Info:
With Dispersion, Loom & Thread return to the volatile architecture of the expanded piano trio - and quietly fracture it from within.
Daniel Klein (drums), Tobias Fröhlich (double bass) and Tom Schneider (keys, sampler) remain the sole agents on stage and in the final recording. The triangle holds. And yet, the field has expanded. For their second studio album, the trio fed their improvisations with the timbral signatures of guest saxophone and vibraphone players - not just as additional voices to be featured, but also as material to be absorbed, atomized and redistributed. The result is not augmentation but thorough refraction.
Where the debut album explored the recursive labyrinth of Schneider's live sampling of his own piano, Dispersion introduces an external grain into the feedback system. Breath and metal. Reed turbulence and struck resonance. The trio sampled extended improvisations by saxophone and vibes players: Victor Fox, Asger Nissen, Volker Heuken, and L&T's own Daniel Klein; dissected their attacks, overtones and decay curves, and integrated these fragments into the trio's internal circuitry. What emerges is a play of presences without bodies - instrumental ghosts circulating through the dense weave of rhythm and keys.
At first, one might hear the familiar relational tension: Klein's polyrhythmic elasticity interlocking with Fröhlich's tensile double bass figurations, Schneider poised at the hinge between tonal field and percussive impulse. But soon, the surface splinters - again. A vibraphone shimmer appears, yet no mallets are visible. A reed multiphonic surges through the texture, bending space between bass and drums. These events are neither quotations nor overlays; they are redistributed energies, dispersed across the trio's grammar. A digital multidimensional interplay ensues.
If the first album unfolded as a two-tiered game - live phrase and sampled reflection - Dispersion adds a further axis. The sampled materials from other improvisers are stripped of their erstwhile two-way interaction and reconstituted as malleable particles. Signifier detached from origin, resonance detached from gesture. The trio navigates a constantly shifting topology in which acoustic memory and electronic manipulation are indistinguishable.
Crucially, the album never abandons the physical urgency of three musicians reacting in real time. The additional timbral layers do not thicken the texture into opacity; rather, they introduce stark points and arrows of diffraction. Density opens into prismatic clarity. Lines splinter and regroup. What seems like a quartet or quintet collapses back into three bodies negotiating an expanded field.
Dispersion is not about addition but about distribution - of agency, of timbre, of temporal perspective. It is an album in which the trio setting becomes a site of multiplicity without surrendering its immediacy. A dissolution not only of the divide between present experience and memory, but between inside and outside, self and other.
Three musicians. Countless vectors. A music that fractures in order to cohere.

info text:
Loom & Thread appear to present a take on this most classical of springboards of improvised music:
the piano trio. Indeed, Daniel Klein on drums and Tobias Fröhlich on double bass forge that highly
engaging, interlocking framework, set in complex juxtaposition to what emanates from the corner of
Tom Schneider on keys. This would be a superbly satisfying triangle of planar relational wonder on its
own. Imaginative re-adaptation of unexpected shifts, re-grouped into coherent streams of musical
thought. Superb clarity despite the pressurised density of form, the emergence of intricate order from
spontaneous play.
And yet this would be an utterly incomplete description. Because a dozen directions and dimensions
and interdependent layers open like trap doors all around, shattering any first impression of a familiar
context within just a few seconds of listening. What appears to be piano improvisation in the post-bop
tradition soon exhibits abrupt disruptions, impossible shifts, improbable repetitions, movements in
frequency and dynamics beyond the physical capabilities of a fixed-pitch instrument deemed so
familiar.
How so? Tom Schneider samples his own playing and continuously feeds it back into the ongoing
collective stream of the trio. Assigning starting points to the sampled phrases, these are then treated
as independent musical events just like the individual tones they contain: a second order of access is
created. Signifier and signified in the hands of the same musician, thus driving a two-pronged plane of
immanence.
This meta-improvisation is thrown at the other two players who now find themselves embroiled in
some kind of three dimensional chess game: fending off simulacra and responding to both,
idiosyncratic primary phrases of tones and a vibrant multitude of sampled variants. Reflexivity: the
piano/sampler continuum with its multi-layered access points to improvisational mapping is then
attacking and soothing and further teasing the appropriately angular rhythm section. A wondrous
dissolution of the divide between experiencing now and accessing memory.

CD3: 3-1. Computer State, 3-2. Wear and Tear II, 3-3. Chamber of Atonement, 3-4. Angry Skies
Info:
This triple disc release documents Stefan Goldmann's earliest electroacoustic works. These clear-cut algorithmic compositions, mostly created between 1999 and 2001, were built entirely with the TC Fireworx processor's internal synthesizer and effects. Generated and recorded anew for this release with the original programs, a
central component of Stefan Goldmann's sound aesthetic is revisited and becomes available in pure form for the first time. His proprietary Fireworx algorithms feature prominently in a multitude of tracks and long-form works, including Phraselab (2005), De-Gauss (2015), Voices of the Dead (2008) and Live at Honen-In Temple
(2012).
The automated synthesis and effects chains utilize a few layered basic functions to drive kaleidoscopic sound environments which are simultaneously stable while constantly changing: Electric rivers of sound flowing continuously through the same bed, while never repeating themselves quite exactly.

Track list vinyl:
A1. Gips, A2. Baka, A3. Trampa
B1. In and Out, B2. Okka, B3. Duman, B4. Trese
Info:
Impérieux (aka Alper Durmush) is a beatmaker extraordinaire hailing from Kircaali / Kardjali: since antiquity a hub of mythical music, located at the crossroads of Bulgaria, Turkey and Greece.
After conquering the hearts and feet of the scene with his stunning debut album Rezil and the follow-up Fena EP, Impérieux caps off his stellar year with a seven track mini album on Macro. Its effortlessly mesmerizing tracks consolidate the outlines of
forward-leaning club music.
Experimentation is a well-established facet of Impérieux’ approach to the adventurous techno (left)field, but the In and Out EP brings to the table his most condensed dance floor material so far. Holistically captivating hooks, bass lines and rolling rhythms: The next step after several years of exploration and refinement.
Unpredictability, bound together by a consistent, modernist glint. From the raw jacking of Gips to the warm euphoria of Baka, from the darbuka frenzy of Duman to the cutting friction of Trese – a triumph.

7. Études Spectrales III
Info:
Stefan Goldmann’s 'Input' translates electronic music into performance formats for human players of acoustic instruments. The standard remix process is thus inverted, by providing the electronics first. Then composers backwards-engineer what they hear into scores for ensemble. The original, synthesized version isn’t available for the audience: Its hidden shape can only be guessed at through its acoustic translations.
By collaborating with multiple composers, the process of direct auditory comparison allows for multidimensional insights. It reveals common traits in unlikely places and highlights differences
between individual approaches. Ambiguities of sound/score relations, emergent parallelisms and unexpected congruencies become part of the sensory and cognitive experience.
The three versions in this release – by Daniel Chernov, Adrian Pavlov and Lukas Tobiassen – were recorded at Sofia's 180 Degrees Festival and performed by the stellar group of musicians from
Bulgaria, France and Switzerland which came together in Ensemble 180°. The live recordings were further processed by Stefan Goldmann and now represent a stunning sonic hall of mirrors, with
multiple vectors of transformation embedded in this dialogue.

Info:
"Live at Borusan" follows in the tradition of Stefan Goldmann's recordings of concerts at the Philharmonie Berlin and the Honen-in Temple in Kyoto, with a music program that is just as tailored to the location and its characteristics as his other site-specific formats, such as for the LACMA in Los
Angeles or the CCK of Buenos Aires.
The Borusan Music House is located in the densely built-up Pera district, the old Christian quarter of Istanbul. It is a 19th century brownstone that has been carefully converted into a minimalist, multistorey exhibition and concert venue. While Goldmann was a fellow at the Tarabya Cultural Academy
for an extended summer in 2023, the idea for this concert was born and scheduled to be part of the Noise Istanbul festival organized by Borusan in November 2024.
The palimpsest-like character of the city with its multiple cultural layers is reflected in the structure of this concert and expressed in the language of electroacoustic composition. Accordingly, what should be a collision-ridden, restlessly advancing sequence through a multitude of references to earlier works and projects such as Veiki, Alluvium, Sfera and Furnace, instead leads us on a surprisingly relatable sonic arc.

Track list CD:
1. Fo Pio, 2. Objectify, 3. Deliro, 4. Gider, 5. Sword Fight, 6. Rezil, 7. Imana, 8. Almost Had It, 9. Phase Rotation, 10. Young
Info:
Impérieux (aka Alper Durmush) is a beatmaker extraordinaire hailing from Kircaali / Kardjali: since antiquity a hub of mythical music, located at the crossroads of Bulgaria, Turkey and Greece.
Rezil is his stunning debut album, built on the ground cleared by his head-turning earlier releases for KiNK's Sofia Records and DJ Koze's Pampa. Its effortlessly mesmerizing 10 tracks consolidate the outlines of forward-leaning club music.
Experimentation is a well-established facet of Impérieux’ approach to the adventurous techno (left)field, but more than ever on Rezil he seizes the opportunity
to thrill with holistically captivating hooks, bass lines and rolling rhythms: A culmination of several years of exploration and refinement. Unpredictability lies at the heart of all this music, bound together by a consistent modernist glint.
From the warped wobble of Sword Fight to the unhinged dairé excess of Imana, from the drunken Casio bliss of Rezil to the hopeful euphoria of Young: a triumph.

John McLaughlin - Marbles (Stefan Goldmann Version)
Track list 12“:
A: Marbles
B: Marbles (Stefan Goldmann Version)
Info:
Marbles is the legendary 1970 proto punk / dance classic from John McLaughlin’s US debut album 'De?otion', recorded at the time in which he played on Miles Davis' Bitches Brew and taped the Record Plant session with Jimi Hendrix.
Marbles didn't just deliver jazz rock's most danceable 4/4 beat, played by Band of Gypsies / Electric Flag drummer Buddy Miles. It is also centered with a once-in-ageneration bass line performed by Billy Rich. Larry Young's otherworldly Hammond textures predate a lot of what synthesizers were about to do much later, and the blowtorch energy emanating from John McLaughlin's cranked amp went beyond what most would had dared during the defining era of heavy rock guitar. An apex achievement at the intersection of jazz rock, guitar rock and dance music without parallel, before or since.
Background: John McLaughlin arrived in New York in 1969 to join Tony Williams' new group Lifetime which also featured Larry Young and eventually Jack Bruce (of Cream). On the second day in town he found himself in the studio with Miles Davis, recording 'In a Silent Way.' His playing would also take center stage in Bitches Brew, Jack Johnson, On The Corner and several other Davis key works of his much beloved first electric era. In between a busy schedule with Lifetime and Davis, McLaughlin also recorded two solo albums in 1970, 'De?otion' with an all-electric group and ‚'My Goa|’s B?y?nd' as its acoustic counterpart. By the time he formed his group Mahavishnu Orchestra in 1972, John McLaughlin was firmly established as the most important practitioner of his instrument of his generation within and well beyond the emerging jazz rock / fusion genre, and he has continued to evolve and surprise until today.
Here, a thorough remaster is supplemented by a new and throbbing techno version by Stefan Goldmann.

Info:
Layered asymmetry: With Alluvium, Stefan Goldmann explores new structural paths for machine
rhythm in irregular metres. Throughout the album, different non-binary patterns run simultaneously,
interlocking into twelve offerings of jagged polyrhythmic magic. Such a framework may juxtapose 11
on one axis, against 7 on another and 5 on a third – building stunningly iridescent edifices of
multidimensional time.
This is the third album in a series of "first principles" research of metric asymmetry. Veiki (2019) laid
the foundation for "real broken beat". Then, Vector Rituals (2022) explored the bending of grids in
order to yield idiosyncratic forms of organising time. Alluvium takes these two approaches and
expands them beyond their initial reach: Irregular patterns moving along parallel timelines within one
unifying grid.

Info:
Acustica: For this acoustic sources-only mix, Stefan Goldmann cut up a vast library of recorded
interpretations of 20th century avant-garde compositions. Layered segments of individual instrumental
and chamber performances form emergent orchestral opulence – just to spill over into actual
orchestral segments. Goldmann has tackled acoustic archives before with his edit of multiple
recordings of Igor Stravinsky's 'Le Sacre du Printemps'. However, this mix traverses the disparities
and convergences of seven decades of score-based music with impressively results. A meta-level
polystylistic work that explores vast potentials of integration, interaction and interference. An antidote
to the prevailing practice of sounding compositions in scattered, sterile isolation. Here, opposing
concepts of music are channeled into one continuous flow, with a coherent DJ performance as the
vehicle.

Info:
Less is more – the motto applies to Luxembourg's most intriguing newcomer Arthur Clees, whose
approach is minimalist, rich, hypnotic. Clees is a young prodigy drummer / percussionist / vocalist with
a multitude of performances and sessions under his belt. The 21-year-old musician manages to inspire
very different people with his tracks. No Wonder: There's both depth and a tremendous upward pull at
the same time.
In his debut album, "Stay, Temporary Home" influences from techno to electronica to the avant-garde
are paired with a distinctive feeling for melodies and a signature treatment of percussion. Soul and
R&B songs often appear as sonically distant yet emotionally close mirages. In addition, slightly altered
vocals, hearty yet reductionist beats and a detuned piano reminiscent of your favourite aunt's Sunday
cookies come in – a mixture that an incredible number of people can agree on at the moment.

Info:
Insight Piano: Within just a few years Tom Schneider moved the scope of the sampler as an
instrument into entirely unexpected zones of expression. On keyboards with pioneering cut-up pop
band KUF he developed a key-triggered vocal style that features no singers on stage. With trio Loom
& Thread he devised a new wave of digital improv where the sampler amplified the piano and
engaged the acoustic musicians in some sort of multidimensional musical chess.
'Isotopes' is Schneider's first solo album and witnesses him being an astonishingly sensitive and
imaginative pianist. The album's material was developed and recorded in an intimate session at Bauer
Studios of Ludwigsburg – a site laden with the history of some of the most significant recordings of
contemporary jazz. Yet things don't stop at bringing just another piano solo effort.
Schneider's approaches to the instrument, which range from tender hesitance to eruptive, clustered
attacks, merely set the starting point. These utterances are sampled and mirrored back, ultimately
rendering a unified performance which combines the depth of intricately executed composition with the
urgent immediacy of free improvisation.
Over the past decade we have witnessed a resurgence of apparently opposed trends: repetitive,
minimalistic sensitivity and dashing, complex virtuosity. The linear thinking that defines these
approaches as polar opposites turns out to be entirely useless when facing 'Isotopes.' Both, the
uninhibited speed of granular clouds of tones and the dense texture of multiple layered phrases fired
off all at once, require a complete reconceptualisation of the meaning of complexity in music. Yet
Schneider offers less of a tongue in cheek critique of the pretense usually inherent in virtuosic display
– instead, the playing field is being thoroughly leveled: Now, and really for the first time, a singular
tone potentially carries exactly as much weight as the peaks of physiological sophistication.
This is not at all what the axe-wielding avant-gardes of the past were after. What we are witnessing
here is a thorough de-ideologisation of the instrument: Neither traditions need to be shattered nor
innovation kept at the gates. In a world of zero-sum thinking (‘if you get to eat I must go hungry’), here
we find an integrative approach that shows that we can indeed lift up without simultaneously pulling
down.

release info:
Death Ambient: Lucaslavia operates on the outer rings of metal, melting its constituent elements into
vicious torrents of fury. 'Furnace' resembles a field recording from the sixth circle of hell. Despite its
deceptively calm initial form, ancient hatreds seem to rage in violent currents just below the leaden
surface. Disembodied voices range from whispered malediction to screams of utmost anger, stretched
into purgatorial eternities. Gargantuan sonic fortification walls composed of drums, ripping sheets of
distorted guitar, hissing residue of steel and stone blasted apart build threatening levels of intensity.
The only deceptive respite comes from what appears to be the faint mechanical creaking emanating
from the inexorable and towering installations found in the engine rooms of boundless pain.
about Stefan Goldmann:
Lucaslavia was written and produced by Stefan Goldmann and mastered by Rashad Becker.
Stefan Goldmann has performed electronic music in 45 countries across six continents, with formats
ranging from DJ sets to a four-hour opera with ensemble and a room-spanning installation. He has
developed special formats for Berghain in Berlin, LACMA in Los Angeles and Kyoto's Honen-in
Temple and is currently artistic director of the Berlin Philharmonic's Strom Festival.

STEFAN GOLDMANN - In Aggregate
2
STEFAN GOLDMANN - Carob
Tracklist:
A. In Aggregate
B. Carob
about:
One of techno's most joyous experimentators delivers two intriguing uptempo tracks. Instead of hitting
hard and heavy 'In Aggregate' and 'Carob' float delicately, with explosive detail blooming freely and
high above what feels rather like a bass-ladden undercurrent than a persistent kick drum foundation.
Both tracks expand on Stefan Goldmann's extensive polyrhythmic research and integrate tonal and
metric functions within the same units of sound. Somewhat radically, the central sound of 'Carob' is all
in one: beat, bassline and single-note melody. By contrast, 'In Aggregate' unfolds lush layers of
exuberant percussion, countered by rounded drops of bass and an occasional vocal snippet
ricocheting off of claustrophobia-inducing walls of glass.
As future-forward as they are organic, these offerings come with appropriately idiosyncratic artwork by
Jorinde Voigt. Printed on inside-out heavy paper cover + a printed inner sleeve.

Info:
KUF create emotion-laden dialogues across layers of time and dimensions of sound. With three
albums the Berlin trio pioneered an astonishing inversion of the typical electronic band set up, by
pairing a plethora of disembodied, sampled voices with acoustic real-time interaction on bass, drums
and keys.
'Yield', their fourth album, presents a shift in focus. Less weight on the vocal core – lots of new
integrations of sampling, synthesis and band action in different constellations. This diversification of
sources pulls the conceptual stops out and yields a dazzling array of magical instrumentalism. Bold.
Catchy. Flourishing.
From 'Gold' to 'Universe', KUF solidified an irresistible marriage of android vocal cords and highly
energetic beats. Their third album 'Re:Re:Re' applied the concept to remix/cover version hybrids of
classics from Macro's stellar back catalog, tackling originals by the likes of rRoxymore, KiNK, Patrick
Cowley, Santiago Salazar and Stefan Goldmann. With proof that the concept could be applied with
supremely gratifying results to such diverse contexts, time was ripe to go back to the drawing board
and reimagine the perimeter.
Now 'Yield' breathes the freedom of playful reassembly of the main ingredients. A sampler's cut-up
capabilities triggered by frisky fingers. Persistent bass. Adamant drums. Rough soul, intertwined by
improvised outbursts and shaped with the aesthetics of raw MPC-based chunky techno. Twelve slices
of hyper-integrated realtime magic.

Tracklist:
A1. Nayba
A2. Oyotung
A3. Lorino
A4. Yukagir
B1. Tiksi
B2. Ayon
B3. Valkumey
The Album:
Proprietary rhythm: Vector Rituals sees techno polymath Stefan Goldmann constructing polymetric rites of percussion. Synthesized from the ground up, timbral characteristics, metric properties, dynamic
expression and microrhythmic phrasing are shaped by the interactions of layered control voltage functions. The result is an assembly of abstract dances ranging from the intricate to the powerful.
Near-humanoid behaviour emerges from liquid patterns, laid out and brought to life by the freewheeling encounter of modular waveforms and snappy envelopes. Sounds evoke metallic textures
– ringing, scraping – and group into virtual shapes from tiny spikes to vast surfaces.
Some of the parametric relationships employed are as loose as to imply chance drifts. Others lock in with strict regularity as found in the 13 vs. 17 polymeter pattern of opening track 'Nayba'. By contrast,
in the strictly repetitive yet highly asymmetrical sequence of 'Yukagir' each metric step has its own uniquely irregular duration. The center piece of this collection is 'Ayon' with multiple autonomous and
highly agile timelines. Its constituent layers break away in radial fashion and fall back together at widely spaced points of congregation.
All compositions herein present powerful proof of the unlimited capacity of electronic music to yield new principles of organisation and to solidify their expression into clear-cut gestalt.
The Record:
Vector Rituals comes on 180g vinyl with artwork by highly acclaimed visual artist Jorinde Voigt, printed onto the inside-out cover sleeve and continued on the inner jacket.

STEFAN GOLDMANN - Geared
Format: 7”
Tracklist:
E. Singing Wire
F. Geared
About:
This is the fnal chapter in a series of three 7" records which see Stefan Goldmann probing the upper
temporal reaches of techno. Clocking in at 150 bpm, these tracks are bold and blazing signals for a
collective return to highly energised club experiences. 'Singing Wire' is playfully swinging and feels
surprisingly natural and decelerated for what it is – while taking you decisively and rapidly to its farend destination. 'Geared' is raw voltage with all the sparks fying. More bouncy than harsh, these
tracks show impressively how diferent tempos allow for their own variety of joyful expression.
Beautifully packaged, all three 7"es come in a thick matte-black outer sleeve with front side cut outs
and refective-lacquer details, with individual colour-coded inner sleeves. Comes with download card.

Info Text:
Giacinto Scelsi (1905-1988) was an Italian composer and rather unusual pioneer of electronic music.
His works are neither based on traditional techniques nor do they resemble concepts of the 'new
music' avant-garde. He recorded improvisations on the ondiola (an early electronic instrument) to
magnetic tape, often in multiple layers. These recordings were then transcribed into scores by his
assistants – constituting the first attempt at sounding electronic music through acoustic instruments
and their players instead of loudspeakers.
SFERA is a dialogue between Jeremias Schwarzer's performances of some of Scelsi's most focused
and striking pieces for solo instruments and new electronic works by Stefan Goldmann. The two
groups of works exhibit polar opposition and unusual metaphorical proximity at the same time.
Goldmann's multi-faceted music exhibits shape-shifting capabilities as liquid as Scelsi's pieces for
ensembles or orchestra (such as Anahit or Uaxuctum). However, they make full use of the morphing
capabilities of contemporary synthesis, constructing multidimensional movements across a vast
parametric space.
Jeremias Schwarzer adapted most of Scelsi's works in this album for different kinds of recorder for the
first time. They form a baseline for Stefan Goldmann's overflowing electronics, which seem to grow out
of and fold back into it as if breathing. Thus a conceptual full circle is formed whose two tangents are
mirroring each other.

Format: 7”
Tracklist:
C. Danke Dingo
D. Iron Hive
About:
This is the second instalment in a series of three 7" records which see Stefan Goldmann probing the
upper temporal reaches of techno. Clocking in at 150 bpm, these tracks are bold and blazing signals
for a collective return to highly energised club experiences. 'Danke Dingo' pierces through a
stroboscopic grid of chords – 'Iron Hive' is one assertive rhythmic manifestation of menacingly
metallic swarms. More bouncy than harsh, these tracks show impressively how different tempos allow
for their own variety of joyful expression.
Beautifully packaged, all three 7"es come in a thick matte-black outer sleeve with front side cut outs

Transcendental Amor Organization - 808 Delirium
Vinyl Only!
TAO (Trascendental Amor Organization) appears with a five-track EP for Modern Obscure Music's Trip-Vapor-Club Focus Series, released as a vinyl-only edition. The record aligns with the series' ongoing interest in club music as an experimental framework, following releases by Pedro Vian and Actress.
Drawing from techno and electro without committing to their functional codes, the EP explores rhythm as texture and acidic repetition as inquiry. Pulses are skeletal, surfaces are unstable, and melodic fragments emerge only to dissolve back into noise and space. The tracks suggest movement without instruction, privileging sensation over utility.
Minimal in format yet dense in implication, the EP positions the dancefloor as a speculative zone-sound designed as much for close listening as for physical immersion.

A1 Serendipity
A2 The death of capitalism
B1 U are a stone
B2 Black over marine
B3 808 Delirium

Info
WRWTFWW Records is very happy to announce the release of Nighthawks, the new collaborative album from composer Azumi Okamura and musician / sound designer Andrea Esperti, available on limited edition LP (300 copies worldwide!) cut at 45rpm, and housed in a heavyweight sleeve with inside-out print.
A sublime convergence of Japanese piano poetry and Swiss sonic craftsmanship, Nighthawks brings together Azumi Okamura's intimate, emotionally resonant compositions with Andrea Esperti's refined approach to sound design. Esperti is known for his work alongside ambient legend Takashi Kokubo, and here he extends that sensibility into an intimate and immersive space.
Echoes of dreams from an imaginary world drift through the album: forgotten memories rising gently, only to fade again. The music unfolds like a series of inner scenes - reflective, rich with atmosphere - where minimal piano motifs meet organic textures and subtle electronic detail.
Rooted in the emotional solitude of Edward Hopper's urban landscapes, Nighthawks balances stillness and warmth. Gentle, simple melodies glow softly, wrapped in environmental music that evokes autumn air and walks by the beach.
Resisting excess and spectacle, the record embraces poetic minimalism and emotional clarity. Each piece feels suspended in time, offering quiet moments that linger long after the sound has faded...a drifting, cinematic journey shaped by sensitivity and restraint.
Points of interest
- For fans of classical music, poetic minimalism, ambient, environmental music, soundtracks, Joe Hisaishi, Satoshi Ashikawa, Hiroshi Yoshimura, Satsuki Shibano, Ryuichi Sakamoto, Brian Eno, gentle human warmth, memories.
- A unique collaboration between Japanese composer Azumi Okamura and Swiss sound designer Andrea Esperti (known for his work with Takashi Kokubo).
- Limited vinyl edition of 300 copies, 45rpm cut, housed in a heavyweight sleeve with inside-out print.

Juan Atkins and Moritz von Oswald – the two indispensable protagonists of the Electric Garden – plug back into the wilderness.
‘Transport’ – the full length effort brings together a set of studio-refined sequences aimed at colonizing some of the dark energy that
pulsates through those areas that are thoroughly electrified, even if not ‘on the grid’.
The Detroit-Berlin axis triangulated to a third point which, like the atomic particle that lives in two places at once, flickers between a
form of techno-charged ambience and a futuristic club-jazz which cannot be broken down into constitutive parts.
Borderland remains caught in a state of enraptured stillness, invisibly moving between every imagined future for electronic sound
making.
The result: a font from which springs serene and exhilarating musical ideas that vibrate with refined energy for sixty seconds in every

A1. Sgadi Li Mi
A2. Return To Nowhere
B1. Ensemble
B2. What's In The Past
Charlotte de Witte? marks the homecoming to her own imprint ?KNTXT? with her brand new EP ‘?Return to Nowhere?’. The captivating record exists out of four long-awaited tracks called ‘Return to Nowhere, ‘Ensemble’, ‘Sgadi Li Mi’ and ‘What’s In The Past’.
Further exploring her sonic realm, the record features techno sound reminiscent of her ‘Selected’ EP, but switches out the acid stabs for haunting hymns. The result is a gripping dismal soundtrack that feels desolate yet hopeful. With this spellbinding EP which combines her iconic hard-punching techno with mesmerizing chants effortlessly, Charlotte proves once again why she remains at the forefront of the industry.
The release of ‘?Return to Nowhere?’ fits perfectly in these uncertain times. ?Charlotte? says: “I made the EP before the current COVID-19 crisis. After being inspired by recordings of age-old traditional chants. So, I never intended it to be a “Corona record”. However, it did grow on me during this period of isolation.”

NOTON is pleased to announce the release of Xerrox Vol. 5, the final installment of Alva Noto’s Xerrox series.
For anyone who has been following the series since its inception in 2007, the concept of Xerrox no longer requires introduction. Originally, it aimed to create copies of images—both visual and acoustic—that are more memorable than the originals. The exploration of the relationship between the original and the copy, along with the invention of the copier, not only inspired the series name but also informed its underlying concept. In 2024, this series comes to an end, marking the culmination of a journey that began with the first recording in 2005/2006. Over nearly two decades, the five albums in this series have accompanied the artist's evolving perspective and conceptual approach.
Initially characterized by rawness and a conceptual focus on seeking resolution in white noise, the later works engage with themes of dissolution while shifting their emphasis toward acoustic particles. The copying process is now less visible through software manipulation; rather, it unfolds as the artist describes melodic and acoustic images that are then manipulated, copied, and transformed into new patterns during composition.
Nicolai describes this evolution as a journey encompassing buildup, exploration, and resolution, drawing parallels to the Odyssey and the stories of Jules Verne, particularly those featuring Captain Nemo.
The conclusion of this album holds a sense of finality for the artist. “I aimed to create a whole cycle of tracks that frame both the beginning and the end,” Nicolai explains. “The motif of the journey continues, but this time, the story reaches a dissolution through a conceptual object that embarks on its own journey into infinity. The word “dissolution” (“Auflösung” in German) is a wonderful concept. On one hand, you can solve a riddle, on the other hand, a pill can completely dissolve in water. Here, I am deliberately describing the process of dissolution.”
In crafting Volume 5, Nicolai has evolved his compositional process, eschewing samples in favor of original melodies. “This album probably took the longest to complete,” he reveals. “I first created melodic sketches, which became the foundation for the pieces. These recordings are created entirely from scratch. Based on these sketches, I constructed the process of copying, manipulating, and reshaping.”
Drawing from his recent experiences working with film and larger ensembles, Nicolai's approach to composition reflects a growing influence of classical instrumentation. “This experience of working with acoustic classical instruments has flowed into the compositional process for Xerrox Vol. 5. Certain instruments are designed with potential orchestral translation in mind.”
The sonic atmosphere of Xerrox Vol. 5 is one of profound dissolution. “I wasn’t initially interested in strong, emotional melodic aspects,” Nicolai shares, “but I realized that the fragment plays a central role.” This shift leads to an emotionally charged experience, imbued with melancholy and the bittersweet essence of farewell. The passing of Ryuichi Sakamoto, an admirer of the series, has further deepened the album’s emotional resonance.
“Xerrox Vol. 5 has a lot to do with farewell,” the artist explains. "Not only the farewell to the series itself, which I’ve nurtured for almost two decades, but also there have been many farewells to people who were close to me. I believe these people are recognizable in the music. It’s a very emotional, personal album.”
Listeners can expect a visual dimension to the music, though Nicolai intentionally leaves this open to interpretation. “I prefer to allow the music to evoke personal experiences and images rather than dictate a specific narrative,” he states. The result is a layered listening experience that invites tenderness and introspection.
Xerrox Vol. 5 will be released as a limited edition vinyl, digitally, and on CD by NOTON on November 29, 2024.

As the label turns 35 years, Tresor Records’ ongoing reissue series comes round to Scan 7’s 1999 album, Resurfaced.
A true exemplar in the canon of Detroit techno, the LP is a further reminder of Scan 7’s confidence to patiently let the music unfold, never needing to overplay their hand. This is demonstrated from the first second as Random Soul opens with a slow downbeat and soft, almost imperceptible synths before quickly settling into a perfect groove whose power is present without the need for a hard edge. This strategy is utilised throughout the album in tracks like Black Wall and Unit , while Invisible Invasion and Twisted Groov add in some intensity for deeper moments in the club.
Remastered by Mike Grinser from the original DATs, the double vinyl features the original eight tracks from the album, while the digital version (and cassette tape) includes two bonus tracks: Custom Made and Mind Trap.

Vibe's Maestro Khan Jamal's "Infinity" features a Stellar line up, a drums and percussion-rich sextet that features altoist Byard Lancaster and a Philadelphia-based rhythm section, Clifton Burton on harmonica and the legendary free drummer Sunny Murray. Khan Jamal contributed four of the five songs, while pianist Bernard Sammul brought in a cooking "The Angry Young Man." The music stands up to and can be compared to anything released on the great Jazz labels and just like a Classic Blue Note, Prestige, Verve or Impulse release this is an absolute Stand Out Session. For the London, Tokyo and all points West End crowd the Worldwide Sound is "The Known Unknown" which has been featured on several underground compilations back in the Acid Jazz Heydays of the 1990's, but the whole album is a complete undiscovered gem. Self released in 1984 and long out of print, original copies fetch $1000 and upwards, so Jazz Room Records are proud and pleased to bring this Spiritual Soul Jazz gem out to a wider audience.

Release Info:
Alva Noto returns to his much awaited Xerrox project with Vol. 4, the fourth installment of the five-piece intended series based on the concept of digital replication of source material.
Using the process of copying as a basis, the Xerrox series deals with the manipulation of data by means of endless reproduction. Due to the inherent fallacy of the procedure involving the making of copies made from
other copies, everyday’s sounds become so altered that they can be hardly associated with the source material. As a result, entirely new sounds are created: copies of originals become originals themselves.
Following Xerrox Vol. 1 (2007), Vol. 2 (2009), Vol. 3 (2015), Carsten Nicolai continues the pentalogy eluding the accuracy and precise sound design for which he’s renowned, and turning to a more harmony-driven composition technique.
Unlike the previous Xerrox albums, whose starting point is a set of samples extracted from external sources and fragments of recordings, Vol. 4 compounds under a unified cinematic soundscape, warm chords, thrumming digital ambiences, liquified
electronics, drones, and noise sustained by floods of strings. The tension between the organic warmth and static curves, broads tones into distant roars and electronic cascade of sounds.
While Alva Noto's oeuvre is predominantly affiliated with pristine sound design, Xerrox holds more intimate
gestures and emotional sensibility. This fourth volume shuns further from the conceptualism and orderliness of prior musical outputs, ranging from heart-warming elegies to mind-bending sci-fi projections in extrasolar territories.

Release Notes:
Gap Mangione's monumentally influential Diana In The Autumn Wind. AKA BEWITH200LP. And, without question, Be With's White Whale.
They said it could never be done. And with good reason.
We've spent the past 12 years trying to license this legendary 1968 recording from Gap and, after much work, it's finally here. Remarkably, this is the first ever vinyl reissue of Gap Mangione's Diana In The Autumn Wind, produced with the full and extensive participation of Gap. An exceedingly rare album, it's been coveted by funk, soul, jazz and hip-hop sample fiends for decades.
It's unarguably *the* most sought after album for J Dilla / Madlib sample collectors. It has also been brilliantly sampled by A Tribe Called Quest, Large Professor, Ghostface Killah, Kendrick Lamar and Talib Kweli.
But this record is so much more than a sample-spotters curio. It's solid gold throughout. Bursting with killer funky-jazz grooves and tracks adorned with warm electric piano, the release is notable for featuring some extremely significant players at the very outset of their careers; Tony Levin, at 21, whose superb playing on both acoustic and electric bass was the harmonic mainstay of the trio and Steve Gadd, at 23, one of the greatest drummers of his generation.
With acceptable copies of this holy grail changing hands for $400, to call this reissue "much-needed" underplays just how vital it is. Gap's story is told in his words alongside rare photos across a sumptuously designed 2-page insert and, to augment this deluxe edition further, its all wrapped up in a beautiful, no-expense-spared luxury tip-on sleeve, as per the original hens-teeth release. And, while we're talking packaging, just take a look at that cover - a work of art in and of itself.
The tracks are short but complex, with that extraordinary rhythm section backing the beautiful piano, organ and electric piano work of Gap. It's like the best ever library funk breaks record you never heard - but all your favourite golden age rap producers were all over it, long ago. It's a stunning blend of the vibrant, driving music of the Gap Mangione Trio coupled with the sensitive composition and superb orchestration of Gap's legendary brother, Chuck Mangione, who helmed an amalgam of seemingly disparate elements – rock, big band jazz, solo improvisation and "classical" music - into a spectacularly cohesive whole that has aged wonderfully well. As Gap himself notes in the liners, "with this group I was able to explore and add new and exciting elements from rock, Brazilian and then-current pop music."
Opener "Boy With Toys" triumphantly swaggers out the gate, all big band horns, flutes and dextrous organ work. The synthesis of everything going on is nothing short of stunning. When one wise YouTube commentator called this tune "old school superhero music", Gap agreed. Rap luminaries did, too, amongst them Talib Kweli, who rapped over DJ Scratch's chopped up intro for "Shock Body" on his Quality album back in 2002.
You've barely recovered from that incredibly affecting opener when you get hit over the head with the exquisite title-track. And now you see how two of the greatest beats of all time emerged from one single track produced nearly 50 years earlier. Unforgettably utilised by Dilla for Slum Village's heartbreakingly good "Fall In Love" and then Madlib for his "Official" beat for Dilla to rap over, on the Jaylib record. Regardless of the records it went on to spawn, this is just a staggering tune in its own right. Be beguiled by the flutes and the flutter tonguing, the counter-melody from the trombones, the soprano sax solo. All of it. Simply beautiful.
The questing organ and horn workout "Long Hair Soulful" deserves a lot more attention, overshadowed somewhat by the opening two monsters but no less fantastic. It swings, it grooves and Gadd and Levin truly cook. Up next, Gap's wonderfully percussive, mellifluously piano-heavy cover of "Yesterday" by some fellas called The Beatles. It's a subtly arresting gem. "The XIth Commandment" is damn fine, with thick, gorgeous electric piano and snappy drum work underpinning chaotic soundtracky horns. To close out the side, "St. Thomas" showcases the "fourth" member of the Gap Mangione Trio, conga drummer Dhui Mandingo. Having performed with the Trio since 1965, Dhui‘s African-based and jazz-latin-influenced style amazed listeners and its way to hear why.
Opening the B-Side, standard "You're Nobody Till Somebody Loves You" breezes along in the late-night jazz club fashion before things get super deep with the outstanding and - up to now - un-sampled "Pond With Swans". It's simply heavenly, and how its moody, melancholic intro has yet to be pilfered is anybody's guess. It oscillates between gentle, sombre movements and bombastic grooves, equally hypnotic and joyous. The rendition of "You Are My Sunshine" is yet another showcase for Gap's virtuoso playing and Gadd's mastery of the pocket. Indeed Gadd's drumming on "Free Again" is nothing short of neck-SNAPPING! Ghostface took it for not one but two "Iron's Theme" tracks across his seminal Supreme Clientele. It's got that Galt MacDermot "Coffee Cold" feel. Suuuuuper cool. The frantic "Dream On Little Dreamer" hurtles along and must've surely had the whole room absolutely swinging from the chandeliers back in Rochester in the late 60s. The album closes with the magnificent Graduate Medley, featuring memorable renditions of "Scarborough Fair", "The Sounds of Silence" and "Mrs. Robinson". The warm electric piano lines of the former were sampled by The Ummah (Dilla again!) for Tribe's "Pad & Pen" from their reappraised final album, The Love Movement, as well as by Large Professor on his much-loved "The LP (For My People)".
Under the watchful eye - and extremely attentive ears - of Gap Mangione himself, the audio for Diana In The Autumn Wind has been carefully remastered by Be With regular Simon Francis, with a few much needed tweaks here and there, according to the artist's wishes. At the prestigious Abbey Road Studios, Cicely Balston's expert skills have made sure nothing is lost in the cut whilst the records have been pressed to the highest possible standard at the always stellar Record Industry in Holland. The artwork restoration has taken place here at Be With HQ and has that drop-dead gorgeous cover artwork popping like new. Buy on sight!

Release Info:
May 2026 marks the arrival of TYGAPAW (aka Dion McKenzie)’s first full-length album on Tresor Records, entitled Together You Gather All Power Applied Worldwide. An acronym of its creator’s name, TYGAPAW’s third studio album is a deeply personal collection of music building worlds where Black queer and trans siblings can thrive, while unifying dancefloors worldwide. A proposition that collective wisdom liberates us from the matrix of domination we live within. The album unfolds as the latest chapter in TYGAPAW’s ongoing techno opera opus, continuing to center the voices of Black women, which surface as layered incantations rather than lyrics - powerful, haunting, sensual, activating.
With the process of creating the album starting in 2023, as TYGAPAW (Dion McKenzie) was in the first year of their transition, the music reflects the intensity of that period, where they were experiencing deplatforming as a response to the shift in their physical appearance: Tracks like ‘M32 Riddim’ and ‘Helicopter hovers over my Crown Heights Apartment’ feature high-paced rhythms intersecting with intense siren-like synths to form demanding compositions echoing a heightened sense of alert. Yet throughout the album, relief comes in the form of TYGAPAW’s vocal features, co-conspirators, and chosen family, whose voices are treated with reverb and echo, a sonic fingerprint that leads back to the pioneers in the legendary studios of TYGAPAW’s native land, Jamaica, an important reminder that the past will always inform the future. It is an album for dancers first and foremost, where joy, defiance, and integration with the natural body coexist, and every drop feels less like a climax than a transformation. Expect a bass that permeates your soul and melodic synthesized sequenced phrases echoing the dancehall eras of TYGAPAW’s youth, reshaped into hypnotic melodies that glow over industrial kicks designed to command attention, reasserting Jamaica's pioneering yet often overlooked contribution to electronic music.
In the opening track, ‘Can I Live’, Precious Okoyomon’s words feel like the beginning of a ritual; setting the intentions for the rest of the proceedings. As McKenzie puts it, their “work is about regeneration, resetting, getting integrated into nature, and about rebirth. That’s the tone I wanted to set at the outset of the album.” Ms Carrie Stacks continues this thread of support in ‘Don’t Panic’ with heavily processed vocals on top of a beat that takes inspiration from another important ingredient in the antidote to the oppression of isolation: Ballroom culture. “ I feel like I found my queerness in Ballroom, that’s why this track is very important to me.”
Echoes of NYC Black queer nightlife scene also permeate in the energetic drums of ‘Exorcise the Language of Domination’, in which Julianna Huxtable’s spoken performance complements the various movements and tones of the music. “My producer brain thought this was the one that Juliana’s vocals would be best suited for. I hinted: ‘what do you think of this one?’ She just went into her notes and picked some passages to go with the first section of the track. From there, it was a year-long process of development. It required time and space for this thing to evolve, but I think it’s one of the most powerful tracks on the album.” London’s SUUTOO contributes the album’s only musical collaboration on ‘B2B’, a track that emerged from sessions in McKenzie’s New York studio where the real objective was to connect and have fun; a time out from the demands of life outside.
The album closes out with a double hit of emotion in the form of ‘Effects of Resistance and Black Trans Masculine Experience’. The former features South African scholar Khanyisile Mbongwa drawing connections that exist between Africa and the Black diaspora, whilst looking to the future and calling for a shared sense of community.
The latter piece, an instrumental version of the piece which featured on the IMMIGRANT E.P. of 2025 is a gentle and deeply affecting end to the record, a place of peace and acceptance. This end-of-cycle tone is mirrored in the sleeve photography, which also ties back to IMMIGRANT by finally revealing what was hidden: a portrait of the artist fully self-actualized; a step towards true inner liberation. TYGAPAW is sonically defiant across this album; bass frequencies feel tactile — less heard than inhabited — infectious lead synth melodies remain with you long after the track ends. An overall sound that leaves asserting an urgent need for connection. From Detroit to New York to Berlin to Jamaica, despite geographic distance, this album reminds us that we remain in solidarity, recognising that meaningful world-building requires collective input and action, both personal and communal, if we are to move toward liberation.

“Music that came from some intimate and deeply ethereal place that effortlessly bridged the gap between the dance
floor and the home-listening environment. Pulshar is a unique dub-heavy, soulful, psychedelic journey.”
Vladimir Ivkovic.
“A crossover sound that the deepest electronic heads and mainstream music fans can equally enjoy. The energy in their
music is universal, and moves all who are exposed to it. One of my all-time favorites”
