L+P-2 is Rivet's second album following his acclaimed debut, On Feather and Wire, released on Editions Mego in 2020. The wheels were already in motion for a subsequent album on the same label, but tragedy struck. Peter "Pita" Rehberg, the legendary owner of Editions Mego, suddenly passed away at only 53 years old, leaving the experimental electronic music community in a state of pitch-black grief. Rivet was among the many deeply affected by this loss. The inspiration and support from Rehberg had propelled Rivet to create at a level he himself was uncertain he had mastered. For Rivet, Rehberg's death felt like the death of music.

However, that brooding sentiment was abruptly shattered when Rivet's beloved dog and companion, Lilo, was diagnosed with incurable cancer just a couple of months later. They were inseparable, and now they would be separated nonetheless. The only way Rivet could cope with this double blow was to compose—for Lilo, for Pita, for his own sanity. L+P-2 is the result.

While the album naturally emerges from a place of despair, it's remarkably comforting. Partly, this stems from Rivet's singular ability to make machines not only sound human but also act human—sincere and warm, yet flawed. In more than one track on L+P-2, you'll encounter a distinctive melody and a gnarly bassline dancing hand in hand with Rivet's eccentric and captivating drum patterns. Then, seemingly on a whim, the melody takes off on its own, leaving the faithful bassline behind—much like a dear friend that suddenly vanishes from your life without warning. Yet life goes on, and so does the music. But never unchanged. Never.

L+P-2 is an album of lamentation, yet also of resolve—a dedication to those who go through life losing more than their share because they always carry too much. More

At this pace, can you really tell? So. Just like Magritte's pipe wasn't a pipe, this is not a record. This is an invitation. An embracement. We want you to share this with us. To be a part of this release. To be apart of our SELF. This music spoke to you in some way, and now we want you to speak to us. The language is up to you - do whatever you feel like! Some of you will paint, some of you will print, some of you will do things we couldn't even think of. All of you will be a part of the movement. A movement against the one-sidedness of the producer-consumer relation ship. A movement against the hurried Zeitgeist. A movement against the grain. We are the Swedish Electronic Liberation Front. The complexity of sound and composition of his latest EP, Driftwood continues here. Sometimes we hear Rivet complain that his production and release rate is to slow. When listening to his resent music you definitely understand why. Rivets music contains all the classic elements, but decomposed, manipulated and built together again in his own updated, very distinguished way.

For the keen ear and reflective soul, the basis of the much-liked Skudge sound is present here in a updated, perhaps more refined record. While working hard to pursue a specific set of labels, sound and aesthetic, SKUDGE 011 presents us a welcomed look into the retrospect of their unique sound.

After 2014's set of acclaimed releases on L.I.E.S, Creme Organization and Rush Hour, Jorge Velez comes to Skudge White to drop a proper dose of relentless subterranean Techno. 4 tracks created with the adventurous dancefloor in mind. This is the sound of Velez at full command. "Les Méandres" leads the heavy charge as factory rhythms carry a sinister, echoed call-and-response synth pattern. Next "Blue Bottle", the heart of the 12" according to Velez, brings volcanic, hissing synths to an intense peak over hammering rhythms. "Tunnel" is the sound of "the most intense moment on the floor when it's just a blur of all sounds and lights and the pound of the drums" says Velez. Furious and abandoned yet with the floor firmly in view.
