Sonale - Give It
2
Sonale - Jimi's Ride
For Toxic Funk Vol. 20, we're excited to welcome back the man with the big beats and unmistakable grooves – Sonale – for his first-ever 7" vinyl release on Breakbeat Paradise Recordings. After making waves with digital releases like the bass-driven Ill Vibe EP and the party-starting Sound Monkey EP, Sonale now brings his signature style straight to wax with two exclusive funk-heavy weapons. The A-side, Give It (115 BPM), is a midtempo floor filler brimming with chunky bass, crisp drums, and soulful vocal stabs. Its bright, uplifting energy and tight arrangement make it a guaranteed crowd-pleaser – whether you're kicking off a set or taking it up a notch mid-session. Flip to the B-side and Jimis Ride (115 BPM) shifts into a smoother, rolling funk vibe. With warm guitar riffs, rounded basslines, and a laid-back yet infectious groove, it's a track that blends sophistication with head-nodding danceability – perfect for keeping the floor moving while giving the vibe some space to breathe. With Toxic Funk Vol. 20, Sonale shows that his funk translates perfectly to the 45 format – delivering a must-have slice of vinyl for DJs, collectors, and groove lovers.

Mako & Mr Bristow - One Sweet Bomb
2
Mako & Mr Bristow - Why Do You Bass Me Up? (Hawk Bass)
Has it really been two whole years since the last Stank Soul Edits vinyl 45? There wasn't even the excuse of a pandemic this time! True, but Mako & Mr Bristow think you'll agree this one has been worth the wait with its double A-side payload of two soul-drenched sister-funk edits. First up is One Sweet Bomb – which subtly tweaks the source material's arrangement and applies extra bass and additional drum leverage so it can go head-to-head with the best of the golden age of soul. On the flip, Why Do You Bass Me Up? is an uptempo funk dancer that was released in its original form with no bassline whatsoever! If only it had had one though - what might that have sounded like? If only Mako knew a bassist who knew sixties-style soul basslines. Wait a minute...of course! Former Big Boss Man bassist and Mako's sparring partner before Mr Bristow - The Hawk - a man steeped in the playing and creation of sixties-style basslines! A quick phone call later and Hawk was sent a tweaked arrangement of the source material to 'sit in' with on his bass and see what he could come up with. The results are conclusive – it's another banger!

Mako & Mr Bristow - Uptight Boss
2
Mako & Mr Bristow - Beg For A Dollar
It's a little known fact that in 1969, Motown Records boss Berry Gordy organised a holiday trip to Jamaica for his label's stars. It's even less well known that while they were there, a number of those same stars worked with an up-and-coming local producer to record versions of established hits over instrumental riddims from the newly emergent reggae genre. Unfortunately, perhaps due to the plentiful supply of herbal entertainment during the recording sessions, the masters were believed lost. Until now. Happily, their recent re-discovery means you finally get to hear Uptight Boss and Beg For A Dollar - the massively crowd-pleasing consequences of giving a brace of mid-sixties Motown classics the boss reggae treatment! Alright, maybe it didn't go down like that. Maybe the sound of this release was born instead out of people occasionally mishearing the name of Mako & Mr Bristow's 'Stank Soul Edits' series as 'Skank' Soul Edits. Which got them thinking. What would 'skank soul' sound like? Hello Trojan – meet Motown. Mojan? Trotown? Either way - reggae most definitely got soul!

Funkin' Basstards - Fire
2
Funkin' Basstards - Reasons
Breakbeat Paradise Recording is back with another crispy edition of the Toxic Funk 7-inch donut series. This time inviting the Funkin' Basstards producer duo to do their magic and bring some Toxic Funk vibes with 2 authentic funk joints regooved to perfection by 2 of scene's best beat smiths. The Toxic Funk series is tabbing into a craze of recycled old funk and soul and do edits that stays true to the vibes of the 60s and 70s but still has enough punch to put into a modern day funky DJ set. Funkin Basstards has followed that recipe to perfection on both jams on this single. Starting off with the contagious A-Side track called Fire – which showcases a classic soul party vibe track mixed with some Funkin Basstards breakbeats to keep it toxic. Followed up with the equally party rockin' soul joint Reasonswhich takes us back to the 60s soul era with some sweet soul sister vocals and a good doze of Funkin Basstardsbeats and breaks to go with it. With 2 EP release and a remix EP under their belt on BBP we felt it was about time to get these boys on a vinyl – and boy are we glad we did! Once again Breakbeat Paradise Recordings is on point to deliver you the funkiest soul and breaks available anywhere out there…

Coastal Commission - Rhodes Through Space
Growing up on the slag heaps of County Durham Northumbria, young Sam Robson dreamed of one day finding a better way & somewhere to live with nicer bloody weather! An avid record collector from an early age he looked to music for the answer…
Born in Bradford in the late 60's and growing up in the North-East in the 70's, alternative music fast became his obsession from punk, to new wave, two tone, rock and new romantic he collected it all. Electro and Hip Hop hit his local boombox in the form of "Crucial Electro" on StreetSounds Records and he was soon hungry for anything new & electronic coming out of the U.S.
His call was answered one day at school his mate Gareth (a fellow music enthusiast) lent him a 12" record from Chicago that opened up his mind & changed his course. The piano and gospel tinged record was none other than Marshall Jefferson's "House Music Anthem" that told him "to move your body" and that "house music was gonna set you free…' The rest is History. forward 10 years later to 1996 and Big Sam is now DJing a weekly House night in Santa Barbara alongside LA stalwart DJ Doc Martin. He lives just south of Santa Barbara two blocks from the Pacific Ocean in the sunny beach town of Carpinteria, (about an hour north of Los Angeles).
The warehouse is kitted out with a full studio set up of Roland Corp's latest & greatest but he also has the City Planning Commission breathing down his neck and threatening the boot as his residence unbeknownst to him had been built without any city permits! He is told that his only hope for keeping his building safe from demolition is THE CALIFORNIA COASTAL COMMISSION who protect everything 3 miles in on the entire California coast.
With the Coastal Commission on his mind & while managing L.A Dance Mecca music store "Beatnonstop Records" he meets fellow Brit, musician & house-head Chris Penny aka CPen. They quickly bond at The Cat & the Fiddle over a pint & early 90's rave and Jungle toons. Sam invites Chris up to his studio in Carpinteria for a weekend getaway from LosAngeles and a studio seshion. That night they stuff Chris's Rhodes piano in the boot of Sam's tiny Beemer and shoot up the coast on Highway 101 Carpinteria bound with their mate Lil Johnny "Toaster Oven."
After burning the midnight oil (with fellow studio boffin & PCH engineer "Evil Eye" Nate), when daylight broke "Rhodes through Space" was born. A mastering session was quickly booked and the white labels arrived a week later where they were quickly stuffed into a suitcase and it was off to South Beach/Miami to promote the track at for WMC aka Winter Music Conference. In quiet desperation and not knowing what to name the collective "COASTAL COMMISSION' featuring CPen was agreed upon and scribbled onto the White Labels. As fortune would have it, Sam would run into Philly House stalwart King Britt outside his hotel who was a regular customer at the store back in L.A. King would be one of the first peeps to receive a copy of the record. That night King invited Sam to the club where he broke the track at the Basement Jaxx Conference party party to a packed house alongside legends Daft Punk, Armand Van Helden & DJ Sneak.
25 years later the Coastal Commission are back, remastered and Cpen has since received two Grammys with Honey Dijon for their work on Beyonce's House album. "Rhodes Through Space" is a musical tribute to the club/rave/warehouse party that is still relatable to this very day.

Huxley - ANY1
Huxley debuts on Rekids with the ‘MIND G%MES’ EP. UK DJ, producer, and Dumb Safari label head Huxley joins Radio Slave’s Rekids for the first time with the ‘MIND G%MES’ EP, dropping 25th July 2025. The first track, ‘M%ND’, kicks off with woozy and alluring pads swirling round a cuddly but kicking Deep House groove. Soulful vocals and delicate, cosmic melodies rise out of the mix to bring it to a close in style. 'CLUB SH%T' ups the ante with zippy synths injecting some texture to slamming drums that straddle the House and Techno divide, while wispy stabs and warm daubs of sound dance around the cowbells to make this an evaluated late-night tool. 'FEAR N%THING' is a new school cut, with fi ltered loops, sugary chords, and pent-up energy all surging through the dance fl oor. Last but not least is 'ANY1', a sleazy House pumper featuring moody spoken word, a big, rubbery bassline, and slinky, Garage-infl uenced percussion. Active in the underground music scene for two decades, former Rinse resident and sometime Aus, Shall Not Fade and Unknown To The Unknown artist has had one hell of a career. From huge breakthrough tracks like ‘Let it Go’ on Hypercolour and ‘Box Clever’ on 20:20 Vision to his 2014 ‘Blurred’ LP on Aus, he’s seen universal critical acclaim as well as massive support from DJs and dancefloors globally. In recent years, his Dumb Safari label, the online community R Trybe (co-founded by Ramin Rezaie/BAKKIS) and collaborations with Steve Bug are just a handful of his projects, while his ‘MIND G%MES’ EP for Rekids is already feeding the fi re with support from Jen Cardini, Cromby, I.Jordan, Jennifer Loveless and big room dons, Michael Bibi and Solomun.

A landmark in Detroit deep house, Forevernevermore is Moodymann’s second full-length album on Peacefrog Records. This 2000 release sees Kenny Dixon Jr. at his most soulful and experimental, blending dusty samples, live instrumentation, and hypnotic grooves into a deeply personal sonic collage. Drawing from his earlier KDJ releases, the album reimagines rare cuts into a cohesive, emotionally rich journey through love, loss, and the spirit of the Motor City. Essential for fans of deep, narrative-driven house music.

Like sneaking an extra scoop (or two) of ice cream for dessert, what do you do when you know something’s bad for you, but its vice-like nature makes it all the more irresistible? Vega Records explores this conundrum in its latest release, “Can’t Let You Go” by the late, great Loleatta Holloway. “Can’t Let You Go” is one of the last unreleased recordings Loleatta completed before her passing in 2011. In the main mix, she addresses a relationship she knows she should end but can’t bring herself to leave because the lovin’ is just too good: “I keep coming back time and time again,” she ruminates with raw emotion. “We got to make things better or we got to do whatever to make it right… oh, let’s make it right, ‘cause I can’t let you go.” For the unfamiliar, Loleatta Holloway, a.k.a. the “Queen of the Night,” is a bona fide disco and soul icon. The singer behind successful singles such as “Hit and Run” and “Love Sensation,” she is one of the most sampled artists from the disco era. The posthumous single was written and produced by prolific artist Yvonne Turner, whose resume includes production and remix credits for music greats such as Whitney Houston, Willie Colon, and Jeffrey Osborne; as well as mixes for Lenny Kravitz, Lalah Hathaway, Mica Paris, and more. Providing subtle, smooth background vocals for the track, she allows Loleatta’s belting vocals to be the star of the percussive house groover; while Vega Records boss Louie Vega offers a “Roots” mix and emotion-charged “Soul House” mix. Louie Vega also invited his vocalist friends Tawatha Agee (of seminal R&B and soul group Mtume) and Cindy Mizelle (Louie Vega’s longtime collaborator) to add powerful hooks and new background arrangements, enhancing the track with some call and response to Loleatta's adlibs during the vamp. Gene Perez on Bass, Axel Tosca on Fender Rhodes, and Roberto Quintero on percussion. In all, the record is club-ready catharsis made for dancing all your troubles away.

If there is one person, who has been causing a stir on the international club circuit recently, it is Barcelona's John Talabot. Already his debut “My Old School“ (which is meant literally by the way) on Permanent Vacation in 2009 and shortly after that the single “ Sunshine”, which he put out on his own Hivern Disc imprint, made him one of the most promising musicians of the Spanish electronic scene. And those two releases also already set the mark for John Talabot’s unparalleled music: raw, loopy, heavy on the kick drum, sample based, moderate on the tempo, distorted on the drums and light years away from the clean and ever revolving house sound of today. This unique style which also blends influences from afro beat, Detroit techno, Chicago house and cosmic disco, but also northern soul or the energy of Flamenco, immediately turned some heads around. James Murphy, Âme and Aeroplane started including Talabot music in their sets like it was the most natural thing. However - and this is quite rare - he not only gained legions of fans in the house and disco community, but also amongst the leftfield pop and indie rock followers. NME and Resident Advisor both had “Breakthrough“ features on John Talabot and he can be proud of a “Best New Music“ dubbing on
Pitchfork. (Being rather elusive on showing his face in magazines or the web it also came to some funny rumors that John Talabot was the alter ego of a well-known techno producer from Detroit).
At the same time he drew the attention of like-minded artists like James Holden and Luke Abott from Border Community, Blondes or Delorean, which lead to a bunch of fertile collaborations: Luke Abbott and Blondes remixed Talabot’s “Sunshine“ single , John Talabot remixed a track by Delorean and vice versa Delorean’s Ekhi contributed vocals to the track “Journeys “ on John’s album). Another example is the Young Turks Label (home of Jamie XX, Holy Fuck, El Guincho or SBTRKT ) on which he released the “Families“ EP in 2010. It was praised beyond limits. Pitchfork for
instance hailed: “… where pop and house influences sweetly buffer up against one another to provide an unyielding sense of elation“ and even brought Talabot a comparison with artists like Four Tet or Caribou.
While staying true to his sound, John Talabot has nevertheless shown a constant evolution as a producer since his first release. He has traced a solid musical path that has turned him into one of the big references of European House and has made him also a highly in demand Remixer (for the likes of The XX, Francesco Tristano’s “Aufgang” project, Shit Robot on DFA, Thaiti 80, Joakim or Teengirl Fantasy to name just a few ).
A progression that now crystallizes in “ƒin”, his first full-length album for Permanent Vacation. A record, in which the Barcelona mastermind sets aside the danceable immediacy to expand his stylistic palette more than ever. For that purpose, Talabot melts all the elements that have constructed his distinctive sound until now and makes them emerge from a new perspective, in which the construction of complex song structures, intricate rhythms and superpositions of ever-evolving melodies and atmospheres pick up the baton of the “a kick-drum and a sampler” philosophy of his initial productions. The result brings us 11 tracks (we should call them songs really!) dominated by dark ambiances, gaseous textures and bittersweet moods that, above all, reveal a kind of vivacity that’s really hard to find in contemporary electronics. “Fin” is far from being a track collection. From the majestic opener “Depak Ine“ to it’s solemn ending with
“So Will Be Now“ , one of the two tracks that features Talabot’s soul and label mate Pional, each song traces an overall dialogue with the rest, culminating a highly emotional journey through Talabot’s always compelling and unique musical vision.

Peggy Gou - No Title
Peggy Gou is proud to announce the launch of her own independent record label, Gudu Records. The label’s first release will be the Moment EP - a two-track 12” featuring the tracks ‘Starry Night’ and ‘Han Pan’.
Moment’ sees Gou continue to explore the charismatic facets of her musical and personal identity, drawing on her Korean heritage and language and her love for house & disco’s Eighties heritage, with particular nods to the output of labels such as Prelude and West End Records in the decade’s nascent years.
Gou’s own singing voice, known to so many from last year’s ‘Once’ EP, returns here to confidently guide the rhythm on ‘Starry Night’. Mixing both Korean and English vocals over a tumbling cascade of percussion and piano house keys, the track builds to incorporate layers of instrumental samples and subtle acid lines. Romantic, anthemic and timeless in its feel, it reaffirms Gou’s skill as a songwriter with appeal that resonates beyond crowded dancefloors, not to mention language barriers.
'Han Pan' follows as an instantly rhythmic affair that draws energy from a memorable and delicately tuned pan-drum. Alongside some expert and understated arrangement, as well as another, contrasting vocal performance, ‘Han Pan’ transmits a different but equally powerful energy.
