Mathew Jonson, - Return Of The Zombie Bikers
2019 Repress. Brown kraftpak sleeve
stunning second 12" single on his new label´is finally coming folks. what a name for this pretty incredible 2 tracker!! "Return of the Zombie Bikers" is a massive spine shiveringly intense almost dnb b lined big room track recorded in early 2005 and can easily be compared to Mat´s strongest moments including "decompression" on minus. Don't get us wrong though, this track doesn´t necessarily need the comparison,it easily stands out by far.let it work on and let it touch you, we feel it´s probably one of the strongest records MJ ever did!! "Put your booty shorts on" is yet another a side track written in 2002 dedicated to his wife Frank and remixed with including a vocal in 2005. A unique taste of what is to come in future live sets at the festivals this summer.this is the "hi end" in micro house coming. More

Mathew Jonson - Just a Little Bit
Innovative multi-instrumentalist and electronic luminary Mathew Jonson returns to Crosstown Rebels with ‘Tako Tako’. The Canadian synth wizard returns to Damian Lazarus' renowned imprint with two magical and absorbing new productions, with the most excellent two-tracker. Mathew Jonson has developed one of the most distinctive voices in electronic dance music. His take on house and techno is rich in synth craft and high on captivating emotions, all shaped by his notoriously extensive collection of analogue and hardware gear that he can play, manipulate and use like few others. An electronic mastermind renowned for releasing countless seminal tracks and albums, both solo and as a member of Cobblestone Jazz, he returns to a label that has been a constant throughout his career. With his ‘Tako Tako’ EP, he offers two more superb journeys on Crosstown Rebels. The fantastic ‘Tako Tako’ kicks off with Jonson’s signature mix of elegant and refined synth craft, with dancing melodies bringing futuristic energy and neon colour to crunchy beats. They are smeared and smudged in a painterly fashion and help make this production a pulsating dancefloor thrill. Equally standout is ‘Just a Little Bit’, powered by a jostling broken beat with a warm bassline and wordless vocals sampled throughout. It’s funky, kinetic, always on the move, and rounds out another one of Jonson’s fantastically inventive yet effective EPs.

Mathew Jonson, - Passage to the Other Side
2020 Re Edition, Recut from Original Tapes + Master
Tracklist
1 Panna Cotta 9:13
2 Passage To The Other Side 11:29
Original Info from 2012:
2012 marks the 10th anniversary of the labels first release "New Identity" with two new tracks pressed especially for you. Lost in vaults until now "Panna Cotta" resurfaced in Marco Carola's recent sets off of a CD Mathew made for friends in 2003. After multiple mails and YouTube links sent from Marco's fans it spurred Mathew to look into the old collections and find the masters. The track was untitled so chances of finding it were at first thought to be slim. As fate would have it though it would be the first out of hundreds of CD's only labeled "2003" that Mathew picked from the box in his search. Here at IIWII we believe heavily in synchronicity. These tracks have found there place in time to be released. To add to the occasion "New Identity" will also be released for the first time digitally for those that didn't get the vinyl years ago. A1. Ambient Pressure Mix A2. dB’s Raw edit
B1. Konrad Black’s “Decompresha" Remix B2. Nathan Jonson’s Rewind to 96 Mix !
Short Info:
Mathew Jonson's “Decompression” was first released on Minus in 2004. To celebrate 13 years since it's release Mathew has commissioned 11 artists to remix this classic split over 4 releases. The first EP of the series features remixes from dBridge, Konrad Black and Nathan Jonson, each artists contribution provides a fresh approach to a package fuelled by the influence of Drum & Bass. dBridge steps up for two remixes, the first is warped and deconstructed, the second a high energy Drum & Bass belter. Konrad Black slows things down with a darker groove whilst Nathan Jonson's 'rewind to 96’ utilises rave tropes and chopped vocal samples. The package is a magnificent addition to the legacy of ‘Decompression’ and coming next will be remixes from Seth Troxler, Deadbeat, Mike Shannon and Natalia Escobar.
Mathew Jonson’s “Decompression” was first released on Minus in 2004.

A true techno auteur, Mathew Jonson earlier this year released his second solo album, ?Her Blurry Pictures? on Crosstown Rebels, encompassing a new evolution in his rhythmically complex and timeless approach over eight fluid and rich composition. Now soon to drop is a package of unmissable ?Blurry Remixes? featuring a trio of first class reworks by Dixon¨ Tale Of Us and Akufen Innervisions boss and Berlin luminary Dixon turns in a storming reimagining of the atmospheric, electronic matrix of ?Level 7? where straight talking techno does the driving as layers build, get stripped back then steered onto a more melodic path underpinned by a rumbling deep bassline. Next up, the unstoppable duo Tale Of Us transport one of the more playful ?Blurry? cuts ?Kissing Your Eyes? into a brooding dubby sound bed of live sounding drums combined with rippling echoing synth melodies. Berlin based Carmine and Matteo aka Tale Of Us, first rose to prominence on the Visionquest imprint in 2011 and have since released on Life And Death and M_nus. Glitchy tech meets raw rolling drum beats in Akufen?s ?Body In Motion? remix. As hypnotic, as you would expect from the Canadian mastermind, Akufen lures you into a trance and keeps you guessing, progressing from dextrous minimal textures to full on fluid jazzy piano interpretations.

Honorary Rebel Mathew Jonson will soon be unleashing his long awaited third artist album on Crosstown Rebels but first a slice of the Canadian minimal house pioneer’s inimitable style with two tracks of distinct tonal contrast both with the unique stamp of a Jonson production. Killer A-side ‘Automaton’ is a powerful trip with a solid yet nuanced drive, intricate tribal beats with an almost syncopated African influence combined with gnarled bass sequences in a never-ending groove. B-side ‘In The Stars’ enters a more abstract realm, with celestial synth melodies melting into a sound bed of futuristic bleeps and a soporific groove of percussion and a heavy bass beat. In the breaks, vague jazzy chords fuse with an echoing voice descending from space.

Crosstown Rebels iconic catalogue knows no bounds and without relenting for a moment, the label now bestows the next masterful creation from none other than Mathew Jonson. ?Dayz? is a beguiling trip through groovy textured electronic pastures, a simply stunning release, and great addition to Mathew?s armory! A-side ?Dayz? is classic Jonson. Meandering, modulated synth lines build into an epic electronic orchestra of warm fuzzy strings and ambient melody all padded with an intricate carpeting of shimmering percussion and molten bleeps. Intricate digressions keep the listener rapt but for all the complexity of ?Dayz?, Jonson creates a theme that is beautifully simple. It?s impossible not to be swept away on his sonic wave. B-Side ?Cold Blooded? has a stomping bass beat and funk strutting bassline punching through the spacey sequencing and swirling synth strokes. Resounding sub-bass darkens the mood, engulfing the backdrop of rhythmic drumming; this is real heads down warehouse gea that will hypnotise the crowd . Mathew Jonson needs little introduction. A legend with one of the most distinctive voices in the industry, whose made forays into jazz, house, fusion, techno and all aspects of electronic music, the Canadian born, Berlin based producer epitomizes refined musicianship, stylistic innovation and artistry. Co-founding the Wagon Repair label and participating in the Modern Deep Left Quartet and Cobblestone Jazz, Jonson is responsible for some game-changing tracks including ?Marionette?, ?Typerope? and most recently, the revered ?Learning To Fly? on m_nus. Jonson is still proving he?s in a class of his own.

There are few artists at work in electronic music today with a sound as unmistakable as Mathew Jonson. The Vancouver producer has been steadily turning out some of the most inspiring electronic compositions of the past decade, beginning with his debut 12" for Canadian imprint Itiswhatitis Recordings in 2001, with a career taking in releases on Minus, Perlon and Kompakt - along with a steady output on the Wagon Repair label he co-founded in 2005, and numerous related side projects including Cobblestone Jazz, The Modern Deep Left Quartet and Midnight Operator (alongside his brother Nathan aka Hrdvision). Learning To Fly will be Jonson's second release on Minus, following 2004's Decompression EP - the release that truly launched him on the international stage and laid out a blueprint for his ever-evolving style, one that manages to consistently explore new territory whilst maintaining the aesthetic that makes his productions distinct from every other artist working today. Learning To Fly is arguably one of the most exciting singular works of Jonson's career, recalling his first Wagon Repair release: 2005's Marionette, a record that continues to inspire cultish devotion six years after its release and thoroughly deserves every adjective for 'hypnotic' and 'anthemic' that's ever been thrown at it. Learning To Fly retains those qualities whilst taking them yet further - a 12 minute sci-fi exploration that achieves that mark of classic electronic music production, working just as thrillingly for personal listening as it does when experienced as part of Jonson's transcendent live performances. Jonson himself considers Learning To Fly to be among the best compositions of his career, and brings it to Minus after years of waiting for the right track to follow the mighty Decompression. "For me this piece reflects clarity and harmony," explains Jonson. "Richie Hawtin is someone who has always inspired me to take my work to new levels, so it's fitting that Learning To Fly will be released on Minus”

Mathew Jonson, - Stop
Canada's Mathew Jonson has become one of the pre-eminent producers in electronic music today, creating some of the most influential tracks of the past few of years both as a solo artist and as a founding member of the peerless musical trio Cobblestone Jazz. This, his fifth solo release on his own label Wagon Repair, continues in the tradition of enterprise and experiment that we should expect from his Vancouver studio. This EP presents a series of firsts, with Mathew trying his hand at electro pop for the first time, arranging a track for the first time on computer, and it sees his uneffected voice feature for the first time on a track. Opener 'Stop' offers the first of the firsts. This dreamy electro pop odyssey is a half written, half improvised jam, recorded live whilst singing, playing the vocoder and mixing the track simultaneously. Synthesized rainfall descends on a squelched funk bassline, as free vocoded passages meander between phased percussion in a wondrously woven workout. B side 'Real Dreams' signals both the first time Mathew has arranged a track on a computer, and the first time his pure vocal has made it onto tape. A downtempo arrangement mixed live to stereo track, this murky and cathartic exploration was borne of realising things about a past relationship, as descending harmonised melodies pulse contemplatively to a defiantly progressive beat. The shift of the creative process from live, physical creation to reflective computer editing is significant, and fitting to the prevalent mood of evaluation and reassessment. In combining these elements with Mathew's unsynthetic vocal we present an intimate and explorative new dimension to his already enthralling repertoire.

underground darling Mathew Johnson with another extra-large three track stunner: right from the start swirling synth over a pinching beat suck you into a vortex before a rubbery bassline takes the lead and an electrical storm of dark, haunting sounds wrap you in. well, words don't do this truly symphonic oeuvre no justice - this has to be experienced in the dark and in earsplitting volume. on the flip MJ gives free reign to his unlimited creativity with an impressive soundtrack-style tableau of electronic jazz, sounding like late bass-revolutionary Jaco Pastorius descending form the outerworld to interveave some of his crazy warbled, bend notes into a messianic David Axelrod arrangement, mixed at Lee Scratch Perrys echo chamber. miles above your typical paint-by-numbers club fare - simply HUGE!

A: Ditch Pig B: Harry the Kase Man B2: Silent Samba
The Modern Deep Left Quartet is back. Well actually, it never really went away, but due to contractual obligations they had been releasing as Cobblestone Jazz the past few years. So it's high time that the projects are re-branded as originally intended, and this release marks that foray into quirky techno and mid-tempo goodness. On the A-side we have the synth stab orchestra known as Ditch Pig. It is direct and to the point, pushing onward and upward with a refined relentlessness. On the flip, we first find Harry the Käse Man, a mid-tempo slice of future funk. A chugging beat meets splashes of twanged out blips and quirky pads resulting in a welcome departure from the Quartet's normal direction. Rounding out the release on B2 is Silent Samba, a quirky and obtuse groove sprinkled with a little cheekiness and a touch of the abstract. It's a great representation of the odd free form jams the quartet loves to imbibe in

This past June the Modern Deep Left Quartet boys hunkered down for a month in Mathew's Berlin studio, producing a wealth of content for future consideration. While they focused mainly on the four-man project, this is the only Cobblestone Jazz track resulting from the session - made on the couple of days The Mole was away on a Sardinian retreat. In their classic form of Danuel on Fender Rhodes, Mathew on SH101 bass and Tyger Dhula on drums, this is another example of how the three piece sounds on stage, this time with a straight ahead samba house groove spread over two versions. The A side - BEFORE THIS has plenty of fiery rhodes and shuffled hats to compliment the congas, synth and snaking bassline, while on the flip we find BEFORE THAT, which is decidedly more subdued and relaxed, with a mellower rhodes pass and stripped down drums.

BOMB ALERT! Hrdvsion's "Prettier Than That" is a monster, created by a monster and is perfectly suited for the likes of Wagon Repair. Dim the lights, because when this record drops it's going to get freaky!
On the flip side, Midnight Operator (the duo of Mathew Jonson and Hrdvsion) bring the noise! "Dangerous Behaviour" rains bass in your face! The third installment in the Cobblestone Jazz 12" series brings two more tracks.
On the A side we find "Who's Future?". Full of bubbling elastic bass and deep chord swells, it's a laidback affair with a snappy groove to push it along. On the flip is "Across the Nation", a stripped out and up-tempo electro jam with crisp breaks and gated pads. All the elements mingle together to create a thick bed of future funk. Another wheel for your wagon.

On the flip is "Across the Nation", a stripped out and up-tempo electro jam with crisp breaks and gated pads. All the elements mingle together to create a thick bed of future funk. Another wheel for your wagon.

Cobblestone Jazz are back after the highly successful Memories EP with their second installment in the series. On the A side, we find the spaced-out zero-gravity jam Lunar Lander - its sparse and jittery beats complimented by some sweet key stabs and a thick and burly analogue bassline. Flip it over for Your Life (You're Life) - an uptempo slugfest of crunchy beats and a driving bassline that won't quit. As always, both tunes were recorded live in studio and have been culled and edited for your mixing pleasure (A side duties performed by tyger dhula while the flip was done by danuel tate). Stay tuned for the next installment, and, until then, enjoy! Lunar Lander is available on vinyl via Wagon Repair and on digital via !K7.

Canada's Cobblestone Jazz have established themselves as one of the most unique and inspiring bands of the past decade. Thanks to their exploration of house through the eyes of a jazz improv group, their music is derived from the organic energy of the group's jam sessions and their now legendary live performances. Comprised of members Tyger Dhula, Mathew Jonson, Danuel Tate along with newest addition The Mole, Cobblestone Jazz are as accomplished individually as musicians and performers as they are a band - united by long term friendship, respect and passion for writing music in the moment. Their decade long history of releases on IsWhatItIs, !K7 and Wagon Repair have earned the praise and long time support from the likes of Gilles Peterson, Carl Craig, Luciano and Sven Väth. "Memories (From Where We Are)" celebrates the first of a series of 12" releases that will come out on Wagon Repair over the course of 2011/12. The outcome of a Berlin jam session last fall, the band incorporated a Fender Rhodes, vocoder, and SH-101 to make up the core voicing of the tracks while a CS-20 provides the drive at the end of both. In typical Cobblestone Jazz fashion, the track was mixed live with no prior sequencing arrangement. The session was then cut by The Mole into two sublime edits - the results could be their strongest release since "Dump Truck".

"'Where did you just go?' is something my girlfriend often says to me when she's talking to me and I kind of drift off. I'll be talking to her then just stop all of a sudden. I think the title reflects me and my music well; there's this idea of going in one direction then suddenly pausing to dream about a completely different place..." The debut album from Hrdvsion, aka Nathan Jonson, takes the listener to a variety places, at least some of which will doubtless be new to many ears. A non-compromising creator of glitch-heavy electronic music for the last decade or so, Hrdvsion has finally matched his esoteric vision to the more formal structures of house, techno and electro/breakbeat. "I did it to make the girls dance!" he laughs. "Actually it's a kind of bridging point. The production, the way it's mixed, is similar to my older stuff as I've always liked loud and punchy music. In general this album is a bit subtler. I focused on letting ideas evolve more slowly and let the grooves go on for longer. I realised I liked making techno! But it's still fairly challenging I think." Jonson's prior releases on labels like Itiswhatitis and the upcoming Wagon Repair (run by his brother, Cobblestone Jazz's Mathew Jonson) are known for their scattered Squarepusher-esque energy, their bleep-drenched melodies and sense of twisted urgency. Where did you just go? retains these circuit-busting tendencies yet aims more directly for the dancefloor. Opening track "842 Colours" blends off kilter beats with Hrdvsion's trademark skittish sounds, while cuts like "Captivated Heart", "City Girls", "Closed Eyes" and "Making It Home" cultivate and simultaneously subvert 'traditional' house and breakbeat riddims via buzzing synths and serrated melodies. The deep and resonant "Cause I Love You" (influenced by the DJ sets of his friends and fellow Berlin residents Dirt Crew) are, he admits, among the "softest I've ever written". "I think I'm coming to terms with the fact I don't have to fight against everyone," he says. "Four years ago, I would never have released something like this. I would have felt like I was doing it for someone else and that would have bothered me a lot. But now I can see it's still all done for me even if it doesn't sound like it. I've allowed myself to be more indulgent and ditch some of the anti-social sentiment apparent in older material..."Don't go thinking this is a predictable techno album though. Plenty of songs hark back to his earlier, more chaotic work. "Betrayed,""Bonker Brainss," "Kiss Yesterday Goodbye" and "Claustraneonia" are wild-eyed forays into acid-addled glitchtronica, replete with distended diodes and screaming capacitors. Nathan ends the album with a couple of nostalgic visits to his ambient days, namely "Amsterdam at 457" and the lush closer "I Wish I Could Directly Affect". Where did you just go? was started when Hrdvsion moved to Berlin in 2009. During a period of insecurity borne of being broke in an alien city, he opened up his laptop and sorted through hundreds of finished and half-finished songs, creating what were ostensibly remixes of the originals. "It was like this collaboration between the old me and the new me," he laughs. More or less by definition, Where did you just go? represents a brand new era for Hrdvsion and his unique sound.

''Be At Risk'' was created at Tracknotic Studios located somewhere in the beautiful and magical hills of ibiza. It was recorded and produced by Bea Tricks and Beatmaster G (producer/beatboxer) using state of the art class A equipment and a whole lot of good vibes. Wide range of influences can be heard when listening to 'Be at Risk'... such as; electro pop, punk rock, hip hop, old school, 90's techno ... 'We wanted to create an innovative record where all our influences would bepresent and that would go deep into the roots of our musical tastes... from records that we used to love as kids, to the tracks that really get us going on the dance floor. There's also a mystical side to the project, that we thought was relevant to the current situation where there's a whole lot of talk about 'the end of the world' and so on... when you hear tracks such as 'el mensaje' you will be able to decipher our positive outlook on this topic, but also our beliefs in the knowledge transmitted by lost civilizations and the fact that we believe in a renewal process and not an 'end'. We created a character that travels through dimensions to awaken civilizations to the fact that they must be brave and use their supernatural abilities to transition to the next phase....just how us 'humans' should do'' Marta Nael's artwork for the record reflects the arrival of the dimensional traveler to a fictional world where it's inhabitants will interact with him and show him a good time (melting dancing) and their fears (pipistrello) to their non-conformism (contravention)... 'Its up to the listener to interpret the record in their own way, and we just hope that you will have as much fun listening to it as we had making it!'

It has been five years since my last solo Mr.C EP, having focused my song writing attention during this time on working with my production partner, Adultnapper, on our Sycophant Slag's projects. As Mr.C, I wanted to make three tracks that really reflect where I'm at these days as a DJ. As always, this meant working in minor chords to get the depth I desire in my music. In the 22 years that I've been making house & techno music, I've always used an engineer, that is until now, so this project was also about me learning to use Logic & working alone. The EP has therefore taken me the best part of 8 months to make, working on these tracks in many short sessions, which has served the dual purpose of learning to work alone & making an EP that I can be proud of.I started with Waxing (working title Waxing Moon) & wanted to go for that deep after hours vibe. It had to be spaced out yet soulful, warm & rich, so with the tempo set at 122bpm, I started with a simple rhythm & then started layering deep chords & bass line with spaced out tones. The track soon took on a life of its own and directed me into making what you hear now. I've always written in this way and I'm a firm believer that the best tracks really do write themselves. On completion of Waxing, I kept hearing lush strings, pads & beautiful melodies on the track, which are a signature of the Mr.C productions, comparable to my only solo album, Change on End Recordings. So when I started working on Full Moon, I had the idea that this was to be an EP of three versions of the same track but all with very different purposes as DJ tools, rather than three completely different tracks. With Full Moon, I slightly changed the chord structure of the bass line to make it sit more comfortably with the pads, stabs & melodies I was hearing and am delighted with the final results of this version - a beautiful last track of the night or sunrise piece. So now I had two deep, beautiful, extremely different versions of the same track but there was nothing really for the main dance floor. This is where Dark Moon comes in. I pitched up the tempo to 126bpm, lost all of the deep chords, pads & melodies but kept the spaced out aspect of the original & then proceeded to make the tune dance with a pumping bass line, techy bleeps & some nice dark pads. The track had to be something that I would play in the middle of a Mr.C set, so it had to have edge & be haunting. Delighted with the results, the Lunar EP was complete.
The making of this EP was a lot of fun for me as well as a great learning process. I hope you enjoy the music. Mr.C

Wagon Repair is pleased to welcome Exercise One to our roster, with their newest EP - Several Things at Once. This four track EP, with a bonus digital only track, is sure to please.
Title track, Several Things at Once, is the result of Marco and Ingo playing around with some new gear purchased to enhance their live act. In fact, this track was explicitly meant to be an addition to their live shows as it was produced using their exact on-stage setup. By laying out a groovy foundation and letting the machines do their thing, this intentionally rough and dirty sound is able to be accessible and seducing at the same time. The A2 track, Breeze, was inspired by windchimes on Marco's balcony, which were recorded with a mic and mixed with melodies and reverbed kicks coming from the back ground, resulting in an almost early era Aphex Twins ambient feel. Although the second tracks on both sides were originally planned to be really loud and noisy, both tracks came out on the opposite side of the spectrum as inspiration took hold. B1, Colony, is a subtle track that seems to accumulate power by winding itself into the mind and body of the listener. Whenever this one is played in front of a crowd it always has a great impact as its psychedelic and focused elements mix to great effect. As with the digital only bonus track, Twin, a trippy feeling lurks around with a kind of 'submarine' atmosphere. Both Twin and Colony have been a part of Exercise One's live-set for some time now as they are one form of techno that the boys just love to play as it gives them the variety that they have always craved. The closer on the EP, Prowl, is more of an tensioned atmosphere than a track. Prowl is mainly based on sound-shifiting and old samples that are intended to transmit the mood of a predator in search of its prey. The digital only track, Twin, has a chunky, upfront bassline for a foundation, which drags you into the track like a strong under current. Little sets of percussions and delayed chords fly through the track to keep the mind focused while the body is already hooked to the groove. Pretty in your face and trancey, but just so much fun to play!

Following up on her unanimously acclaimed third album ' May Be Later' (Vakant), Chilean artist and Berlin transplant Alejandra Iglesias conceived 'Anemik' entirely for the Wagon Repair label after being approached by label head Mathew Jonson. A musing on femininity and the fine line between romance and delirium, 'Anemik' transcends borders in its range of influence and reflects consciousness in the fluidity and tangibly live origins of its creation. Recorded using analog equipment and acoustic instruments with a strong emphasis on voice, there is a wisdom and maturity to this work that suggests an artist in the prime of her life. Opener 'Childish' builds from meditative beginnings with looped synth, wandering pads and wildfire percussive cycles that concoct a deep and dreamy landscape. 'Romaniks' creates space between electronic and acoustic spheres with Latin soaked beats encircling a subdued kick. Mantric vocal chants inject a mystical dimension to the affair, its psychedelic overtones continuing into 'Westoid', where Dinky's vocal lament is complimented by the baritone accents of Los Updates enigmatic Jorge Gonzales. 'Gold Fishes' bubbles into being with processed choral scales, while 'Rain Fallic' is a mid tempo trip of lazy legato harmonies and epic Telecaster drones. Title track 'Anemik' is a restless electronic frenzy, with melodic and percussive elements feuding amidst staccato vocals, effervescent machine transmissions and a penetrating central kick. 'Glacial' opens with an aquatic brew of reverberant vocals and deep percussion that swims through murky pads and delayed keys to close. 'Ceramik' weaves a tight beat, with warm Rhodes accompaniment, live percussion and ramped vocal passages concocting a mesmeric floor worker for the early hours. A perfect example of the fluid, jam infused
tone of the album as a whole. Thumbed melodic patterns and sonorous key stabs characterize 'Glassic', while 'Skyped' intertwines grandiose processed chorals, deep metallic percussion and leveling pads in a hypnotic malaise of storm and sweat. The infectious arpeggiated melodies of 'Epilepsia' are invigorated by live Latin percussion and intermittently cooled by warm pad progressions in a contemplative ascent to close. 'Fadik' grips as a wonky love song set to cascading beats, strummed guitar and electronic emissions, while closing track 'Nocturnal' unsettles with moribund ambient shivers to complete the kaleidoscopic range of flavors and emotions offered by this most remarkable of records. At times dreamy, at times nightmarish, at times romantic, at times befuddled, 'Anemik' is always quintessentially Dinky. More

Cobblestone Jazz founding member Danuel Tate is back on the solo tip with his newest project for Wagon Repair - WAG055 'Doesn't Like You Back EP' - and this time, probably as a result of spending so much time on the road with bandmates Mathew Jonson and Tyger Dhula, he's bringing it harder. Although some familiar elements from his first EP, 'Pushcard', can be found in the horns and synths mixing together to form the beds for the quirky vocoder, this five-track release comes more direct.'Doesn't Like You Back' reflects the moment on the dance floor when you realize the woman next to you is way out of your league, which we guess isn't a bad feeling as long as you like dancing with super hot women.

Exciting times at Wagon Repair as London duo Dollz at Play release their debut EP after 5 years of taming dance ?oors throughout Europe and the world. London transplants Xochitl and Bea, originally from Mexico and Spain respectively, have been tipped for great things. 'Oscura Wand in Paris' is a mid pace bass driven minimal electro strut, equally suited for the Miami sun or Berlin dawn. Sleek and deep, spoken words punctuate a tight percussive ascension into a synth hook that ties together a broad mix of resonant tone and psychotropic modulated vocals. 'Oscura Wand in Paris (Danny Boy Dub)' is a subtler beast, pacing elements into an ethereal and meditative ambient journey. Intermittent vocal emissions and soaring tones colour a bubbling percussive loop in a contemplative downbeat mix.
'Oscura Wand In Paris (Mr.C Remix)' sees Dollz at Play manager and Superfreq head honcho Mr. C providing the ?nal mix, a deep and engrossing techno trip founded on swelling synth, bouncing
bass and epic melodic elements that launch the track above and beyond its earthly origins.

Wagon Repair's first release past the 50 benchmark offers a look at long time partner Hrdvsion's latest works of chopped melody and effervescent invention. Opener 'The Mohana' explores a central chord progression with intermittent squeaked melodic static, reverberant pad echoes and crisp swinging percussion. A pragmatic animal, dueling hook lines dance, transform and compete for attention between pounded kick and hat in one of Hrdvsion's most floor ready tracks to date. B side ' Sliding Into Air (Edit)' takes matters ten clicks deeper as soaked pads loom forebodingly over lively harmonic sparks. An exercise in volume and dynamics, melodic holes are punched through a compressed mix, their impact adding profound rhythm to the already infectious percussive motor. Epic and uncompromising, 'Sliding Into Air' is a violently graphic alternative to its meeker techno cousins. 'Sliding Into Air (Live)' , which will only be available in digital format, offers a different shade to its aggressive original, with melodic and percussive variations adding definition to the tracks monolithic pads and mix meddling dynamics.

Wagon Repair are excited to announce the latest EP from Berlin based Canadian Mike Shannon.
The Re-Nag EP, his third Wagon Repair release and first production of 2009, is the latest in a long line of releases from the head of Cynosure Records, with his work having previously graced imprints from ~Scape and Num to Richie Hawtin's Plus 8 Records. Opener 'Darkstar 3000' is a futurist techno stomp. Engined by poked melodic tones and a prominent metallic hat, dissonant stealth melodies manoeuvre around percussion and punched bass. Biding time to prolong suspense, both bass and key melodic journeys coordinate to climax in a tightly executed sensory assault. 'Sweets (TLA Mix)' opens energetically with static percussive tones circling around a pummeling kick. A rapturous vocal takes lead, effervescing within a wind tunnel of wobbly bass melodies and dizzy pads to close. 'Sweets (Acapella)' is an abstract entity, with it's sole vocal discernibly haunting in the absence of beats and structure. Full of texture and space, this is one for the producers that will surely not go to waste.

Part of a new breed of Detroit techno, we are delighted to announce Ryan Crosson's debut Wagon Repair EP. Having already released on Trapez, Telegraph and M_nus under his alias Berg Nixon, Ryan's floor friendly live sets and shuffled percussive styles are getting many excited, with due cause. A side 'Confiteria Del Molino' is a bassy and deep bomb. Introducing itself with eerie warped vocals and strutting beats, dynamic melodic tones hover above a subtle synth progression. Enlivened by stabbed horn samples, percussion and booming bass is key to this track's heavyweight strength. B1 'Sunshine Wave' is slightly lighter, opening with a bouncing melody and chattering percussion. A huge bass sound opens things up, accented by needling synth and fueled by a classic prodding techno kick. To close, 'Use Me Up' bubbles with melodic tone and stuttering crackled samples. Subtly progressing to a simple beat and rumbling bass, distorted vocal arrangements haunt the mix as flighty pads howl in the distance.

Hrdvsion's second Wagon Repair release this year is an absolute epic. Combining his signature fervid IDM style with a patient developmental sensibility commonly associated with his brother Mathew, Canadian Nathan Jonson offers two new tracks as accomplished and mature as anything he has produced to date. Opener 'Love's Duel (The Seduction Business)' is a slowly approaching storm, weaving melodies from disparate melodic tones and waves of rhythmic synth. Stuttering percussive blasts and a phased bass pulse steady the voyage as static jolts of lightning synth battle for control of the mix. Purposeful and enterprising, this eleven minute sonic saga is a trip worth taking. On the flip, 'Melting Fire' is an industrious IDM production with a percussive line reminiscent of 'dirty south' hip hop's rattling hi-hat patterns. Stabbed intermittant synth lines interact with chimed metallic tones in a mechanised melodic drive.'Melting Fire (Inkwell Remix)' closes proceedings, with Canadian duo Inkwell (Danksoul Recordings) transforming the original into a bass heavy floor pleaser. Charged by piston like percussion and wispy melodic synth, the bulging bassline offers warm respite from the original's cold precision.

We are thrilled to announce Hrdvsion's third Wagon Repair release, the irrepressible 'Playing For Keeps' A native of Victoria, Canada, Nathan Jonson's obsession with morphing sounds and
musical hardware continues to be the main inspiration for his musical explorations. Taking influence from the unrestrained creativity of luminaries such as Squarepusher and Aphex Twin, Hrdvsion's disjointed compositions stand in stark contrast to the more fluid output of his brother, Mathew. Ever adventurous, Nathan has spent 10 years releasing on labels as diverse as Itiswhatitis, Subpop, Traum and Plak. Musical experimentation with a focus on destroying sounds through hardware and software is within Hrdvsion part of his life. Opener 'Playing For Keeps' is an exhilarating trip, centered around a swinging
mapped by crunching beats. Chopped and skewed, pulsing electro house melodies fight for attention with sampled cuts of big band, tiring to a slow and heavy halt before picking
themselves up and punching it out to close. 'Playing for Daddy's Girl' is an equally agitated reprise, introducing distorted 8-bit melodic tones and a throbbing deep bass into the fray as a sampled audience cheers on the ensuing battle for the listeners attention. On the B side, The Mole transforms 'Playing For Keeps' into a driving house number, with subtly escalating melodic synth growing into a deep and hypnotic dark electro sweat fest.

Growing up on the north Atlantic island of Iceland bestows one with an unusual and often intense relationship with light and colour: Summers come with endless days, Winters with scant sunlight yet increased sightings of the Aurora Borealis; the mysterious and awe-inspiring glow across the sky. Channelling these energies, Exos
comes to Tresor with his Green Light EP, a five-track collection of the sort of spectrally rich techno synonymous with the Northman’s 27-year career.
Across the EP, the five tracks fizz and pulsate driving ever forward, making the release’s title a three-way play on words referencing the continuous travelling of photons, the verdant warping of the Northern Lights, and the universal colour for Go, for forward propulsion. Smart wordplay can also be found in titles like Grátt Silfur, a term in Íslenska (literally “grey sliver”) which signifies a tension between two parties, further extending the colour metaphor and dark/light dichotomy found elsewhere.
The digital release comes with three extra tracks that continue the dynamic energy, pushed along by the same shifting, mutating force where the music often feels like voices calling out from the darkness or the shimmer of light as the sun rises across the horizon.
Green Light EP continues this year’s blazing return from an artist who, similar to his output, is never stagnant: ever changing form yet ever moving forward.

Toy Tonics ITALOMANIA Vol. 2 is a compilation dedicated to NEW ITALIAN DISCO. (Not Italo Disco.)
13 young contemporary Italian producers made new organic disco, indie dance, avant pop and house tracks with Italian vocals.
Everything on this compilation has been produced in 2023. Fresh dance music by Italian indie electronic star Myss Keta together with DJ Severino (of Horse Meat Disco) and newcomers Sam Ruffillo, Fimiani, Magou, Tommiboy, Daniel Monaco, Giovanni Damico. And new music by artists Stump Valley (from Dekmantel), Munk (Gomma records), Rodion (Slow Motion Records) and DJ legend Lele Sacchi,
The ITALOMANIA compilation was initiated by Toy Tonics boss Kapote. The idea is to show the status of Italian Disco of today. It’s like a „manifesto“!
Kapote invited the most relevant Italian producers to make new tracks with Italian vocals and show different styles of modern Italian disco, dance and house music.
with Italian vocals. All tracks compiled by Kapote aka Mathias Modica aka Munk. Italo-German producer, DJ, keyboarder and head of Toy Tonics and Gomma records.
Italian Disco is not Italo Disco.
While the last years the slightly trashy pop music of the 1980’s called Italo Disco (with English lyrics) had a big revival. But now also the attention for more quality and organic dance music with Italian language is rising. This compilation is about this Italian Disco,
It’s a fact that not just in Italy but also in France and Germany there are now artists singing in Italian or using Italian words and names - even if they are not Italian.
Let’s not forget: The world’s culture of party, dancing, showbizness and pop music would be unimaginable without the heritage and creativity that Italians contributed.
Italy is not just the country of good food, beautiful beaches and high fashion, but it’s also the original country of dance music. Since almost 3000 years, since the ancient roman times the Italians have been making (dance) music culture, creating popular culture and being the maestros in organizing parties.
Also the disco wave of the 1970ies and the Pop music of the 1980ies has been co-created by Italians (and Italo-americans in New York).
The ITALOMANIA artists & tracklist:
M¥SS KETA
The most famous artist on the compilation is singer M¥SS KETA. The Italian press calls her "the Italian Lady Gaga“. M¥SS KETA is an edgy performer that reached the top of the charts with indie pop songs, but is also well rooted in the Milan art, fashion and LGTB scene.
To create a song for Italomania she teamed up with DJ Severino. The Italian part of London’s Horse Meat Disco DJ collective. Probably the world leading queer DJ team. (M¥SS KETA recently was invited to perform Berghain in Berlin).
Sam Ruffillo
Sam Ruffilo has contributed a new (party) version of his song Mediterranea. A organic disco track with lyrics in Neapolitan dialect. Sam Ruffillo is an upcoming Italian DJ and producer and one of the lead artists of Toy Tonics (along with Coeo, Kapote and Cody Currie). He had a few underground hits combining leftfield disco and Lofi House with Italian vocals creating a new genre that is finding lot of fans right now. One of his songs (Chiamami Subito) made it into the rotation of big Italian radio station M20. On Instrgam you can see his DJ sets where hundreds of Italians sing his songs at Toy Tonics parties.
Munk
Toy Tonics head honcho Kapote reworked the Munk song ‚La Musica‘ for this compilation. Munk is the former producer name of Mathias Modica aka Kapote. The creative mind behind Toy Tonics and Gomma records. ‚La Musica‘ is an Italo house song that he originally released 2010 when he was doing his former label Gomma records. Now there is this new version of this catchy dance song with the Italian hookline that became almost iconic when first released.
It made sense to include a new version of this track on ITALOMANIA because its a blueprint of italian disco and sounds so fresh again now.
Giovanni Damico
The south Italian DJ, producer made „Tropica“. The song is a tribute to the music of the Italian discos of south Italy of the 1980ies. A Balearic session that can be great at a beach in the afternoon, but also for dancing in the early morning. Damico is part of the new Italian disco scene releasing his dance tracks on international labels like Lumberjacks in hell and White Rabbit records since 2013.
Kapote
His new song „Sono tropical“ is an ironic Latin pop song based on a classic salsa piano riff and a strong Latin soul bassline. It reminds the big tunes from the 1970ies New York Salsa Scene (Tito Puente, Willie Colon, Fania All Stars). The vocals performed by Kapote are a mix of Italian and Spanish. The girl’s voice is also performed by Kapote. But transferred into a female voice by an AI. All instruments played by Kapote who before starting to get into the DJ and label business used to to study jazz piano. Before starting Toy Tonics Kapote he released 3 albums under his former name Munk and produced records with big names from the electronic music scene like James Murphy of LCD Soundsystem, Peaches, The Rammellzee and three albums of Danish band WhoMadeWho. Mathias/ Kapote also worked with artists like Franz Ferdinand, The Rapture and Asia Argento.
Lele Sacchi
Lele Sacchi is an Italian DJ legend and host of Italy's most important DJ radio show on RAI national radio. He has been djing all around the world playing from Circoloco Ibiza to Avalon LA. He has Besides being on Italian national radio he has been doing shows on NTS Radio or guest on BBC Six. He produced for labels like Soul Clap, !K7, Internasjonal, Nervous, Snatch, Crosstown Rebels, Poker Flat and his own Stolen Goods imprint.
Sacchi teamed up with young vocalist Elasi, a new talent from Milano that is making waves in Italy for a few songs she released in a indie disco style. Their song is an interpretation of late 70’s cult slow disco pop classic ‘Malamore’ by the underdog Enzo Carella. A mix of slow house and playful pop with a slight touch of acid!
Tommiboy
Tommiboy made a nasty, disco rock song called Sfinge. Only 26 years old he is one of the most hyped up Italian disco diggers and collectors. Originally from Rimini, the capital of discos, he is the son of a father who was a regular dancer in Rimini’s clubs of the 1980is and fed his son with all things disco.
Tommiboy started to do parties and compilations under the name Disco Stupenda three years ago. By now he and his parties are a big thing in Italy and has fans all around the country. He also is DJ for fashion brands like Gucci and he is the guy who re-introduced 1980s stars like Pino D’Angio.
Fimiani aka BPlan
The DJ und producer from Napoli is part of the new, vibrant disco scene from Napoli. (NuGenea, Mystik Jungle, Manny Whodamanny )
His collabo with italian 1980ies crooner Angeleri called SessoSpaghetti is a remake of a song originally released in 1983, but never became famous when it came out. The drums on the song are played by Napoli legend Tullio De Piscopo and the guitar by Lucio Battisti guitar player Massimo Luca.
The new version is a ironic summer disco with sexy vocals and Italian fun rapping about beach life, beautiful girls and sex on the beach. Fimiani also does edits of rare italo disco under the name of BPlan
Daniel Monaco
Daniel Monaco is a multi-talented artist, producer, and bass player DJ, bandleader and producer from Napoli - but has been living for many years in Amsterdam where he hosted show on Red Light Radio released on Labels of the likes of Rush Hour and Bordello a Parigi. Is one of the key figures of the scene due to unique fusion of Italo Disco, Proto House, Obscure Disco, and a captivating tropical touch. His latest EPs came out on Slow Rush Hour records and Periodica Records contributed the song ‚Milly‘ for Italomania. Played with a 5 person band.
Stump Valley
The two DJs, producers and vinyl collector are experts in all things Italo Disco and Balearic music. Before joining Toy Tonics they released an album on Dekmantel records. One of the guys (Brain de Palma) is the favorite DJ of Peggy Gou. He is regularly opening the shows of Peggy as a warm up DJ and releases his solo records on Peggy's label Gudu records. For this compilation they made Non dire di no. An old school piano house track with catchy vocals in the finest tradition of the piano house style that Italians invented in the early 1990ies.

The Mole - Youandthekitten
Genre: House
Tracklist:
A1. Losing Track
A2. Climbers Pit (Feat. Joli B & Danuel Tate)
B1. Losing Track (Dave Aju Remix)
B2. Youandthekitten
Short Info:
New music by The Mole. High Dreams contains four tracks, three originals and one remix from Circus Company favourite Dave Aju. The Mole savours dreaming and welcomes the mystical landscapes of
the mind with High Dreams, a collection of uptempo dance pieces inhabited by ghosts and welcoming creatures from the deeps. This unpretentious collection cuts straight with the rhythms, and carries long
with the arrangements. Dancefloor sizzle. Subsonic rumble. Ghosts! Your body moving requisites lie within this simple plate of wax. Turn up your amps and bathe in it.
The Mole is known for his “hits” (Baby You’re The One, Hippy Speedball, In My Song, Lockdown Party) and his “work” with many Top labels (Perlon, Kompakt, Wagon Repair, Maybe Tomorrow, Ostgut Ton)
is played by many Top DJs. Only his third release with Circus Company (Little Sunshine, The River Widens), this Ep is a reminder that the Mole is still at it, and a warning. There’s a new album upcoming.
And it sounds nothing like this…
With his 19th release with the label since 2003, Dave Aju is one of the pillars of modern Circus Company. Aju amplifies Losing Track, adding percussion and fresh, modern programming, giving the remix a whole
new purpose while maintaining the erie cries, calling out, desperate - don’t leave me hang ’n … of the original. A certain go to for the Deep Heads.

TRACKLIST:
A1 Josh Wink feat. Ursula Rucker - Sixth Sense (Hardspace Mix)
B1 Aoki Takamasa - Ham (Hardspace Mix)
B2 DJ Yoav B. - Energize (Hardspace Mix)
C1 Huxley – Weapon 3 (Hardspace Mix)
D1 Tuttle & Chich – Funktion (Hardspace Mix)
D2 Mike Parker – Shakuhachi Two (Hardspace Mix)
INFO:
Arriving on transparent blue vinyl, the fourth installation of Figure’s Hardspace series brings six new re-interpretations of Len Faki’s favorites via his Hardspace alias.
Starting with a true classic, the gem that is Josh Wink’s Sixth Sense picks up on the original’s tight plastic groove and creates some serious low end rumble.
A less obvious choice, Aoki Takamasa’s minimalist dub from Japan, gets a complete makeover in the Hardspace edit, using driving percussion to morph the pensive blueprint into an upbeat peaktime slammer.
One of the most iconic basslines of the last decade, DJ Yoav B’s Energize is a standout on its own but paired with the relentless groove of the high-energy Hardspace remix it unlocks new levels of rave potential.
Huxley’s Weapon 3 was maybe one of the darkest tunes ever released on the otherwise house-centric catalogue of UK label Aus, which Len Faki already played back when it was first released. The Hardspace Mix merges a feeling explosive force with the originals sultry ambiance, catapulting the track back onto today’s dancefloors.
Colourful, dubby synth stabs are what keeps the momentum on peak time roller Funktion by French producer Tuttle, which in its Hardspace version packs even more heat, as Faki employs his signature claps and tunes up the original’s enervating siren sound, squeezing out every last drop of energy.
Originally released in the 90ies, Mike Parker’s Shakuhachi Two is as techno as it gets. Only now sounding even more powerful and dynamic, as the Harspace Mix keeps all of the original goodness while stacking additional propulsive percussion for a sweaty floor workout.

Fireground’s live sets brim with joy and Mediterranean warmth so, as we have now passed the vernal equinox in the Northern Hemisphere and are well on en route to leave the long, cold winter behind, what could be more fitting than a new release from the duo?
As with their three previous releases on Tresor (Dualism, Refreshing Part 1, and Dreams) for Love Letter Angela and Daniele have created a heady melange of styles of techno synonymous with the turn of the century with such outrageous elan and jubilation that they practically embody the musical term giocoso:
“We had the "summer" concept in mind from the beginning, this pushed us to create a message in our sound making it uplifting and engaging, capable of conveying a positive, romantic and warm vibe. In our productions we always give priority to the harmonic parts such as melodies, pads, piano and guitar riffs, the peculiarity of this EP is that all the tracks were born first from these elements, and only at the end the groove was crafted, not due to a difference in importance, rather to ensure that the rhythmic part paid as much respect as possible to the harmonic part.”
This decision to build upwards from the harmonics has paid dividends: the entrance of a string section provokes visions of a rapt club crowd cheering with exultation; a looped groove stimulates a connection to such gleeful nostalgia that is almost certain to be heard at many festivals in coming months; a blissful pad sweeps over a
track like the first rays of sun in the morning; a filtered synth rises to be met with a xylophone-like countermelody…every track has a moment where the music overflows with some form of happiness. Together the collection promises, and perhaps even delivers, a summer both ecstatic and joyful.

Short Info:
Long-time collaborators, longer-time best friends, lifelong analog appreciators; the German duo Iron Curtis & Johannes Albert join cosmic forces once again for another LP mission 'Moon II', a heartfelt voyage through the sounds, movements, styles and machines that created this music in the first place.
Think late 80s New York, early 90s Sheffield and the perennial sounds of Italo and Detroit, 'Moon II' is a lunar safari that celebrates the deepest foundations of house, techno and electronic soul while resolutely refusing to get nostalgic. Written and recorded during an intense two-and-a-half month session in Berlin last autumn, there's a consistency and tangible narrative running throughout as the pair play inspiration ping-pong over the course of 10 tracks.
A little Drexcyian glacial nod here, a hazy Boards Of Canada wink there. The Other People Place, Kerrier District, Environ Records, the Hacienda, Sub Club, Heaven 17, classic electro… All these ingredients are constantly bubbling in the mix for both Curtis and Albert (as individuals and even more so as a duo) and the end result is an album that works as a proper album should. Peaks, troughs, dreamy departures and all beautiful things in between.
Taking off where their debut collaborative album 'Industrie & Zärtlichkeit' (soon to be retitled 'Moon I') left us three years ago, the opening modem sounds on the intro track 'Canggu Laundry Club' dial us into a special sense of time and space.
It's a space where anything feels possible; Visual-inspired acid lines on 'Tiger Trek', lino-spinning body pops and windmills to the street sounds electro style of 'The Ultimate Seduction', the club-focused, Traxx-style Cutie Schamuthie collaboration 'Hurting', the melancholy plucks and struts of 'Feingold', the provocative, slinky, smoky finale piece 'Nektar'… The list of intergenerational and cross-genre landmarks on this adventurous body of work go and on, each track complementing the last as they fuse to create a bigger collective picture. A picture that's charmed together through the consistent use of key classic studio machines.
They call it Introverted Electronic Body Music, we call it warm, free-spirited and ultimately timeless. Perfect for your sets, your afterhours or your headphones alike; it's time to let Iron Curtis and Johannes Albert take you to the Moon and back… Once again.
