sano - La Grúa
Is it heavy industrial machinery or the loud noise of a tropical jungle? Do we hear a swarm of exotic insects over our heads or the sound of permanent construction overshadowed by sky-scraping cranes? This is “Los Muchachos”, the latest release of Sano, from Medellin, Colombia. A strangely swinging 12” with 2 heavy stomping downtempo tracks for those who know and those who want to learn - plus a mesmerizing “interview – remix|” produced by Toulouse, “Salon des Amateurs” resident and member of Kreidler. “Los Muchachos” is a house music short story – both tropical and industrial – about adolescence in Medellin, about kids selling their CD-Rs at undocumented raves, about drawing flyers and stealing

Tracklist 12" EP:
A) El Tecnopop
B1) El Juancho
B2) No Quiero Nada Contigo
Short info:
On Latino Body Music Vol II Sano continues to explore his musical heritage connecting the dots between tradition and news. For this record he picks up the "Champeta" style that had its origin in the streets of Colombia. The mix of repetitive rhythm patterns and chants performed by local legends like Hernando Hernandez is an integral part of the huge soundsytem culture that takes place in the streets of Cartagena. By adding small hints to contemporary western club culture like a classic house piano, or an acid baseline Sano reinterprets the tracks for our dancefloors without loosing any of the original hypnotic flavour. The early Champeta dances were called "therapy" and seen as distraction from everyday problems.

Downstairs please, heaven can wait. Our destination is an urban Hades, an alluring underworld. When you´re mono-named (like Sano) your epithet sounds like a code word anyway. So let´s get in. At first we´re inside a studio in Medellin: "Convulsed jams at night, empty bottles, smoke and red lights flashing on the mixing desk. Next day, beer with orange juice and hours of plastic surgery on the screen. A black river, a dog from outer space and a sonic laboratory as witnesses." Speaking of names, you have to know that what is here called "black river" is actually a distinguished circle of friends, all engaged in shaping the gloriously contorted darkness of this stirring 10-track epic. There are: Lord Byron (the Alchemist, former Lord Byron Maiden), Glad Secret Kazuka, Little Chucharita, Cornelio (the spirit himself) and - you already know this man - Diegors. Not to forget Wilson, the dog from outer space, capable of the most moving bark ever heard in a techno track ("Boquerón"). Who can resist such splendid company? We know Sano is a devoted underworld utopian having realized his nightworld fantasies with clandestine parties at Medellin´s ghostclub Perro Negro, a place reminiscent of Medellin's golden age demimonde. That´s why there has always been another company to Sano, albeit a fiction: Strangers, hustlers, tricksters doing their mischievous business while luring curious youngsters. Figures such as Juanito Alimaña, the "king of crime" (as Salsa legend Hector Lavoe sings). It is since "Chupa"! (Cómeme 15) that Sano turned out to be a masterly conductor of such delicate mischievous spirits we all love to let them deceive us, transforming them into sounds as full of sweet malice as they are of sweet love. Just listen to "Matasanos": Bad medicine. And then listen to "Me without You". International airport heart crash jam. Transcontinental love words. And then listen to "Paquidermos". Sano: "This one is ripped off from Juanito Alimaña´s iPod". What else? "I don´t": Back to adolescence. Dam Funk, Aguardiente and Kölsch. "Contonéate": Learned at Julita & Odile's palace in Paris. A James White & the Blacks enlightenment. "Anestesia": Late night painkiller jam. "Transilvania No Mercy" (feat. Los Malos): Asynchronous jam by the black river crew. "Necrophilic Love" (feat. Diegors): One night in Medellín, there was this guy that inspired us telling stories about a dead girlfriend of his youth and the way he almost loses his fingers. Diegors as the keyboard slave, Sano on drums. "Paranoic": How can you ask?

The string of Cómeme releases in its 14th year of existence does not stop! We are back with an artist whose tracks you’ve been hearing in the sets of the most free spirited and forward thinking DJs: None other than Bufiman has joined the catalog of Cómeme with a fantastic release: original, modern, and irresistibly danceable. 5 tracks featuring B- Boy Rhythms, outer space fantasy and dance floor utopia – in a way you’ve never heard this exceptional artist before. Since 15 years he’s a resident at Düsseldorf’s legendary “Salon des Amateurs” and has released on other wonderful labels such as Versatile,Safe Trip Records, Dekmantel Records and Fasaan Recordings – and under his other alias “Wolf Müller” on Themes for Great Cities, Growing Bin Records and International Feel. Due to living in a small flat with too many neighbors, childhood Jan could not pursue his dream of playing the drums, so he started to work with drum breaks on a program on Windows 95. Since around 25 years he’s now collecting drum samples, however you won’t hear any of these on this record. During the pandemic, Bufiman had to change his approach. Unable to work, due to the ban of all dance events he found a job opportunity as a night shift caregiver in a small town near Düsseldorf. This meant that he had to sit in a bus for at least three hours a day. To kill time somehow, he took out his Nintendo Switch portable game console and stumbled across Korg Gadget: a modern music program that he never particularly liked. The many hours on the back seats of the bus changed his relationship with the app as it was his only way of shortening the hours of commuting. The “Switch Beats” EP is the result of this particular time in his life, and once again we see that marvelous things can happen, when your ways of creating are challenged in an unprecedented manner. Let’s ride...

Matias Aguayo - El Camaron (Ricardo Villalobos Remix)
“A Cómeme classic that was ahead of its time finds a new life in fresh mixes by Matias Aguayo and Ricardo Villalobos” In a surprising turn of events Cómeme reissues Matias Aguayo’s “El Camarón” from his album “The Visitor” (2013) in a new 12” extended club mix including a remix of none other than Ricardo Villalobos. The latter suggested to give this forgotten latin new beat gem a new life! He had recently rediscovered it, and added to his sets - including his own 12 minute fabulous remix, which is driven by a mesmerizing groove and pumpin sub bass frequencies. Aguayo then decided to also rework “El Camarón” with an extended soundsystem - friendly mix, that will move the feet of dance music lovers from all kind of biospheres! The lyrics tell the story of an old river shrimp that accidentally joins a boat party. The ball starts in the guaraní jungle to later continue along the ivory coast, featuring super colour range towels, buzzing mosquitos, monkeys, parrots, piranhas, mermaids, and more. The shrimp becomes the star of the night by introducing new ways of dancing that make every one go down, down, down, abajo, abajo, abajo…

After more than a year of strengthening our bodies through workout, our poetic endeavors via the discovery of our inner worlds, and also the life of plants and mushrooms, insects, arachnids, birds and wild mammals, after a year and a half that saw us in lockdown, shattered around the planet, after one a and a half year in which we deepened our production skills and also the meaningfulness of our work, Cómeme returns to a new planet with new music. The beginning is this unique collaboration between Medellín based musician and DJ Julianna, and Matias Aguayo aka “The Don” himself. In this deep therapeutical exploration of rhythm and sound, these artists established a magical dialogue on distance, leading up to this EP called “Que si el mundo”, roughly translated: “What if the world”. Between soulful industrial expressions, emotional breakdowns but also discoveries free of any grids and algorithms, Julianna and Aguayo have created a beautiful piece of work, intense as the movements that we had to experience mentally and economically. “Que si el mundo” is state of the art electronic music of today, a work that is both introspective but also extremely open to the outside world and the universe. Compositions reminiscent of Coil, Angelo Badalamenti, Closer Musik, Steve Pointdexter or Mark Broom, shaped this EP that can be considered a short album in its conceptual layout and narrative

Cómeme delivers to you one of the freshest rhythms of 2018, recorded in Johannesburg, the new residency for the renegades of the beat. This is “Rain” – starring Matias Aguayo and the actress, dj and singer Ayanda Seoka aka Mujaji The Rain. She’s resident at the legendary Bar Kitchener’s all femme “Pussy Party”, a space for feminist / queer action and dancefloor joy, right in the centre of Joburg. Cómeme has been since some time in a serious and passionate relationship with that city. Radio Cómeme transmitted shows from there with electronica legend Felix Laband, Mpumelelo Mkatha from BLK JKS, the queer performance duo Faka, Gqom pioneers RudeBoyz and also Kwaito’s legacy keeper Spleef McZaul. Matias Aguayo ventured into a beautiful collaboration with DJ Spoko, released two years ago on this label.

With sincere excitement Co´meme is now delivering KATERINA’s very first EP to planet earth: “Just when you thought it was over” Katerina from Helsinki - Finland via Sofia - Bulgaria is a passionate music lover, a skillful DJ, an imaginative music maker and an emotional and hyper sensitive artist. She produces music that is essential and timeless, tracks that feel necessary in your life once they have entered it. Katerina has already contributed to the ever growing, always radical and forward thinking catalogue of the Co´meme music collective, with tracks on the compilations “Solidarity Forever” Vol. 1 and 3. She also hosts a show on radio Co´meme called Radio Emotsiya, in which she generously shares her broad musical knowledge and her very particular musical obsessions, for instance her steady – and in our opinion very understandable - veneration of DJ Quik. And yes, her music breathes the emotionality of Hip Hop, the sensitivity of well placed, swinging beats, and that steady survival mode, that essential melancholy in dance music: where melodies tell about love and longing, and rhythms help you to keep going on. “Just when you thought it was over”, here we go again, it’s another day on planet Emotsiya, from where Katerina sends us reports about her adventures, always sided by her already legendary white cat No¨po¨:

Silent is the new single by Miruna Boruzescu aka Borusiade from Bucharest. Silent is a suffocated cry. Silent as in silence that is hard to take. Sitting and waiting in silence, while exploding on the inside. Silent as in silence before the storm. An intense track that recalls industrial spaces, hedonism, sweat, sex and disconnection from the outside world. The rattling sound of ghost train passing by, or big reverberated factory machines unleashed. Body music 2017. The B side features a remix by the project Khidja , also hailing from Bucharest, and is driven by the track’s bass synth, a neurotic now school electro rapture take on the original. Silent will be part of Borusiade’s debut album that will be unleashed next year via Co´meme.

vaskular - 187000 feat Yula Kasp
First EP by Vaskular (the creator of“Black Jesus”) on Cómeme- Will appeal to lovers of South African beats and hip hop- Four jacking tracks of heavy dancefloor elegance- Probably one of the best bassdrums you will hear in 2017- 100% Cómeme dancefloor approved. Fun facts: Yula Kasp, who has recently released her own music on “Kill The DJ” is not unknown to Cómeme insiders - She did the videos to Cómeme classics “Guerrero”, “El Sucu Tucu”, “Levantate Diegors”, “Do you wanna work” and more, and did backing vocals on Philipp Gorbachev’s “Hero of tomorrow” EP! M. Aguayo played drums for her on some of her tunes, too

This is Cómeme bringing more hot rhythms to the dancefloors of 2017 and beyond – this time starring Charlotte Bendiks from Tromso, Norway with her smashing and generous EP: “Hidden Tracks” – the first Cómeme EP produced north of the polar circle! Charlie is a spaced out chica doing dark humour techno hotness - scared and attracted by encounters with ghosts and ghouls, lost souls, insomnia and aurora borealis frenzy – these mystical experiences drive her to do her own take on physical dancefloor pleasure and pain, spinning records or playing live alongside Jon-Eirik Boska, who also features on this 12”.

Since the beginning of Co´meme, until today we feel a connection to the electronic beats from South Africa. Co´meme tracks like "Pata pata", "Osea... Hello?", "El Sucu Tucu" and many more prove this, and one main inspiration, is DJ Spoko, partner of DJ Mujava, for whom he wrote and produced the legendary "Township Funk".
But also in Joburg, and without our knowledge, Co´meme tunes were dropped at some of the coolest parties in town, so Matias Aguayo aka The Don jumped of joy when he was invited to play there, where he met Spoko and started to jam with him in a studio in the center of Joburg! Jamming and smoking till the break of dawn, they put together these tracks, that carry the spirit of this label, the vibe of Joburg nights, the “Bacardi” rhythms from the Atteridgeville township outside Pretoria, comemian latin- tech grooves, the dancesteps on the carpet of Kitchener's Bar in Braamfontein and the hotness of a Co´meme night in Medelli´n, Cologne or Buenos Aires. From the realms of Buenos Aires’ legendary and undocumented nightlife comes a new EP by DJs Pareja - who have been generously introducing us to their nocturnal dancefloor visions since the very beginning of Cómeme, shaping not only the label’s sound and message but also influencing heavily the modern takes on Techno in Latin America. Here’s their EP “Alto” literally meaning “High”, and this is where it’s supposed to take you and surely will.

After Cómeme classics "Jagos" and the "Pitchrider" EP, numerous dance floor approved remixes and several chapters of musical knowledge and love shared via Radio Cómeme on his popular "Dance Show", Christian S returns with this new EP! It was recorded in fall 2015 "after resetting and repairing my mood as well as my Juno 106", as Christian says, playing it, adding some Simmons drums, a Casio MA120, vocals, samples, his 808, memories, dreams and moods, shaping a melancholic but physically driving dance experience.
