A record that was built for huge sound systems and joyous packed, sweaty dancefloors and one that features the supreme vocal skills of Barbara Tucker in full flow. It has all the trappings of a classic. The A-side is the same as the original 1994 pressing with the now legendary 'Underground Network' mix opening proceedings, a roof-raising piece of organ led, gospel tinged goodness complete with it's iconic 'deep deep inside, deep down inside' vocal refrain slap bang in the middle for the sample spotters. Also included are the wonderfully stripped back and bumping 'Beautiful Reprise' mix and the original monster 'Club Mix' which sees Louie's MAW cohort Kenny Dope Gonzales at the desk on mixing duties (again, rinsing the amazing 'deep inside' vocal to great effect) and finally, to round off this essential package we are treated to a deep as you like Mood II Swing dub mix that is all swirling pads and organs, taking us into the early hours in style. Incredible, stone cold classic house music from the mighty Wayne Gardiner, a truly underrated producer whose output has remained evergreen over the decades and is definite deep house royalty. 'Moments In House' is from 1990, unbelievable really when you hear how fresh it sounds today. The clue is in the title, this is a killer version of Art Of Noise's seminal 'Moments In Love', a landmark record in itself. Gardiner pays tribute to the Art with his stripped, funky and driving use of their infamous pads and tones, a nod to the NYC / NJ clubs where records such as 'Moments In Love' would have been deemed the classics of the day. 'Just A Touch' is on the flip, a beautifully deep and bassline driven cut that evokes the spirit of Larry Heard, but doesn't borrow too heavily from him while carving out it's own late night sonic niche. One for the dancers and the lovers of the deepness. It's hard to top records like this, from the dawn of house music's golden age, innocent and uncomplicated yet oozing with soul and depth. Groove Patrol aka the 95 North crew dropped these 2 sides of heavyweight NYC Garage pressure in 1993. One listen and it's obvious the influence records like this had on UK producers and scenes. Swinging, funked out and tough, all at the same time, 'Need your love' is here across 3 mixes. The original mix itself sounding the most UK-centric for sure. If soulful, underground US House is your bag you'll be needing this reissue for sure! Absolutely oozing class, classic material. 'Dancin to the music' is the B-side, 2 mixes feature, again and it's that 95 North sound - drenched in soul, yet street at the same time. Both versions are hard enough for the heads, but musical enough for the dancers who are deep in the speaker stack. Brilliant stuff for House lovers old and new. This one's a tasty 2017 reissue and remaster, featuring all cuts, unedited, as per the original release way back when. Essential stuff here. Do not sleep. A worthy addition to any DJ's bag. More

Dan Curtin's name has long been associated with future looking Techno, machine music oozing with soul and emotion. He has released on many seminal labels throughout his career and left an indelible mark on contemporary electronic music. 'Alive / Cascade' is perhaps a lesser known entry into Curtin's catalogue, released on Strictly in 1994 and is almost the perfect synthesis of NYC deep House and Detroit Techno, a true slept on gem of a record. The music contained within the grooves of this record defy any sort of time frame, it's almost hard to believe it's over 20+ years old. A truly beautiful record, 'Alive / Cascade' is a must for all electronic music lovers and will undoubtedly continue to be played and enjoyed for the next 20+ years ahead. Astounding stuff and yet another example of the wide reaching ears and minds operating Strictly Rhythm during this golden period. More

Another cornerstone record from the mighty Strictly Rhythm catalogue, 'Waterfalls / Feel it' is an essential example of the deeper, more melodic style of house that emanated from NYC / NJ in the early to mid 90's. Originally released in 1991 the EP features the production style of Andrew 'Rags' Richardson with some co-production assistance from one Roger Sanchez. It perfectly encapsulates the style of music that would be played at clubs like the Loft, Shelter, Zanzibar and beyond, a more emotive and soulful strain of House that gives a respectful nod to it's Disco roots. 'Waterfalls / Feel it' has long been the toast of House aficionado's and is most definitely a record that will still have people rushing the booth asking 'what's this?!'. Grammy Award winner Louie Vega has the unique ability to spotlight and highlight the most essential elements of classic dance tracks and remix and recreate them to create something just as powerful for today’s audiences. Currently in the midst of putting the finishing touches on his forthcoming album, Expansions In The NYC, Louie took some extra time to gather together the original members of the seminal New York – based disco funk band Unlimited Touch and collaborate with them at Log Cabin Studio in Manhattan and his own Daddy’s Workshop Studio in New Jersey to produce the 2020 edition of “I Hear Music In The Streets.”

Unlimited Touch consists of Audrey Wheeler (lead singer), Phil Hamilton, Tony Cintron, Sandy Anderson (RIP), Stephanie James and Lenny Underwood. “I Hear Music In The Streets” was originally released on legendary imprint Prelude Records in 1981.

Growing up in the Bronx, from an early age Louie had an affinity and love for all the various musical genres that were bubbling up in New York during that era defining creative period. It is that passion that has stayed with him during a career that has brought him Grammy’s, several worldwide hit records, and a status as one of the world’s most sought after DJs. It was especially fulfilling for Louie to work with the original members of Unlimited Touch, He quickly realized that their talents were still as strong as ever as they performed musical and vocal elements from the original song, and that they had the vision to see how the song could be re-energized by having Louie add his unique production elements to this seminal tune.

Louie is in the midst of an especially prolific and productive period. In 2016 he released the Grammy nominated Louie Vega Starring….XXVIII full length album; 2018 saw the release of the widely acclaimed and chart topping NYC Disco 2 X CD and 4 X vinyl album on Nervous Records. Mattel, the title comes from early drum machine, the boys have used sounds from that original drum machine and have produced a drum driven electronic groove. The beats and groove reaches a climax and goes into a frenzy percussion solo played live in the studio by Kenny Dope. Louie Vega bounces off the beats and percussion solo with a bouncing bassline and hard hitting stabs taking this seven minute and fifty nine seconf track into the stratosphere. MAW Records release the next tracks in line from the Maw Lost Tapes digging saga by Masters At Work. This release entails the story of a special studio session by one of the NY House Pioneers who brought you 'The Music's Got Me' by Visual along with his partner Timmy Regisford back in 1982. His name is Boyd Jarvis (RIP), a keyboard genius, also one of the early creators of this unique sound. Masters At Work had only a few rare sessions in the early 90s with Boyd and the outcome are some of these stunning outtakes on 'Boyd's Jam' produced by MAW. Driven by the Zipper sound and swinging house KD beats in MAW style, the Boyd bassline carries the tune in the pocket groove with LV chords bringing atmosphere and mood. Then comes the Boyd magic with his organ solo ripping through the hypnotic groove. This one is classic Masters At Work taken from the early 91-92 sessions, it's as authentic as can be. More
