Everything Is Recorded, the collaborative music project centred around producer Richard Russell, have announced their third studio album, Temporary. Releasing 28 February 2025 on XL Recordings.
Temporary features an incredible roll call of collaborators including Sampha, Bill Callahan, Noah Cyrus, Florence Welch, Maddy Prior, Berwyn, Alabaster Deplume, Jah Wobble, Yazz Ahmed, Laura Groves, Kamasi Washington, Rickey Washington, Roses Gabor, Jack Penate, Samantha Morton, Clari Freeman-Taylor and Nourished By Time.
On Temporary, Russell reboots his musical DNA, letting the rhythm take up less space and bringing melody to the fore. Some songs are inspired by the sonic thought experiment “what if folk music had ‘gone digital’ in the 80s, just as reggae had?”, while spiritually and lyrically the themes encompass grief and loss.
The album's second single Losing You is out now. It features the project's longtime collaborators Sampha and Laura Groves alongside contributions from composer and trumpeter Yazz Ahmed, and bass hero Jah Wobble.
The single is accompanied by a music video by Ed Morris featuring Russell, Sampha, Ahmed, Wobble, Tic, and Mary In The Junkyard’s Clari Freeman-Taylor.

“High Contrast used to work in this record shop in Cardiff called Catapult Records. We lived on the other side of the city, but Tom would go and buy records from him there all the time. I’m pretty sure it was the first record shop I went to after I bought Tom a voucher for his birthday one year. ‘Tough Guys Can’t Dance’ was one of those records that was just everywhere, we were all battering it, and “If We Ever” was the anthem. Ahead of Love Saves The Day this year, we started working on our own version of If We Ever, just thinking it would be something fun to play for that show, but the reaction was wild, so we just kept playing it all summer.”

On “i was put on this earth”, DJ Python - aka Brian Piñeyro - gently forays into uncharted territory as a singer, producer, and collaborator; an evolution all the more impressive in light of his groundbreaking musical projects to date like Mas Amble, Angel, and Club Sentimientos Vol 2. While splitting his time between New York and London, Python has teamed up with a diverse set of collaborators including South London rapper Jawnino, Honduran-born powerhouse Isabella Lovestory, unclassifiable songwriter Organ Tapes, and NYC mainstay Physical Therapy. On ‘i was put on this earth’, DJ Python says “to whom it may concern… its too beautiful to embrace change and to challenge urself to find something meaningful in it... i love my friends and love is deep :') i want them to know that always... but sometimes i get busy and overwhelmed n im not the best at saying how i feel always... just want to sit around and talk and feel understood together w someone who you like or u find interesting.. thats the best :) and if the day is nice or if the day is not nice but ur inside and its cozy.. thats too wicked. and ur making a soup and eating it together... just with the stuff in the kitchen.. dont even go out to get ingredients.. no need to follow a recipe.. cause ur grandma taught u to cook w the "sazon" (cooking by tasting w as u go on adding diff ingredients and spices.. no recipes. .. u can only really cook if u can freestyle in the kitchen she said).. and then u think about how ur grandma taught u that.. and your w someone in the kitchen making something together.. and then u taste it and it warms u up and ur like damn this is fire.. thats what this and i think maybe what "its all" about... thank u for taking time to read this and i hope you enjoy the album…kiss u…

gyrofield debuts on XL Recordings as part of the iconic house bag series with ‘These Heavens’. The EP is an exploration into the universe and the beauty of nature via a series of shapeshifting sonics that are just as well-suited for personal introspection as they are for sweaty underground dancefloors. On the release, gyrofield says “I see a lot of value in creating danceable music that also touches base on atmospheric and spaced-out sounds. I’m a big fan of a lot of Drum and Bass that has come out but the influences for this record stem just as much from electro and techno like I Hate Models, Djrum to synth ambient, post-rock, and experimental pop a la Bjork.”

Today Rozzma announces the ‘Khatar Sayeb’ EP, the artist’s first release for XL Recordings. He kicks off the EP release with ‘Hout’, a track that displays Rozzma’s knack for combining tribal sounds and contemporary urban/street music with a sharp, idiosyncratic flair.
Rozzma is an Egyptian sound artist inspired by the era where sound preceded music – he finds inspiration in the similarities between the wilderness of prehistoric times and modern-day chaos. Having already performed his particular strain of music across the world and at festivals like Sonar and Unsound, Rozzma releases ‘Hout’ into the digital world with an animated video created by the artist’s close friend Mahmoud Shiha.
“Hout is a celebration of beating the odds,” says Rozzma. “It’s about a specific state of mind where one finds comfort in the most extreme and unfortunate circumstances to beat the odds that one could instead fear.”
The EP’s title ‘Khatar Sayeb’ means 'loose danger’. “The release challenges the idea that danger and fear are uncontrollable circumstances,” explains Rozzma. “We cannot fully diminish fear or danger. We can only condition ourselves to believe that safety exists during the absence of fear. It is however more dangerous to deny the uncertainty of danger itself. Danger is a very broad state with infinite circumstances. But it is also infinitely uncertain and mainly linked to luck. We do not control our luck; good or bad. And it is solely luck that dictates danger and safety. It is for that reason that one’s best chances may be to condition themselves to find comfort in danger. Loose danger to be specific.”

Laurie Torres is a Canadian musician and composer raised in Montréal, Québec by Haitian parents. Since 2008, she has been a trusted stage and studio performer for Julia Jacklin, Pomme, and Land of Talk, as well as being a founding member of Folly & The Hunter, with whom she recorded four studio albums and toured Canada, Europe and the UK.
In 2023, Laurie shifted focus to work on her own creations, a process of making time - the will and the need becoming omnipresent. Drawing creative inspiration from contemporary artists like Tirzah, Gia Margaret, Valentina Magaletti, Tara Clerkin Trio and ML Buch, 'Après coup' finds Torres intersecting at a pivotal moment where artists whose marginalized identities are at the forefront in creating a beautiful array of "other options".
"Being othered and tokenized as a woman who plays music, as well as a queer and black person, takes a toll, while also positively feeding a strong urge to push and be seen."
Centering around piano, drums and synthesizer with interweaving field recordings, 'Après coup' follows the precursor ep 'Correspondances' in the form of a sprawling 11-track album. Translating directly from French - afterwards, after the event - its title subliminally points at something deeper between the lines. Recorded in 2023 between tours in a small window of time where 'normal' life hadn't quite recommenced, Torres meticulously crafted her debut solo material in view of surrounding nature, all providing the perfect nourishment for long streams of improvisation. Built right up to the edge of a lake, Studio Wild in St-Zénon, Québec offered an unparalleled location and set up for her freeform creativity.
Instrumental music seemed like a natural response and evolution for Torres who had long basked in the world of "pop music" as she elaborates: "I had an urge to use creativity as a sort of resting place, a place where things can unfold slowly and take time to reveal themselves. In other worlds words, I felt the need to make something slower, more elusive"
The immediacy of Torres' recorded takes doubled with minimal overdubs create a fiercely direct, intimate and unpolished lo-fi beauty. 'Après coup' then is self-reflective, open and inclusive with Torres allowing herself to be fully seen. An album to be felt at close distance with unrivalled authenticity. This album stands as a testament to Laurie's artistic evolution and serves as a beacon, inspiring her to continue nurturing her own creative pursuits and finding exhilarating freedom.

In a culture of instant gratification, patience is a subversive virtue. This attitude is precisely what lies at the heart of Farron's debut 12" on the Mojuba sublabel, a.r.t.less. The "Patience EP" is a convergence of two distinctive musical forces. Here, the architect behind the Shaw Cuts imprint, whose rhythmic complexity is influenced by a personal music taste ranging from hip-hop to punk via breakbeat, meets the emotional Detroit and dub-infused techno coordinates of a.r.t.less. The result is a record that embodies this tension. Farron's characteristic, subtly broken percussion merges with warm, floating pads and stabs to form a unique, seductive whole. It's not techno for pure escalation at peak time, but rather, music for the hours before and after with a sound that challenges and rewards the body and mind equally. The EP's four tracks tell a coherent story of maturation and catharsis that goes far beyond functional club tools. Following early releases as LaChriz on labels such as Ilian Tape and the consistent refinement of his vision through Shaw Cuts, this release is both a natural progression for Farron as an artist and an exciting new addition to the sound palette of a.r.t.less. On Vol. 1, Freerange gathers four diverse yet complementary tracks from Cody Currie, James Kumo, Jimpster & Bishy, and Radic The Myth, delivering a snapshot of the label’s forward-thinking yet timeless approach to house music.
Cody Currie leads the charge with Better; a deep yet playful slice of groove-laden house from the ever-inventive London-born producer. Fusing dusty samples, swinging drums and jazzy flourishes, Cody’s contribution brings warmth and good energy to the compilation. Next up James Kumo showcases his refined, stripped-back sound with a hypnotic workout that blends dubby chords, subtle textures, and crisp percussion. Loosen Up is a classy late-night roller that oozes atmosphere and restraint whilst keeping the dance floor locked in nicely.
Flipping over we’re treated to Jimpster & Bishy’s Come Down which goes in an Afro-inspired direction, striking a perfect balance of musicality and dancefloor focus in the process. Closing out the EP things get super-deep and introspective as Radic The Myth delivers Back To You. With layered rhythms and haunting synth motifs, this cut adds a cinematic edge to the package, making for a powerful closer.

NECHTO returns with its second 12” vinyl compilation, continuing the mission of presenting forward-thinking techno from both rising talents and trusted names. Each of the six tracks adds a unique voice to the raw and honest collection.
Mecha opens the record with “All My Love”, a hypnotic debut techno track shaped by years in drum and bass. Contakt follows with “Peak Jam”, a one-take hardware jam built around the warmth of a signature synth. “16th Symphony” by Human Safari is a jazz-influenced cut intended for special moments in a DJ set. Unspent delivers “Moog Gorning”, a track that shifts from percussive 4x4 to broken rhythm, carrying deep personal emotion. ARGIE’s “Strangers” captures the tension of connection and distance with layered percussion and melody. Franz Jäger closes with “Get Simon to sync”, a rave-influenced hybrid track designed for peak-time impact.
