In the grand tradition of letting the world be one´s oyster, Alejandro Paz throws himself into turmoil just to come up with a an agitating bunch of tracks dealing with inside jobs, pickpocket techniques, fucked up gear and the old, cold and dark consuming wishes we all know very well. On top of that an affecting ode to his beloved cosmopolitan neigbourhood ofÊMadrid´sÊLavapiés barrio completes the boisterous bouquet of his new EP. Sure, with Alejandro PazÊthere´s always the oblivious glory of a crude, hypnotic, bass-heavy and self-sufficient beat. There´s chasing scene-music, insane energy, an appetite for headlessness. But it won´t do without sardonic shouts of joy, bone-dry rants or maniacal declarations. It´s been only a few months that, having left his home in Santiago, Alejandro Paz declared himself to be the "new guy in town", spreading around splendidly ambivalent agit-prop-beauty about being "free" (Cómeme 16). Sung in an irritantly dégagé manner, "Free" couldn´t help but become a hit because it was deep but distant as well – not fraternizing at all. Of course Alejandro is well-accustomed with the art of making machines going nuts and honoring the honorable archives of mad jackness ("The Bubble", "El Rave",Ê"Inside Job"Ê). Thanks to those who've supported Auntie Flo and the first two sell out releases. Next up, we'd like to introduce you to the next release from our Chilean amigo, and provider of the finest modern Latin jack grooves, Alejandro Paz. We first came across Alejandro's mighty Callejero via a mix from his Cómeme chum, Diegors. Callejero's infectious hook stuck in our heads for days on end and after getting in touch, the talented Mr Paz happened to be sitting on a wealth of fresh sounding material which owes as much to House music from the streets of Chicago and South Africa's townships as it does his Latin roots. Callejero opens with a devastating drum work out before giving way to the aforementioned catchy hook: It hasn't been billed as this years Township Funk for nothing. ?As the title suggests, the equally as contagious Cumbia A Lo Lejos is a lesson in Latin rhythms set to warm your cockles. Since 15 years he’s a resident at Düsseldorf’s legendary “Salon des Amateurs” and has released on other wonderful labels such as Versatile,Safe Trip Records, Dekmantel Records and Fasaan Recordings – and under his other alias “Wolf Müller” on Themes for Great Cities, Growing Bin Records and International Feel. Due to living in a small flat with too many neighbors, childhood Jan could not pursue his dream of playing the drums, so he started to work with drum breaks on a program on Windows 95. Since around 25 years he’s now collecting drum samples, however you won’t hear any of these on this record. During the pandemic, Bufiman had to change his approach. Unable to work, due to the ban of all dance events he found a job opportunity as a night shift caregiver in a small town near Düsseldorf. This meant that he had to sit in a bus for at least three hours a day. To kill time somehow, he took out his Nintendo Switch portable game console and stumbled across Korg Gadget: a modern music program that he never particularly liked.The many hours on the back seats of the bus changed his relationship with the app as it was his only way of shortening the hours of commuting. The “Switch Beats” EP is the result of this particular time in his life, and once again we see that marvelous things can happen, when your ways of creating are challenged in an unprecedented manner. “A Cómeme classic that was ahead of its time finds a new life in fresh mixes by Matias Aguayo and Ricardo Villalobos” In a surprising turn of events Cómeme reissues Matias Aguayo’s “El Camarón” from his album “The Visitor” (2013) in a new 12” extended club mix including a remix of none other than Ricardo Villalobos. The latter suggested to give this forgotten latin new beat gem a new life! He had recently rediscovered it, and added to his sets - including his own 12 minute fabulous remix, which is driven by a mesmerizing groove and pumpin sub bass frequencies. Aguayo then decided to also rework “El Camarón” with an extended soundsystem - friendly mix, that will move the feet of dance music lovers from all kind of biospheres! The lyrics tell the story of an old river shrimp that accidentally joins a boat party. The ball starts in the guaraní jungle to later continue along the ivory coast, featuring super colour range towels, buzzing mosquitos, monkeys, parrots, piranhas, mermaids, and more. After more than a year of strengthening our bodies through workout, our poetic endeavors via the discovery of our inner worlds, and also the life of plants and mushrooms, insects, arachnids, birds and wild mammals, after a year and a half that saw us in lockdown, shattered around the planet, after one a and a half year in which we deepened our production skills and also the meaningfulness of our work, Cómeme returns to a new planet with new music. In this deep therapeutical exploration of rhythm and sound, these artists established a magical dialogue on distance, leading up to this EP called “Que si el mundo”, roughly translated: “What if the world”. Since the beginning of Co´meme, until today we feel a connection to the electronic beats from South Africa. Co´meme tracks like "Pata pata", "Osea... Hello?", "El Sucu Tucu" and many more prove this, and one main inspiration, is DJ Spoko, partner of DJ Mujava, for whom he wrote and produced the legendary "Township Funk".
But also in Joburg, and without our knowledge, Co´meme tunes were dropped at some of the coolest parties in town, so Matias Aguayo aka The Don jumped of joy when he was invited to play there, where he met Spoko and started to jam with him in a studio in the center of Joburg!
