay and reverb pulse out a spiritually enriching techno mantra.
"Cable" takes a different approach, weaving some colour into the mix. The rolling beat flirts with playful swathes of synthesizer and samples for a wonderfully trippy end result that delights the mind, just as it moves the body.

After his captivating last EP "Brush Rush", he proves once again what a diverse producer he can be. "Ride Safari" shows Marc Antona at the height of his powers, layering up intricate percussion from electronic sounds to organic hits, but there is more happening beyond the drums in this track. The immersive bass draws the listener close in the beginning and the thrilling rolls of effects send the track into wild new realms of sound, but the action continues to build all the way through the peak of the tune, with ever more exotic sounds feeding into the groove.

Having earnt his stripes as a DJ across countless clubs in New Jersey and New York, as well as further afield in Florida, his explorations into production have fed into this first full artist release, fitting perfectly into the ongoing narrative of Dissonant. The title track "Outside The Box", featuring Zay De Mello, is the perfect club track, full of hypnotic percussion that pushes forwards with an unstoppable energy, while the well-selected vocal samples add an extra layer to the impeccably mixed dancefloor journey. "Doctor Who" takes a more subtle approach, using minimal rhythms and space to create an unpredictable feeling. As the track comes to life in a cycle of crisp drums, the natural and mechanical beats interlock seamlessly and channel the spirit of another mysterious speech into the funky, tribal workout. Placing groove and atmosphere above all else, AMO has made an excellent addition to Dissonant with a sound that was destined to be on the label.
