From his first submission, we knew his sound was perfect for Plan B Recordings. “Sonic Subversion” was released as a digital EP in 2010 and now receives a proper vinyl release. We feel these tracks sound even better now. Their content is as timeless as ever. They have been slightly tweaked and re-touched by Amir for this release, making them perhaps even more sonically powerful than the originals. DJ Spider, DJ Qu and Joey Anderson collaborator Dakini9 is back on New York's Plan B Recordings with a hot solo EP, and the girl means business. Four tracks of raw, gritty house music from the street: "Find Myself" features Danny Watts on the vocals and a wavey, dubbed-out collection of sounds; "Wali" is similarly contorted and grey-scaled albeit for the lonesome piano keys travelling across the arrangement. Over on the B-side there's the head-nodder that is "Potentiation", a punchy and direct dub-house chugger, and the stumbling groove of "Strawman", the oddest and most daring of the four cuts. More

Plan B Recordings continues its Underground Sounds compilation series. The A side represents label bosses DJ Spider and Dakini9. DJ Spider is his usual twisted self on “Hive Mind” and Dakini9’s house- techno hybrid “Lost” reveals a few layers of meaning for the careful listener. The B side welcomes Berlin’s Franklin De Costa with a deep moody burner named “Retreat” and Fifth Wall Records co-boss Divvorce turns in a stomper with “E./B.” to close out the compilation.

With its “Various” compilation series, Plan B Recordings helped introduce some of today’s underground heroes to the dance music community, including Amir Alexander, G. Marcell, and Marshallito. The label is back with a compilation featuring some brand new names to the label, including our first release by a Japanese artist (Takenawa) and an emerging producer from the Chicago area (Mauser). Things start off with the twisted funk of Area’s “It’s Just a Body.” The head honcho of Kimochi has been building his reputation with releases for Wave Music, Until My Heart Stops, and Mindshift. Area was also featured on Plan B Recordings’ CD compilation “Episode One” with a different remix of this same track. Following Area is the first Japanese artist to grace one of our vinyl projects. Takenawa’s “Jaisalmale” is a lush techno groover that works in deep house sets as well. The flipside features our new pick up from the Chicago area, Mauser. His uptempo creations feature tight drum programming, tinkling keys, and insistent energy. “Small Sounds on the Redline” is his first vinyl release for Plan B Recordings. Closing out the B side and the compilation is G. Marcell. Coming off the success of the “Sound Extravagence” EP, his latest solo project for Hakim Murphy’s Machining Dreams label, G is a sample lover’s dream producer. Pulling funky breaks from dusty crates, he puts them together into the soulful yet raw “Naphroblac.” This one builds as it goes, closing out with some insistent kicks and bassline.
