Cassy returns with ‘E.T.Ascension’, a mini journey through the sounds of house and techno which she adores. With this release she revisits the simplistic methods she used when making music in previous years when living in Berlin with her then husband, where he helped build her home-studio in the living room. With him being an established sound engineer she learned a lot from him through the process and by using predominantly just an 808 and a PC, the pair produced the main parts of these tracks together, with Cassy finishing them off herself last summer. It reminded her of the weirdness that makes her productions so great, which is what she has pinned on this release, enjoying the feelings of freedom by using the machine again, and revisiting the feelings she had when using the machine for the first time, how fresh, new and particular the sounds were.

Keeping to mind that Cassy’s motive was to produce with esteemed artists that she personally came to admire, to be enlisted on two EPs is a testament to Moss’s finesse. For Marquis Hawkes, Cassy’s admiration runs deep into his ability to expertly produce quality house music on many levels. Last year he had three critically exclaimed releases on Aus Music, with ‘The Basement Is Burning’ EP securing its place as a summer smash. Hawkes blazes into ‘I Want You’ wielding sharp kicks and soaring pads, creating a mesmerising track that’s sure to elevate clubbers. On the B-side, Cassy and Moss’ ‘You Said’ breaks the silence and grabs us with the kind of spacey, distorted vocals that are sure to hypnotise listeners. The second release from Cassy's new collaborative label 'Kwench Records' sees New York native Fred P turn in three stellar remixes of Cassy & Demuir's 'Please Me' from the labels inaugural release from November. The remit for each release on the label is for two (or more) collaborating artists to produce original material, whilst a different artist will deliver one remix. However, after hearing three fantastic interpretations from Fred P, Cassy was adamant that the tracks were so special, they had to have their own release. "His remixes exceeded expectations, and it's incredible how direct and beautiful they all are." - Cassy Cassy has been an admirer of Fred P's work for many years. She loves the way his music is expressed and its immediate nature. 2017 has been a vintage year for Fred P, with his 'Instinctive Rhythms' EP and FP-Oner album '7', garnering critical acclaim from across the board. The 'Please Me Reshape Project' continues the New Yorker's fine vein of form across three mesmerising tracks. Kwench Records is a project centred around Cassy's belief that dance music should be natural and a pure expression, a view shared by the artists she invites on board. Both Cassy and Fred P are practitioners of the label's ethos, looking to create songs that resonate with the listener, as well as themselves. "It's not about hit records, it's about making music for real, and with the intention of what you can give, rather than what you can get." - Fred P The three remixes share Fred P's inimitable sound, with the 10 minutes of his 'Journey Mix' slowly embracing and developing into a cosmic voyage. The 'Fixation Mix' is an up-tempo cut, with ambient synth keys perched over brooding bass notes. The final track from the EP, 'Broken Vibes Mix', features Cassy's distinct vocals over carefully muffled claps and broken beat.

Following a string of remixes throughout 2016, and one of her busiest summers on the road, Cassy is rounding off the year on a high. Enter ‘Kwench Records’, a collaborative imprint she has created to represent honest and upfront House Music. The remit is simple, on each release two or more artists will collaborate on EP original material, with a different artist joining the package on remix duty. They must not be afraid to experiment, nor do what comes naturally to them. And above all, trust in themselves and their instincts. This is something Cassy has proudly learned to master over her DJ career, and she now wishes to put out records in a creative space that encourages this approach. For the first release, Cassy has called in one of her favourite House Music producers, Canada based Demuir, to collaborate with her. Demuir’s ‘Derrick Does Disco’ EP which came out on Great Lakes Audio in 2016 was a favorite in Cassy’s sets throughout that year, even making it onto her Mixmag presents CD ‘Let’s Talk About Donna’, which accompanied her cover in June. There are three original cuts on the package, and as a special treat for the first release, Cassy is holding back the incredible remix package until later this year.

Those already familiar will know that Running Hot has practically developed his own subgenre at this stage: a classic, finely honed sound that draws from every corner of the house music archive while remaining contemporary, fresh, and 100% playable. ‘Feel The Rhythm’ is a peak-time tribal affair, irresistibly percussive with a sickening New York feel. This is the kind of track that turns a dancefloor feral when dropped at the right moment, its vocal pizazz and hammering toms providing just the right amount of tension and release to flip a room upside down.
Veering into warehouse territory, ‘Trip’ is a stripped-back stomper that nods to the anthemic sound of London club Trade in the ’90s. Expertly tuned stabs, vocals, and shifting percussion keep the energy locked in from start to finish without ever becoming too much.

Telling a tale of house music’s early days or roots without mentioning Tony Humphries as a club DJ, remixer and radio disc jockey would make it an incomplete, forged and most of all a bit of a yawn.
Born in Brooklyn in 1957, Humphries’ musical journey is synonymous with New York City’s dance music history and the evolution from uptempo soul music to house: from being a dancer at David Mancuso’s infamous Loft parties to becoming a mobile DJ and getting the call from Shep Pettibone to become his right hand at
the then new Kiss FM radio station, followed by countless remix offers and a legendary residency at Newark’s Club Zanzibar. Next to that one, is was especially his work as a radio disc jockey for said station during most of the 1980s until 1994 that gave him majestic clout. Breaking new records week in, week out,
putting New Jersey acts like Adeva and Jomanda or countless up-and-coming producers from there on the musical map, while simultaneously playing the hottest imports from Europe, trax from Chicago, dance classics and all things straight from New York’s music factory that never seemed to stop.
Going to his vast and almost complete archive of radio shows from way back when he graced those airwaves, we at Running Back Records have picked original recordings that symbolize his importance as an industry giant and ambassador of this style of music.

Armed with little more than an SM58, a Korg Minilogue and a soundcard, he pieced together a temporary setup in a friend’s flat and got back into the habit of writing music in splendid isolation.
Somewhere in the middle of all that, Deetron sent over a sketch that instantly hit a nerve. Ben wrote and recorded the vocal for Deep In Your Soul in one sitting, then the track quietly sat and evolved over the next couple of years until Sam resurfaced with the finished version. A final vocal session in Ibiza sealed it properly.
What emerged is one of those records that feels lived-in rather than laboured over: warm, soulful and naturally unfolding across different places, phases and points in time. Another chapter in the long-running musical conversation between Deetron and Ben Westbeech.

While the first volume focused primarily on the label’s formative years and its pioneering tekkno traxx, this second chapter explores a broader spectrum of the BOY Records sound. Alongside overlooked classics from the 1989-1991 period, it extends the scope up to 1993, years in which the label embraced the rapidly evolving electronic music landscape.
As the sound matured, the raw energy of early German techno began to merge with harder techno rhythms, acid-infused productions, and the first waves of European trance. Featuring 24 carefully selected tracks, many of them long-forgotten gems, “Timeless Technology 2” captures both the diversity and forward-thinking spirit that made BOY Records a key player during the golden age of underground dance music, while documenting the label’s continued evolution and lasting contribution to the scene.

Egyptian-born, Barcelona-based Raxon makes his Lone Romantic debut with a two-tracker that sees him step decisively into breakbeat territory. A DJ for over 20 years, Raxon's journey through sound took him from the late 90s rock, hip-hop and trance of his early teens through to the Barcelona scene where he began releasing music with some of the most respected labels in dance music — Kompakt, Ellum, Cocoon and Turbo Recordings among them. Barking-born Jane Fitz, and Transmigration label founder David Fogarty, curate a collection of tracks from East London and Essex’s rich but largely overlooked constellation of independent record labels and distributors operating from London’s E16 to the edges of the Thames estuary during the 1990s.
Mysterious Vastness documents a hidden and largely detached scene that only forms into something coherent with hindsight. From a time when record labels could press and hand-distribute 1000 copies locally, the late 80s acid house and outdoor rave scenes were moving from the fields to the clubs of London and DJs such as Colin Dale, Colin Faver and Darren Emerson were dominating the airwaves and parties with a distinct mix of other-worldly techno, trance and out-there house music. Among the seemingly bland post-war housing estates and factories, a scattered handful of producers were experimenting with early versions of music production software to create an exotic, end-of-the-century soundtrack to the suburban-meets-industrial landscape.
The compilation features a selection of finds from East London’s second hand record or charity shops over a period of 15 years. Many of which have featured in Jane’s sets over the years, most notably the “Beyond The A13" Podcast for Furthur Electronix. A mix she described at the time as the soundtrack to an area of London “totally bereft of natural beauty, but to me, somehow always full of mystery and wonder.”
