UK pals Andy Riley and Laurence Ritchie have been Drop Music mainstays since before the turn of the millennium. They put out a veritable ton of house music and this EP first dropped back in 2004, but has long been ripe for a reissue. 'Already' sits somewhere between tech, new jack swing and deep house and is assembled from chopped-up samples, jazzy stabs and a rigid mix of drums that all get held together with a warm, swinging groove. 'Amber Gambler' on the flip is another collage made from distinctive patches - gun shots, MJ vocals, crashing hits, wiggy synths, minimal percussion and bursts of synth strings. The result is a busy, characterful groove that never stops grabbing your attention.

These are the tracks that captured the moment when disco’s ashes gave rise to something entirely new—driven by drum machines, tape edits, and an uncompromising focus on the dancefloor. Chip E helped transform house music forever.


Chip E’s journey begins in 1979 when, at just 13 years old, a life-changing night on a Chicago dancefloor—soundtracked by the Chosen Few and the records played at underground loft parties—ignited a lifelong dedication to music. From his early days digging at Importes Etc., to crafting reel-to-reel edits for DJs like Frankie Knuckles and Ron Hardy, to releasing the seminal Jack Trax EP in 1985, Chip E played a pivotal role in codifying the language, sound, and culture of house music.

Tracks like “Time to Jack” and “It’s House” didn’t just move crowds—they helped define the very terminology and identity of the genre. Combining marketing instinct, technical ingenuity, and deep immersion in Chicago’s club ecosystem, Chip E helped transform a local movement into a global phenomenon.

With The Architect Of House – Chicago 1984–88, Still Music and Jerome Derradji honor this legacy with the depth, care, and historical perspective it deserves. Tipped by many as a true DJ’s DJ, London’s Isaac Carter has a sound that sits between heritage and reinterpretation. Drawing from the iconic hubs of Chicago and Detroit, his productions reframe classic influences with a contemporary UK perspective, prioritising groove, swing, and a stripped, functional edge.

At the heart of his work, Carter has developed his Ochi imprint, where his deeper material has circulated within a select circle of DJs, with love from names such as Ben UFO, Raresh, and Joy Orbison. A controlled outlet for ideas shaped specifically for club use, that approach also carries over into his sets, playing at the likes of DC10, Glastonbury, and Love International.

Fresh from his appearance for the London favourites at FUSE’s annual Open Air showcase, Enzo Siragusa now welcomes him to the label for the first time as he brings a collection of cuts that journey into varying corners of the house sphere.

The ‘Disconnected’ EP brings five tracks built around direct function and contrast. ‘Disconnected’ opens with rolling low-end pressure and slinking drums, loaded with swing, setting a clear rhythmic foundation for the project. ‘Bad Girl’ shifts into a more playful space, led by vocal fragments, hazy chords and dubby tones. On the B-side, ‘What We Do’ leans into crisp repetition sitting beneath shifting, trippy movement, followed by ‘Loopy’, which strips things back into a reduced late-night percussive trip.
