Following up on the Hayal EP in 2023, Dutch techno refractor Konduku makes a welcome return to Bitta with another four cuts of prismatic club fuel. Throughout his consistent output Ruben Uvez applies non-standard ideas to the techno formula, toying with rhythm and eliciting transcendental atmospheres from unusual patterns. This mode of exploration continues unabated on Gazoz, with the title track in particular leaning on a full-frequency, one-note synth pulse which dominates the mix and becomes truly hypnotic in its relentless presence. In the wrong hands it would come off garish, but ?vez knows how to weave subtlety around such forthright sonics to create a sublime sonic experience. 'Mikros' aligns with Konduku's more recognisable palette -- taut, bell-like rhythmic threads that balance delicacy and impact while tunnelling into mysterious, introspective zones. Aimed squarely at the heads-down section of the night, 'Luna' strides forth with a decisive dub techno palette and finds space for expression and progression in the most linear of arrangements. In true B2 style, 'Inici' rounds the EP out with a more fractured approach centred on reversed kicks and psychoactive arps riding wide and slow pitch bends for a mind-melting finish running at a formidable pace. As well as showcasing Konduku at his best, the sound on Gazoz serves as an extension of Bitta boss DJ Nobu's own particular tastes in techno -- brain-tweaking machine music crafted from supple parts, honed for the club without being limited by it.

Konduku's appearance on Amenthia feels like something that happened a long time ago, but with 'Slowworm,' he officially makes his label debut, delivering three solo works that solidify his close relationship with the pioneering Basel crew. Konduku returns to the Delsin Mantis series with an exciting double pack (Mantis 09 + 10) which dives deeper into his remarkable fractured rhythms and light-touch synthesis. Over the course of nine tracks Ruben Uvez straddles the space between introspective headphone trips and hypnotising dancefloor elegance, operating in a liminal zone of fluid tempos, submerged atmospheres and pointillist beats. It's an open-ended but clear-sighted approach that aligns perfectly with the direction of the Mantis series. On Mantis 09 Uvez follows a progressive, patient arc of energy from the glassy chimes and pin-prick percussion of 'Ozlem' via 'Scale's reduced, atonal echo chamber and the half-time prowl of 'Derinkuyu' to the dense, humid pressure of 'Swerve'. Restraint maintains throughout, even as we take in a broad spectrum of the Konduku sound.

In a landslide of writhing textures and hypnotic rhythm, prolific techno explorer DOLTZ. returns to DJ Nobu's Bitta imprint for an expansive album that foregrounds his skill creating living, breathing soundscapes out of pure synthesis. Since debuting in 2020, Shun Watanabe has issued a steady stream of LPs and EPs that quickly established him at the forefront of techno innovation in the Japanese scene. It was natural then for him to forge a connection with DJ Nobu's celebrated Bitta label via 2024 release Inception EP, a forthright club-focused statement to balance out his more experimental output on Muzan Editions and other labels. Elsewhere, Watanabe has also been developing a fruitful collaboration with German techno veteran Tobias Freund, resulting in two bold yet elegant albums on Dutch label Delsin. On Final Trace, the DOLTZ. sound is steered with purpose towards tactile sonic terrain where microscopic detail rewards the patient listener. He explains a core inspiration for the album was Kobo Abe's avant-garde 1960s novel Woman In The Dunes, which drew on repetition and the quiet madness of an inescapable environment. That manifests as a forbidding demeanour that courses throughout Final Trace, detectable in every slithering trail of static interference and mind-warping tonal loop. This is expertly sculpted wormhole techno of the highest calibre, delivered by an artist with the creative spark to make something visceral and thrilling out of a technically advanced approach. The power of Final Trace lies in the subtlety of its progression as a seemingly incessant refrain slowly morphs before your ears, but this is far from a static album. From the mesmerising throb and thrilling crescendo of 'Faz' to the sprightly ripples and pulses darting across 'Resonance', there is a constant sense of movement and the bright-eyed wonder of new ground being broken at every turn. Nobu welcomes Japanese sound artist Doltz to his Bitta imprint for a full pack of hypnotic techno. Doltz started his musical career in 1998 as a drummer in a hardcore punk band, and had a fateful encounter with DJ Nobu, who shares the same musical roots, when they were billed alongside each other at a party called 'Broad' in Fukuoka-city in the winter of 2022. Impressed by Doltz's live performance, DJ Nobu immediately booked him for his residency party 'reprise' at Womb Tokyo. Set the stage for Doltz's sensational debut in Tokyo. The two hit it off and began exchanging tracks, with DJ Nobu actively playing out Doltz's tracks while touring across the world and receiving a good response. This first EP on Bitta consists of four of such tracks that were tested and proven. Doltz has already released several deeper techno and ambient works under the alias, but his encounter with DJ Nobu has allowed him to show his new potential on trippy and powerful tracks that are more dancefloor-oriented, and he has made rapid progress as an electronic music producer over the past year. For the tenth release, Ko-ta joins DJ Nobu's Bitta label. The legendary Japanese producer, known for his releases on Stratosphere Records where he showed a unique take on tribal and off-beat techno tools, now returns with two fresh and fast paced rhythm work outs. After blown away by a tune he heard in a friend's Instagram Stories, Nobu asked the friend about the track which turned out to be a work of Ko-ta's. Nobu immediately suggested Ko-ta to release his material on Bitta, and the result is this outstanding and singular EP for which Ko-ta contributed two amazing originals. Remixed by Don't DJ who flips 'Shiya' into an energetic stripped down drum and bass swinger and DJ Nobu who re-works 'Shiza' with his powerful broken techno touch.

DJ Nobu is back with the next installment of his Extra Tools series on Bitta. In Nobu's own words: "In the time when I have much less opportunities to play dance tracks as a DJ, I imagined the dance floor of the post-pandemic future, which I know will be filled with positive vibes. This 4-track EP consists of variety of tracks that can be played in different phases of a DJ set. I chose to make straightforward dance floor oriented tracks, because I wanted to encourage listeners and DJs not to forget about the fun we have on the dance floor. I wanted to convey my hope to those who are not yet able to restart the parties." Opening track 'Entering' is a trippy psychedelic track for those deep outdoor hours when the snares echo throughout the mountains, 'Resemblance' is an acid tinged breakbeat that resonates with industrial and electro style. On the flip 'Desire' is a hypnotic peak-time techno track that will function well in any environment, and 'Fade' is an atmospheric and pleasant morning breakbeat tune. The striking artwork for the cover is contributed by Nobu's close associate Tomoo Gokita.

DJ Nobu takes Follakzoid's 'IIII' in a new direction. The Chilean band Follakzoid released their latest album via Sacred Bones last year. The Bitta label boss turns around the final track twice, adding his deep techno hypnotism creating two powerful remakes. "When I heard Follakzoid's music for the first time, I felt like what we are trying to express are fundamentally similar. In other words, I felt like we are both trying to reach the same destination. And one day we met each other in the forest. Domingae and I discovered that we share the same love for Cortozar. The encounter between Follakzoid and myself is a game designed by the universe. Therefore our collaboration was a destiny, but it also imposed me the most difficult challenges I faced in my music life. I'm extremely relieved and grateful to be able to present the result as a piece of work here."

DJ Nobu returns to his own Bitta label, his personal playground for new musical projects with a focus on artists coming out of Japan. The label functions as a space for experimentation with the intention of instigating multiple styles by unexpected artists or pairing them with stimulating remixers. The unique chemistry created by these cross-genre connections results in an exciting catalogue carefully curated and directed by DJ Nobu himself. After recent outings on Rush Hour, Token and BleeD, the Japanese producer dives even deeper into a pure and adventurous techno journey with his most simplistic output to date. A DJ tool EP designed for the club, with four tracks of stripped down yet powerful dance floor workouts. All cuts have been tested and proven in Nobu's own DJ sets before now, so he decided to make them available for fellow DJs to play and experiment with.

NOTON is pleased to announce the release of Xerrox Vol. 5, the final installment of Alva Noto’s Xerrox series.
For anyone who has been following the series since its inception in 2007, the concept of Xerrox no longer requires introduction. Originally, it aimed to create copies of images—both visual and acoustic—that are more memorable than the originals. The exploration of the relationship between the original and the copy, along with the invention of the copier, not only inspired the series name but also informed its underlying concept. In 2024, this series comes to an end, marking the culmination of a journey that began with the first recording in 2005/2006. Over nearly two decades, the five albums in this series have accompanied the artist's evolving perspective and conceptual approach.
Initially characterized by rawness and a conceptual focus on seeking resolution in white noise, the later works engage with themes of dissolution while shifting their emphasis toward acoustic particles. The copying process is now less visible through software manipulation; rather, it unfolds as the artist describes melodic and acoustic images that are then manipulated, copied, and transformed into new patterns during composition.
Nicolai describes this evolution as a journey encompassing buildup, exploration, and resolution, drawing parallels to the Odyssey and the stories of Jules Verne, particularly those featuring Captain Nemo.
The conclusion of this album holds a sense of finality for the artist. “I aimed to create a whole cycle of tracks that frame both the beginning and the end,” Nicolai explains. “The motif of the journey continues, but this time, the story reaches a dissolution through a conceptual object that embarks on its own journey into infinity. The word “dissolution” (“Auflösung” in German) is a wonderful concept. On one hand, you can solve a riddle, on the other hand, a pill can completely dissolve in water. Here, I am deliberately describing the process of dissolution.”
In crafting Volume 5, Nicolai has evolved his compositional process, eschewing samples in favor of original melodies. “This album probably took the longest to complete,” he reveals. “I first created melodic sketches, which became the foundation for the pieces. These recordings are created entirely from scratch. Based on these sketches, I constructed the process of copying, manipulating, and reshaping.”
Drawing from his recent experiences working with film and larger ensembles, Nicolai's approach to composition reflects a growing influence of classical instrumentation. “This experience of working with acoustic classical instruments has flowed into the compositional process for Xerrox Vol. 5. Certain instruments are designed with potential orchestral translation in mind.”
The sonic atmosphere of Xerrox Vol. 5 is one of profound dissolution. “I wasn’t initially interested in strong, emotional melodic aspects,” Nicolai shares, “but I realized that the fragment plays a central role.” This shift leads to an emotionally charged experience, imbued with melancholy and the bittersweet essence of farewell. The passing of Ryuichi Sakamoto, an admirer of the series, has further deepened the album’s emotional resonance.
“Xerrox Vol. 5 has a lot to do with farewell,” the artist explains. "Not only the farewell to the series itself, which I’ve nurtured for almost two decades, but also there have been many farewells to people who were close to me. I believe these people are recognizable in the music. It’s a very emotional, personal album.”
Listeners can expect a visual dimension to the music, though Nicolai intentionally leaves this open to interpretation. “I prefer to allow the music to evoke personal experiences and images rather than dictate a specific narrative,” he states. The result is a layered listening experience that invites tenderness and introspection.
Xerrox Vol. 5 will be released as a limited edition vinyl, digitally, and on CD by NOTON on November 29, 2024.

With Multiply Your Absurdities, Helena Hauff delivers her long-awaited 12-inch debut on Tresor: a multi-colored inauguration, masterfully crafted by the inimitable Hamburg producer and DJ.
The title track Multiplying My Absurdities opens the record, with a slow burn of magnetic synths and numbing acid drops. Through its simple yet thrilling dynamics, it occasionally falls into playful skepticism, creating something truly unique, uncompromised, and beautiful.
Punks in the Gym is named after an infamous climbing route in Australia. As its namesake, the track mercilessly rises to a techno summit. It gets steeper and steeper with every bar, resembling a volcanic dance where 303 earthquakes shake the ground before eruptions. Once you're halfway in, there's no turning back; all you can do is keep moving forward.
The closing track, Humanoid Fruit, transports to an even darker prehistoric landscape. Synths bursts remind of fossilized Pterodactyls revived—a challenging but rewarding trip through acidic rain and the alleys of your mind. Originally released as the soundtrack for Teslaism by artist and filmmaker Bahar Noorizadeh, a 3rd person musical racing game featuring Elon Musk and his self-driving car/lover and life coach, as they drive towards a shareholder meeting in a post-gamified Berlin landscape. It premiered at the “Tresor 31: Techno, Berlin und die große Freiheit” exhibition in 2022 and deals with stimulating skepticism about the emergence of a new era after Post-fordism that she calls Teslaism: "an upgrade to the system of production and consumption predicated on advanced storytelling, financial worldbuilding, and imagineering 'the look of the future.'" What has been once inspired by Helena Hauff's dystopian sound has now been made into an official music video for the track. Much like the video, Multiply Your Absurdities represents a journey into futuristic uncertainty.

'Newsin' introduces itself with a joyous marriage of marimba and synth before yet another vocal proves Italians really do, do it better when it comes to writing some of the catchiest hooks and choruses in the universe.
'Lace', featuring the record's only male vocal appearance, has a romantic, proto-goth-new-wave vibe; like if Robert Smith and Richard Butler had a chem-sex love child after a wild night in Baia Degli Angeli.
Not sure who the woman in lace is, but we'd defo like to see her down The White Hotel one night...

Tried and tested at our recent road block parties in Manchester, these edits shine a light on four primo-grade Italo face melters. Fervently excavated by Bosco over countless visits to Bel Paese and streamlined for the hydrofoil, with some extra added calories for the club.

Border One's fourth contribution to Token Records is an ode to the cosmic, an ever-present theme in the Belgian's acclaimed career. 'Strange Attractor' takes techno and applies Border One's bubbly modular sound glossing over thick drums, weaving through sound design destined for sophisticated sets on worthy sound systems. Calm and collected, he offers yet again his attention to detail and devotion to effect.
As an introduction, 'Strange Attractor' presents a gripping story. Displaying sustained tension, he takes his time to reveal his channels. Forcing the listener to settle in and anticipate, the elements diverge and converge over the space of six minutes, shifting groove throughout. A return to calm, slightly uneasy control helps us arrive at an influx in energy for the rest of the project. Moving along to 'Astral Plane', we are introduced to more extroverted sequences. Boomy through fluctuating synth lines and stomping claps, the seasoned producer uses the size of his design in the low end to justify a more erratic arrangement. Spread noise in the background interweaves with confronting synth work, making 'Astral Plane' impressive in weight without losing the intricate quality that its producer is known for. Opening the dimension of the project through far spread elements, 'Time Dilation' creates linear focus with a cloudy entourage. An always club efficient throbbing main synth persists through an exciting structure, highly resonant transitions whip through drum machine patterns, making the third track on the record nothing if not a nail biter. The shuffle of the hi hats does nothing to slow down the energetic peak of the EP; we find Border One confidently in control of layered machinery. Drawing the project to a close, 'Fractal' blinks through persistent tension. Linear rides and drones open and close with each transition, making for a bent atmosphere of intrigue. With a sturdy rhythm dotting along from start to finish, the tonality of Fractal makes it the perfect final bow to grasp Border One's intentions and the universe he puts his work in.

Where to begin with a figure like Simon Fisher Turner? From teenage stage and screen star to illustrious recording artist for Creation and Mute and score composer of Caravaggio, Blue and The Epic of Everest - via a stint with The The and collaborations with Derek Jarman, David Lynch and Tilda Swinton - Turner embodies a distinctly British sensibility and boundless curiosity for sound. For A Colourful Storm, discovering Deux Filles, his mysterious project with Colin Lloyd-Tucker that has since been reissued by Dark Entries, was a significant moment in shaping their identity.
In August 2023, A Colourful Storm presented Simon Fisher Turner and Time is Away at Spanners, London. Performed at the tail end of Blue Now, a series of events celebrating Derek Jarman's last feature film, Blue, the recording reveals a lifetime of significant events and influences. Terre Thaemlitz's remix of Turner's Shishapangma (Comatonse Recordings, 2015) is reworked and appears on vinyl only, Jarman is privately recorded reading White Lies, Bertrand Russell is sampled, and Turner records his brother practising the Great Rissington organ for their father's funeral.
"My wife and I lived in Brixton, near the venue, on Coldharbour Lane, 20 years ago. We were above a takeaway shop. The air extractor was a nightmare and the flat smelled of grease. The market was a great place to buy fish. We adopted a giant snail, who we called Ayrton. I used to take him all over town and he loved lettuce and tomatoes. There was a wonderful small pizza shop too, which was so delicious. But back to the music. Brixton is music and I'm a lucky man."
