Utilising their inimitable remixing style, Soulwax pump up and strip back Davidson’s ‘Push Me Fuckhead’ and ‘Sexy Clown’ for maximum dancefloor effect. The release also includes an electrifying contemporary version of 'Sexy Clown,' co-produced in the studio with Pierre Guerineau and tailored for Davidson’s acclaimed 2025 live performances.

This latest release follows Davidson’s 2025 album, a record that saw her expand her artistic language through a fusion of 90s Detroit techno grit, fired-up circuitboard breakbeats and skewed club minimalism. As with much of her work, the album used music as a means to navigate her place in the world — as an artist, as a woman, and as an entertainer. Conceptual yet emotionally raw, Davidson continues to push the boundaries of electronic music, creating work that is both deeply cerebral and disarmingly human.

With both Soulwax and Marie, sharing a commitment to bold, physical sound and restless reinvention, ‘City Of Clowns (MDJ Tools)’ stands as a natural meeting point — a late-night dialogue between two of modern electronic music’s most distinctive voices.

‘City Of Clowns (MDJ Tools)’ will be released digitally on October 31, with vinyl following early December.

Natasha Pirard returns with her most personal project yet, dedicated to her mother and late grandmother, whose care shaped her life. Fernande, Cecile is a photobook of songs, weaving voice, field recordings, synthesizer, and violin into an ode to her matrilineal line. Pirard lost her grandmother at seven, yet Fernande’s warmth stayed with her as a touchstone. Her mother, Cecile, has been a constant presence, guiding her through difficult years. Alzheimer’s—her grandmother’s illness—and the fragility of memory permeate the work. A conversation with her mother sparked the album: over coffee, Cecile placed a hand on her heart and said, “If I ever develop this disease, don’t forget I’m still here (inside).” That moment became central to the compositions, which translate Pirard’s gratitude and love into music as tender as possible. The music moves in fragments—notes, chords, loops—evoking gardens, sunlight, and childhood afternoons. Rhythms shift like life itself, carrying echoes of loss and the persistence of memory. Ambient textures brush against her voice and instruments, sometimes punctuated by her grandmother’s favorite bird. The album unfolds in two parts: Fernande, capturing her grandmother’s warmth and fading recollections, and Cecile, honoring her mother’s care and resilience. Track titles trace memories while the music drifts through longing and gratitude, articulating what words cannot. The album was written and recorded by Natasha Pirard, produced and mixed by David & Stephen Dewaele of Soulwax/2manydjs at DEEWEE.

Grammy-nominated Marie Davidson’s first release for Soulwax’s DEEWEE imprint, ‘Y.A.A.M.’, is produced by longtime collaborator Pierre Guerineau and is a cathartic response to power dynamics within the music industry. The rawness of the original is complemented by a new version by Soulwax, who previously reworked Davidson’s acclaimed ‘Work it’ anthem.

“I’ve read somewhere that to be an artist, you have to be willing to sometimes go where it is the most uncomfortable. About a year ago, after receiving a very condescending email related to the business side of music making, I took the opportunity to write down how I felt about the words and the overall tone of arrogance of what I had just been sent.

Quickly, I found myself having a bit too much fun, words flowing from my fingers to the screen, as I had never seen happen before. All sentences were brief and rhymed effortlessly. Soon enough, I realized that what I was writing was a song.

Music was made as a pure act of catharsis, an exercise in telling things as they are in the most concise way. Y.A.A.M. is a testimony of living with passion and authenticity in a world that thrives on branding and transactional relationships. I found great pleasure in writing this track. For all the theoretical posturing and hifalutin claims that accompany a lot of modern-day electronic music, it’s great to be reminded that dance music can simply – and beautifully – exist solely as a functional collection of sounds that gets people moving on the dancefloor. Fresh off the back of a debut album with sidekick Charlotte Adigéry Belgium-Chinese musician Bolis Pupul explores themes of heritage and identity on his new solo two-track 12-inch ‘Neon Buddha’ - out 6th May via Soulwax’s DEEWEE. Mixing widescreen electronica – think early Mr Fingers-like techno and Yellow Magic Orchestra’s exuberant man-machine minimalism – with the warm-hearted and wonky naivete of Belgian New Beat Bolis’ singular sonics are at once playful emotive unrelenting and tender. The title track is inspired by a dream Bolis had of a pagoda in Hong Kong featuring a contemplative Buddha made of neon lights. The music is similarly bright and exciting – an insistent acid squiggle giving the track the requisite Weatherall-friendly A Love from Outer Space chug. Housed in a UV Gloss sleeve with a printed inner.
