A1Bleep Back
A2 Serge Up
B Bleep Forward featuring Evan Baggs
Mike Shannon has revived Cynosure Recordings after a two-year hibernation, and its revenge has come with a focus on Mike's solo productions and Collaborations. Reset, Bleep puts the label's catalogue back at 000 and begins to count backwards to where its roots began.
The A1 - Bleep Back is a deep bass monster with some definite in your face, morphing wave table trickery. And if Shannon's latest sets are anything to go by, it is a tried tested and true weapon on the dance floor, one that you'll find yourself coming back to in your mind. Following is "Serge Up", a super dry and crunchy minimal house number produced with the famous Serge Modular system, a rare synth used by producers like Richie Hawtin and Jean Michel Jarre. In the hands of Shannon, this machine has produced some of the weirdest and wildest sound to come out of his studio to date. Finally we have "Bleep Forward", an alternate mix of the A1 track. This time Shannon enlists the help of NYC/Berlin badass Evan Baggs. This version leans more towards a futurist sound with an underlying modular bubble and a synth progression that chugs tirelessly forward. Backed with an Aux88 style 808 groove and Ghetto Detroit style bass line, this track is poised to be a regular from Berlin to Brooklyn.

UPC 827170576865 Rel date 1.12.2014
Tracklist:
A. Over And Over (Time To Celebrate Mix) B1. Just A Glimpse B2. Pleasure Play
Information:
Half Baked Records proudly presents the sixth instalment of their sought after Vinyl Only series. After having being featured on the second release of the label, the Canadian modular man of mystery, aka Mike Shannon, drops another swinging monster to his already extensive list of wax slabs. This EP celebrates Half Baked's 5th birthday and the A side, "Over and Over (Time To Celebrate Mix") is the perfect embodiment of that, a cybernetic-gospel-funk monster that will drag even your grandmother to the middle of the dancefloor, shaking her ass till she faints. On the flip side we find "Just A Glimpse", featuring Mike's
signature elements, crisp drums, a spooky yet playful bass and teasing electric piano jazzy phrases. The B2, "Pleasure Law", is the deeper and more romantic cut of the record, adding some mellow chords in the equation that eventually get picked up by Detroitish wave of filtered epicness, finally unfolding into an uplifting piano solo outro. HB006 will take no prisoners. More

A. Slip It
B. Slip It - Melchior Productions Ltd Remix (ft edit)
Info:
After its first installment, Half Baked Records is back with a stellar Ep where two milestones of the underground electronic music scene collide: Mike Shannon and
Thomas Melchior. The original cut, crafted by Mr. Shannon, label head of Cynosure and Haunt, carries his typical sound signature; crisp swingy drums, hypnotic stabs and a
haunting modulated bassline. However, this time, we venture into deep house territories rather than techno, with a jazzy delayed chord progression that will no
doubt cause ruckus on the dancefloor. On the flipside, Thomas Melchior, under his “Melchior Productions Ltd.” moniker, delivers his interpretation stripping it down to the essential. A 12 minutes minimal trippy monster that effortlessly locks you in the groove. Needless say more with these two, let the music speak.

A Gravitron
B Valosel 4000
Mike Shannon throws another volley of no way back and only forward techno. Gravitron is the monster A side named after a cheap amusement park ride that spins it's passengers inside a wheel faster and faster until it's passengers are all floating off the ground. Playing this track at 100 db should also give the listener the same effect. Valosel 4000 is a phase shifted bass monster. With a chest hitting kick this track takes hold of a spacious, wave table bass line that connects the listener with a sound influenced from early 90's UK techno/hardcore but weaves it's reference into a complex maze of compression and dynamics only found in the music of the future.

Mike Shannon, - Zukunftsstrasse
Mike Shannon steps up to the Cityfox LTD plate and squeezes the jack juice on his latest offering for Cityfox LTD entitled Foxology. It's a 3 track (5 digital) session of deep jazzy basslines and smooth cuts. We start things off with 'Foxology feat. Flowing', a twistedly deep smoothy of a house cut with Shannon's signature shuffle groove and warped dynamic basses featuring some wicked Blues harp action from Amsterdam's Flowing. Foxology's B-side is home to 'Foxwell' and 'Zukunftstrasse', the former being a rather hot number bubbling with bouncing bass, whereas 'Zukunftstrasse' is even more laid back and down tempo, while still playing your mind with it's sonic insight to the distant future. Digitally, you have the pleasure of Foxology feat. Flowing (Dubmix), taking things deeper than before. Digital buyers will also receive the 'Spritz Mix' with it's emphasis on percussion and mood, this sounds like a whole new track. Leaving the Jazz at home in favor of a bubbling Detroit style deep jack mix.

It’s been 10 years since Mike Shannon started making a name for himself on the international techno scene as a DJ, producer and label owner. Now, having recently relocated to Berlin he’s crowning his
first decade of active service with The Memory Tree, his third LP in all and the first for another notable Canadian export – Plus 8 Records. Anyone who knows his previous two albums will already be aware
that Shannon’s music covers a broader spectrum than just minimal techno. In fact 2005’s “Possible Conclusions To Stories That Never End” was awash with downbeat electronica, highlighting a natural
instinct for fusing rhythm and melody whatever the style or tempo. Although “Memory Tree” follows a more club oriented trajectory it retains much of the emotional response generated on “Possible
Conclusions” and is all the better for it. As a result Shannon has put together a collection of tunes that are simultaneously dark and soulful, stays true to his roots while embracing the future and never fails to deliver a flurry of kick-ass, funk inflected beats.

4
Mike Shannon, - The Love Fry
It’s a long time since Mike Shannon first presented Richie Hawtin with his first dub plate at a Jack party in Detroit
way back in ‘96 and although since then he’s gone on to establish himself as one of Canada’s foremost techno
producers, there seems to be a strong sense of destiny surrounding this new collection of tunes being released on
Plus 8. Either way, Memory Seed is the first EP to be taken from Shannon’s forthcoming Memory Tree LP,
containing three varied cuts that perfectly capture the style and direction of this remarkable album.
With its long, beatless intro Mercury Mile makes its presence felt amid a wash of static interference and squirming
synth riffs, while the molten bass and raw, angular snare lend the groove a cool Detroit-electro flavour. Mix friendly
and deeply atmospheric, it’s a handy dance floor tool for breaking things down and spacing things out with its
snaking rhythm section and cavernous wash of background effects. Shannon’s natural instinct for combining
rhythm and melody will have beads of perspiration breaking out in anticipation before he finally allows the sultry
beats to kick in.
The X Flex mix of Dr X is a more beat intensive version of the album cut and another flawless example of
Shannon’s highly addictive synthetic funk, this time with a raucous, jacking main riff replacing the classic filtered
down chord stabs and soft melodic interludes of the original. Shannon downplays the groove during the opening
stages allowing the deep, chugging bassline to make full use of the space between the beats. By gradually
dropping snares and hi hats in tandem with secondary melodies, Dr X goes through several stages of subtle
elevation before the main riff opens up and the rhythm section solidifies into a rough and ready techno shuffle with
just enough distortion to stop the beats from boiling dry.
Love Fry is one of the pivotal, stand out moments on the album occupying the middle ground between the
contrasting musical aspects of Shannon’s work. On the one hand - the dark, engrossing synth lines full of ecstasy
and menace, on the other - the soulful, jazz inflected elements that add colour, light and a tinge of nostalgia to his
work. And right at the heart of Love Fry they collide like two shifting tectonic plates throwing out a jagged
mountainous terrain that suddenly levels off into a lush, expansive plateau. It’s a masterstroke made all the more
impressive by the chameleon like bassline that morphs through all manner of twists and turns before the resonating
wind chime fx add a tactile, new dimension to the mix-out. If that’s not enough, there’s also an exclusive raw mix
available for download that peals away the rhodes sequence focusing instead on the dark, funk of the track’s
underbelly. More

active for more than ten years and one of the luminaries of the canadian electronic music scene MIKE SHANNON just settled to Barcelona but left this nasty three tracker as a parting gift for his Wagon Repair buddies. possibly Mike found quite a large cockroach population "under the carpet" as he was packing his stuff cause the jumpy percussive beats, rubber bassline and staccato sounds that make up the itchy a-side track sound like those nice cohabitants had quite some busy party going on. the b-side holds two more stunners that are bound to cause some ruckus - not only underneath the rugs but also on floors of all kinds - with "global pleasureism" boasting an addictive pizzicato synth-string melody and stepping beats plus cluttering electronic funk of "valence".

A1 Capitaloid B1 Just Wanna B2 Under Your Tongue
Dewalta & Shannon have teamed up and delivered some mind-bending releases in the past on Cynosure, Haunt and Meander. But after listening to the "Runaway Sugarcube EP" you'll agree that the two have most definitely come up with their most twisted combination of techno to date. The shuffled funk of Capitaloid starts things off and takes you straight into the deep depths of the warped afterhour soundtrack. So many details swirl about including subtle vocals mumbling in the background about finance, with morphing wave table digital funk and analogue bass power driving the groove. Jus Wanna follows suite and takes things up a notch with a harsh over compressed groove and a mean ass grinding bass line. Lastly, Under Your Tongue has the down beat acid touch. Waves of liquid morphing bass build up to a monster industrial percussion line. A tip of the hat to the sound of Plastikman and Speedy J on this one.

Tracklist A1 My Doin' B1 Legal In Uruguay B2 Dragones y Otro Cosas
Uruguayan Guillermo Miranda is no stranger to Cynosure Recordings having released a number of EPs in the past as part of the defunct super duo Monoblock. Following a path to the dancefloor similar to his past collab releases with Martin Teysera Guillermo steps it up and delivers a bomb combination of Chunky house groove and futurist techno sound design with the DRAGONES Y OTRO COSAS EP. Guille doesn't waste time and bangs the box with style on "My Doin". Some very punchy drums served up with a tasty synth hook, makes a mean Techno House meal. The title track "Legal In Uruguay" is a slick, shuffled, bong influenced, techno burner. Some additional production from Mike Shannon shines in a few familiar areas while Guille comes with a massively catchy hook that drops at about 3 minutes in. Hands up! Hands up! The Deep and Headstrong B side called "Dragones y otro cosas" has a slinky groove that leads to a mind puzzle of a breakdown. Mind melting with some Modular synth madness for almost a minute and then dropping the listener back into some ultra deep territory. Magic.

With a chest hitting kick this track takes hold of a spacious, wave table bass line that connects the listener with a sound influenced from early 90's UK techno/hardcore but weaves it's reference into a complex maze of compression and dynamics only found in the music of the future.

dj koze - Knee On Belly
2024 repress
Tracklist A. XTC - B. Knee On Belly
Shortinfo: DJ Koze's 2013 album opus Amygdala has continued to bewitch all who encounter it since its release. Tipped as his own personal Sgt. Pepper, the sublime long-player revealed a fully-realised and personal body of work, complete with a classic songwriting at its core, House in its heart, and veins coursing with psychedelic color. "La Duquesa" was the album's dreamy single standout, a journey into deep, tropical ecstasy.
"XTC" begins in the same spirit, and captures the all the blissful allusions of its name, but its initial gentility belies the deep intensity to come. Floating pads glow with celestial ambience as a kick drum is gradually coaxed into solid form, and the introduction of spoken text begins the second act. "Many people are experimenting with the drug Ecstasy," it says, "…is the drug like the lie and meditation the truth? Or am I missing something that could really help me?". "XTC" then transforms: sweetly imploring tones become demanding, gentle gradients between chords turn hard-edged, and sharp hi-hats cut through the haze. Complete with Koze's signature percussive quirks, it drives towards the track's final pay off: an undeniable, all-consuming, irresistible high.
"Knee On Belly" recalls Koze at his most tongue-in-cheek and overt; it is bright, bold and literally brassy, using cut-up horns of all shapes and sizes to patchwork together his own unique arrangement. With the highs and mid ranges accounted for, Koze adds in a swollen, thrumming bass line to mix to bring this floor-filler to life. "Knee on Belly" recalls a raw, filtered and funky approach to groove, with a nod to disco house and the art of artful sampling, as it orbits between its own neon highs and simmering lows.

Bill Converse & Patricia - Fixer
Tracklist:
A1. Dilute Developer
A2. Subtractive Color
B1. Stop Bath
B2. Fixer
Beat machine freak duo Bill Converse and Patricia (Max Ravitz) present 380/750, a new EP on Acid Test that blends the two producers’ singular styles to form an emotive “introspection on the dance floor” experience over the course of 4 tracks.
Recorded at Ravitz’s Brooklyn studio over the course of two days, 380/750 features raw, no-multitrack, no-edit live recordings that showcase the duo’s intuition for expressive rhythm tracks. Considering Converse’s roots in the 90’s Michigan rave scene, and Ravitz’s Chicago upbringing, the midwestern strains really shine through. With rhythm-composer mutations, acid dripping over atmospheric synth textures, and the ever-present jack throughout, 380/750 offers a deep sound to get lost in that feels both new and classic at the same time.

Hiroshi Watanabe, a musician, photographer, and DJ from the Japanese electronic scene, based in Saitama near Tokyo, has been a prolific figure for twenty-five years. He has explored most major genres of electronic music through more than twenty albums. He proudly becomes the very first Japanese artist of InFiné.
After Ryuichi Sakamoto, he is one of the very few Japanese artists who have gained the favor of Western audiences, alongside notable names such as Cornelius, Towa Tei, DJ Krush, Ken Ishii, Susumu Yokota, and more recently Hiroshi Yoshimura. In Europe, he is best known for his project Kaito, which began in 2001 under the prestigious Kompakt label. The name Kaito, in addition to being the name of his son born the same year, carries a double meaning in Japanese, signifying both "universe" and "secret." These references hint at a spirituality visible in his photographic work and contribute to the elements that make Japanese artists masters of the ambient genre.
The collaboration between Kaito and the InFiné label began with his participation in the compilation "Music Activists 2020 (From Home)," which supported artists affected by the Covid crisis, followed by a remix for the single "Motion" by Rone and Vanessa Wagner in 2023. These initial contributions led to a new album featuring nine tracks of ambient music.
Kaito's new album ‘Collection’ comprises nine ambient and melodic tracks composed during the Covid-19 pandemic. These compositions present a majestic minimal and harmonious therapy in response to the world’s adversities, showcasing the producer’s return to the peak of his art. ‘Collection’ was remastered by another genre legend, the German Rashad Becker, and released on vinyl and CD by InFiné in 2024.

Île Flottante is Mr. Beatnick´s 5th album, following 2023’s Joy In Variation (including the notorious cover of Love on a Real Train) and his well-received off-beat collaboration with London-based avant-garde agitator Richard Greenan – Coasty – this is his first contribution to the International Feel trademark. Probably best known for some big deep house revivalist tunes circa 2013 on the now dormant Don’t Be Afraid record label, Beatnick now converts that aural quality and dimensionality into the Balearic system.
Île Flottante takes its name from the tastiest French pudding of Mr. Beatnick’s childhood holidays. The name, also a jeux de mots - floating island - hinting at the album’s inspirations and sense of identity, as a danceable soundtrack to a fictional island. Explored with high intensity and over a yearlong process, the sounds of the well-worn, but never failing Balearic universes were a mind expanding influence. Think of genre staples like Software, Manuel Goettsching, Mark Barrott, Len Leise, Don Carlos, Gaussian Curve, Joan Bibiloni or Yasuaki Shimuzu.
„I spent a year listening to a lot of synthesized island music, and marveling at the many twinkling wonders of the Balearic musical universe. Struck by a sense of belonging that had often eluded me on my musical journey thus far, as the weirdo at the back of the club who had orbited many scenes for 20 years, but never felt like I fitted in, I found music that made me feel like I had come home. The songs that came out of this process are presented in the order that they were written - an open book of ocean hymns, honest and spoken from the heart.“
Île Flottante tries its very hardest to avoid being any one thing in particular. At one point, it is a gentle beach walk accompanied by polyrhythmic drum plod and flourishes of Guzheng. At another, the infamous James Yancey septuplet swing is repurposed against a marimba melody that wouldn’t be out of place in one of Link’s forest adventures.
Elsewhere, there are the bellows of distant whales, touches of Italian dream house and a splash of vintage madchester, all working to create a space that feels both familiar and loaded with well worn tropes, but with its own quirky sense of personality, facets which are often attributed to Mr. Beatnick’s holistic b-boy approach. This is his understanding of a Balearic (b-boy) stance. Just with a float instead of a freeze.

Tracklist

A2. Love Seeking – Club Mix
B1. Love Seeking – Âme Remix
The brothers Fognini aka Mind Against return to Life And Death with their new single Love Seeking with a remix from friends and fellow masters of the emotional dancefloor Âme.
It’s fitting that techno storytellers Mind Against should revisit the home of their first EP with a revamped sound and turbo-charged take on current-day disco. Their history with DJ Tennis and Life and Death is almost as old as the label itself, harking back to their days living together in Berlin.
Now the brothers leave behind their signature hypnotic techno palette for a boogie-fied stepper that’s equal parts pop breeze and deep synth trip, full of hopeful anticipation. For the remix, Innervisions duo and cultural tour-de-force Âme twist the knobs and stretch out the heartstrings for an extended slice of big room goosebumps.
In the words of Mind Against themselves:
“10 years after releasing our very first EP Atlant on Life and Death, we’re excited to come back to our first imprint with such a special track and remix by Âme.
We’ve stepped out of our usual comfort zone and done something that can be both linked to our own musical world and to the sounds that Life and Death have evolved in recent years.
Our friendship with DJ Tennis is about as old as the label is, bringing us back to the times we used to share a flat in Kreuzberg. One may say this release is both an ode to the past and to a bright future, full of promises.”
