Release Info:
The 5 record "R-ZAC - OUT OF OUR BOX SET " is a remastered collection of some of the best and most sought after tracks that were previously released on the Network 23 label, run by R-Zac & Jeff 23 from 1994 till 1996.
This box set also contains a selection of tracks originally dating back from 1996 till 2000. The post Network 23 and Spiral Tribe era, when R-Zac began their long run of solo releases as Crystal Distortion and 69db.
It was a time of pioneering the Hard-tec and Tribe genres. A time when tracks were improvised and no cuts were possible. It was their music in its rawest origin. The music that went on to become the blueprint for the Free Party sound of the 1990's and beyond.
All tracks written & produced by Simon Carter & Sebastian Vaughan.

he last step in the Spiral Tribe trilogy from the R-Zac output (aka a collaboration between Sebastian Vaughan and Simon Carter) featuring three tracks in the pioneering style of early Spiral Tribe from 1994, clearly establishing the inspirational groundwork for dancefloor genres and mind sets to come. Driving layers of bass, transients and dubbed out melodic loops transforming into percussive elements and vice versa throughout extended excursions in fast paced machine powered exercises. Viciously remastered for maximum effect on large sound systems.

Part two of the R-ZAC trilogy by Sebastian Vaughn and Simon Carter, originally released in 1996, faithfully re-issued in its original format, remastered.
Spiral Tribe founding members Sebastian Vaughn and Simon Carter empty their pockets yet again in the second step of this R-ZAC trilogy from the pioneering original Spiral Tribe times.
A side coming on strong at a good solid 180 BPM, with almost 10 minutes of a tripped out excursion in metallic transient melodies over spiraling bass lines and drastic changes of tempo throughout. Moving on to another charging wall of bass and kick on the B side generously setting the groundwork for vocal sample playfulness to unfold. Last but not least, last track on this iconic powerful layering of rhythmic patterns that move throughout a 160 BPM grid in motions reminiscent of celestial bodies orbiting each other in parabolic trajectories. Originally released in 96 and brought back to the needles of your record players in remastered vinyl format. More

Release Note:
When Spiral Tribe congregated in Berlin in the Winter of 1993, they found themselves squatting a series of trailers at Potsdamer Platz. In one of these trailers R-Zac was born. Musically the duo were transitioning from UK breakbeat techno as "The Spiral Tribe Liveset" into what would become R-Zac's signature hard psychedelic sound. This double LP marks the beginning of that journey.

This EP distinguishes itself especially for its step towards a slightly slower more atmospheric sound than the conventional Network 23 material. Simon aka Crystal Distortion, the artist responsible for the 3 tracks on this release exhibits a new pallet of sonic references which in relation to earlier material give a sense of maturation to the scene's zeitgeist. A1 almost sounds like it was pressed at the wrong speed with a slight laziness to its beat allowing it a remarkable feeling of holographic spatiality. A2 comes in at a more expected Spiral Tribe tempo, but with a more refined modality, employing sounds very reminiscent of Detroit Techno around that time. B side also merges into more digestible aesthetic in comparison to earlier material, deep sea dubby sounds juxtaposed with crunchy snares and hi hat ricochets. Another piece of the freetekno history puzzle brought back to record stores at affordable prices. Remastered at Manmade mastering in Berlin.

Back in the washing machine for another high intensity Tekno wash cycle of gorgeous percussive mayhem with one more carefully selected EP from the vast Spiral Tribe repertoire. This time “Stormcore 2” from Crystal Distortion aka Simon Carter takes us on a high speed stroll with 4 tracks set at a solid 180bpm all throughout. Another masterful expose of early hardcore/tekno production techniques with endless layering and intertwining of percussive elements skillfully unfolding throughout long build ups of raw rhythmic intercourse. Aesthetically pioneering to say the least. Meticulously remastered down the street from Sound Metaphors at Manmade mastering.

A generous collection of tracks, beautifully representative of the Spiral Tribe world. Coming on strong with “Summertime” a brute force exercise in synthesized rhythm, moving on to trippy dubbed out nuances over medieval bass lines - highly suggestive of time travel. On the flip side things get put back in fast gear with heavy 4 on the floor action propelled by dubbed out hi-hat. Ending with “CPU” which almost sounds like an attempt at shrinking the listener down to the size of an electron traveling inside the circuits of their samplers. Pioneering the distorted dutch techno sounds from The Hague. More

When hearing this material today and realizing it was originally released in '96, one can't fail to acknowledge the timelessness of these sounds – clearly illustrating how ahead of their time these productions were. Ranging from 130 to 145 BPM this EP presents a solid study in synthetic rhythm and percussion layers masterfully juxtaposed with unidentifiable electronic noises and nuances. A trademark sound signature of their own. Unmistakeable Spiral Tribe from a special era in party culture brought back when we need it the most – forward the revolution.
