After receiving Magari and Ilija Rudman’s tracks within a short time of each other it felt like a perfect fit to pair them together. Both productions give a nod to the 80s House sound whilst expertly bringing the aesthetic up to date.
Magari has provided us with an eyes closed dub’d out groover and Rudman supplies a winding and weaving synthesised journey, giving a sonic glimpse in to his fully stocked studio.
It’s always been top of our list to work with the inimitable Mark Seven. His music is a staple of our sets and as many of you know, is somewhat of guiding light of our scene. Breakbot AKA Thibaut Berland - Ed Banger's newest and brightest star announces his debut album 'By Your Side''.
Having delighted dancefloors around the world with his infectious discoid funk of 'Baby I'm Yours' and 'Fantasy', and killer re-rubs for Justice and Metronomy amongst others, 'One Out Of Two' is the first single to be taken from this multi-instrumentalist's highly anticipated debut album 'By Your Side'. Crammed with soulful, robo-disco and emotive ballads, 'By Your Side' conjures up the ghosts of the Doobie Brothers, Todd Rundgren and Hall and Oates, as well as the nostalgic TV themes to 'Silver Spoons' or 'Punky Brewster'.
Berland explains : "My elder brothers had a huge influence on me when was I a kid. David the oldest introduced me to soul, funk and pop, making me tapes of michael jackson, prince, stevie wonder, madonna, phil collins and many other things. I remember spending lots of time in his bedroom listening to his records"
An art school friend of Justice's Xavier De Rosnay, in later years, the likes of Air, Alex Gopher, Mr Oizo and of course Daft Punk were on heavy rotation for Thibaut, this heady melange of all of the above helping to create the Breakbot sound.
Just like one of his biggest inspirations, in the form of Michael Jackson's "Thriller" it was Berland's intention to make an album that rewards you for listening to as a whole: "I guess you could say my album is more a pop songs album than a Berlin techno record with water drops sounds in it - I wanted to make a pop journey that would have all my influences, without being a reference catalog"
From the opening perfect slice of retro/future summer funk 'Break Of Dawn', it's clear that this has to be one of 2012's funkiest albums... 'Fantasy features the vocals of L.A. based vocalist Ruckazoid - an astonishing discovery whose honied pipes are a dead ringer for the late, lamented King Of Pop..'One Out of Two' features Irfane's irresistible vocals, in addition to four other tracks ('Baby I'm Yours', 'A Mile Away', 'Another Dawn' and 'Mayfly and the Light'). Björn from Pacific sings on the glorious 'By Your Side (Pt 1 & 2)".
"I do everything myself except the vocals. I just fiddle about, I couldn't play a classical part, I do what I can. There are pieces of guitar samples, friends drop-in and play over my instrumentals. I love pop and funk, so I try to take that direction. That's where that hybrid sound comes from. Breakbot is a dude in a basement looking for melodies", says the ever modest Thibaut.

Pete Blaker (NL) has teamed up with Belgium's Rheinzand to re-work tracks from their last Album 'Atlantis Atlantis'. This is by no means your standard 'remix' album!
Pete has sonically re-furbished the tracks getting the band to do new instrumental layers and vocal dubs to enrich his versions to recreate a totally new take on the songs. With Pete leading the way in his production style, showcasing another side to his skills than his traditional disco edits which we know & love. The Album flows through different electronic frequencies taking the listener on an unparalleled journey into another dimension.
Pete says "Back in 2021 I was asked to remix a track for Rheinzand (Strange World). I couldn't imagine that we would have had a whole remix album that would eventually be released on vinyl. This journey was a new, overwhelming, frightening but beautiful experience for me. I had never done something like this. I didn't have the experience and knowledge at that time. I only had one night a week of studio time and 10 months of time. And here we are, I can certainly say - anything is possible.

Back in 2017, Field Of Dreams remixed the deep house masterpiece, 'La Nuit Des Tropiques' by Les Crocodiles. It became a firm favourite with the late, great Andrew Weatherall and his partner Sean Johnston at the ALFOS parties.
With only a few DJ's given a copy of the demo, it gathered momentum and was set to be huge. Unfortunately, due to a couple of abortive attempts to get it pressed, it was never released.
The FoD boys have now licensed their own remix and can now put it out there for all to enjoy on their own label.
Add to that an amazing Pete Herbert chuggy remix of their 'Pourquoi?' single which, again, never saw the light of day until recently, on digital, and we have a pretty special 12 already.

They thought their much loved deep house track, 'In Our House', needed a bit more love so gave it a slight re-edit/re-eq and brought a banging new track, 'Protect Yourself' into the fold. Funkyjaws Music kicks off a new series here with a focus on hefty disco jams. Bodgan RA is first up to flex his muscle with 'Taboo' which is full of bright synth lines and gorgeous vocal harmonies best to some lush guitar riffs. 'Buffalo' then brings some old-school energy with chopped-up beats and scratching that eventually unravel into a feel-good 80s disco sound. The joyous vibes flow on freely through 'La Battaglia' with its cosmic guitar leads, horns and raw claps then 'Detective' shuts down with the most steamy cut of the lot complete with brilliant funky undertones and expressive synth solos.

They are among the emerging artists of that new German scene of kids that make house music inspired by old Jazz and Funk records. The boys are mad about rare vinyl.
