Curated and compiled by Compost artist Fred und Luna. As on Vol. 1 and 2, the collage on the cover was designed exclusively by the fantastic artist Norika Nienstedt from the Kraut metropolis of Düsseldorf.

Rainer Buchmüller aka Fred und Luna sadly passed away in January 2024 after a long illness. He was a kind-hearted person, gifted artist, friend and companion. We mourn him deeply. A few days before his death, Rainer Buchmüller had sent us the track listing for Vol. 3 (and already ideas for Vol. 4), with the request to publish this posthumously, he would be very happy if his fans and all those who will be would receive a “sign of life” from him. It's not at all easy or basically impossible to describe the term “Kraut” stylistically. Nevertheless, Compost Records and Fred und Luna embark on a journey through time to discover the different elements of German electronic music from the 1970s and 1980s and their impact on the more recent German and global music scene.
After the great success of Volumes 1 and 2, Vol. 3 follows on stylistically from its predecessor and - as this is one of the basic ideas of the series - gradually expands the musical spectrum with new krauty elements.

Trustworthy sequal of Compost’s classic and mega-selling series. After 20 years a new Glücklich ! Rainer Trüby fished deep in Brazilian-, Latin tinged music and makes us more than glücklich.

It only took a little over 20 years since the last installment but a classic and much-loved compilation series is "de volta" in a very big way. And a two-decade break means that when you come back, you'd better come back strong, but of course this is Rainer Truby we're talking about here and he's got a serious bag of Brazilian and Brazilian-flavored goodies for all good boys and girls! Some of them were buried on obscure CDs ignored by vinyl collectors, several have escaped being compiled until now and all of them will make your summers very pleasant and happy indeed. Kenny Dixon Jr. acuminates it deep and groovy, well, it’s his holy trademark sound. Potatohead People from Vancouver have been championed by Soulection, Nightmares on Wax, Questlove, Big Boi a.o. and have releases on Jellyfish Recordings, or NY label Bastard Jazz. The duo has worked with artists such as Moka Only, Kaytranada, Pomo, Phife Dawg a.o.

On top Moodorama’s remixes are trippy dubby jams. Moodorama have a long recording history, starting in the 90s on Stereo Deluxe, but even before that Martin Sennebogen was the DJ and co-producer of Knowtoryus, the legendary first hip hop outfit on Compost.

Inkswel & Colonel Red started out writing together more than decade ago & over the time have developed quite a unique sound when recording together,..a chemistry that blends music melody & lyric into every verse chorus & hook. So when Inkswel approached Colonel Red to create the 'Holders of the Sun' album, Redz response was to move his hectic schedule around & start immediately. Inkswel dropped the beats Colonel Red dropped the vocals & some fine musical tuning & 'Holders Of The Sun' Vol1 was born….while they promise a Vol. 2.

Killertune. Massive. Already played by Solomun (in every of his recent DJ sets) Trikk, Rancido, Musumeci, Lehar a.o. - The first twelve inch to prelude Mr Raoul K's album 'African Paradigm'. The a-side kicks off with a track, darker and gloomier than usual. Whirling pads and driving beats take twists and turns while diggin’ deep into the dark. After a while Sona Diabate's vocals kick in and 'Tamale' takes off. Her powerful delivery provides some light in the shadows and the track begins to swing between 'putting you in a trance' and 'raise your hands in the air'. Elegance and energy. On the flipside Kaito remixes 'African Paradigm' into twelve minutes of floating bliss. Very moderate drums lead to a yet irresistable groove. Mr Raoul K's trademark organic sounds and traditional Ivorian instruments deliver glistening soundscapes - emblazed with mysterious vocals. Like dancing and moving through meadows watching flowers and butterflies moving around... like your feet stopped touching the ground.

Siren is Darshan Jesrani (Metro Area, Startree) and Dennis Kane (Disques Sinthomme, Ghost Town). Siren began recording in earnest during the winter of 2013, but has beginnings which date farther back, to their mutual residencies at NYC's storied night-spot APT, and to the parties they produced together in APT's wake. Events with names like Camille 3000, Adult Section and Strobe Lodge were lovingly presented, with bold, romantic graphics and a strong, specific statement that refinement and transgression can, and should always hang together. Their third single, entitled "Paradise," follows up last autumn's sweeping and euphoric "A/Way" with Mr. Reed by stripping itself down and baring its elements in a slowly-unfolding workout, which is as haunting as it is thumping and propulsive. "Paradise" is lush but also sinewy and spare, hinting at the compositional economy of that liminal mid-80s period where R&B and the developing sound of club music met. Mark Dann's slide-y, honeyed, slightly-psychedelic bassline spars with a stone-cold guitar riff and synths which soar and declare, but somehow maintain their delicacy. Downtown-NY icon Felice Rosser effortlessly delivers a powerful-but-breathy and emotionally-evocative vocal which seduces the dancer and makes clear just which side of the existential fence Siren transmits from. "Paradise" is backed with an equally-compelling, late-night, dark and mechanical techno dub by Gavin Russom (Black Meteoric Star, DFA), and the digital release of the single includes a lean, futuristic, drum-machine led 5AM NY-vibe re-interpretation by Siren.

The indefatigable Mr. K returns with another expertly curated double-header that shines a deserving light on two dancefloor staples from different corners of disco history. On the A-side, Shades Of Love's 'Body To Body' gets the treatment it deserves by extending the seductive groove that made it a Paradise Garage favourite and a standout of the early-80s boogie era. Now the OG pleasures burn even longer. Flip it over and Crown Heights Affair's 'Dreaming a Dream' is allowed to fully bloom with its euphoric keys, soaring brass and relentless rhythm given room to breathe and really make their mark. 'To The Disco ’77' 2013 original version for the A-side and the 2017 live rework finds its
way to the B-side, both freshly remastered by the amazing and sought after Andreas
Kauffelt. 'To The Disco ’77', opens with a clean, electro-styled beat that has a restrained
power and a controlled tension that gradually blooms as the keys start to lift the mood into
something lighter. When the iconic 'to the disco' vocal sample cuts through, it’s like a wink
from the past, threading disco’s golden exuberance through the disciplined swing of
classic house. The track is a seamless blend of Funk, Disco, House and Electro with each

Universal Love: 10 Years of Love Injection is a triple LP collection of genre crossing, open-eared, open-minded tracks which celebrate not only the ten year existence of Love Injection as a 'zine, record label and radio show but also the New York parties that acted as the inspiration and raison d'être for Love Injection's birth and evolution. Indeed it was at Mancuso's iconic parties at The Loft where Love Injection founders and compilers of this collection, Barbie Bertisch and Paul Raffaele, first came up with Love Injection as the name for their project, literally whilst they were dancing to the NYC classic by Trussel. Furthermore it was the eclectic ethos of The Loft that inspired their own Universal Love parties. It was these events that funded the monthly, printed 'Zine and it is this 'Zine which included interviews and features with and on diverse musical contributors as musclecars, Patti Kane, Jaimie Branch, Isiah Collier, Kamasi Washington and major contributors to the NYC club scenes from the wider arts. This diversity and inclusion that reflects the city of New York is also reflected in the 14 tracks collated for Universal Love: 10 Years of Love Injection, including hidden producers Joe Claussell, John Morales and Maurice Fulton. It is clear from its psychedelic blues opening track , its electro interpretation of a Bossa Nova classic, fusions of Soul and Rumba, a Japanese techno reimagining of a Chicago House classic and a track order that could only have been realised by people who understand how a DJ set is built that this compilation is a must have for DJs, dancers and free thinking music lovers alike. Universal Love: 10 Years of Love Injection is more than a celebration of an anniversary; it is an encapsulation of how a vibrant scene is created and built through the curation and selection of the myriad musical options, selectors, music makers and club goers who all contribute. This really is an amazing compilation.
