Running Back and Hivern Discs artist Katerina debuts on Rekids with a dreamy house EP titled ‘One’, which features a remix from Aleksi Perälä.

The title track of Katerina’s ‘One’ EP on Rekids starts off with bodied bass drums, rich analogue synthlines and soothing vocal-laced melodies. The Finnish-Bulgarian artist appears on Rekids following her 2023 Panorama Bar debut for the label, now adding Radio Slave’s imprint to her extensive discography on labels like Running Back, Hivern Discs, and Rhythm Section.

Fellow Finnish artist & international scene legend Aleksi Perälä then joins Katerina’s ‘One’ EP for the remix. Known for his imaginative sound design work on Clone, Trip, Rephlex and his own AP Musik label, Perälä turns ‘One’ into an equally whimsical, continually evolving dance trip. Dream-like keys trickle over rolling drums in his version before Katerina’s ‘Papu’ introduces the B-side, featuring a set of wonky chords played over an earworm bassline. ‘Look Into My Eyes’ is up last with gorgeous dubbed-out sonics, deep low-end and more after-hour melodies, closing out this irresistible addition to the Rekids family.

Since 15 years he’s a resident at Düsseldorf’s legendary “Salon des Amateurs” and has released on other wonderful labels such as Versatile,Safe Trip Records, Dekmantel Records and Fasaan Recordings – and under his other alias “Wolf Müller” on Themes for Great Cities, Growing Bin Records and International Feel. Due to living in a small flat with too many neighbors, childhood Jan could not pursue his dream of playing the drums, so he started to work with drum breaks on a program on Windows 95. Since around 25 years he’s now collecting drum samples, however you won’t hear any of these on this record. During the pandemic, Bufiman had to change his approach. Unable to work, due to the ban of all dance events he found a job opportunity as a night shift caregiver in a small town near Düsseldorf. This meant that he had to sit in a bus for at least three hours a day. To kill time somehow, he took out his Nintendo Switch portable game console and stumbled across Korg Gadget: a modern music program that he never particularly liked.The many hours on the back seats of the bus changed his relationship with the app as it was his only way of shortening the hours of commuting. The “Switch Beats” EP is the result of this particular time in his life, and once again we see that marvelous things can happen, when your ways of creating are challenged in an unprecedented manner. “A Cómeme classic that was ahead of its time finds a new life in fresh mixes by Matias Aguayo and Ricardo Villalobos” In a surprising turn of events Cómeme reissues Matias Aguayo’s “El Camarón” from his album “The Visitor” (2013) in a new 12” extended club mix including a remix of none other than Ricardo Villalobos. The latter suggested to give this forgotten latin new beat gem a new life! He had recently rediscovered it, and added to his sets - including his own 12 minute fabulous remix, which is driven by a mesmerizing groove and pumpin sub bass frequencies. Aguayo then decided to also rework “El Camarón” with an extended soundsystem - friendly mix, that will move the feet of dance music lovers from all kind of biospheres! The lyrics tell the story of an old river shrimp that accidentally joins a boat party. The ball starts in the guaraní jungle to later continue along the ivory coast, featuring super colour range towels, buzzing mosquitos, monkeys, parrots, piranhas, mermaids, and more. After more than a year of strengthening our bodies through workout, our poetic endeavors via the discovery of our inner worlds, and also the life of plants and mushrooms, insects, arachnids, birds and wild mammals, after a year and a half that saw us in lockdown, shattered around the planet, after one a and a half year in which we deepened our production skills and also the meaningfulness of our work, Cómeme returns to a new planet with new music. The beginning is this unique collaboration between Medellín based musician and DJ Julianna, and Matias Aguayo aka “The Don” himself. In this deep therapeutical exploration of rhythm and sound, these artists established a magical dialogue on distance, leading up to this EP called “Que si el mundo”, roughly translated: “What if the world”. Since the beginning of Co´meme, until today we feel a connection to the electronic beats from South Africa. Co´meme tracks like "Pata pata", "Osea... Hello?", "El Sucu Tucu" and many more prove this, and one main inspiration, is DJ Spoko, partner of DJ Mujava, for whom he wrote and produced the legendary "Township Funk".
But also in Joburg, and without our knowledge, Co´meme tunes were dropped at some of the coolest parties in town, so Matias Aguayo aka The Don jumped of joy when he was invited to play there, where he met Spoko and started to jam with him in a studio in the center of Joburg!
