With its “Various” compilation series, Plan B Recordings helped introduce some of today’s underground heroes to the dance music community, including Amir Alexander, G. Marcell, and Marshallito. The label is back with a compilation featuring some brand new names to the label, including our first release by a Japanese artist (Takenawa) and an emerging producer from the Chicago area (Mauser). Things start off with the twisted funk of Area’s “It’s Just a Body.” The head honcho of Kimochi has been building his reputation with releases for Wave Music, Until My Heart Stops, and Mindshift. Area was also featured on Plan B Recordings’ CD compilation “Episode One” with a different remix of this same track. Following Area is the first Japanese artist to grace one of our vinyl projects. Takenawa’s “Jaisalmale” is a lush techno groover that works in deep house sets as well. The flipside features our new pick up from the Chicago area, Mauser. His uptempo creations feature tight drum programming, tinkling keys, and insistent energy. “Small Sounds on the Redline” is his first vinyl release for Plan B Recordings. Closing out the B side and the compilation is G. Marcell. Coming off the success of the “Sound Extravagence” EP, his latest solo project for Hakim Murphy’s Machining Dreams label, G is a sample lover’s dream producer. Pulling funky breaks from dusty crates, he puts them together into the soulful yet raw “Naphroblac.” This one builds as it goes, closing out with some insistent kicks and bassline. That’s a wrap on this hot 12” featuring some of the scene’s most underground producers! Don’t miss this limited compilation from Plan B Recordings.
