Robbert Mononom - Untitled
The starting point of the Robert Mononom’s oeuvre with the Mononom series. Quintessential Dutch Freetekno sound originally from 1997. A side comes on at a time warping 170BPM, no time to loose full throtle, intense acid sounds raging over crisp hats and drum machine patterns for a solid 15 minutes. B1 is more atmospheric and dubby, with B2 featuring a very hypnotic and psychedelic sounding 10 minute long excursion, both well within the Mononom aesthetic. Restored and remastered.

Sound Metaphors 23 returns, a label shining a light on the creative output of Spiral Tribe and the wider sonic and spiritual universe of the Freetekno and Free Party scene. In the sub-labels latest offering, a light is being shone on Robbert Latumahina, otherwise known as Sensory Overload and Hybrid Systems. This release sees him under the guise of Robbert Mononom, representing his membership of the legendary Dutch free party crew Mononom Soundsystem, responsible for the very first teknivals in The Netherlands and collaborators with other pioneering collectives such as Hardcore Peace Generation and Spiral Tribe themselves. What’s now being bought to light is some of the most brutal & intense original Freetekno ever committed to the recorded medium, culminating in the 20 minute long, psychedelic trip of Ice Age on the B-side.

Originally released in 1996, this record featured two 10 minute tracks which were recorded from what the artist calls a Live Set Dub (LSD), this one in particular recorded from a session at Gibus Club in Paris.
The A-side explores the influences that the artist had from the Germany foundations of Basic Channel, while the B side is the artist’s homage to Chicago and Detroit pioneers as an attempt to build a bridge between them using this work as a response which could potentially be used in a greater dialogue with the American source of inspiration.

Robert Mononom - Dolphin
2
Robert Mononom - 8bit Mayhem
Originally released in 1998, this highly sought after Freetekno cult status release is the 3rd instalment of the Mononom series on the Dutch Mononom Soundsystem Label. With each track going past the 10 minute marker, Robert is clearly not interested in radio play, but rather, documenting the auditory experiments that came about from the relationship he was cultivating with his sonic machines.
“Dolphin” is a dubbed out, dark, growing excursion, while “8bitmahem” goes full on raw hardcore. Originally “almost impossible” to mix due to technical difficulties with the MIDI sequencer he used, this official reissue comes with a fixed version of 8bit mayhem that is now quantized for DJ mixing ease.
Explained by Robert himself: “I wrote this track with one of my first programmed (Borland Pascal 7.0) MIDI-sequencers (It's fixed now though). I found this bug after I got the pressing back from the plant and tried to mix it! I used a fixed delay between each step, but when the step itself takes longer by playing multiple notes in the sequencer, the sequencer will speed up in breaks (with less notes played) and slow down in hectical parts (loads off notes played)."

Sound Metaphors 23 is back with more output from the pioneering free-party clan & scourge of the establishment, Spiral Tribe - this time with a reissue Stormcore 3 from 1996. This record comes from the mind of 69db aka Sebastian Vaughan, the improvising electronic musician who joined Spiral Tribe after their infamous ’91 New Year's Eve party at the then-abandoned Camden Roundhouse. We have here three powerful cuts of uncompromising hardcore freetekno - coming in north of 180bpm but structured on complex rhythmic patterns so this music is at once punishing yet also meditative, penetrating deep within the micro dimensions of these newly explored sonic paradigms.

This EP distinguishes itself especially for its step towards a slightly slower more atmospheric sound than the conventional Network 23 material. Simon aka Crystal Distortion, the artist responsible for the 3 tracks on this release exhibits a new pallet of sonic references which in relation to earlier material give a sense of maturation to the scene's zeitgeist. A1 almost sounds like it was pressed at the wrong speed with a slight laziness to its beat allowing it a remarkable feeling of holographic spatiality. A2 comes in at a more expected Spiral Tribe tempo, but with a more refined modality, employing sounds very reminiscent of Detroit Techno around that time. B side also merges into more digestible aesthetic in comparison to earlier material, deep sea dubby sounds juxtaposed with crunchy snares and hi hat ricochets. Another piece of the freetekno history puzzle brought back to record stores at affordable prices. Remastered at Manmade mastering in Berlin.

he last step in the Spiral Tribe trilogy from the R-Zac output (aka a collaboration between Sebastian Vaughan and Simon Carter) featuring three tracks in the pioneering style of early Spiral Tribe from 1994, clearly establishing the inspirational groundwork for dancefloor genres and mind sets to come. Driving layers of bass, transients and dubbed out melodic loops transforming into percussive elements and vice versa throughout extended excursions in fast paced machine powered exercises. Viciously remastered for maximum effect on large sound systems.

Back in the washing machine for another high intensity Tekno wash cycle of gorgeous percussive mayhem with one more carefully selected EP from the vast Spiral Tribe repertoire. This time “Stormcore 2” from Crystal Distortion aka Simon Carter takes us on a high speed stroll with 4 tracks set at a solid 180bpm all throughout. Another masterful expose of early hardcore/tekno production techniques with endless layering and intertwining of percussive elements skillfully unfolding throughout long build ups of raw rhythmic intercourse. Aesthetically pioneering to say the least. Meticulously remastered down the street from Sound Metaphors at Manmade mastering.

A generous collection of tracks, beautifully representative of the Spiral Tribe world. Coming on strong with “Summertime” a brute force exercise in synthesized rhythm, moving on to trippy dubbed out nuances over medieval bass lines - highly suggestive of time travel. On the flip side things get put back in fast gear with heavy 4 on the floor action propelled by dubbed out hi-hat. Ending with “CPU” which almost sounds like an attempt at shrinking the listener down to the size of an electron traveling inside the circuits of their samplers. Pioneering the distorted dutch techno sounds from The Hague.

Part two of the R-ZAC trilogy by Sebastian Vaughn and Simon Carter, originally released in 1996, faithfully re-issued in its original format, remastered.
Spiral Tribe founding members Sebastian Vaughn and Simon Carter empty their pockets yet again in the second step of this R-ZAC trilogy from the pioneering original Spiral Tribe times.
A side coming on strong at a good solid 180 BPM, with almost 10 minutes of a tripped out excursion in metallic transient melodies over spiraling bass lines and drastic changes of tempo throughout. Moving on to another charging wall of bass and kick on the B side generously setting the groundwork for vocal sample playfulness to unfold. Last but not least, last track on this iconic powerful layering of rhythmic patterns that move throughout a 160 BPM grid in motions reminiscent of celestial bodies orbiting each other in parabolic trajectories. Originally released in 96 and brought back to the needles of your record players in remastered vinyl format.

When hearing this material today and realizing it was originally released in '96, one can't fail to acknowledge the timelessness of these sounds – clearly illustrating how ahead of their time these productions were. Ranging from 130 to 145 BPM this EP presents a solid study in synthetic rhythm and percussion layers masterfully juxtaposed with unidentifiable electronic noises and nuances. A trademark sound signature of their own. Unmistakeable Spiral Tribe from a special era in party culture brought back when we need it the most – forward the revolution.

Anoesis - Lonely
Operating at the intersection of club functionality and cerebral sound design, London-based artist
Anoesis has steadily built a reputation for forward-thinking electronic music that feels as at home in the
warehouse as it does in the headphones. Drawing on strands of techno, house, breaks and rave futurism,
Anoesis’ productions are defined by tough rhythms, immersive atmospheres and a restless, exploratory
spirit.
Here, we present his 3rd EP for Cyphon and we find him in fine form. The Idios Kosmos EP is a five-track
statement that dives deep into Anoesis’ own sonic universe — dark, euphoric, twisted and intensely
physical — designed for late nights, early mornings and everything in between.
Opening track Idios Kosmos sees Anoesis in full nocturnal club mode. Tough, driving beats underpin
shimmering strings and mechanical synth arpeggios, while a darker-toned, speaker-wobbling sub bass
locks the track firmly into peak-time territory.
Reptile Skin pushes further into shadowy, other-worldly space. A rolling bassline and crunchy, propulsive
groove form the backbone, while glitched-out sonic details and off-kilter processing inject a twisted edge
that sounds immense on a big system.
Flipping over, we find Feeling Go which picks up the pace and lifts the mood, combining a euphoric,
looped-up vocal sample with a driving, housey groove. Tripped-out synth lines spiral overhead, delivering
a rush of hands-in-the-air energy without losing the EP’s left-field sensibility.
Next up, Big Noodle heads straight into breakbeat territory, chopping and reshaping classic breaks into a
futuristic take on 90s rave. It’s high-energy, raw and playful, fusing old-school reference points with
modern production muscle.
Closing out the EP is Lonely, the gentler and more introspective finale. Pitched-up vocals, clipped beats
and scratched fills keep the rave DNA intact, but the mood turns inward, winding things down with a
cerebral, reflective atmosphere that lingers long after the record stops spinning.
Idios Kosmos EP is a bold, cohesive release that captures Anoesis at their most confident — a deep dive
into a personal club universe where darkness, euphoria and experimentation coexist.

a rush of hands-in-the-air energy without losing the EP’s left-field sensibility.

Hate Love Trio - Sunday I Don't Know
Hate Love Trio made a low-key debut last year on this label with the slow, dreamy, dance-pop charms of 'Chan-O-Rama'. We have found out little more about the producer or producers behind it but here they or he or she returns with a full-length album of elegant and inventive downtempo and Balearic that starts off with those singles. Elsewhere, slow, mournful rhythms and melodies encourage inward reflection. 'Loosey Goosey' is a funky dancer for grown-ups, 'Billie Brownie' merges dub pacing with sunny guitar echo and 'Sunday I Don't Know' is a shimmering, jazz-flecked neo-classical warmer for intimate moments. An accomplished and adventurous album that is as good for the mind as it is body and soul.

This record contains six tracks by Freephilipp and Robin — two Bremen-based musicians who meet where the void of digital subculture and experimental electronic music opens up. Freephilipp contributes four glitch-driven pieces that move between IDM-tinged ambient, electro, atmospheric broken beats and junglish fragments. Random Chords Memory is one of the reasons this release needed to be carried out into the nexus: it stands on its own, just like the rest of the EP, yet it may be the signature track of Freephilipp’s nocturnal enthusiasm — mixing between night shifts and sharing production skills with the people around him. Robin (zckr rec / ph17) completes the EP on the flipside. Tau-37 and Omega5, named after two star systems, invite you onto a dub-soaked, drifting flight. The Basic Channel- esque impact of Tau-37 rounds out the journey in combination with Omega5, whose drone-laden soundscape slowly opens and dissolves. This music was never meant to be produced for an audience. It is a document of what it sounds like when you say goodbye to the outer world and begin building landscapes in another.
