Released February 2017 on his own Ladies and Gentlemen imprint, Green Supreme is the fourth studio album from house music veteran Phonique: a collection of 11 remarkable songs from one of the scene's most revered producers. To describe Phonique as prolific would be something of an understatement. To date, he has amassed a discography of more than 500 original tracks and remixes - as well as three previous studio albums - for acclaimed labels such as Dessous, Poker Flat, Crosstown Rebels, Systematic, Souvenir and of course his own label Ladies and Gentlemen, a collection which includes some runaway successes. Despite working on Green Supreme, Phonique's fierce production rate has continued unabated in 2016, with highlights including 'T Groove' on Katermukke and his stunning remix of Frank & Friedrich 'Coming Home' which landed on Universal earlier this year. Phonique's three previous critically-acclaimed albums attest to his evolving sound and diverse influences, his deep knowledge of house music, and masterful attention to detail, all of which are further established with Green Supreme, arguably his most diverse and polished album to date. Throughout his career, Phonique has excelled in working with vocalists, a theme that continues with this collection. Tracks of note include the creepingly ominous deep tech of 'Something To Remember', on which Stee Downes delivers a phenomenal vocal, and 'Taking A Chance', a delicately melancholic deep house cut complete with sweeping synths and half-caught vocal samples.
"This is my most focussed album by far" say Phonique of the project. "An album should be a pleasure to listen to, even in five, ten, twenty years, so it can't just be a club beats for 60 minutes. I need vocals, warm melodies and stories.

Going down more of a techno route, ‚Tooltime‘ completes the package and breaks out the big guns for some serious heads down dancefloor ignition. Urgent and tight late night action, not for the faint of heart, the track‘s title is too modest - it should really read ‚Peak Time‘.

Phonique has certainly been steering the buzz with his second album „Good Idea“ which has just been released by great critical acclaim. many reputable DJs such as Richie Hawtin, Funk D‘ Void or Ralph Lawson have already been playing these tracks in their sets. We picked the most beloved tracks from the LP and now here is a fresh new three album track remix EP containing mixes by Charles Webster, the long term deep house maniac who serves to be an incredibly good choice, Will Saul, label owner of „Simple“ and „Aus“, and a final remix by the man himself Phonique. On A1 it‘s the Charles Webster remix of „Worked It Out feat. Ian Whitelaw“. It starts off as a nice thudding beat with a crisp minimal click on the offbeat, until an echoing vocal sample swifts in and around starting off the soft but pushing „shoulder shifting“ bass line. Smooth piping reverbed blows outline an almost euphoric melody, a very trippy and atmospheric tune with soft cymbals pattering away in the background. Soothing sounds and housey chords mix perfectly to make a chilled out dreamy beach tune with a nice progressing beat. A swerling bridge with a 90‘s Casio chord melody steps in and then fades out to the echoes of the vocals drifting silently away into the sun..... On B1 it‘s the Will Saul remix of „Bang“. Dun, dun, dun, dun, whoosh! - ...then... a descending high minor melody calling with an electric bass response. Squeeky bird sounds and weird reverbed chords makes you feel like you‘re in a crazy dream falling and falling... yet the beat keep you stable and composed... just about! An out of tune dungeon computer game. Strange but true and also very interesting!! And finally, on B2 it‘s the Phonique version of „Space Cruise feat. Gui Borrato“. Trekking through a spaceship journey tune with mechanical functional sounds releasing here and there. A repetitive two noted melody comes in and fades out, is replaced by an array of spaced out tones, arrivies back again, meets up and resounds into a fancy orbit around the galaxy. The bridge has a nice slightly bongo beat helping to groove as the stars and planets fly past, only to finally end off with some echoing splashes.... indeed wheres my head at?!

Dessous rounds off the year with another highlight release by Phonique. After "Weapon" (des54), the always busy producer is back with a fine three track EP entitled "Lizard". The title track is based on a sharp lambent sound and a funky Phonique-style bassline joined by a hypnotising keyboard-expanse and nice melodies after the break. "Hermes" on B1 is a little more minimal and straighter groovewise with impulsive accented chords and sharp hihats pushing the track forward. A modern cutting edge House-track! 'Self Knowledge' is a deep, techy roller clocking it at nearly 10 mins - plenty of space to expand into its full potential - the groove grows ever more hypnotic and engaging as the track unfolds.
Next up is 'A Reefa' - a non too subtle reference to a certain herb that might have inspired this loose yet highly funky deep house jam.
'Casa De Estrela' changes the vibe up with a more direct and jacking track - even though it would work at prime time, Chocky's feel for space and drama make sure the track will be heard in many diverse surrounding and sets this year.

IvanLatyshev is a record producer and DJ with more than 10-years experience, having grown up in Russia's cultural epicentre of St Petersburg. Developing a love for deep house, the young producer has been releasing his perfectly-realised club tunes on labels such as Toolroom, and now provides us with a second outing on Dessous Recordings. The Art of Flying EP presents two original tracks and a pair of remixes of the lead cut.
The original 'Art of Flying' is quite a statement - a jazzy, swingy beat introduces the track, before solidifying around punchy 4 / 4 groove. Restless synths drift in and out resulting in a track that is both exceptionally funky and deeply wonky - topped off with a killer spoken word vocal.
The ever-dependable Eddie Fowlkes steps up on remix duties and supplies a more jacking interpretation, adding a filthy bassline on his Fly Mix.
The same track also gets a 'Crazy Dub' rework which expands the space within the track and strips it down for maximum club effect.

James Dexter's star has been rising for a while now - the young Brit turning out killer tracks regularly on the back of hugely well received DJ sets. On his second outing for Dessous Recordings, Dexter does what he does best - four slices of deep, funky and vibing house music for the floor.
Lead track 'Drift' is typical of Dexter's flair for subtle, edgy sounds, wrapped inside a warm and inviting groove. Elements come and go, but the shuffling, infection feel runs throughout.
'Take Me' is a more upfront vibe with a seriously bumping groove - Dexter clearly well versed in the roots of house music from Chicago.
'Whose Rules ?' is a snappy, bright and lively production, with a sub bass that will troubler some of the world's best club systems in the coming months. The light, jazzy vocals offsets the groove perfectly - sure to be a big tune for a wide variety of DJs.

After a considerable career releasing on numerous labels, as well as being co-founder of Essen based label Mild Pitch, Langenberg finally drops his first album under this alias. Max Heesen, (who is also one half of Ribn with Manuel Tur) delivers the smartly titled 'Central Heated House' for Steve Bug's Dessous Recordings.
The LP format suits Langenberg's hypnotic house classicism well, allowing time and space to stretch out the grooves and moods over four sides of vinyl - working both for the DJs and perfect as a soundtrack for the autumn.
The LP kicks off with 'Jade', a melancholic, tape saturated introduction to Langenberg's deep tastes. 'Room 210' maintains this atmosphere, with fizzing percussion and warm Detroit-esque melodies.
'Groove 26' is perfectly timed for the hot summer, as lush Rhodes chords and KDJ style vocal snippets provide the heat for the openair vibes.
The single from earlier this year 'Shadows' features the talents of vocalist Blakkat, and caused some serious response when it hit airwaves and dancefloors alike.
'Never Worry' is a heads down roller, built around a simple but perfectly executed bassline, while 'Dreamliner' is trippy laidback sunshine house all the way. Timmy P's latest outing on Dessous Recordings continues the long list of illustrious labels that have been home to his house vision. Now based in London, Timmy has a string of emphatic releases under his belt, not least on influential imprints such as Local Talk, Extended Play, Dirt Crew and MadTech.
With Safety First, Timmy's playful approach to the deeper side of house shines though. The title track mixes crisp, crunchy drums with warm, soft pads and a bubbling bass line - a deep rolling cut with plenty of punch for the floor. The fantastically named 'Grim Fandango' is a little tougher, with the snares and claps snapping tightly over a taut, un-resistible vibe. Timmy's balance of dynamics is masterful, each element perfectly complimenting each other to create a tour de force over 8 minutes.
'Bosh' is similarly crafted - the original echoing classic 90s house but feeling completely fresh for 2016, while James Dexter's remix is a robust, deep roller. This is house music made with joy and passion.

St. Petersburg talent Ivan Latyshev drops a killer EP on the ever-dependable Dessous Recordings.
Ivan has been making waves over the past couple of years with his distinctive brand of deep, groove-heavy house music on labels such as What's in the Box, Street King and Spaghetti Monster - but this To My Youth EP sees the young Russian step up to another level. The title track shows a deep affiliation for classic house vibes, mixed with some jazzy flourishes and swung grooves. The sense of euphoria is tangible, and the spoken word vocals add a level of house mysticism that will be always welcome on deeper leaning dance-floors. Can't Go Away goes a shade deeper still, bringing layers of delay and reverb to the track that help shape a true slow burner. Old Ages also highlights Ivan's love of jazz rhythms and sounds, building from a live drum break into a rolling deep house monster - it's infectious stuff and suggests Ivan Latyshev is going to be name to watch in the next months and years.

Long an unsung hero of the underground, Langenberg (a.k.a Max Heesen) has a string of quality releases to his name, both on his own solo as a part of his Ribn moniker with Manuel Tur. This outing on Dessous Recordings provides yet another string to his bow; 'Shadows' is a supremely soulful outing featuring the vocal talents of Blakkat. Liquid deep and balanced perfectly between euphoric and melancholic, 'Shadow' sees Mark Bell (Blakkat) deliver an emotional invocation over a beautifully crafted track, with echoes of the master Larry Heard clearly present.

Sublime and slinky four tracker from James Dexter on Dessous Recordings - Steve Bug's label for the deeper side of house. The Young Brit shows his mastery of the form with an EP that combines effortlessly club-ready grooves with exceptional sound design and a strong melodic sensibility. Dexter clearly know a thing or two about creating dance floor moments, with each track exhibiting a classiness that belies his age. Have It Like That kicks things off with a chugging, hypnotic feel and crisp drums providing the basis for a cool vocal hook and thick, warm bass. No Time gets a shade deeper and no less funky, while Get To This points a little further towards the center of the dance floor. Always eager to champion new talent, Dessous Recordings unearth a precious gem from Brussels-based Lockwood, a duo comprising childhood friends Gert-Jan Haegeman and Billy Hillaert. 'Let's Talk' sets out their stall: a shuffling, shimmying groove upon which an unruffled bassline and blue-tinged jazz chords blissfully coast. This is warm, dreamy, house so deliciously laidback and soulful that it never outstays its 9-minute running time. The choppy, busy handclaps and ridiculously over-the-top squidgy bass of "Sway" explore different territory - frenetic synth-funk shimmering with layers of synth and zingy repetitions. 'Yearning' for its part melds a tough, rubbery tick to cycling keys and choric pads. It's the bass that's the star here, bending the tune around its abrasive low-end. Meanwhile, Nils Penner underpins "Let's Talk" with a huge, booming bassline and brings its spoken-word sample to the fore: a treatment which somehow retains the magic of the original's vibe while lending it a dark, glittering technoid edge.

Alex Blaxx drops three original tracks for Dessous Recordings following a couple of very well received releases on Buzzing Fly and Sccucci Manucci. Blaxx now resides in Manchester by way of Cape Town - both cities with strong house music credentials. Blaxx himself excels in lush house productions with plenty of soul and a lot of dance floor knowledge. The EP’s title track 'It’s Been Done Before' gives a healthy nod to the hugely fertile period of New York house in the 1990s, but retains a freshness and spark that sets it apart from many of his contemporaries. It’s highly musical and organic, with hugely effective hooks, builds and pads that will bring smiles to the faces of dancers worldwide. 'Gilmore Heureux' is a darker affair, with a raw evolving groove with a Detroit flavor. It’s got plenty of grit, and a few innovative twists and turns along the way. 'All the Difference' slows the pace slightly, unwinding a killer groove driven by a piano and punchy drums. About midway through a sublime synth bass joins the fray, and the track lifts off into the ether.

Vincenzo returns to Dessous Recordings with something a little special. 'Merry Go Round' features the stunning vocal talents of Language aka Kaori Kaneko, a haunting, drifting and highly affecting piece of music that sounds like nothing else. Kaori already released two albums on Japanese Crue-L Records as Kaori and three albums with her band Language on Madoromi / Atari Productions and was also featured on the Chi Chi Squads classic 'Treat Me Right'. Built on dreamlike, evolving pads and textures, the vocals are reminiscent of the best work of Tracey Thorn, rising and falling over the 7-minute duration of the original mix. After some minutes a crisp, chugging, mid-tempo beat develops and lifts the track yet further, a moment perhaps best enjoyed at sunrise. The Reprise Mix is a totally beatless mix, emphasising the pads, guitar and piano work. The third track sees Axel Boman on remix duties, who primes it for the dance-floor with a loopy, hypnotic rework that retains the original character but adds a visceral, gritty quality for the dancers.

The young French producer and DJ Oliver Andrade returns to Dessous Recordings with his brand new, fresh for 2014 EP, 'Madness'. Madness kicks off with 'Egregius' – quite a statement for this rising talent in European house circles. The lead track evokes classic deep house from the US Mid-West, whilst never being defined by its influence. Synths bubble to the surface, pads wash over the raw and funky drum track, and a looped vocal ties the whole piece together. 'Madness' treads a similar path, but with a slightly tougher vibe. The atmospheric, late-night mood is enhanced with reversed samples, lush chords and the occasional robotic voice. 'Bac a Sable' shakes things up with an unsettling rhythm that works its way into an infectious driving groove, accentuated by jarring synths. It feels specifically tailored to pushing that early morning crowd to the next level.

Liverpool’s Andy Ash has been releasing finely crafted, authentic house music for a number of labels over the past few years, including appearances on StilLove4Music, Kolour and Quintessentials. Here he joins Steve Bug’s Dessous imprint and drops some of his best work yet - four

'Workin' shares a little headspace with that other Liverpudlian pioneer, John Heckle - emotionally uplifting electronic music that keeps things rough round the edges. 'Mindflow' references the classic sound of Chicago in the early 90s, a disco/funk vocal sample interplays with tightly woven percussion and an ever present bump - Mr. Ash clearly knows a thing or two about moving dance floors. 'Release and Check' makes up the remainder of the EP - a deep, rolling jam with live sounding keys, and a highly effective acidic bassline which send the whole to several both groovy and euphoric moments.

Dessous Recordings team up with one of Berlin’s most talented and thoughtful producers for this sublime three tracker. Andre Lodemann has been quietly turning out deep classics for some years now, both on his own Best Works label and influential imprints such as Freerange and Room With a View. Here, Lodemann provides us with some perfect examples of why he’s held in such high regard by DJs, producers and clued up music lovers alike. 'Imagine' starts out with an insistent, nagging groove that’s counterbalanced with an ethereal, soulful vocal. Lodemann then allows the track to grow and evolve through a series of gear changes – a beautiful synth melody, string stabs and fizzing percussion all drift to the forefront and then recede. This is head music for the dance floor – Deep House with true feeling. 'Eyes Wide Open' also contains a wealth of melody, welded expertly to a groove that works the soul as much as the body. Lodemann’s knack for creating epically emotional house music is on full display here – 'Eyes Wide Open' will no doubt be the choice of many a DJ looking for that perfect sunrise record over the summer months. Likewise the stunning remix provided here by the Bronx’s Alix Alvarez - his reinterpretation maintains the gorgeous melodies but adds a little of that NY house bump to the groove – working up a highly infectious, heady dance floor potion.

Langenberg has been busy releasing his distinctive brand of knowledgeable deepness for well over half a decade now. As co-founder of the Essen-based label Mild Pitch, the man otherwise known as Max Heesen has been responsible for some sublime moments in house, both on his own label, and for imprints such as Liebe*Detail, Drumpoet Community and Poker Flat. Here, Dessous Recordings get their hands on the sumptuous release ‘The Finisher‘. Informed and influenced by the classic Detroit sound, Langenberg produces yet another exceptional transmission. The title track is as smooth as liquid gold, yet contains a dub-tinged techno edge reminiscent of Langenberg’s Ribn project with Manuel Tur. The soulful piano interplay is pure Detroit meets Essen, and combines to produce one of the year’s standout moments. Next up is ‘Wait State‘, a bouncing groove featuring Langenberg’s trademark crisp drums and percussion, and a fantastic revolutionary vocal sample. ‘Sun and Sorrow‘ is on a more driving tip, but maintains a familiar minor key motor city deepness.
