Nexus - - Still Life Keeps Moving (MK Remix)
The idea behind the KMS "Origins" series is to shine a light on the lesser known cuts in the KMS vaults as well as the classics that have given the label it's legendary status during it's lifetime. Hot on the heels of the previous collections for the label, the 'Origins' series presents another stellar selection of jams from the legendary Detroit label's archives. Opening the EP is K.A. Posse aka Kaay Alexi, a legendary producer whose 'Tell Alexi' features here, a raw, low slung acid burner with sultry vocals and tough as nail drum programming from 1989. Killer stuff indeed. Following that we have the Jovonn Blade mix of Terrence Parker's The Lost Articles jam 'Touch Me Baby' from 1993 - some classic Detroit early proto-beatdown sounds, rough and ready and still doing damage today. On the flip is the stone cold banger 'Flash' by FIX aka Orlando Voorn, this demented P-Funk ripper never quits and is a monster! Classic material. Finishing things off is the MK mix of Nexus 21's 'Still Life Keeps Moving On', it doesn't get any bigger than this, pure heat. Pretty much an all-star line up on vol. 4, a perfect release for the novice and expert alike! File under classic, all tracks encapsulate the Detroit sound while retaining that raw energy and vibe that this music is famous for! Heat!

A staple album since its release in 1998, ‘Heavenly’ is as relevant today as it was twenty years ago. It turned heads everywhere, got the underground scene buzzing and set dance floors ablaze like an accomplished pyromaniac. Now, the album is back for another round of Techno-flavored goodness. Revisited, tweaked and rearranged by Kevin Saunderson under his E-Dancer moniker, the album not only comes with additional material in addition to the 1998 originals, but is also poised to fuel a number of exclusive E-Dancer live shows. A collection of songs sure to keep the dance floor ablaze for decades, ‘Heavenly’ (Revisited) is set to make history once more.

24-7-365 - - Sample That (Tropical House Mix)
3
C&M Connection - - Bio Rhythms
4
R Tyme - - Illusion
Across 4 tracks here on EP #3 we have some heavy hitters for sure - Terrence Parker's stellar 'Come with me', a deeply solid soulful cut of the highest order, flipping a well known vocal sample in the process and teaming it up with some soaring strings and pads. TP is already a legend and his style is unique, tracks like 'Come with me' will always have that timeless quality. 24-7-365 was a monicker used by a young Mr. Derrick Carter (alongside George Andros) the 'Tropical House' mix of 'Sample That!' first dropped in 1989(!) and is a rough and ready robotic jam featuring all manner of samples for the eagle eared to get stuck into, proper early house sounds right here, the way it should be done - with the FUNK intact! Side B sees a stone cold classic kicking things off - C&M Connection's 'Bio-Rhythms' leads us in, these artists would be known a little later under the guises of Altern-8 and Nexus 21 leading the UK rave charge. 'Bio-Rhythms' is Detroit leaning techno-soul of the highest order, smooth, melodic and introspective - a late night / early morning winner. The mighty R-Tyme round out the EP, one of the maestro Derrick May's pseudonyms from back in the day, here May bends genres (alongside Detroit luminary D. Wynn) and pushes a futuristic sound that is uncategorizable, sounding like little else from the time (1989!) 'Illusions' is classy, other-worldly and techno in it's purest, most crystalized form - Utterly essential! 4 absolute jams from the KMS catalogue, for the hardcore or the newly initiated - Now is the time - Acquaint yourself! Selected, remastered and repressed with the full cooperation of KMS records, Detroit MI.

e-dancer - Into The Future - Dantiez Remix
Detroit techno pioneer Kevin Saunderson has revived his underground house moniker E-Dancer with “Into the Future,” a rolling futuristic nod to the sound of Detroit Techno. Swirling retro-future synths, echoed out claps and solid bass line that just screams Detroit. The track’s gritty yet groovy sentiment is a perfect continuation of the very first E-Dancer album Heavenly, released in 1998.

Reese - - Funky Funk Funk
Kevin Saunderson's KMS imprint is a label that should require no introduction. The motor city label has been a Techno mainstay since it's inception in 1987. Numerous Detroit luminaries have released classic after classic on the labels hallowed grooves over the last 25+ years and it's influence is still felt in contemporary dance music today. The idea behind the KMS "Origins" series is to shine a light on the lesser known cuts in the KMS vaults as well as the classics that have given the label it's legendary status during it's lifetime. Hot on the heels of the debut collection for the labels 'Origins' series we are pleased to present another stellar selection of jams from the legendary Detroit label's archives. Kicking off EP #2 is the man himself, Anthony 'Shake' Shakir here utilising his Schematics alias to deliver to us the storming almost hardcore-esque 'Shock therapy' from 1992. This cut is rough, raw and is intent on troubling your bass-bins with some low frequency and breakbeats sounding like it's coming straight from the D via Essex! Heavyweight. Following Shake we have Dwayne Jensen with a slamming cut from 2000, lifted from a white label only release this is true school Detroit techno, perfect for dark basements, taking no prisoners! Exclusive to this EP. On the b-side we hand over to the label boss and legend in his own right - Reese! 2 classic jams back to back on 1 side. Both 'Bassline' and 'Funky funk funk' have been road-tested for years and bear the classic hallmarks of this legendary producer. You cannot go wrong with this era Reese material, classic stuff, encapsulating the Detroit sound while retaining that raw energy and vibe that this music is famous for! Heat! 100% legit, compiled with the assistance of Kevin 'Reese' Saunderson and the whole KMS family, Detroit, MI.

kevin saudnerson pres. e-dance - Foundation (Nihil Young Remix)
Kevin Saunderson, a driving force behind Detroit’s rich musical heritage and lauded innovator of techno, returns to his own KMS Records to deliver another unstoppable club weapon under his E-Dancer moniker - One Nation. One Nation begins its 6 minute journey with signature Saunderson percussion and a pounding 4/4 flow that oozes peak-time energy. An eerie and funk tinged synth fills the space with an intoxicating refrain to keep feet stomping, which later trades centre-stage for a heavy and evolving bass line as the track continues on its path of ebbs and flows. This heater aptly demonstrates why Kevin Saunderson it still one of the hottest names in dance music. As suited for sweaty basements as it is festival main stages, One Nation will surely feature in the bags of techno heavyweights for months to come.

Kicking off EP 001 are Intercity, a collaborative effort between Saunderson, Derrick May and James "Suburban Knight" Pennington. "Groovin without doubt" is the track featured and is typical of the stripped back machine funk that would emanate from Detroit in the coming decades, originally released in 1987 the track still sounds killer on today's dancefloors! Following is the legendary Stacey Pullen aka Cosmic Messenger with his deep, melodic "Soundscape (Intricate mix)", released in 1993 on KMS offshoot label Eclipse the track pushes a supremely futuristic edge that showcases Pullen's prowess as a producer who is often unfairly underrated. Still sounding like it's from another planet "Soundscape" continues to excite and remain contemporary. Side B begins with some classic KMS breakbeat / Rave stylings from Master Reese himself, "You're Mine" is a sample heavy cut n paste monster from 1990, the "original mix" is featured here and still sounds like it weighs a ton, drop this one on a big system and watch the crowd lose it. Often imitated, never bettered! Rounding out the EP we have E-Dancer's "Pump the move", a stripped back, almost tribalish jam from 1991. This is some direct, heads down, dark dancefloor material, driving drums and synth stabs are woven through loose drum programming to create a "runaway train" feeling. Definitely one for the peak time dancefloors! "Origins" 001 will appeal to those who are new to KMS and will serve as the perfect entry point, it will also appeal to the diehard fans who dig that hardcore Detroit sound!

KMS will reissue a two-part collection of KMS Remixes this spring. Kevin Saunderson's Detroit-based imprint celebrated its 25th Anniversary back in 2012, and the label's continued to cement its legacy with key vinyl reissues over the past couple of years. The recent campaign included Saunderson's Just Want Another Chance, the track which contains the "Reese" bassline—rivaled only by the Amen break as a formative element of drum & bass—as well as '90s releases from MK, Kreem (Saunderson's duo with Juan Atkins) and Chez (Damier) N (Ron) Trent. The two remix compilations dwell on Chez N Trent versions produced during the 1993 through 1995 period, when they released enduring originals like "Morning Factory" and "The Choice." Volume One contains remixes of Sonya Blade and Miller/Scott Project while the second EP includes Damier and Trent's versions of Kreem as well as Saunderson's seminal vocal house group, Inner City. Chez N Trent's takes on Naomi Daniel's "Feel The Fire" and Essar'ay's "Forces" are also included.
