UK pals Andy Riley and Laurence Ritchie have been Drop Music mainstays since before the turn of the millennium. They put out a veritable ton of house music and this EP first dropped back in 2004, but has long been ripe for a reissue. 'Already' sits somewhere between tech, new jack swing and deep house and is assembled from chopped-up samples, jazzy stabs and a rigid mix of drums that all get held together with a warm, swinging groove. 'Amber Gambler' on the flip is another collage made from distinctive patches - gun shots, MJ vocals, crashing hits, wiggy synths, minimal percussion and bursts of synth strings. The result is a busy, characterful groove that never stops grabbing your attention.

and dethrone major record companies than to…….. start a movement that said “fuck you” to the commericial “Smooth Jazz” that was sucking innovation, experimentalism and the soul right out of Jazz and making it a household easy to digest pre-packaged PRODUCT!! This is the track that has influenced other hi-tech jazz groups and artists such as Timeline, Boulevard des Airs, Innerzone Orchestra, Jazzanova, Spiral Deluxe, Los Hermanos, Ian O’ Brian and many others. Chip E’s journey begins in 1979 when, at just 13 years old, a life-changing night on a Chicago dancefloor—soundtracked by the Chosen Few and the records played at underground loft parties—ignited a lifelong dedication to music. From his early days digging at Importes Etc., to crafting reel-to-reel edits for DJs like Frankie Knuckles and Ron Hardy, to releasing the seminal Jack Trax EP in 1985, Chip E played a pivotal role in codifying the language, sound, and culture of house music.

Tracks like “Time to Jack” and “It’s House” didn’t just move crowds—they helped define the very terminology and identity of the genre. Combining marketing instinct, technical ingenuity, and deep immersion in Chicago’s club ecosystem, Chip E helped transform a local movement into a global phenomenon.
