Tiefschwarz, - Legends
No break for Tiefschwarz! On top of touring the world with their new live show together with Santé and their always edgy DJ sets, Ali and Basti Schwarz have collected outstanding new remix materials inspired by the candy world of their last LP "Chocolate": The MELTED CHOCOLATE collection. Not so surprisingly the first set of Melted Chocolates (including remixes of Guido Schneider, SIS, Ruede Hagelstein and Tiefschwarz themselves) have been heavily supported over the summer by A-List International deejays of the likes of Loco Dice, Dubfire, Ivan Smagghe, Anja Schneider or Radioslave to name just a few. Tiefschwarz will keep on heating the dancefloors up with the release of Part2 and 6 additional brandnew remixes carefully crafted by PENNER & MUDER, SOULCLAP,KIKI and MAHER DANIEL. Highlight of "Chocolate" featuring the "voodoo-esque" vocals of Dave Aju, Ali and Basti have invited some of the finest talents of the German Scene to add their own ingredients to the recipe of "I Can´t resist". Recently hailed for their first album in June on Sasse´s Mood Music imprint, the duo Penner & Muder alternates dark stomping beats and melancholic piano-led parts for a remix, which equally speaks to the mind and to the body. With EP releases for 8 bits, NRK or Great Stuff, Amir (AKA Rimah Khalouf) has rapidly made a name for himself among the House experts. Amir liquefies the original track with bubbling sound effects and turns the vocals into dizzying futuristic chants. Your peak time`s next favourite. Bpitch Control´s Finnish superstar, KIKI goes straight for the groove. His jazzy keyboard simmers with classic deep waves and frequency noises, spicy and uplifting. Believe us you won´t resist. Also included in the vinyl package, "Home" (feat. David Wilde) has been given the remix treatment of Boston duo Dj Producer, SOUL CLAP (Wolf and Lamb). Mental and anguished, their infectious input should no doubt intoxicate the best hours of your after party in the few months to come.
Last but not the least, two additional remixes are included in the digital package. MAHER DANIEL is back on Souvenir (Souvenir Plus 02) with a devastating version of "Legends" and Kiki offers us dub version of his remix for "I Can´t resist" as extra gift. Greedy Autumn with Tiefschwarz!

tiefschwarz - tiefschwarz dub
Tracklist:
A) Skream Remix
B1) Acid Pauli Cloudbuster Remix (Vinyl only)
B2) Tiefschwarz Dub
Infotext:
Tiefschwarz are back again on Watergate with a dub version and three stellar remixes of 'Free Falling feat. Khan' from their recent and highly acclaimed album 'Left'. Kicking things off is Skream and he takes the original to new heights in true Skream fashion with vivid arpeggios and silky vocals laid over reverb heavy snares and driving percussion ideal for the more climactic dance floor scenarios. Up next is a man who needs no introduction: Acid Pauli. Already a legend in his own right, we last saw him on Watergate on the Peahen EP with MyMy and Lee Jones back in 2010 and now he's back with not one, but two incredible remixes. Both his 'Cloudbuster and Clouddiver Remix' are lush displays of melodic, yet driving takes on the original. Warm pads and pulsing bass create a swirling melodic journey on both with 'Cloudbuster' being the more pumping and 'Clouddiver' taking the deeper route giving you two foolproof options. Wrapping things up is Tiefschwarz' own dub version of 'Free Falling feat Khan' and with it they deliver a stripped down take of the original, yet keeping just a touch of the low slung, sleek vocals to make sure it still has the quintessential Tiefschwarz feel. Enjoy!

It takes time for a series of seperate ideas to evolve into a fully concepteptualized album if it wants to have a place in history for Ali and Basti Schwarz, better known as Tiefschwarz. Since 1998 the duo, as both DJ's and producers, have perfected the art of dominating the moments only experienced on a dance floor, deeply immersed in sound. Their music is unique as it is creative. Among the countless extended players and remixes, the three landmark Tiefschwarz albums: "RAL 9005", "Eat Books" and "Chocolate" all have a common thread weaving them together; a historic vision uniting the musical crossroads of past and future. As with the previous albums, Tiefschwarz pause briefly on the subjective localization of artists in the (music) world to create an album which unfolds like a story told by master story tellers. Igniting the dance floor while at the same time giving the listener the opportunity to look beyond themselves and into the journey that is "Left".
With "Left", Tiefschwarz were able to radicalize the album-specific approach and focus more intently on combining grooves with an introspective perspective. They refrained to bring in an outside co-producer for the album and made sure to forego the cliche variety of guest musicians, concentrating instead on one congenial companion: Khan, who both Ali and Basti have been close friends with since the 90's. Khan, a Frankfurt native of Turkish and Finnish decent, is one of the most prominent and exhilarating German Techno pioneers. Since the early 90's, Khan has been looking to the future with his Bizz O.D. moniker or his demimonde project Captain Comatose in the 2000's when he blew up the club world with his brand of fierce theatrics, trash and outrageous hits. He has published on Harvest, accompanied Gus Gus on tour and held residencies from Mexico to New York to Berlin. His residencies also highlight his choice of musical programming: devilish eroticism, glamour, and a "do it yourself' approach as well as combining three distinctly amusing personalities: the classic crooner, the diva, and the cabaret star. Between Tiefschwarz and Khan, the project emotes an entirely new undertone of glamour weaving beats through a Hollywood of broken dreams.
While the music industry today seems to be in a state of upheaval, certainties crumble and the album
threatens to fall the way of the dinosaur, the view of twenty years of club and musical experience see Ali, Basti and Khan taking the opportunity to seize what they see is a wake-up call to experiment. A chance to express their vision, which stands alone and unparalleled. Through a chance encounter in Mexico, Ali and Basti found that Khan was a perfect addition to the duo. As the experiment begins Khan writes, sings and instantly expresses himself as the third tastemaker while sounds meander from one machine to another and the three eat, drink and discuss how the vision will reveal itself as a tangible artifact. Before long the result is clear. Tiefschwarz have created soulful, yearning music that goes beyond the club doors and covers the whole world in a blue satin blanket. A dance written to be as sexy as it is pensive. It can be heard throughout the album as it highlights recurring historical moments in music as it comes of age. The ability to look back on times like when the Motown King, Marvin Gaye unveiled his classic "What's Going On" in the 60's or when the Black Dog's "Bytes" changed perceptions in the 90's.
Although Tiefschwarz have become masters of cryptic dance floor seduction, they are constantly paying homage to the Chicago House anthems as heard in their track "Free Falling" where happiness and horror are captured in a single line: "We transform from men to seaweed". Through Khan's words and voice, the ambivalence of Tiefschwarz's music is never more clear than before. In "Do Me", Khan takes on a clownish vocoder character with an alienated melody singing "Do you wanna dance, I'm on a crawl, I'm just behind, in aching heat, I'll be your shadow forever". Even though they are deeply rooted in club music, it's also important to always stay looking to broaden the spectrum of what would be expected from them. This moment became clear while in a session with guest musician Sven Regener from Element Of Crime. It was this moment when Tiefschwarz romantically professed to have found a soul mate. With the sound of Miles Davis' echoing trumpet coming from the lips of Sven Regener in "Morgen Abend", the three have produced an exit from an impending post-industrial gloom. Between just these two compositions from the album, there is a clear statement. Seduction and threat: the two eternal themes of "Left". And, with this, the finished album has brought Tiefschwarz to a mellow euphoria. "I could go on and on forever, in this light of bliss. I would not change a single thing. I just love it the way it is".

A1) Roman Flügel Remix A2) Original B) Frank Wiedemann Orchestra Remix
Infotext:
We here at Watergate Records are ecstatic to bring you the first single release 'Do Me feat. Khan', from Tiefschwarz in anticipation of their stunning new album, 'Left'. Along with a couple of carefully curated remixes by from two of the most prolific and unique remixers working today, Roman Flügel and Frank Wiedemann, the complete package is a trifecta. The original 'Do Me feat. Khan' is fully rooted in Tiefschwarz's cryptic dance floor approach, intricately balancing the serious and the absurd through the call and response of an almost comedically vocoded voice and a smooth, slick talking murmur. Khan's voice joined with a continually climbing bassline, lush percussive melodies and infectious drums result in a cut that is perfect for, and will shine, any time. Going a different direction by barely using the vocal, but staying very true to the original is Roman Flügel. Taking the original bassline and shortening the loop to 3/4 time, Flügel has devised a hypnotic tail chase that continues from beginning to end only to be accompanied by the whip of a big hi hat and wild 909 claps.
Finally, it's the Frank Wiedemann Orchestra Remix, and it's pretty safe to say that this will be one of the anthems of the year. Aptly titled, the remix is a magnum opus conducted by a master. An enormous ensemble of rich strings and delicate melodies that build and swell from start to finish.

2010 has been a very intense year for Tiefschwarz! Having released their new album Chocolate on their own label imprint Souvenir in May, they played a heavy schedule of DJ and LIVE gigs all over the world and released "More Chocolate" and "Melted Chocolate": a fine series of productions and remixes inspired by the original album release. "Melted Chocolate 3" completes the series and brings the "Chocolate year 2010" to a beautiful ending with remixes by: Reboot, Bruno Pronsato and Marcus Meinhardt. One of the secret weapons of DJs such as Sven Väth, Dubfire and Loco Dice in 2010 has been "The Whistler". To honour this very special tune, Souvenir included "The Whistler" into the digital version of "Melted Chocolate 3" with remixes by Nic Fanciulli and &Me + Rampa. For those who have not seen Tiefschwarz playing LIVE yet: take your chance to celebrate Christmas Eve at Cocoon Frankfurt with Sven Väth and Tiefschwarz Live! Merry X-Mas!!

STILL HOT! Tiefschwarz and Souvenir Records proudly present: TIEFSCHWARZ "MELTED CHOCOLATE 1".
No summer break for Tiefschwarz! On top of touring the world with their new live show together with Santé and their always edgy DJ sets, Ali and Basti Schwarz have collected outstanding new remix materials inspired by the candy world of their last LP "Chocolate", which will be released from now on in a series of "Melted Chocolate" singles including remix contributions by REBOOT, SOULCLAP, PENNER & MUDER, SIS, GUIDO SCHNEIDER, RUEDE HAGELSTEIN, KIKI and THE TIEFSCHWARZ brothers themselves. The 29th EP release on their own Souvenir imprint compiled a first set of those extra gifts: one TIEFSCHWARZ REWORK version of "STONES", two remixes by Guido Schneider and SIS of "FIND ME" featuring CASSY and one remix by RUEDE HAGELSTEIN of "LEGENDS". In other words: four more opportunities to play "Chocolate" over the months to come. Tiefschwarz's "STONES REWORK" has the rhythmical obedience and intricacies of a fully automated machine. It is easy to get lost in the plethora of alternate beats that merge in and out of each other. Layering on top of this bed of percussion is the "blink and you miss" stabs of vocals and melodic synthesizers that build to a fantastic climax at the songs mid-point. Hypnotic is a term that is thrown about somewhat in these genres; this time...it has a rightful home in this track! Released early this year, "FIND ME" featuring CASSY has made it's way to the charts of an incredible amount of twisted House experts and is a perfect counterpoint to "STONES". With a much more organic flavor, GUIDO SCHNEIDER (A-list champion of Poker Flat) keeps a strong pace with the marching octave bass, large & lazy claps accentuate the beat with sweeping synthesizer swells that evolve into the lead vocal line sweetly delivered to finish off the arrangement. Last but not least, Souvenir´s very own RUEDE HAGELSTEIN delivers another proof of his outstanding qualities with a superb remix of "LEGENDS".

The night sky is a shade of "Tiefschwarz" (deep black). Or at least it has been in Germany, Europe and the rest of the world since sometime around 1997 when brothers Ali and Basti Schwarz joined rhythmic forces. Their first venture was '24seven', which firmly put the then sleepy Stuttgart on the map as a top nightlife destination. The deep house duo then debuted with their pertinently titled single 'Music' in 1998 and by 2001 the pair were expanding the parameters of modern dance music with their album 'RAL9005'. Tiefschwarz quickly became a mainstay on the club scene. With the licensing of the album by Classic Recordings Tiefschwarz captured the attention of London, paving the way for their rise to international notoriety. Through high profile remixes they have also made a name for themselves as masters of reworking other people's tunes. Depeche Mode ('John The Revelator'), Madonna ('Get Together') and Spektrum ('Kinda New') are just three of the many artists who have had the Tiefschwarz treatment. So that's the background story. But the days of setting up their decks in the evening sun at the now legendary club ON-U in Stuttgart are now a distant memory for Tiefschwarz - you're now more likely to find them in their studio in Berlin. And as it gets dark and the deep black of the night sets in, Tiefschwarz come to life - clubbing being their biggest vice, yet also their biggest strength. Now they're back with their third album 'Chocolate', and a major leap forward for the duo: things are different now for Tiefschwarz, as this is the first release on their own label, Souvenir. Ali and Basti now have the world at their feet and are revelling in the artistic freedom that comes with their independence, as you can hear in their latest work; the tracks reflect their musical development over the last few years. Techno and house still form the foundations, yet Tiefschwarz push themselves beyond their previous limits. They've found a new, intrinsic sound of their own that oscillates between numerous genres - at once both clear-cut and immensely intricate. One minute the steady bass drives a dancing rhythm, the next it would have you believe that four to the floor is actually a beat based on a prime number. 'Chocolate' is everything: subtle, bitter, and sweet, without milk and sugar, it is hand crafted from only the finest ingredients. The tracks work perfectly on the dance floor, yet at the same time, the album as a whole is great to listen to outside of the club setting, due to its fantastic depth, enduring vocal tracks and subtle production methods. The first single 'Find Me' is the perfect example of striking the right balance between music to dance to and music to listen to - resident at Berlin's Panorama Bar, Cassy can be heard on this track, who has made a name for herself through working with the likes of Steve Bug and Ricardo Villalobos. Alongside Cassy, guest features include Seth Troxler, Dave Aju and a talented new singer with an incredible voice, whose identity is yet to be revealed... Ali and Basti worked with Philipp Maier, alias Santé to produce the tracks, and the new dynamic that has emerged from the collaborative production process has manifested itself in a distinct live quality. So much so that Tiefschwarz will now be performing as a live act for the first time, with Santé joining Ali and Basti to complete the live Tiefschwarz line up. Preparations for this summer's Chocolate tour are well under way, with big ideas in the pipeline. Tiefschwarz aren't just perfecting the art of creating their tracks live, but are also entering new territory with their plans for the use of visuals. Without wanting to give too much away, it's safe to say that light and shadow will play a role in creating new depths within a charged and penetrating live performance. And the focus is not on two, ahem, three men with their laptops, but rather on the music itself.

Tracklist EP:
a1 Desert a2 Desert ( Danton Eeprom protofunk rework ) b1 Desert ( Juju & Jordash remix )
Short info:
For the next release on Souvenir, the label dips into the past of almost 30 years ago to retrieve this forgotten souvenir of the times, dusting off and rejuvenating Section 25's classic, 'Desert', taken from the album, 'From the Hip' on Manchester's infamous Factory Records. This reappropriation of the 1984 track is the perfect choice for two very seasoned producers whose own musical history dates back to those days: Mahk (Mahk Rumbae) and DJ Morpheus (Samy Birnbach). As a vocalist, A&R, label manager, DJ, producer, musician and more, DJ Morpheus has been involved in music from the late 80s. He formed part of cult act Minimal Compact during the mid-80s then went onto producing as the Gruesome Twosome (releasing their biggest hit 'Hallucination Generation' in 1989), and then later, in 1994, worked as A&R for SSR/ Crammed Discs, taking the helm of their much loved Freezone Compilations, exposing the world to artists as varied and cutting edge as DJ Cam, Kruder & Dorfmeister, Photek, Abacus, T-Power, The Mighty Bop aka Bob Sinclar, Howie B, Coldcut, Carl Craig, Basement Jaxx, 4 Hero, Josh Wink, Plaid, Alex Gopher and more. Working in electronic music since the late 1980s too, Mahk has spent much of his time working in the experimental field, both as part of long running industrial/ experimental band Konstruktivists as well as on a number of solo projects. He also produced dance and techno in the early 90s, then in the late 90s in the UK drum and bass scene, releasing tracks on Mickey Finn and Aphrodite's label Urban Takeover. Mahk continues to work on new music, recently returning to the techno scene with his new dark techno project Codex Empire.
The A-side sees the pair reinterpret the much loved Factory Records track, twisting it into a slow driving, bloody curdling, arpeggiated late night anthem for the freaks. Complimenting this reworking is a remix from prolific French electronic producer, Danton Eeprom who injects a little more funk with a chopped and slapped bass with piqued guitar hooks, all cloaked in dubbed out reverb ambience. For the B-side, industrial and analogue noodlers Juju & Jordash turn in what can only be described as a tripped out journey through the stems of the original which perfectly rounds out this fascinating update of a once loved classic.

French producer David K is ready to announce his debut album, 'Out of Range,' an off-the-radar mixture of romantic melodies on drugs, rocking beats à la parisienne, and sounds to turn you on, released on Tiefschwarz's ever reliable imprint, Souvenir.
David K represents something that's all too rare in electronic music today: an artist who makes music first and club music second. For him, emotion is paramount, melody is important, the pop format has its perks and original material is always better than a sample. Late at night and early in the morning, he can be found tapping away on his keyboards and throwing together arrangements on the fly (a pianist by training, he can't bear to make music slouched over a mouse). His only goal is to make something that will keep himself dancing.
His roots are in Paris, where he lived his entire life until 2011. He started DJing in the late 80s on a makeshift set of gear, complete with a radio and tape deck, but once he hit his first rave in '91 he went straight for the Technics 1200s. He was making a living as a teacher and graphic designer, but like some invisible cosmic force, the life of the full-time artist kept drawing him in. Always involved in creating, composing, and mixing, he began his production career with the Boogabaloo EP on Sismic in 2002, a small Parisian house label. Not long after that he fell in with some key figures in the Paris' underground club scene, such as Dan Ghenacia, who brought him into the Freak n' Chic stable. "This album has been 10 years in the making. Well, almost." he points out. "I started to hold on to some of the tracks I was writing over the past decade or so. I suppose you could say that this album is a bit like a bedside-table book which transcends all of my influences, my musical history, and my idea of modern music." David has always worked conscientiously with the dance-floor in mind, though his sound has always dipped into the outer reaches of myriad genres; rock, funk and unashamedly straight-up pop, a confluence which draws on his honest inspirations. The range of influence can be heard right through the album Beyond drawing upon mere historical influence, he has also brought on board close friends including guest appearances which only help add to the album's rich makeup: dOP frontman Jaw appears on "How Beautiful You Are," frequent collaborator Opium (of La Boetie and Nouvelle Vague) sings on "Intro," whilst old friend and Italian producer, Francesco Farfa, shares writing credits on recent single, "Come Up From the Darkness," David's own voice comes through on on "Show Me The Deal." Like all of his records, the entire package is glazed in the quirky eccentricity, nonchalant percussion and irresistible hunk of sleazy and funk-fueled boogie that we've come to expect of his productions over the years.
In a world of increasingly short attention spans, 142-character, self-styled status updates, ubiquitous smartphones and Big Brother-esque governmental spying, David K shows that sometimes it's good to just take yourself 'Out of Range' for a while.

I suppose you could say that this album is a bit like a bedside-table book which transcends all of my influences, my musical history, and my idea of modern music."
David has always worked conscientiously with the dance-floor in mind, though his sound has always dipped into the outer reaches of myriad genres; rock, funk and unashamedly straight-up pop, a confluence which draws on his honest inspirations.

Tracklist EP: a1 Robogeisha b1Fluffer feat . So&So b2. I Wont feat. So&S
Following on from their room-crushing, latin-afro-infused El Matematico EP on Katermukke in 2013, seasoned veterans returns Holger Zilske and Kai Preussner (aka Smash TV) return to Tiefschwarz's consistently exceptional Souvenir label and get down to business with three brawny, burning-hot grooves infused with their signature flavour on 'Robogeisha.' An undoubtedly familiar name to any followers of dance music from the past 10 years, Smash TV have amassed an extensive repertoire of releases on various house and techno labels and rubbed elbows with some of the biggest names including Miss Kittin, Raz Ohara, Daso, Richard Davis, Dave DK, and remixed the likes of Claude Von Stroke, Kiki, Adam Freeland, Toktok and Marco Resmann. Oscillating between smooth and rugged, techno and house, dubby and in-your-face, Smash TV's assured and organic style has earned the enthusiastic support of legendary producers and DJs alike. 'Robogeisha' brings their hybrid of sounds back once again, combining thumping kicks, cosmic stabs, stuttering percussion and Geisha vocal samples all into the one pot. 'Fluffer' directs its attention straight at the dance floor with a no-nonsense, head-down stomp. Final track, 'I Won't' brings equal destruction with pitched down samples pinned down by tight percussion, and a wandering bassline that won't let you stay still for long.

For him, emotion is paramount, melody is important, the pop format has its perks and original material is always better than a sample. Late at night and early in the morning he dances alone in his studio, tapping away on his keyboards and throwing together arrangements on the fly (a pianist by training, he can't bear to make music slouched over a mouse). Cocoon, Guy Gerber's Supplement Facts, Tsuba Records, Visionquest, and, more recently, Tiefschwarz's carefully curated Sounvenir and sub-label NAU. His new single, alongside Italian-born house and techno producer Francesco Farfa for Souvenir sees the pair draw upon their unique, shared skillsets. Initially Farfa contacted David to enlist him for remix duties on one of his tracks. After listening to the remix, Farfa asked him to refurbish the original together. 'Come up from the darkness' marks another stellar collaboration between the pair. The release pulls together three quirky and eccentric dance-floor ready cuts, complete with a vocal tool for DJs. Live percussion, nonchalant bass bumps and pitched down vocals come together in unison to create an irresistible slice of sleazy, funk-fueled boogie that brings light to anyone who listens. Come up from the darkness.

Tracklist EP: A1. Stab The Slab B1. Zaafaran B2. I Say
Whether he is headlining at nightclubs or playing a marathon set for an underground afterhours event, Elon has a key asset in shaping New York's vibrant underground music scene. And with this new EP, Stab the Slab, he effortlessly showcases the sophistication in the style and sound which has earned him this central positioning in both NYC and beyond. Since his first release in 2006 on Made to Play, Elon has produced several successful EPs and remixes on labels such as Get Physical, Clink, Dumb-Unit and Metroline. His releases, like Bummalo with Maceo Plex, Noose and Fuck Cuba EPs have received global support which led to the launch of his own imprint, ReSolute Label in 2011. On 'Stab the Slab', Elon has laid down layers of pitch-bending cow bells, wandering arpeggios - building to crescendo - bright chimes and energetic percussion, undercut with grooving basslines that venture to the deeper, dark side of his sound. The slabs are there to be stabbed.

Tracklist EP: A1. Trident B1. Perseus
It's becoming a rarer and rarer thing nowadays, especially in this fast growing, overcrowded world of music, to find well educated musicians with the ability to read music and play instruments. Kenny Leaven (real name Andreas Braun), however, is one of the few. Besides running his own label Elenore Records since 2009, founding and organising Erfurts Bayou Festival, he is still producing quality music. Kenny's new EP for Souvenir keeps in line with his unique, interstellar sound; two quirky, eccentric cosmic cuts which stand unparalleled by other producers right now. Both tracks on the single recall something of the Balearic euphoria of Todd Terje's recent output as well as making humble references to the pumping analogue bass of Italo and more rigid early 80s electronic explorations. Step on board and prepare yourself for an interplanetary, cosmic journey through music history, expertly examined through a modern lens.

Tracklist : A1. Cock robin ( Mr G´s RA Dub Mix ) B1 . Tonis Pipe
Since 2004 Chris Wood has been working as a successful producer and remixer for labels including Souvenir, Below, Kindisch, MurMur, be_chosen or levelNONzero and in 2009 he started working with his long-time friend, fellow producer and co-owner of Freebase Records in Frankfurt, Meat (Carsten Schuchmann). Coming just a short time after the release of his collated singles collection, Retrospective, the first track on this new 12" from Chris Wood & Meat comes courtesy of deep house don, Mr. G. His remix provides a sparse take on the original 'Cock Robin,' jacking straight ahead into a hard-hitting house rhythm, complete with finger-clicks and vocal stabs. A definite dance-floor roller. On the flip, the duo have provided a brand new cut, 'Tony's Pipe,' which rattles with drilling percussion and soaks itself in a modulating, acid-tinged synth line, all built around emerging, muffled vocal samples.

Tracklist EP: A1. 11 am ( before ) B1. 11 am ( after ) B2. 11 am ( Hreno and the Mole ´s mhmd remix )
Marco Freivogel's first solo release provides a fresh direction for this seasoned producer. Marco will already be known to those in the techno world for his live project Exercise One, with his partner of 10 years Ingo Gansera. As the full time producer of Exercise One, Marco has released records on Mobilee, Wagon Repair, Cocoon and their own Exone & Lan Muzic labels, as well as remixing everyone from Shackleton and Peter Van Hosen to Sian and Dapayk & Padberg. But in the last few years Marco has been producing behind the scenes on a number of new projects for artists including Tiefschwarz, Dave Vega, Mama and Elif Bicer, and collaborating with friends on new music, such as last years stunning EP as Exercise One vs Mathew Jonson 'Lost Forever In Happy Crowd'. This 12" for Souvenir in 2013 will be the first solo release, but marco also has plans later in the year to introduce his new live solo techno project that's inspired by his early musical days playing in industrial bands. The original '11am (before)' is a winding house track, featuring the vocal talents of Elif Bicer, who's previously known for her work with Ben Klock, Prosumer and Steffi. For '11am (after)' Marco strips back the melodies and toughens things up. The remix comes courtesy of Canadian friends The Mole & Hreno, who deliver a characteristic bouncing rework to get the dance floors pulsing. More

Hot on the heels of release 050 from Tiefschwarz with Argenis Brito on vocal duty, comes a neat remix package with contributions from David K, Strangers in Heaven and Re-UP.
French producer David K has released on all the major Parisian labels, Freak n' Chic, Rue De Plaisance, Jetaime amongst others. Here he serves up a double dose, his 'Allegro' rework anything but, the vocals twisted out of recognition into a muttering chorus of demonic gremlins, while the mutant drums steadily beat out an ominous tone. A distant marimba and the odd piano chord that's left hanging, a quizzical non sequitur, lift the melody. On the flip, David's 'Grand Piano' pairs a shuffling, almost jazzy beat with a shower of tinkling pianos, the vocals washed with melancholy from the keystrokes that slowly morph into plucked strings.
Souvenir's very own mysterious twosome, Strangers in Heaven, beef up the kick and make the bassline snake and swirl, turning up the groove factor. The vocals provide respite from the tension, while skittering synth sounds come up close against the hypnotic beat. Upon You stalwarts Re-UP take it deep, a throbbing bassline playing off the tightest of snare hits, a squelching synth hitting suddenly and a distended voice appearing too out of nowhere. It's a total transformation, none of the original parts distinguishable, as if seen through a prism of the unsettling.
