Cenk Esen's name has been reverberating around London's jazz scene for the past several years, establishing him as the go-to keys player for those in the know. The son of pioneering Turkish Jazz-fusion keys player Aydin Esen, he has spent a lifetime perfecting his chops, studying at the prestigious Berklee College Of Music before relocating to London, and becoming one of the most formidable pianists on the circuit, including performances at Ronnie Scott and other renowned venues. Following the of several highly regarded singles, and lending his talents to the latest Chaos In The CBD album, Cenk now prepares to release his magnum opus, the new LP 'Endlessly'. Recorded at the world famous Air Studios, with world class musicians MckNasty on drums, and Tom Driessler on bass guitar, this is truly spellbinding listening experience.

Continuing to deliver Sounds From The Void, XVI Records are proud to welcome London based Producer Delonte Rivers back to the label, with his brand new EP ‘Delonte In Dub’ Having previously released his ‘Midnight Congas’ EP back in 2018 (as well as a slew of edits and releases with Banana Hill, Love Above Recordings and more) Delonte now channels an elevated state of consciousness into a new dubbed out, subterranean sonic offering. Returning with the galvanising track ‘Rise Again’, Delonte enlists the vocals of Sir Moon (also the voice of local hellraisers Muckspreader) giving a furious manifesto on the state of the union. Psyched out guitar stabs reverberate ripple across a turbulent sea of low end frequencies, as a rock-steady rhythm section holds the line. ‘Dub Again’ unsurprisingly strips back the original into a state of ethereal and reverb soaked hypnosis. ‘Cosmic Frequencies’ bring a cosmic slice of bass weight, whilst ‘One For Road’ injects a surreal, eerie atmosphere into the proceedings. This record is one for a hazed-summer in a strange dystopian world.

Next up on the ever-eclectic XVI Records, a shadowy figure steps into the spotlight: enter the mysterious Captain Over, whose dark yet soulful bruk-infused tracks soundtrack the next stage of their voyage towards the sun. For his debut outing, Captain Over calls on the abstract vocal stylings of the legendary Trim (Roll Deep, 1800 Dinosaur) on opening track ‘SICK’. Three acid techno cuts to suit the situation, especially if the situation is a blacked out warehouse with a strobe where only the pulse of the sound system matters.
The A side: "Tech 97" weaves undulating pads through sustained tension, shadowing the acid riff until it breaks into a hypnotic workout where calculated moments of release command the floor.
The B1 "Manic Mix" pushes boundaries with an urgent buildup of the 303 and metallic high hats, culminating in pure dancefloor abandon - snares and claps cutting through the darkness.
The B2 "Calm Mix" explores deeper territory with dubbed-out vibes. The acid riff maintains its spectral presence against the rhythm, while ethereal chords spiral outward creating an almost nautical motion beneath the surface.

In a flurry of angular beats and space age synth licks, Livity Sound welcomes Willis Anne to the fold under the guise of a new alias, FOREIGNER. Nutria Sounds, new sublabel of NDATL Muzik, a home for organic, soul-nourishing dance music rooted in deep grooves and essential vibes. Launching this journey is the “Mi Espiritu EP” by rising Toronto-based producer Marcelo Cruz, a three-track statement of spiritual depth and dancefloor energy.

The title track “Mi Espiritu” features the ethereal vocals of the incomparable Jaidene Veda, weaving her unmistakable tone through Cruz’s emotive percussion and lush atmospheres—an invocation of movement and spirit.

The sixteenth edition of Defected’s vinyl series continues to commit the label’s biggest digital releases to wax, delivering some of the best house music previously unavailable on vinyl. EP16 brings together four recent releases from Defected’s catalogue of world-class house. First up on the A-side is Claptone & Rune’s ‘Calabria’, a highly anticipated release from summer 2022 thanks to its warm familiarity, big rubbery bassline and brassy saxophone hook that captivated dancefloors instantly. Named King of the Edit since the 1980’s, pioneering Manhattan DJ Danny Krivit’s (aka Mr K) latest 12” delivery instils the title bestowed upon him some 30 years ago. An esteemed selector Danny’s prolific remixing and production capabilities have touched hundreds of records – with his signature flare shaping the New York City sound. Opening the A-Side of the release, is Danny edit this summer’s seminal track The Vision’s ‘Heaven’, interweaving a gloriously groovy bassline with Andreya Triana’s vocal to produce an extended, DJ friendly mix that he sent crowds wild with at Dekmental Festival. On the flip, Mr K delves a little deeper into the Defected catalogue, trying his hand at The DangerFeel Newbies’ ‘What Am I Here For (Original NDATL Vocal)’. Danny’s stripped back version extends the jazzy, percussive original, as velvety smooth vocals and elegant keys bring this expressive and sophisticated release to a close. A true master of the edit, music as good as this deserves to be heard on wax.

A song tribute to Jorge Ben Jor & Quarteto Em Cy from Brazilian hip hop talent Laiz and her band The New Love Experience, following her breakout 2024 rap and jazz debut album. Laiz's love for music is rooted in tropicália, Brazilian music old and new, and soul. Think Tom Zé, Marcelo D2 and Sampha the Great. And like so many Brazilians, the deep reverence Laiz has for home grown funk, bossa and samba artists from the second half of the twentieth century runs deep. So, following on from her jazz fuelled hip-hop debut on Agogo Records in 2024, she has written and recorded a track Se Segura, a homage to warm and fuzzy-funk sound of 70's Brazil and two of her favourite artists Jorge Ben Jor & Quarteto Em Cy.

Ohio's James A Donadio returns to Diagonal via his StabUdown Productions moniker, delivering the hyper spiritual "Tinge of Ascension" 9 track LP. This album is about the beauty of building something new by surrendering everything once learned. It's the culmination of 12 months working with a reappraised creative ethos. Throughout the process, Jimmy's interest in Krishna Consciousness & Dharma Yoga was deepening. Both went on to become deeply infused in this music. All tracks are ethereal in nature. Tempos are varied and rendered irrelevant. Jimmy's masterful use of sampling is on display as ever but the samples do not overburden. Tracks vary in energy but a bracing spirituality unites them all. Bráulio Amado (who has recently worked with Frank Ocean and Andre 3000) and Guy Featherstone (Diagonal's own aesthete force of nature) unite once again to deliver sleeve art which perfectly renders the music's preoccupation with the search for inner peace and purpose.
