Axel Boman broke through in 2010 with his Holy Love EP, released on DJ Koze's Pampa Records. The track Purple Drank became an instant classic in underground house music circles – since then, Boman has toured extensively while releasing original productions and remixes on labels like DFA,
Hypercolour, Kompakt, Permanent Vacation and Ovum, as well as on Studio Barnhus, the label he runs together with Kornél Kovács and Petter Nordkvist. Family Vacation, Boman's debut album, arrives on Studio Barnhus in November 2013. “I decided to go through the vast collection of ideas and sketches I had on my computer, as a final project before I set that machine on fire and let it all go up in flames. Kind of like what Lee "Scratch" Perry did with The Black Ark in Kingston in the 70's. A friend says the album sounds like “weird Jamaican space disco" so maybe it's a fitting reference”, says Boman himself. Axel Boman's music has also been described as "raw and playful house music drenched in oceans of soul". Pampa's favourite Barnhus boy returns to the label fold, and his previous episode is no easy act to follow: 2010 was the year, Holy Love was the name, and "Purple Drank" the undeniable track of the year; it captured the dancefloor zeitgeist with its sultry tempo, and created an classic with its instantly recognizable vocal. While he last left us falling down the rabbit hole, Axel Boman's newest concern is upward, forward, accelerated motion. "1979" cool-toned and pensive take on classic downtempo deep house. It holds on to the necessary bare banes of percussion, but surrounds it with light touches and a soothing pastoral feel. Time is taken and moments have room to breathe, in this meditative exploration of gently shifting moods. "Nokturn (Grand Finale)" is carnivalesque in the grandest sense, with endless movement via its dominant percussion pattern. Its looping background is perpetually primed for take off, building in intensity as the Latin rhythms preoccupy the shoulders and hips. A double bass phrase minimalist bass loop takes care of the low end groove, and together with glimpses of vintage disco sounds, creates another surefire hit.

For the fourth release on DJ Koze and Marcus Fink's Pampa imprint, hyperactive hotshot house hunk Axel Boman steps up and delivers a stunning debut EP for the label. Since many years an important force on the small but friendly Swedish club scene, and one third of the Studio Barnhus crew together with Kornél Kovács and Petter, Axel is as experienced a producer as his ideas are fresh. This tattooed Swede often talks about creating "worlds" rather than "tracks", and on his "Holy Love" EP we are transported to three very different places indeed. The title track, a collaboration with vocalist J Jonason, invites you to take part in a lazy afternoon cocktail party onboard an old sailing boat in Gothenburg's archipelago. Ten City are mixing up the White Russians and Giorgio Moroder's estranged Swedish grandson is peeling the shrimp. You fall asleep on the patio and wake up in a sweaty basement later that night. Through the shabby speakers of one of those small but friendly Stockholm night clubs, you hear "Purple Drank", a sleazy, sexy number that draws influences from Houston style screw music, classic deep house and hypnotic techno. The irresistible vocal hook - "I woke up with your name on my lips" has already echoed across dance floors from Tokyo to Amsterdam. Bouncy yet unsettling, this track is probably the most obvious DJ's favorite on the EP. Morning comes yet again, and for the after party we head to Axel's private rooftop terrace in sunny Gröndal. The laptop speakers are banging out the most loved up piano loop you ever heard. "Not So Much" is as simple and naïve as Axel Boman's haircut, a perfect ending to a perfect night and a perfect little record from this imperfect genius of a dance music producer.

Nearly a decade after the release of his breakthrough debut album “Family Vacation”, Axel Boman returns with astonishing force: Two albums, titled “LUZ” and “Quest for fire”, will drop
simultaneously on April 15th 2022. Containing nine songs each and featuring guests like Off The Meds frontman Kamohelo, Baba Stiltz, Bella Boo, Man Tear, Miljon and saxophonist Kristian
Harborg, the two albums are separate but corresponding works, communicating through music, design and words. Together with long time collaborators Robin Ekemark (design) and Erik
Lavesson (words and art direction), Axel has spearheaded a project with plenty of layers available to those that dig deep.
Erik writes:
” For Axel’s two albums, we wanted to build on the music to create a kind of expanded universe. If you just want to listen to the music, it’s all there and you don’t have to look any further. If you want
to go deeper, you have these extra layers to delve into: album art, text, archive material. They feed back into the music and open up new perspectives, while the music opens up ways
to enter the other material as well.”
Erik’s text “Brandenburger Ulam” will accompany the album project's physical release, with both records arriving together in a limited triple vinyl package, allowing for the full experience of Robin’s
design. In the digital domain, the albums will be featured separately on all streaming platforms, with Dolby Atmos mastering for those seeking to go beyond the usual listening experience.

Axel Boman’s Eyes Of My Mind is part world-unifying house music psychedelia anthem, part collaborative Gesamtkunstwerk. As so often the case with Boman’s home label Studio Barnhus, the process leading up to the release happened naturally, among friends.
Axel’s initial sketch (made during sessions at Future Classic Studios in LA) was sent to his good friend, long-time Studio Barnhus associate Malin Gabriella Nordin, who found herself obsessed with the track’s twirling drums, softly flowing melodics, big booya bass and mind-expanding message.
The Stockholm-based visual artist put the track on loop, started drawing and painting to sound and wouldn’t quit until 455 individual works lay before her. These images were then animated to create the video version of Eyes Of My Mind – they will also be exhibited at Stockholm gallery Steinsland Berliner in the year of our lord 2020, with kind support from The Swedish Arts Grants Committee. A print magazine featuring 44 of the drawings is also available in limited edition. The magazine and the vinyl single’s artwork were designed by Robin Ekemark, another regular contributor to the visual world of Studio Barnhus.
The video version of Eyes Of My Mind will be available through Studio Barnhus’ YouTube channel from March 27, with a full digital single release on studiobarnhus.bandcamp.com and on Spotify happening the same day. A full colour artwork vinyl 12'' will be available from April 10, with the opening date for the exhibition at Steinsland Berliner still TBA. More

Nearly a decade after the release of his breakthrough debut album “Family Vacation”, Axel Boman returns with astonishing force: Two albums, titled “LUZ” and “Quest for fire”, will drop
simultaneously on April 15th 2022. Containing nine songs each and featuring guests like Off The Meds frontman Kamohelo, Baba Stiltz, Bella Boo, Man Tear, Miljon and saxophonist Kristian
Harborg, the two albums are separate but corresponding works, communicating through music, design and words. Together with long time collaborators Robin Ekemark (design) and Erik
Lavesson (words and art direction), Axel has spearheaded a project with plenty of layers available to those that dig deep.
Erik writes:
” For Axel’s two albums, we wanted to build on the music to create a kind of expanded universe. If you just want to listen to the music, it’s all there and you don’t have to look any further. If you want
to go deeper, you have these extra layers to delve into: album art, text, archive material. They feed back into the music and open up new perspectives, while the music opens up ways
to enter the other material as well.”
Erik’s text “Brandenburger Ulam” will accompany the album project's physical release, with both records arriving together in a limited triple vinyl package, allowing for the full experience of Robin’s
design. In the digital domain, the albums will be featured separately on all streaming platforms, with Dolby Atmos mastering for those seeking to go beyond the usual listening experience.

Your Planet Is Next is the nom de guerre of one Arvid Wretman –
multidisciplinary artist, live performer and noise maker from Stockholm, Sweden.
Since his 2014 debut cassette under the YPIN alias, through two floor-optimised
solo EPs for Studio Barnhus, this self-proclaimed “Mr. Music” has terrorised us
with the most gloriously disturbed electronic funk, all while cultivating his puzzling
YPIN persona: part failed pop-star, part extraterrestrial threat. On his first fulllength release for Studio Barnhus, emotions range from acidic romance to pure
paranoia. Rave, screw, electro, and chill vibes are all combined on an album that
plays like an exhilarating journey through the mind of a mad genius.

Själen is a Stockholm-based duo consisting of Johan Jan Jonason and Mats Andberg.
Spirit High is their debut album, arriving after the band’s previous Studio Barnhus
appearances with 2020's heartfelt ballad “Älska mig” as well as a single release of this
album’s title track in summer 2021.
On Spirit High, multi-instrumentalist Andberg together with album co-producer Axel
Boman weave a shimmering lo-fi tapestry that frontman Jonason vigorously tears apart
using simple iconic phrases delivered with a unique singing voice – naïvely desperate,
delicately forceful. No posing, just transparency! No nuances, just the pure expression of
Själen! Out December 10 on Studio Barnhus. More
