Subb-an joins the Semi Delicious family for their 17th edition with the aptly named ‘Wobble’ EP, complete with a remix from label head Demi Riquísimo. The release marks another progression in the label’s sonic development as Subb-an contributes a heady, all killer no filler collection of tracks that fit snugly in the diverse, forward thinking back catalog of the imprint. ‘Liquid Sun’ kicks off the release. A subtle, chugging track that utilises a classic organ with a bass acid lines to get rolling. A low end heavy ‘Contact’ is next bringing with it a deep brooding tone and housy shuffling drums. The A-side wraps up with ‘Balance’ a more ethereal track that uses classic deep house motifs whilst remaining inherently modern. The title track ‘Wobble’ opens up the B-side doing exactly what it says on the tin and the EP closes out with the main man, Demi on remix duties putting his own imitable spin on the aforementioned track.

Hot on the heels of the success of the Phonica AM’s debut release, lable curator Luther Vine has un- earthed another rare find. London based Subb-An is no stranger to all manner of Tech and Minimal sounds. He’s well known for the high calibre releases on his own One Records and countless seminal releases on lablel far too many to mention. Yet on ‘Synchronicity EP’ you will discover Subb-An like you’ve never heard him before. The newly found sound that he explores here with ease and panache is both steeped in 90’s history yet with knowledge of modern dancefloors.
The tight and driving opener ‘Synchronicity’ is sharp as a tack. The relentless kick of the 909 is pep- pered with Acid-tinged synths. It gives us great please to present Subb-an’s first solo release on 20/20 Vision. Since his joint release with Adam Shelton 4 years ago, we have been very keen to get him involved on a solo release and the time is now! Since he arrived on the scene he has since gone on to become one of its biggest players, with a constantly jam-packed tour schedule and a loyal fan base. This is all down to his considered DJ sets, and trademark groove & appeal that accompany all of his productions. ‘Modern Love’ opens the release with a bouncing groove characterised by it’s kick and bass combo. The star of the show is a wobbly acidic sequence that rears its head sporadic through track and is sure to create some waves on the dancefloor. This is followed by title track ‘The Other Side’, in which a collection of crisp and sharp soundscapes are combined with Subb-an’s typical precision and attention to detail. On the B side we then find ‘El Otro Lado (Terrace Dub)’ which showcases a slightly tougher and techno-orientated side to the release. Featuring a stripped back collection of raw drum patterns with big kick drums and sharp high hats. The release is capped off with the digitally exclusive ‘El Otro Lado (Original Mix)’ which adds a dreamy synth layer that complements the core elements perfectly.

Mark Broom drops the fifth volume of ‘Mutated Battle Breaks’. Mark Broom’s ‘Mutated Battle Breaks’ series on Radio Slave’s Rekids Special Projects dates back to 2021; since then, he’s released four volumes, with its next chapter arriving to mark the label’s first EP of 2025. Each ‘Mutated Battle Breaks’ EP consists of an extended runtime of eight tracks, supported by the likes of Robert Hood, Ben UFO, I.Jordan, Pariah, Carista, Mumdance, Lauren Flax, and many more. Across volume 5 of ‘Mutated Battle Breaks’, Mark Broom primes eight more dancefloor-ready cuts complete with rugged grooves, punchy stabs, and wild Techno sequences. From the opener ‘Romance’ and its frenzied arrangement, through to the rolling bleep-infused ‘Ranger’, Broom once again shows his mastery of rhythm and the breath of his Techno productions - one thing is certain: he continues to be one of the most significant producers in Techno after more than three decades. Techno, House, and rave, Mark Broom is one of UK dance music’s legends and has a myriad of production credits to his name dating back to 1989. Warp, M-Plant, Hardgroove, and his own Pure Plastic and Beardman imprints are just a handful of the labels he’s worked with, while studio collaborations with the likes of Baby Ford and James Ruskin have cemented his reputation as a storied and vital part of electronic music culture.

Continuing the year strong, we’re lining up the second release of Dutch newcomer Jancen. Leaving us wanting more after his impressive label debut on FigureX45, the second part of his Inner Labyrinth EP draws from a variety of influences to display his refined image of modern techno.
First off, Dub Dissonance sets the tone right with an immersive and heads-down track, determined synths stabbing away those layers of the mind. F-Track in contrast stands out with its deep swaying chords and beautiful dubby atmosphere, making for one stellar groove.
On the flipside things get more intense as Maze Chase comes swirling all in colourful peak time arps. Straightforward and unrelenting, Sassafras closes the labyrinth with an unrelenting synth motiv and captivating thump, turning the dial up to 10. Buyers of the digital package will also find bonus track Augusto Fiero, a gradually building affair that plays perfectly with the tension of sustain and release.
