The first BleeD release of 2017 welcomes another new artist to the fold. A seriously respected NYC based studio aficionado and close contemporary/collaborator of the BleeD-released DJ Spider, Phil Moffa is also known for working alongside Anthony Parasole and Seth Troxler as well as releasing solo EPs on The Corner, Most Excellent Unlimited and Plan B Recordings. The 'Mass Action' EP features three original peak-time techno tracks, 'Psychohistory', 'Dodecahedron' and 'Decimation', with a remix of the latter by label boss Volte-Face, all primed for peak-time club play. "After almost 20 years of making tracks with blaringly loud kicks, you tend to start producing with the other elements first to give yourself a break from the constant pounding of monitors at point blank range. Following an analog filter shopping spree, I began working on a group of tracks where the low end was satisfied by the filtering, and realized these songs worked just fine without a bass drum. Therefore this record is called “Rareforms” since most of my other work consists of a kick drum and lots of loud effects. This record is dedicated to the brilliant synthesist and interpreter Isao Tomita, whose records always provide inspiration in the lab. Also to master storyteller Rod Serling and his frequent collaborator Bernard Hermann, whose score for the Hitchcock film Vertigo I adapted through some MIDI processes and wavetable synthesis, then sent it through a 4-foot spring reverb." - Phil Moffa

DJ Spider, DJ Qu and Joey Anderson collaborator Dakini9 is back on New York's Plan B Recordings with a hot solo EP, and the girl means business. Four tracks of raw, gritty house music from the street: "Find Myself" features Danny Watts on the vocals and a wavey, dubbed-out collection of sounds; "Wali" is similarly contorted and grey-scaled albeit for the lonesome piano keys travelling across the arrangement. Over on the B-side there's the head-nodder that is "Potentiation", a punchy and direct dub-house chugger, and the stumbling groove of "Strawman", the oddest and most daring of the four cuts. More

With its “Various” compilation series, Plan B Recordings helped introduce some of today’s underground heroes to the dance music community, including Amir Alexander, G. Marcell, and Marshallito. The label is back with a compilation featuring some brand new names to the label, including our first release by a Japanese artist (Takenawa) and an emerging producer from the Chicago area (Mauser). Things start off with the twisted funk of Area’s “It’s Just a Body.” The head honcho of Kimochi has been building his reputation with releases for Wave Music, Until My Heart Stops, and Mindshift. Area was also featured on Plan B Recordings’ CD compilation “Episode One” with a different remix of this same track. Following Area is the first Japanese artist to grace one of our vinyl projects. Takenawa’s “Jaisalmale” is a lush techno groover that works in deep house sets as well. The flipside features our new pick up from the Chicago area, Mauser. His uptempo creations feature tight drum programming, tinkling keys, and insistent energy. “Small Sounds on the Redline” is his first vinyl release for Plan B Recordings. Closing out the B side and the compilation is G. Marcell. Coming off the success of the “Sound Extravagence” EP, his latest solo project for Hakim Murphy’s Machining Dreams label, G is a sample lover’s dream producer. Pulling funky breaks from dusty crates, he puts them together into the soulful yet raw “Naphroblac.” This one builds as it goes, closing out with some insistent kicks and bassline.
